YES!!!!! One of the major core foundations of the path to adeptship - Step one, Meditate..... Initiate step - meditate..... adept step - meditate..... working adept - meditate... whatever form of meditation... sit down, shut the feck up, and sit quietly... I used to meditate on the bus to work... and at lunchtime.... whatever whenever I could from being young.

The struggle during meditation that many find is, in fact, exactly what meditation is. I've been a meditator for over 40 years and there is almost always the 'monkey mind'. Noticing it and then bringing it back to the present moment is meditation. It's not the ability to sit still for 'X' amount of time and think of nothing. Learning what true meditation is makes it much less strenuous and dull.

YES! I've met so many people who think that meditaion is supposed to be having zero thoughts (blank space) for over 5 minutes. That's impossible, especially if you're a beginner.

A nice way to meditate and train visualizations is to meditate on a color, just try to fill your "mental screen" with a flat, no detail color.
When the monkey mind arrives and pulls you away, you'll have another thing to ground to/pull back to, because the color usually fades and helps you not to give attention to the thoughts and just aknowledge them as a subtle change in color happens.
Thank you Follish Fish for another awesome video.

I agree that being able to maintain focus is paramount to working any kind of magic. I've never been into eastern style breath meditation, but I have played chess for decades and if one can't focus on the game, one will lose the game. Reading and meditating on the meaning of scripture is another way that I learned to discipline my mind. One must also recognize that there are times when it's hard to focus for whatever reason, and those are the times to refrain from magical working and to relax and let the mind wander until refreshed.

I had a daily vipassana practice for 8 years, during which I did three week-long silent retreats. Eventually my teacher graduated me to doing moving mindfulness practices, then he retired and I stopped. A couple of months ago I started the Quareia course and the first lesson is meditation. I hemmed and hawed for a couple of weeks but finally got down to sitting again, following Jacqueline's suggested meditations, for 20 minutes a day. Within a couple of days my whole spiritual experience changed. The combination of my past experience with the meditations in the course have opened doors I did not know existed. I am shocked as someone who thought they knew all there was to know about meditating, to discover that even beginner techniques can have a profound effect on my magical practice. I'm so glad you made this video.

Incorporating daily meditation into your routine as a work-from-home dad can bring several benefits, such as increased focus, reduced stress, improved emotional regulation, and enhanced overall well-being. It can help you maintain a sense of balance and clarity amidst the demands of both work and family life.

I've read countless amounts of science-based information on psi. The ONE common denominator in psychic development was: meditation. The type didn't seem to matter, just the consistency.
If the _type_ of meditation doesn't seem to matter, when looking at the phenomena from a larger, aggregate, perspective, _then that frees you_ into simply finding which flavor fits your liking/lifestyle but, most of all, your ability to practice it consistently. I suggest trying out as many as necessary until you find something that works for you.

Since life got crazy with a few different things at once, I stopped meditating, which was not the best idea, but I let my sadness and depression take over. With the passing of my mom in December, starting a new job and a long drawn out move, I found it difficult to concentrate on magick of any kind, as well as meditation. I am about to start back up on meditation soon since some things have calmed down finally. I lost my inspiration to do things other than survival. I am doing better now, though.
Thank you for doing this video, and thank you for responding on Facebook to me. It was appreciated. Keep up the Great Work. Your videos have always been quite helpful to me.

I couldn't agree more! Meditation is so powerful and essential that you actually don't need anything else in reality. If you are constant in daily meditation practice, you will have everything even without dozens of rituals and other practices.

  • @wiktoriaburdecka8181
    @wiktoriaburdecka8181 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

Yup, meditation is the key. I remember when I first dipped in the world of magick, and all the books I was reading said something like "just meditate for ten minutes, clear your mind, best to think about nothing", and this confused me a lot. It took me a lot of time to understand that, meditation is actually about controlling your focus and minds attention, and not about sitting and thinking nothing.
I love to meditate just before bedtime, when I have too much thoughts, or trouble sleeping. Eventually during the day when I feel overstimulated by my surroudings, or feeling stressed out.

Protip square breathing and or prayer beads are excellent.
To square breath pick a number of heart beats you can comfortably breath.
    Lets say 5
    Breath in 5
    hold 5
    Out 5
    Hold 5
    Repeat
If you want to keep count of the cycles or a mantra use prayer beads and each cycle move a bead dont wory about counting you should have a notch so you will feel when you have done a full cycle around.

My biggest tip for making your mindful meditation exercises actually pleasurable, not just tolerable. I run 12 miles one day a week and 7 miles at least every other day. There is no more helpful thing in my life for managing my anxiety, my stress, and constant fidgeting. Regular, hard, disciplined exercise you feel justified in yourself with. But also, magnesium supplements, kratom now and again, and cannabis are all great aids to helping to boost yourself temporarily into a good state of mind to ease you into a playful meditation. I loved your video man, and I'm glad I got into this type of meditation long before my magical work. Because it's probably more magic than magick.

In the days when I did such things (long time ago!) I found walking helped me to write prayers and sermons - I had a dog back then so this achieved two things in one. I didn't think of it as meditation, but now I come to think of it, it possibly was. Being in lovely parkland with my dog , birdsong, wildlife and thoughts really helped to concentrate my ideas. The hardest bit was remembering them when I got back!

Now this was something! I was taking a shower and thinking about what would be the foundation to magic, that something that holds all the work and what all the magical systems built upon. My Goddess answered me "the Mind, knowing you have the power, just this." All witchcraft, all vitalism based approaches, all cerimonial magic, are there just to convince the mind that we have the power. So, how to sharpen the mind for this task, without the need to all those apparatuses? Them I sit here and find your video! Amazing. Thank you once again for your work.

I do KC, LBRP, short form MPR (seated), create thought-form for manifestation, then 21 min deep silent meditation, finish with Hexagram Ritual, short-form analysis of the keywords, KC, twice a day. I tried silent meditation before manifestation but putting the manifestation work into the subconscious afterward, I found more fruitful, but to each their own.
One of the benefits of deep silent meditation, according to Thomas Keating is deep silent meditation (surrender within) at least 20 minutes twice a day relaxes the tension deep in the body holding the repressed emotions clogging up the experience of Source within, from the emotional wounds of childhood, mental conditioning and false programs for happiness, meditation regularly releases the tension and the unconscious starts to unload. When there are no more unconscious blocking the Source, you too become the virgin and give birth to the Christ within. This is THE STORY, it's The Greatest Story Ever Told!
Many say the path of the Magician should not be mixed with the path of the Mystic but I have taken that cross and found it very meaningful.

Hey, I used to have regular practice and was able and enjoyed meditating for hours, 1-2h almost every day. Everything you said, totally make sense, you can't make magic or anything if you can't control your brain.

Just focusing on the breathing for extended periods of time is incredibly difficult for me, so I just start by focusing on the breath and instead of just thinking about breathing, I observe my mind space. I watch the thoughts, images, senses etc. without being dragged into a train of thought. I watch my mind calm down like the surface of water when the ripples fade out.

Reeeaaally love the "when you have a moment, meditate" approach. Making time to sit for 20 minutes is great but only tends to happen once a month for me, or a few days on and then off again. I'll start doing this... mm, right now! 😄

Great points…I’m grateful for my meditation practice like my yoga practice etc they sit perfectly along side of my magic practice.
Decades down the track the value I can certainly feel and see the difference profoundly ❤

Indeed, I've started meditating years ago, and was initially caught in the trap of having to do specific complicated mind exercises, which was not sustainable for me. But coming back to just being with myself, focus on the here and now, has been invaluable to me, outside of magic as well. I'm calmer, see more, don't react automatically. Like it gave me some space to be more present within myself

I haven't read it all the way through, but I did read a good chunk of the Mat Auryn book Psychic Witch and one of the first exercises laid out was to count down from 100 to 1 and visualize each number and if your mind wanders, you restart. It sounds simple enough until you try it.

You can concentrate on other stimuli as well. I like tactile meditation. Meditating on my interoception..listening to my organs as well as my breath.
You know, those wandering thoughts can help if you can maintain focus on the entity(majority of mental energy) but you allow the entity to look into your life by inviting it to look at those background reminiscences.
I've had success with this method and some entities see it as a sort of form of payment, to share my memories with them.
Granted, I have a VERY vivid memory/imagination, near eidetic.
    ...
Ope. Once again, your content has given me a breakthrough.
You have been more helpful than you can ever know, and your tutorial video on Servitor Magick literally saved my life. That's TrueSpeak, no exaggeration or figurative language.
    Warmest Regards,
    Jaysen

Yes, and I’m sure I’m not the only one who needs the reminder. The older I get, the more I understand why meditation is important and why it works. It’s not the perfectly clear mind state that everyone thinks of. The power of meditation is in the number of times you lose focus and bring it back. It’s like building a muscle.

Your conscious mind will fight for control. Crowley spoke on this. Clear your mind and reassert discipline

couldn’t agree more! just want to add that meditation can look drastically different for different people - all that matters is the meditative focus. you know it when you feel it. 2 of my personal methods that don’t involve breath focus are using music (the patterns in certain kinds of music let me “tune in” somehow, like a tuning fork being held up to another) as well as intuitive movement in the vein of yoga, just flowing through different poses that feel right to me can be extra effective in bringing the mind to center. all this to say, don’t get discouraged if you have to use a somewhat “unconventional” method!

More than ever, a must do daily practice. It's a muscle, and you need to exercise it and grow it.
    Thanks 😊
