I have absolutely no clue how I ended up here. But I watched the whole video in its entirety. Watching someone with talent and a vision fabricate it from scratch is compelling. Well done with the editing as well 👏
Truly an artist. Love the craftsmanship. Love the straight to build with no filler and no played out youtubisms, "what's goin on guys! I'm super excited blah blah blah" let me smack the camera for a cut. Original and straight to the point. Can't wait to see more. Keep going, this channel will have millions of subscribers in no time
VIDEO FAQS BELOW: "Will you add turn signals?" So unlike the Stagea that I'm also building on this channel, this Mx5 isn't road legal. Think of it more like a large model kit and so everything on it is primarily based on cosmetics. I'll be leaving this light bar hooked up to just the brake lights for my own safety so people don't crash into me when taking it to events. "You should add more strips to make it look like the Quadra from Cyberpunk 2077." One thing that I want to avoid with this car is actually drawing too much inspiration from the same sources. I don't want my car to just be an imitation of something already popular, I want it to be unique. With the design I'm going for with this car, I want it to have a stripped down minimalist look in the rear and you will see more of this as we carry on with V3.0 of this build. "What brand _____ do you use? / Do you have a link to buy ______ ?" Since I'm from New Zealand and most of my audience isn't, providing brands or links to items is only going help around 0.5% of my viewers. Because of this, rather than put links to NZ's fantastically overpriced products which are usually impossible to ship anyway, I try and give a good description of the item within the video so you can search for it locally. The LED strip in this video is not suitable for road use and I wont provide a link for it because I don't want to imply that this is something you should do. Remember this is an un-registered show car so it does not meet road safety standards. "Have you considered making it more curved to match the body of the car / make it out of a single piece?" As I mentioned briefly, we are in Version 3 of this build. My focus for this stage of the build is going to be on adding a lot of sharp, angular design elements to the car to cover up it's softer original bodylines. The reason I didn't make it out of a single piece was because when I ordered the materials for this, I still wasn't sure on the final design. As you saw in the video I wasn't happy with having to glue it and so if I get a chance I'd like to have this final shape cut from a single piece of acrylic, not polycarbonate as this will also reduce how many scratches it picks up.
If you're planning to add turning signals, it would look great if you put them vertically at the bending place of the taillight glass. By the way, another awesome thing about your videos is that you don't put music on the background 👍🏽.
Would be nicer to get adressable LED strips, and make the portion of the strip from the bends to act as a turning signal, even better make them dynamic.
You don't need to thank us for watching the video. We all should thank you, for all your hard work and giving us to chance to watch your videos. Greetings from Finland 🇫🇮
A true inspiration to the car culture, none of the annoying showmanship of other creators/"builders" that love showing themselves more than the cars (the whole point we watch in the first place). Awesome video man, keep up the good work.
I appreciate that so much actually. Gonna sub just because of that. I cant stand trying to find the :30 second part of the video I actually want to watch through the 15 minutes of a youtuber talking about a bunch of irrelevant shit.
Holy crap this is amazing, I've never seen a car build that I've liked more. This Miata is now my dream project car, instantly subscribed after watching this video.
Always GREAT to see plans make it from the kitchen table to the bench mate! Best wishes from an Englishman making armour in a French forest. RESPECT 👍⚒️🇬🇧
I just found this channel and I have to say the ASMR-like audio in place of background noise/music/talking makes watching something like this MORE interesting imo. Not to mention, if I wanted to see this while playing a game with story dialogue, or listen to my own music, etc. I won't be left feeling like I'm missing out on something. The amount of detail I saw that went into this is inspiring and I can't wait to see more.
Ay bro, just dropping to let you know that there is some weirdo that is copying your entire channel with AI voice over claiming that he's building the car take him down, thanks :).
If you are talking about @burningwrenches he is making a replica of the actual Quadra V Tech from cyberpunk and I don’t believe he is copying. Could you let me know the channel you are talking about? I am curious.
as someone who has similar plans for a mazda rx-7, this scratches a personal itch. welcome to the future, this is how we should all modify our cars now.
I think it would look better if the edge of the lighting on the left and right would have the same curve as the backend of the car itself (just the outside corner, not the glued part) Other than that it looks really cool!
This looks amazing in the end, gives it a really futuristic look. I actually quite like the way the visible joins look since it suits the shape anyway. I guess the only way around that would be to cut out the whole thing from one big sheet. Im sure thats super expensive though lol
With this tail light I was still changing the design up until the last moment which is why you saw me make it out of multiple pieces. Now that I've settled on it, I may ask a local company to cut it from a single piece of acrylic since that will help get rid of the seams and the scratches.
@@TofuAutoWorksI don’t think this would be to expensive as long as you can find someone local with a laser cutter or equivalent locally. Also, if you do this consider etching a pattern on the top to catch some of the light, kinda like the polestar precept or Bugatti Chiron has. Keep up the good work!
@@TofuAutoWorks To be honest, after what I saw, I would like to give advice on the design of the rear optics. In my personal opinion, it is worth adding several levels of such "sections" for, say, fog lights, reversing lights, and finally turn signals and maybe for anything else. BUT, I can't say that it will coincide with the style of "hi-tech - low of life". I will only try to give advice and maybe it will make your design work easier: try adding one smaller section (or two) of the same shape as in the middle, but place it above and below (if there are two sections), or below (if one). PS: I decided to write this because the car should not only be a show stopper, but also a functional thing in all its manifestations :)
@@cloudsmith7803 I'mnot sure autocad is always mentioned when it comes to precision, other modeling software can also create models with measurements down to the UMs.

Looks amazing and really loving the content you are putting out! I think you could make the joins in the plastic a feature by making multiple cuts and joins along the angled part of the tailight, possibly also adding indicators in that section.
nicest miata ive ever seen in my life and thats coming from a man that hates miatas. i have never liked these cars before in my life but this one takes the cake!
Wow! Amazing build! But I have to say as a autobody technician, the methods you are using are very... creative some might call, but I love the way you are solving problems so quickly and efficiently!
I love your work! Love your attention to detail and your approach to problem soliving. And I also love your sense of design. Hats off! These lights look oh so amazing on the Miata! I'm just a bit curious though... why not do the polycarbonate in one piece? And what if you extended the corners of your poly carbonate to run around the edges a bit (a little like the spoiler, but much shorter) and then turned that part into indicators? Whether you do it or not, I still love the light!!
Cheers mate! I've just pinned a comment going through some of the common questions I've been getting where I talk about the polycarbonate and the turn signals.

For me as someone who is working with plastics everyday and especially polycarbonate, taillights and spoiler is something I have always wanted to do. You should get it CNC'd in single peace and you can get polycarbonate that is more scratch resistant, only I don't know how would it hold up in driving, but I think it should be good as many workers get it for their forest tractors etc that get scratched a lot. Big thumbs up, this is insane!
Way to go man! Your fiberglass skills are spot on. You’ve given me a ton of inspiration for my off road Honda build. That trunk is screaming for a fiberglass speaker enclosure. Be well

I'm so meticulous about tiny details that I waste money just to fix it even if it's very minute, it would bother me that there's a seam you can clearly see. I would order another piece that's big enough to cut one whole piece out just to give it that flawless look. Excellent work! It makes me want to start a DIY of my own on a beat up car.
The best way is to make it out of 1 piece polycarbonate so you dont have to deal with the corners and less work to get it right, but its little more expensive also. Great work man! Keep it up!
