    Ron, many thanks to you in heaven. Your videos are incredible and your legacy lives on. This video just allowed a land surveyor in Colorado the ability to diagnose and fix a crank no start 6.0 in my driveway. Local shop couldn't, but had close to 8k in parts they were willing to throw at it. Thank you for taking the time to create these videos, and to your family for keeping them up. Rest in peace.

    RIP Ron, i know you are in heaven knowing your videos are still helping people. My daughter and i were traveling with the camper and were in the middle of nowhere when we had a no start issue. It was saturday night and all assistance was non existent. I was able to get a signal with my hotspot and watched this video. The part where Ron wiggled all the wires from the panel to the Ficum and it started.... bingo!! it worked for me and we were on our way to safety. Thanks again if you can hear me.

    Man I was sad a bit ago when I heard the news. To the family of Ron.... I don't know how to thank you enough for all the things I've learned from Ron's videos. One of the best teachers ive had in my life. Ive got 2 6.0 trucks. Both have studs done by me and both have never been touched by a professional mechanic since i purchased them... The reason they run so well is Ron's advice.
    Thanks a ton.

    Like so many other folks here. I just wanted to thank Ron and his family for these videos. I bought a used 04 f250 from a dealership and on the way to work the truck shut off and would not start back up. Asked the dealership for help and got refused. I threw parts at it for days wasting money until I came across Ron's videos. And thanks to this video I found my wires were shorting out. Saved me from more wasted money. I'm still learning how to work on these engines and Ron's the go to guy. Thank you.

    I spent last night watching several videos and You provided the most direct troubleshooting information. After replacing the EGR cooler and oil cooler, the truck ran for a short time then died,no restart. The information from these videos allowed me to easily understand what happened and where the problem was. The IPR was driving to 85% when cranking and little pressure was being made. Pulled the IPR (Learned from another of Your vids) and the screen was clogged and broken in 2 places. Replaced it and the truck started like it was just parked.
    I can't thank You enough for these videos!

    Hey Ron, You continue to be your family and the community hero! You just saved me $600.00. The truck didn't start and it was diagnosed with fuel sending unit malfunction also. After all it was a lose connection. I recently replaced the oil cooler "Thanks to you and your wife (The camera woman) for one of your longest and detailed video on the subject". Maybe I did not made all the connections secured. After watching this video I decided to disconnect some of the intake hoses one more time and dive in to and find the problem, voila! Now the 2006 6.0 is flying again. Thank you again buddy. RIP dear Ron.

    Hey Ron just wanted to say thanks for your video, it has helped me out alot. I currently own a 2004 ford f 250 and even though It has given me problems from the day I bought it I love my truck. I have spent lord knows how much money on it to keep it running and then putting new motor in it. I had all work done at the dealership and had a bad experience with them, I just dont trust them anymore. My truck broke down again so just when I was going to give up on it cause lord knows I know nothing about diesel engines I watched your video did all the steps you showed and now I was able to get my truck running again without even spending a dollar, so I just wanted to say thank you for helping guy's like me have hope again so thank you and I am looking forward to watching the rest of your video's to educate myself on working on my truck.

    This video helped me diagnose exactly what was wrong with my 2006 f450. I have a different scanner then the one he was using so I had to go through everything to find the 4 components to watch but it didn't take long once i found them. My ICPR was reading 84.67% as soon as I took out the IPR seen that the screen was missing about half of it (exactly as he described in another video I watched before this one). I replaced the IPR and now it runs great. Thanks Ron for the quick guide to diagnosing the problem.

    I bought a scan gauge 2 to diagnose no start on a 2003 F350 6.0. The scan gauge 2 would power up but would not connect. I determined that the ECU was not talking to the scan gauge 2 and figured it was an ECU power problem. Turned out to be two bad relays. One for the ECU power and one for the FICM power. The easy way to test the relays that are located in the fuse panel under the steering column is to turn the key to run and turn the heater blower on. The top relay on the left is the fan blower and you can use this socket to test all 5 terminal SPDT cube relays.

    There is a way to isolate each system and test for leaks. I normally inject the whole system and listen for leak. If no leak is heard I try a know good ipr. Then depending on the year or history I go after it differently. 03-04 most likely a pump. 05 and up most likely a leak. I go after the updated needed parts. dummy plug and coupler.Test each side once it is open. Also quiz the customer for any work done or injectors. If they are genuine injectors and not been touched then probably ok.

    Wire loom. Could still be a ficm or sensor. If you have rpm signal that's a plus and rules out the crank sensor and circuit.

    It was an injuctor oring on top. Rebiult the injectors, cleaned the turbo, replace all gaskets and oil cooler, up graded stand pipes dummy plug. Low pressure was the injectors making my ipr lose pressure. Runs like a champ. Crap was oil with 209,000 mile.

    2285 is usually the icp sensor leaking. A no start and 2290or 2291 could be a few things. The most common on the 03/04 is a pump unless somebody has worked on it. Such as injectors. Make. Sure you have base oil pressure and your ipr valve is not plugged or damaged. Do you. Have a scan gauge?

    I have an 04 f350 6.0 The turbo drain tube o ring was leaking Replaced with an updated one but did not seat right so it was leaking even more. So i had to take turbo out again to get to the drain tube. I put old tube with new orings from new one So i put all back together but truck would not start. So after a while i though of pumping on the gas pedal and it started right up. But i dint like the updated drain tube. It sat too high , it made the end that connects to the hpop stick out a lot , this is why it leaked even more.

    Hi Ron, I'm a tech who normally only works on gas-burners, got stuck with the job of trying to get my brother-in-law's 04 6.0 SuperDuty running after it refused to start the other day. Checked it out, had a code for a no cam postion sensor circuit, glow plug circuits, low injection oil pressure. But when cranking had sync, but no oil pressure. HPOP was shot. Never made it over 200 psi. Replaced HPOP and the IPR solenoid after the screen tip part broke off when removing it. Got ia ll back together with lots of help from your great videos. But now, The thing still won't start, and I'm not getting FICM sync. Getting a continuous code for open cam position sensor circuit. Where exactly does the damage to the wire loom usually occur?

    Great informative videos! I'm a DIY and bought a 2006 6.0 that had blown EGR cooler. After replacing oil cooler, EGR cooler (tig welded both ends closed), both fuel filters, oil change and blue hose coming off turbo to tube, I have crank no start. Watched this video and bought Scangauge. SYC=1, FCM=48.5, IPR=45 & ICP=1287. I checked oil filter & fuel filter. Fuel shows about 1/2" below top of bowl. Engine turns over like no fuel. Wife and daughter hear a high pitch clinking noise after engine turns over several times. I have high frequency hearing loss and can not hear it. Do you have any other ideas or suggestions.

    Hey Ron, I have a question for you if you could please answer. My 04 f 350 6.0 has had a no start issue. I went down to my local diesel station and got number 2 diesel like i have always and i was letting it run like i always do. the high idle was on at normal RPM and right when i went to leave i pushed the brake and it died! i figured it was something electrical. after cranking it on i believe the 7th time i tried to start it, it fired right up! this was after i disconnected the batteries the first crank cause i thought it should just reset the computer. my fuel level was 1/4 of a tank when i got fuel and it was filled to 1/2 tank the truck turned over healthy and the clatter of the injectors were there i believe. after that i drove about 30 miles and shut it off ran into walmart came back and it fired right up the rest of the day. Anything ideas or thoughts would be GREATLY appreciated! i would not like to get stuck away from home! Thanks a bunch

    Got one at work. Cold or hot doesn't matter. Low pressure gauge on dash will read nothing. Tap the throttle it raises for a few seconds. 45 or so second start hot or cold. Ipr no more than 28%. Icp pressure low codes, ckp code. Air pressurized it it has a slight leak. But what would cause it to hard start cold and hot?

      I have a simpler video titled no start tips tricks and tools. usually with all eight injector codes is s failing ficm. watch your ficm main power voltage. it should never drop below 45 with good voltage in. if you need one I sell them on ebay. search ficm I should be right there. hopefully.

    Hello I have f250 6.0 2003 with a no start condition. I went out and purchased the scangauge like you had suggested,From what I can tell it should start. but I can't hear the injector go thought the pre cycle. Does it mean it's the ficm the volt are 48 before and deering the cranking icp 1540, syc 1 yes. where should I start

    I have a 05 6.0 and I bought the tool and have set it up myself and all of the parameters are within operating range and I just installed a new 58v FICM from Swamps Diesel and have put a new fuel pump up front and it's definitely putting fuel to the fuel bowl. A couple days ago it hydrolocked and it now cranks but won't start. Any ideas? Also no codes

    • @DieselTechRon
      @DieselTechRon  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hydrolocked it's usually an injector or egr cooler. remove the glow plugs, free it up and find out what's in there.

    • @codywilson2708
      @codywilson2708 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +DieselTechRon now it's not showing signs of hydrolocking and it cranks but it won't start, I'm not getting any codes but how can I perform an injector buzz test to see which injectors are bad? If its injectors or something else?

      Oh I also checked the oil filter bowl and it does fill up with oil when cranked. I have no idea what it can be, just hoping its a easy and cheap fix.
