    Why cant Bullet Proof Diesel just put out a list of all the acronyms and what they stand for like ECT=Engine coolant temp. That would make it alot easier for the user. If you added the limits of what is safe such as " 220 degrees is the max for engine coolant temp". That would save you alot of phone calls on both ends and if I am out pulling my 5th wheel I can be sure Im not doing any damage to my engine right away.
    We all would love that. Thanks Keith

    Is this the best tool to take when buying a truck ? How will this help diagnose a bad oil cooler and clogged egr? I know white smoke will indicate a bad egr and pressure on degas will indicated bad gaskets ! Due to head bolts.

      I have had one for years, I originally bought it because it can read codes - after having a few issues with my truck I installed it so I can always monitor timing, open loop status, tps position etc. There have been no issues having it there it is quite handy, you can also monitor fuel consumption rates etc
      Oh ya, and if you get an engine light and a code is set, it will memorize codes with a snapshot of the event (engine speed, temp,load etc) - you can then clear the codes with it as well

    Hey guys new desist owner here. I bought a 2016 f250 6.7 liter. Do I really need to use the scan gauge to monitor this info? Is the truck not already doing this? Why would this be important if your not showing any codes? Looking for any info on why this would be a food purchase. Thanks in advance.

    • @BulletProofDiesel

      We recommend the ScanGauge for 6.0L and 6.4L Power Strokes - as it measures specific data points that are indicative of specific problems on those two engines. The 6.7L has not appeared to have the same problems. That said, the ScanGauge II does measure some values that don't show up on the dash in 6.7L-powered trucks, and you can check out that list here: www.scangauge.com/x-gauge-commands/6-7l-diesel/

    I just got one of these used for tractor trailer. Am I able to just buy the cord for the scanguage for a 6.0 liter? Also do I need to have it sent out to have it programmed for the 6.0?

    • @BulletProofDiesel
      @BulletProofDiesel  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you bought a version of the ScanGauge II from someone other than BPD, it's likely you'll need to use the X-Gauge functions to program it how you'd like it for a 6.0L - but it shouldn't be difficult. For that, and for the cable, check out www.scangauge.com or give them a ring at 480-656-4089.

    Can this scan guage read engine oil pressure? Thats the main reason im looking into this

    • @BulletProofDiesel
      @BulletProofDiesel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      On the 6.0L and 6.4L Ford engines they don't have an actual oil pressure sensor, rather just a pressure switch. So on the 6.0L once the oil pressure reaches 7 psi, the switch closes and the gauge on the dash moves to its "normal" or half way position. Because there is not an actual sensor reporting oil pressure to the engine computer, the ScanGauge cannot read engine oil pressure.

    • @kellismith4329
      @kellismith4329 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Even if it does show oil pressure on your particular application it would still rely on the same sensor that your dash display uses, if actual oil pressure is suspect you need to physically hook up a manual tester to verify

      We've proved you can build an ultra-reliable 6.0L, but we do also like the 7.3L too. You can sometimes find 6.0L for less cost and use our products to ensure dependability. Either way, you'll have a Power Stroke and the great Super Duty platform.

    Will this product run a health test (buzz) on my injectors?

    • @BulletProofDiesel
      @BulletProofDiesel  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The ScanGauge II can display trouble codes that might be triggered by your injectors or injector system, but it does not actively push a balance test to them. And this unit is pre-programmed for a 7.3L as well as the 6.0L and 6.4L.

    Will your Scan Gauge read EGT for a 6.0, or do you have to add a pyro sensor for that?

    • @BulletProofDiesel
      @BulletProofDiesel  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You called it - EGTs can't be read without a sensor, and Ford didn't include one with 6.0Ls. However, the ScanGauge can measure exhaust back pressure.

    What is the EOT normal range.

    • @BulletProofDiesel
      @BulletProofDiesel  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Any time it exceeds 250-degrees it's an indication that something is wrong. And during normal operation it usually won't get anywhere near that hot. Also worth noting that the coolant temps should be within 15 degrees of the oil.

    hey guys do you bulletproof the 7.3 ford 350?

    • @BulletProofDiesel
      @BulletProofDiesel  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The pattern failures that are inherent in stock 6.0L Power Stroke engines don't seem to be apparent in the 7.3L, which is a good thing! We do sell the ScanGauge II pre-programmed for 7.3L applications, which will help you keep an eye on fluid temps and a variety of other data points.

      @Mike Wible Yes. There are two different MPG modes - a lifetime one that you can reset anytime, and also a daily one that doesn't reset because it just measures in 24-hour increments.

    • @BulletProofDiesel
      @BulletProofDiesel  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Mike Wible The lifetime mode should already be recording data. We called and spoke to the folks at ScanGauge about this, and they said if you'd like to get some assistance directly from them, they'd be happy to talk to you: www.scangauge.com/about/contact-us/

      The pre-set programming on the ScanGauge II we offer will only work with '99 and newer Ford diesels. However, the device will be able to work with any OBD-II vehicle, and in most cases, that includes the 1996 model year. While you won't get the presets, you'll be able to program them in yourself with the 'X-Gauge' function.
