I went on to What Not one time. It seemed every streamer was a guy vaping, playing rap music, yelling “let’s go”, and over stating card prices. I suffered from serve second hand embarrassment. I almost feel like anyone who shops there deserves to get scammed.
I agree, if you’re still using Whatnot to buy cards from people you don’t know then it’s hard to feel sorry for you, especially after all that’s come to light.

I’m a streamer on whatnot started last year and when it first starting getting traction, the scammers came out heavy. All the main streamers are colluded with what not, and get special treatment. Their streams are always advertised. People started to complain so they added a feature to promote your own stream but to promote your stream you need to pay to be promoted for a 15 minute window. They promote the large scammer streamers, and the small streamers have the race to the bottom. I never understood why people will go in and spend over $20 on a single pack for a bounty when small streamers do the same thing for under market price packs. Almost every single one of my streams I start all the packs at a dollar. Half the time I lose money and it’s just because I like to give back and open packs sort of sad to see what not going to shit but hopefully they can change some things and get the scammers out along with the big names that are also scamming, but colluded with whatnot, if you have any questions about behind the scenes, and whatnot, I would be more than happy to help. I also agree with what not sticking up for streamers because by mistake I sent out an order to the wrong person. Their order was only $10 but they won some free stuff worth about 100 bucks. They contacted what not and I offered them a refund or $100 store credit and what not never got back to me on what would happen with the customer it’s been over three months now and they still haven’t said anything.
This is why if I want packs, I buy and open them myself. There are a few streamers that I trust but I would never put a lot of money on the line in a rip n ship ever.

I think it’s more like a pitcher saying his arm is shot after pitching for 20 years. It just means there’s nothing left and they’re done.
It’s widely accepted that if you shop on WhatNot, you’re either going to get a decent deal or be scammed. There’s no in between. I don’t advise anyone to shop there. If you get ripped off, it’s on you.

It is super easy to be regarded at the top of a collectable hobby. Have money already, spend about 300k on collections and you are all of a sudden an expert / trusted. The barrier to entry for rich people is incredibly low for this stuff to get themselves some online credibility.
I got ripped off from the main one Blake’s rips. I got ripped two ETB boxes. I have all the info , photos and I can give you many references and character witness statements . Not the way I wanted to have my 45th bday gift to my self . Like literally just started that day.

The community needs your help to cover Simply Unlucky and his persistent and regular scamming he does on the app. He has an entire operation of scamming his fans and customers and keeps their starlight rare pulls and expensive giveaways. Even "grading" their cards offplatform (against the terms of use) and keeping them for himself. I have sent you details and several proofs of it, and I have compiled several more from others who have been scammed and robbed by him and yet he is pushed by whatnot, included in their partnership program, and given extra priveleges. He also has his reviews of people reporting his scams appear on his page then somehow whatnot removes them. I have started screenshotting them the moment they show up so that when they are removed all can see. The community needs your help, Rattle. He is wreaking havoc unchecked and enabled by whatnot.

Stuff like this makes it hard to have trust for anyone. One day, the ole scammer will scam the wrong guy and get his ass jacked up.
Thats one hell of a coincidence that one of their people just happened to find AND buy the the same card they supposedly lost in the wild. The odds would probably be better for them to pull one of the other 1/1 NT Waddle RPAs out of another box.
I’m assuming they ship nationwide. The plausibility of them seeing that card at another card show is near impossible. It’s almost like people on eBay selling resealed booster packs and when they get caught, immediately offer a refund and apologize to try and avoid negative feedback.

As one of the largest video game sellers on there I left permanently due to how poorly it was run. There's just a zillion low quality streamers and just a few top tier ones, but they don't elevate or separate their top quality sellers so it just ruins it for everyone. Even worse was having those TH-camrs on there, except they don't tell you over 50% of the items the TH-camrs sold get refunded due to people bidding and not wanting to pay since the items sell for triple Ebay prices. So it only _appears_ that they are making bank, when really they are making money off the sponsorship deal. The real nail in the coffin was allowing gambling. Customers don't come back for gambling. They come to get flayed and then _never_ return again. Plus those types have actual problems with addiction/addictive behavior, etc.
I struck a streaming deal elsewhere and never looked back.
It’s tough to wade the muddy waters of WhatNot but there are a handful of good folks on there. As with anything there will always be a few good ones that are clouded out by the bad. I primarily use it for singles purchases or just entertainment to watch. Never get into the games, bounties, etc. product is always readily available in stores or online to purchase…I can open my own packs.
This kind of stuff is the reason I only watch singles streams on whatnot. Honestly, I don't even do that much anymore because there are too many clueless people paying 2 to 3 times market value.

I dabble in sports cards just a bit so I'm no expert but those 1/1 featured are HUGE hits. No matter how many packs the breakers rip, they would definitely not forget pulling those cards. Shit, anyone who watched it or even works for the breakers in any aspect would remember those cards. These people are scum. I lived through the 90s card boom and there's just something about the card hobby that attracts the worst of the worst. It's the same thing all over again, just on steroids because of the internet.
If they are not going to giveaway an expensive card they should mention that before opening anything.

I gave streaming on whatnot a shot last year for a few months and it was kinda fun. However there were so many scumbags on the app that everyone would meatride it killed it for me. Glad I deleted the app
Same here man, I streamed for a few months last year to try and make extra money selling cards and slabs and it went well for a little but it became monotonous after a while and huge waste of time. The meat riders on there are on another level and the amount of bounty gambling is sickening and how much those people are asking for their products

I love whatnot personally. I’ve hit many an SP or SSP on there. But I will say I am careful who I buy from. And the mystery bags etc I don’t really trust
As an addition, I’m not in the Pokémon community as much, I’m more in Weiss and Lycee. I’ve heard sports and Pokémon can be toxic on there.
Buying rip and ships or sealed product from any of these live-stream based apps is an immediate poor decision choice.

One of the dumbest things I've seen on there with sports is they'll do box breaks where you buy in and get a specific team but then there can be boxes without a single player from that team so you end up with literally nothing. I've seen people spend $200 or more for a team in these breaks and end up with nothing. If you have hundreds of dollars to get into a break like this why not spend a little more and get an entire box to yourself?
Ehh this is the part some disagree with but honestly it’s just an entertainment thing. Same reason people spend money at the fair/carnival, arcade, etc. Some people have a lot of fun with it and just enjoy it. The other side of it is that you have to trust the people running these breaks obviously. Most of the time when you pick a team like that they open a bunch of boxes…where itd cost a lot more to buy all those boxes. I’m okay with the small “gamble” if it’s for entertainment purposes and it’s decent value for everyone. But the $1000 being spent on modern packs chasing a 10k bounty with super slim odds of hitting it? Yeah that’s trash.

Idk I’ve gotten lots of vintage and modern cards half price sometimes even less. Also been able to find Topsun, meiji, Bandai and all sorts of other things that may be harder to find for collectors that don’t want to wait 2 months for a Japanese seller to send it over and hope it makes it here okay. Guess you just need to be careful which stream you’re going into 🤷🏽♂️ small streams are the way, big names are usually bad
Whatnot is weird but I will say Many whatnot streamers hire "employees" so I always ask for japanese cards and take advantage of them not knowing prices in my favor. I've gotten no rarity for dollars before

Is it impossible to get a good deal on whatnot? No. Is it very likely you are going to vastly overpay for cards there? Yes. It’s hard to watch cards getting sold at 30% over market value because people are trusting the streamers word. And if you call out a streamer for lying they quickly ban you from their channel.
I won a bunch of free stuff on what not. I’d never suggest buying anything tho, the whole app is hype driven.

Please look into a whatnot seller named GOINGTWICE_ESTATES. their opaque mystery envelopes look super shady. How do you stick your hand inside an opaque envelope, and pull out a winner. No one can ever tell what else is in the envelope. Plus the winner envelopes have a super flat sleeve with a numbered sticker that could easily be held between fingers from outside (knowing in advance in which corner they were placed) and letting the meager quarters drop for the reveal!! Also what sound shady about them, is that somehow, some way, magically the same people keep winning... And the host keeps yelling so and so you're on a hot streak! ...Smelling accomplices !!!
