- PVZ2 challenge runs are a staple of the community. And I don't have one done yet. Let's change that, because you know? That seems pretty important and helpful to me. Run was fun though, so I can't complain. Don't have much more to say so just watch. Also let me know if you want more of this challenge, because I will totally beat the main game 100% if I can (and, if you are really lucky, RFL after!)

Blover can be a lifesaver
These are the best plants to represent this run. Maybe, phat beet should be in place of coconut cannon but its not a big deal.

Does the dead zombie corpses fertilize the field ? So it would be fine to plant a lot of plants because there is a lot of corpses to fertilize the field
Over fertilization from tons of dead zombies will hurt the plants

Pre planted plants are legal for the goal of this challenge despite the rule set.
As they already were there, it can be assumed that they were/are part of the already existing ecosystem, thus not damaging it.
Not to mention it'd be legit impossible if they weren't... cause "protect the plants" levels.

Idea: pvz 2 nuzlock where if any plant dies, you aren’t allowed to use that plant for the rest of the game. This includes insta plants, so you effectively can only use one cherry bomb throughout your entire play through. I feel like this would be interesting and I’ve never seen anything like it before
this is something ive been working on for a while, its pretty hard, i think its easier on pvz 2

Add in an exception for the starting plants (sunflower, peashooter, wallnut, and potato mine) and I think that would make it a little easier (as loosing all your sun-producing, damage, defense, or instant use plants could easily spell the end of the run. (Maybe potato mine isn't infinite, but I feel like the others kinda have to be)
Maybe something involving growing extra plants using the garden that provides plant-food effects. Provides that plant immunity from destruction for that one level, or brings it back for that specific level, and indefinitely brought back if you manage to beat the level using it.

Technically due to how you get plants in conveyor levels, each plant uses a different seed packet thus being allowed in the rules of the challenge, as it is one plant per packet.

doesn't nightshade turn into a ranged plant if powered by a moonflower? like for the lock and load modern day thing with only 4 plants? seems like that'd help with explorers/balloons

Nightshade deals much less damage when attacking from range sadly
It does, though I don't think it would help here. Unpowered Nightshade has a very short range, but deals 200 damage per leaf and throws a leaf every 4 seconds. Powered Nightshade on the other hand does get full range, but deals 100 damage instead, also every 4 seconds while regrowing a leaf every 5 seconds. For reference, a basic peashooter hits for 20 damage roughly every 1.4 seconds, meaning Nightshade's just barely more effective when powered than a peashooter
Explorers have 350 HP on the update Creeps played, it later got nerfed to just 250, meaning it would take 16 seconds to kill a single explorer, and balloon zombies have 900 HP, so it would take almost a minute to kill one via a powered nightshade. In theory that seems good, but because it was his only source of damage, that means he wouldn't be able to attack any other zombie in any lane for that period of time.
I'd be down to see how the rest of the worlds would go. You do have quite a selection of plants now, but there's still stuff like having to deal with a parasol + digger combo in lost world.

Zombies pushed back by primal peashooter also count as airborne zombies. I believe zombies thrown by chard guard do as well
This was one of the most fun challenge runs for me to watch and I'm glad you made a video on it. This was awesome.

People really underestimate Phat Beet and I can't emphasize this enough. We also discovered that niche plants like Shadow Shroom, Night Shade, Red Stinger, Coconut Cannon, etc. are pretty decent too in these runs.

6:11-6:20 now in defense of dave, If dave can engineer a time machine and sentient plant, a decent amount of which are MAGICAL, then dave can make dirt nutritious enough to surport the growth of how ever many plants dave darn well pleases to plant.
This was a fun video, not too easy, not too hard. I also think the Hollow Knight music in the background works great as well.

Technically, if you follow the plants depleting the soil reasoning, then you don’t have a restriction on a major plant: Peanut. There’s a reason it’s used in farming.
Peanuts need less resources and provide more to the soil

Can you beat pvz2 with only peashooters?
Rules
1:beat every zomboss (or as many as you can)
2:you may only use peatshooters (no support plants at all) (the only exception being sunflower and it multiple variants examples include sunshroom, twin sunflower, and primal sunflower)
3:Gem and seed packet peashooters are allowed (these include fire pea, peanut, shadow pea, etc)
4:No leaving up plants
Besides that everything is on the table
Now what classifies as a peashooter? Any plant the either A fires peas or B looks a lot like peashooter (not mint class as the would allow things like torchwood to be allowed.
Anyway just a quick thought I had that might be fun

I was prepared for a 10 minute tangent on how monogamy with plants causes the nutrient problem in the ground, damaging the ground in the process and how using different plants grant different nutrients to the ground, keeping it healthy.

Tbh, world keys just makes it way easier and makes this challenge more harder for others wanting to try it out with current update.

Wouldnt Modern Day Day 9 be a tad easier if you used powered Nightshade to give it enough range to take out the balloon zombies and explorer? Of course, you would still need thyme warp and shoveling, but you can take out the peskier zombies like those two with range. Sure, it wouldn't help against weasel zombie, but at least explorer cant burn nightshade when it's 3 tiles away.

If the plants generate new plants through plant food, it would technically count as planted more plants. But as you aren’t manually planting the it doesn’t necessarily count

i "did" this challenge on BWB Day 30, one problem, my plants were leveled up making it a lot easier, though if you are interested what i used to beat it with the plants at the lowest level that i could remember when i beat it:
The pre-planted endangered Guacodiles(It was either lvel 5, 6 or 7)
Twin Sunflower(Level 4, makes no difference)
Threepeater(Level 5, placed at the 2nd row)
Infi-nut(Level 3, 4th row, with PF)
Banana Launcher(level 4, 5th row, Octos, Surfers, Gargs and Fishermen main priority)
Magnet Shroom(Level 3, mid row, obv for the buckets)
Cherry Bomb(Level 4, low tides, Gargs and Octos priority)
Tangle Kelp(Level 4, Fishermen and Octo priority, maybe Surfers)
I would love to know if it's possible to beat this BWB level with the plants I used just at level 1
