We are in 2014, but I admit this CL 65 AMG of 2004/2005 is by far one of the best looking Mercedes, EVER.

No it isn't. The front end is hideous and from the back it looks like a C-Class.
Front is average but it has one of the best tail light design ever made.
Until you own a CL65 you'd never know how awesome this car really is. The power and torque are just amazing!!

I have a 2005 mercedes cl65amg.It is an amazing car for its price(i bought it used from Germany for like 14k euros).Not really big problems for its km(145.000 at the clock).Totally worth its money.

I had the pleasure of driving this car 1000km throughout the country. It is an absolute dream for comfort and pleasure, but certainly not a racing car. It is even a bit annoying, that you can not use it's full power due to the lack of traction.
This car disappeared from the MOT history register in 2010. I wonder what happened to it?

obviously you havent checked up on corvettes latley. they pulled a .97 g avg. on motortrend skidpad. Z06 did that. I would love to see a mercedes pull that.

Um, yes there are. There's the Black series cars as well as the CLK-DTM. Also, more AMGs are having their governors set to 186.
And some would argue 3 times as livable on the road. i'd rather pay the premium to know that most of the people that built my car were sober when they did so.

30k euro? a in belgium a CL500 already costs you 130k euro! the CL65 go's at 240k

That Mercedes CL was and is such a nice looking car. As a car, it's very, very impressive and stylish, but on the track, no. As fast as that lap looked, I was quite disappointed by the time.
uh? almost every car company does that man. Audi has used the 1.8t from 1996-05, they have used the 4.2 V8 from 1996-08, and the R8 and RS4 and S4 still use the 4.2 V8 well the new S4 has the 3.0 S/c motor. The W12 has been used by VW/Audi for many many years. Lexus same thing. Jaguar has had the same 4.2 V8 for a decade. BMW has used the 5.0 V8 for nearly a decade.
The idea is that the motor has been perfected for many years so why change it if it is working? why add more power? do u need it?
I'd have to disagree with mr. V12IA. I have a 2005 cl65 and I get 21mpg on the freeway.. It's all in how u drive ur car. U don't have to punch it at every light u come to. That's we're people go wrong.

well yeah you're totally right but thats not the aim of mercedes and amg. they want commanding power from their amg tuned engines but want dont want to lose the luxury components they have in their cars. the only car from mercedes that is tuned somewhat for weight is the clk dtm amg. the cl's body isnt even built to perform on the track. only the engine really gives it the performance.

@rock3tcat No, That's the cheeaper and far less powerful Cl600. The CL65 is about 30 grand still :D
Your comment is utterly irrelevant. This is the test with which TG test all the new cars - regardless of their race-track pretentions or lack of them. Anyway, not all of us do "70-80" on our motorways.
Mercedes should try to replecate their CLK-GTR, and not like the SLR McLaren.
Maybe, but it must be an older C140, which was built between 1992 and 1998. At this price, it cannot be the same model as this one here...

HA ha it's only JUST faster than an STi!! This is why you need to pay for the AMG. cud see the stig finally got used to how the thing cant handle and did some decent stuff at the end
Man, the Stig sucks. A real driver can probably get that car around much faster. Or did he deliberately drive so poorly to make the Merc look bad?? Because seriously, that's one amazing handling car.
Even I think the 65 could do better
This is not a handling car by any means. Maybe CL 55 is but this is not. That engine + gearbox weights like a vw up

As for the handling, i agree these cars are not track queens but i bet if any of u drove this car on the street u wouldn't say handling sux. Think about it the people who buy these things don't know the difference between understeer and oversteer and most don't ever get near to using the power. A performance oriented driver with cash would already steer clear of mercedes because they know a better performing car is available for less. I personally like cars with shear power with some handling.
14.000 euro? cl 65 w215 is not under 35 40.000 euro,i bought from germani in august CL500 w215 2003 139.000 km and it was 18.000 euro
They are now under 40 000 even high miled w216 cl65 can be had for 29 000 euro.

on youtube write down "lingenfelter vette vs F-18 Jet" ...this car will not only own and screw the clk-gtr..but it will literally rape any street car..its a 427 lingenfelter n goes 0-60 in 1.9 sec..top speed around 240 mph

I'll agree with that. Mercedes is more luxury-oriented than say, BMW. Though BMW has alot of luxury in it's models, when they want to be sporty, oh they're sporty. Plus Mercedes uses and autotrans, that's a thumbs down.

This car isn't about track driving lol. It's got a soft suspension for comfort which results in 'average' track behaviour.
Still car is awesome. AlthoughI wouldn't want it myself.

i feel out of place with a 302 that only has 185hp & 270lb.ft stock
handling doesnt matter that much in real life. how many people who have a CL actually take it to the track?

true- if they put a smaller engine in it, and used lighter materials on the interior, than you wouldnt have to worry about the shit-load of tourque spinning the wheels.- Im just saying it could be done, and if they did it, the car might get better gas mileage too.

I'm don't think that the rich grandma and grandpas that buy this car are going to be going around corners at 200kmps so merc probs didn't design it for that.
