"Not quite the sound of an F1 car'
That did not age well
*age
@@fh5102 oops
@@acookiegimme4894 it's not even an f1 car. That's a car for track use only. Ever heard why Ferrari FXX can't be driven on the public road?
@@khoado2060 it's not an F1 car god dammit 🤦
hehe buoi he’s talking about the new v6s
I'd love to see an F1 car with 1986 power, 1992 car and tire width, 1993 electronics and 2004 aero.
2008 aero ;)
+gold333 I would already be pleased with V10 engines...
And 2000-2005 sound.
1 for 4 this season
gold333 RB6 has most aero of all time
4 seconds off an F1 car from 2004 driven by an F1 driver is actually quite sublime.
Tbf the F1 car did it in mixed conditions
We all know F1 cars on wets are around 10 seconds a lap slower per lap. These are demo worn wets by the look as well.
I think its safe to say if the Grand Prix car was on softs on a dry track, 15 seconds is a more realistic gap.
The Renault F1 a few years ago did in 59 seconds on a partially wet track. So the F1 car would be more than 3 seconds quicker on a dry track.
Correct. Sadly these days they make F1 slower than before...2014's F1 car with 1.6 litre V6 is around 7seconds++ slower per lap than F1 of decade ago (2004).
Probably this T125 is nearly as 'slow' as current F1 car...
pitmie That's if you compare race laps which would be inaccurate since there's no longer refuelling and they race on full fuel tanks now. Compare the qualifying laps and the difference is around 3 seconds. Still too much though.
MrBadumtish Not sure if I was clear with what I said. The Renault F1 that lapped this circuit on Top Gear is a lot quicker than this car. A lot more than 3 seconds. The track was wet when the Renault F1 did it's lap. Have a look at F1 times for that era car on wet and dry track and you will know what I am saying.
Sorry MrBadumtish, I think I don't understand the flow of the name tags in replies yet.
craigozland My original comment was a response to pitmie's original comment about the comparison of the T125 to modern F1 cars. You do know that the car in this video is not an actual F1 car right? The T125 is a track car based on an F1 car that anyone with enough money can buy. It doesn't have an F1 engine or gearbox. It has a 3.5L engine with 640 bhp that revs just over 10 000 rpm with a 6 speed gearbox and can only do 186 mph. A current 1.5L v6 turbo F1 car would be faster than a T125 around a track.
the stig seemed really uncomfortable
probabaly because the track is too small for that kind of car

go and watch the grand tour then?

@@hu2tait374 Bottas nuked everyone, so it’s rather irrelevant.
Clarkson makes a pretty good point about tyre temperature and soft compounds. You wouldn’t really think about the fact that it would require a few laps just to get some temp in, for 1 lap.
Reminds me of a clip of Senna demonstrating his skills behind the wheel of a kart for a TV show in Japan. He spent the first part of his session driving around the track in the opposite direction because he needed temp in the tires, then once he finished his warmup lap, he whipped right around and gunned it. The difference in pace was stark.
New reasonably priced car??
@anonymous for basically an f1 car...
Bryan Masis dude a real f1 car is worth 30 million

Definitely Alesi. They mention time and time again that most F1 drivers take the first corner wide, and the same applies here. Ben always took a tighter line if you watch some of his power laps.
Räikkönenfanbenny Collins was sacked when this was made
Nope Susan Boyle
It was actually desgined with the help of a driver from GP2 Series, and he says it has ALOT more grip then a GP2 car, also it has Ground Effect!

And now the TH-camr Casey Putsch owns this exact car! For those who don't know who he is, he runs a non profit called Genius Garage that allows engineering students to design, develope, and test race cars to get hands on with their education in a very fun and rewarding environment.
I knew I wasn’t the only one who came here to discuss that!
He built a real Batmobile too.
British humor is the greatest. I love you guys.
As you can see stig is born for this
The actor for the stig is an F1 driver and as you can see… the F1 not only made stig adaptable but crushed a few records
Actually the grooves also provided a greater transition period into Intermediates from Dry weather tyres, so there was a safety benefit there - that said, it also limited the cornering speed significantly which I believe was the main issue.
But you're definitely right about the time gain with slicks! What I'd give to see an F2004 on slicks...
Could you?. Many try. Few succeed. The power to weight ratio is unbelievable...and scary for most
imagine having a TV show and you could ask someone like Lewis Hamilton or Fangio to drive whatever car you wanted to talk about lol
Sounds almost like a Cosworth DFV! Amazing sound!

Sadly it was raining! We;ll, fuck me, it's England. Thanks for deporting my G-g-g-g-g-g-g-grandad to the penal colonies. It's been sunshine, surf and paradise ever since!
i want to see sting on RB7 :)
Nice lap Michael
Dayum he carved Gambon like a scalpel.
He crashes less than Maldonado
That’s not hard
The 59 second lap Renault is in a completely different league to the current F1 cars which have 150 less horsepower, plus the T125 is on a par with GP2 and Formula Renault 3.5 cars.
That was nice
The way he just pushes the car. Hollyshit man
That´s so amazing! Those F1 cars are so fast! In my opinion, it´s so impressive, that they´re about 45sek faster than the supercars like Lambo and so on!!!
It's more like 20ish seconds faster, but impressive nonetheless :)

Disappointed
hello-iwe never seen a car go that fast -thanks 4 t vid
thoses were much definitely words
Still the best Top Gear commentators. Miss the original series. Clarkson irreplaceable!
The 2006 Renault had a V10 (V8 I think in this car) . Also more down-force due to the FIA wanting to slow the cars down. (2009 regulations were changed)
The 06 Renault had a V8, As per the regs. 2009 rule changes were to make it easier to follow another car without a massive aero drop off not to slow the cars down.
Yeah, but the Renault that was on the show was a 2005...Faster than a 2006 car....
Jackson P.
cool story brotato
Calm down....
The 2006 Renault F1 had a 2.4L v8, as did every other car on the grid in 2006..
need me one of these
LOL at his face 0:23
The f1 car is super fast in top gear track.
...
it would be nice to see every driver from f1 take their car around the track and have a little competition, every team puts up 50,000 and the winner takes all and donates it to a charity.
Ahahah, that would have been really nice :)
Damn... that’s about as fast as the 2019 Williams!
FW42 was such a tractor… same for SF1000
Would love to hear Ben Collins thoughts on that wild machine
I’m just sitting on my couch in 2020 and I’m just wondering how uncomfortable the audience must be for just standing there and watching 3 dudes talk about cars for hours on end, like could top gear not afford to buy chairs😂😂
at least tgt got benches
Seriously, people need to stop moaning about the V6s. I was against it in the beginning, but after seeing the action the 2014 cars have provided; I'd rather have proper racing than noise.
I'd rather have proper racing AND noise!
V6 isn't the case, revlimiter is. And I don't see proper racing.
Epic, proper, incredible racing!!!.....between the two Mercedes cars.
Of course every now and again they fail and it makes for a good race
proper racing? i never knew seeing one team is proper racing yes sure Daniel has won 3 races but it is going to be hard for any other driver to win. yes sure that happened with the v8's not as much but it still happened but if they wanted to make it more interesting they should have put the turbo's in the v8's and the eers unit because they would be going faster and it wouldn't just be Mercedes winning and not just red bull.
DAVE0DENIS01 I don't mind it that much as long as both Mercedes have a good race, the problem is when Red Bull was on top Vetel was alone because Mark Webber would manage to lose even if he had a jet in there.
0:34 Little did Jeremy know that's what F1 was going to sound in the future

Would you buy this Lotus or the Enzo FXX, or P1 GTR ? I think all cost 1 million+ and you can't keep it at your garage

There's a guy i always see at my local track day with one of these. he twin turboed it... WHERE DOES HE PUT HIS BALLS!!!
i think this time is jean alesi.. look the work of the hands... and the head angle in the apex
I did this in Forza 6! I got 1:30.09 in the e23.
Nearly as slow as the reasonably priced car
:P
I'll give it a try myself.
55.9
this car is so much slower than the one in fm6
sounds like a GP2 engine, not much of an F1
Jeffrey Pluemjit because it isn't a f1 car,it's just designed like one
Jeffrey Pluemjit it is a GP2
It doesn't sound like a gp2 and it isn't a gp2.
The steering wheel looks like GP2 steering wheels as well.
But, it seems there's more downforce on the T125. From what Alesi mentioned about the car, it may be because they did put ground effect on this car.
There are more affordable engines available to build F1 cars of ten years ago. Judd v8 and v10s, and Cosworth v8 are used by private teams in BOSS GP series that make the same power as today. The advantage todays F1 is in Aero and the lighter weight of the package.
The F1 car is made for tracks like that
[insert vacuum cleaner joke about V6 F1 cars]
0:36 that's the sound of "GP2!"
GP2 is now Formula 2
Hard on the brakes!!!
People are forgetting the 2004 cars time around the top gear test track was set in damp conditions
It's obviously Michael Schumacher
