  • Bill shows you how to install and adjust the "Victory" trigger in your Keltec PMR30, CMR30, or CP33, and where you can avoid some common pitfalls and save yourself time and trouble during the rather long takedown process.
    IMPORTANT: A PMR30 was used in this video, but the install process is functionally identical across all three platforms. The only difference is the location and number of screws that hold the two halves of each model together.

    CMR-30 - IMPORTANT. I just finished this installation on a CMR-30 and watching this video was very helpful. However, there are some issues not addressed in this video you might find helpful and I almost wish I had the SS feed ramp upgrade to do it all together. It's handy to have a plastic spudger to open up the rear of the grip assembly after all screws are removed and a magnetic tray to hold all parts. I also found it handy to have my owners manual open to p.21 (breakdown page) during the installation. CRITICAL - The 6-32 BHCS screw (part 185) sitting just behind the safety selector is threaded through the plastic grip assembly into the metal frame (part 203) and upon re-installation of this screw, the plastic threads in the grip assembly prevented me from double-checking the match to the thread in the metal frame which resulted in a wonky thread that had to be cleaned out with a tap. Bill got lucky when he threaded this through in the video. This hole in the grip assembly should be bored out slightly to allow the screw to pass through and thread directly into the metal frame to prevent any chance of cross-threading.

    Use a heavy braid fishing line and make a big loop . Catch the hammer spring hook . Pull and seat on hammer spring dowel pin. Cut loop and pull out fishing line . One shot easy hammer spring install. Took me one try and two seconds.

    Glad to see the inside of this entire gun, the only other videos were just simple cleaning of the barrel area, etc. I really want a PMR30.

    I just installed the trigger, and both thumb rests. I thought I would share a much easier way to put the hammer spring back onto the frame pin as you requested in the video. I didn't have small enough curved pick tool and that spring is really stiff. The larger one i had would catch the spring end but trying to place it on the frame pin with that much spring tension was just not working. So i used 0.032" thick diameter safety wire and looped it onto the spring end and then looped it to a steel shelf in the garage. (any sturdy anchor point would work). So basically I made one big circle loop which catches the spring end and an anchor point. Make sure to wear safety glasses, and just pull the gun frame down and place the spring end on the frame pin. Super easy to pull it with two hands holding the frame. Just use a small wire cutter and snip the wire close to the spring end on one side (keep the other side long) and with needle nose pliers pull the safety wire out from under the spring end on the frame pin. Done and very little effort required.

    • @ernestyeun3482
      @ernestyeun3482 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I forgot to add I did at least 5 twists to safety wire to close the loop, and then wrapped the wire back over itself and did five more to make sure the circle loop when pulled did not unravel. Use any method you prefer to secure the safety wire loop end to prevent unravelling when pressure is applied to put the hammer spring back on.
      I hope this makes sense. Google safety wire twist and I thin kit will make more sense. I had safety wire pliers, but you don't have to have those to do it.

    I just finished installing this in my CP33, and took it out on my backyard range. Very nice.
    I need to make a strong suggestion to Tandemkross & a head's up to others before installing:
    Please put thread locker on the pre & post travel screws. The dry, yellow stuff that Magpul uses works well.
    I had everything installed and dialed in, no pre-travel. Very little post-travel.
    On a CP33, the post-travel screw has to be nearly screwed through the trigger, and has room to come all the way through and get lost. (It may be the CP33 should have a longer screw than the PMR30?).
    I identified it as an almost certain problem. So I put Loctite on it before finishing my install.
    The pre-travel screw sits up nearly into the frame, so that didn't seem to be an option.
    Took it out to shoot.
    After half a magazine the pre-travel screw had backed out and would no longer allow the trigger to reset.
    I managed to get some blue Loctite into the threads and reset it's placement where I like it. Now it's in the safe, drying.
    Providing the screws with thread locker would be a huge improvement.

    • @TANDEMKROSS
      @TANDEMKROSS  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We definitely recommend using some sort of thread locker with all our triggers, and this trigger in particular can be a little harder than others to get Loctite into the threads for the reasons you mentioned. So another option we often recommend is clear nail polish. It's not quite as permament as Loctite, but you can put it on after you get the screws where you want them and it will stand up to a day of shooting just fine. Lots of competition shooters use it instead of Loctite.
      We also have a whole video dedicated to adjusting pre-travel and post-travel. It came out before this trigger did, but it still has lots of useful info, including the nail polish thing: th-cam.com/video/v3wUleLlMX4/w-d-xo.html

      This was the only trigger install video I found or watched from Tandemkross. Maybe edit in a reference to the previous video you just mentioned?
      Or the need for thread locker in general?
      It wasn't mentioned in this video.
      My primary suggestion was for Tandemkross to ship their hardware with dry thread locker preinstalled. Like the yellow stuff that all of Magpul's hardware ships with. It works well and doesn't require gymnastics, or temporary work-arounds, on the part of the customer.

    Note: If you find that the trigger will not reset after switching the safety on and off, the pre-travel adjustment screw is out too far and there is too little pre travel. To fix, adjust the pre-travel set screw in about a1/2 turn at a time until the trigger will reset properly.

    are binary triggers for the cmr-30 a thing?

  • @kevincordell9539

    I bought this trigger for my CP33 and I can’t get the slide back on with the trigger installed. I put the stock trigger back and the slide snapped into place. I think the top of the trigger is too thick and I don’t have the equipment to shave it down to the same thickness as the original plastic trigger.
    UPDATE: I was able to get the TK trigger installed and the slide back on and function test the gun. All is well now, after disassembly and reassembly about 4 or 5 times. I had problems with the plastic feed ramp and slide catch/release. I see that MCarbo had a stainless steel feed ramp for the PMR30 but not the CP33 unless you do some filing. I also watched another video that suggested leaving the magazine release in place on the right side of the frame. That worked great! Also the trigger spring/post stayed in place on the left side of the frame, so I didn’t have to hassle reinstalling that. I haven’t taken the gun out to shoot yet, just ran about a 1/2 dozen snap caps through a magazine for function testing.

    I was able to get the trigger installed on my CP33 but after I reassembled, the slide stop flopped around and each time I shot the gun, the slide would lock back. I had to remove the trigger and send it back to Kel-Tec where they went through the gun and replaced just about everything internally, 1 new magazine and new magazine springs. I haven’t tried to reinstall the trigger as I am now afraid that a spring popped out when I opened up the clamshell to get at the trigger.

    • @TANDEMKROSS
      @TANDEMKROSS  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The leg of the slide lock spring fits into a small hole to secure it, it sounds like that was either not put in or the end popped free when putting the clamshell back together. Once it's together its impossible but it can be done during installation.

      I'd be interested to know, I know it's almost a year old, this comment, but I've heard of some people relieving feeding and rejection issues by loosening their bolts up a little on the frame due to it compressing and causing excess friction.

      @@mikestavisky8009 To be honest I don't know what the proper torque is. Tom's suggestion of "gutentight" is pretty much how I've always done it with these guns and I haven't had any feed/ejection issues. But if you are having issues and you want a cold hard number, Keltec themselves would probably know better than TK would.

      The install is very similar on the CP33, and on the CMR30. The only significant difference between the three of them is that the locations of the screws you need to remove to pull the frame apart aren't the same across each gun. Once you get the gun open, the internals are pretty much identical.
