Years ago my doctor prescribed Lipitor for a statin to reduce my cholesterol and triglycerides. Due to the cost of Lipitor, I petitioned my doctor to prescribe a generic statin instead. She insisted that I continue to use Lipitor. After the patent for Lipitor expired and drug companies could copy it, she had no problem with generic drugs. Learned later that Phizer was giving her perks like cruises and vacations to prescribe their drug. Follow the money.

My grandma and great grandma both lived long healthy lives and cooked from scratch mostly. They made pie crust and many baked goods with lard. They both saved and strained bacon fat to brown meat. People back then ate a lot of eggs, egg salad, omelets, quiche, etc The only sweets they consumed were homemade baked goods. Their beverages were coffee in the morning and tea throughout the day. Every time I watched them they were drinking water all the time and occasionally squeezed a little lemon in the water. Both were physically active into their 80’s. My grandma was up on a ladder cleaning gutters, mowing the lawn or shoveling snow.
Back then ladies hung laundry on a clothes line and gossiped by the fence or do you remember the old “party line” telephone connections ? You heard the best gossip that way.
Both avoided doctors like the plague.

Pro tip: If you want some coconut oil in your life, pick up a half-pound, $1.99 bag of organic unsweetened coconut chips at Trader Joe's. Low in sugars, very high in sat. fat, so much easier than splitting a whole coconut, super cheap and GREAT for snacking.

About 10 years ago I heard that margarine was not really food and I had suspected something funny going on with this strange stuff, so I put it to the test. It was either spring or summer when I placed a good dollop of margarine on one saucer and a good dollop of butter on another, then I placed them in my shed. Every so often I would check upon my experiment, and it was then that I noticed the flies were only landing and eating the butter. Not one fly did I see, or ever see on the margarine. After some more time, the butter was turning mouldy, (as it should do being made of real food), however the margarine remained the same, only slightly paler looking. I think I left my experiment going for a good year. In the end, the butter had completely disappeared, whereas the margarine remained with the same volume, only resembling Vaseline. I have heard that margarine has more in common with paint than any food!! Your channel is fascinating and very helpful for those who want to eat the correct and healthy food. . Thank you.

Margarine turns your body cells into plastic then your insulin can’t get into them to start your engine. Olive oil is healthy and it’s water soluble and will go into your cells. Butter is a healthy fat. Cholesterol is like a liquid Band-Aid in your body and plugs the holes up and keeps your brain safe. Do not take statin drugs to lower cholesterol. When i was pregnant, I developed diabetes. They asked me to take nutrition classes. I was in the room and the doctor that was telling us (about 13 women) she sounded pretty much like the reporter he is discussing. I knew about Keto already since I had just came off of it when I got pregnant (big mistake, I should have stayed) story short, by the end after giving us a diet to follow, 12 of those women ended up with insulin, and 1 (yes, that was me!) dropped her insulin levels by following Keto again, and I didn’t need insulin after all. The food pyramid is a lie, the food recommendations for diabetics patients is ALSO a lie! My mother is a full on diabetic and the doctor is still telling her she can eat rice beans and tortillas just in moderation. Believe it!

You are correct that stopping keto was what did it.
Being fat adapted over a long period of time on a keto diet means your body forgets how to manage carbohydrates. Suddenly switching would have been like throwing a none swimmer in the deep end of the pool and saying ’have fun’!
As you went on to find, there’s no reason a mother can’t carry whilst practising keto but anyone who plans to return to eating carbs either needs to include small quantities with their normal diet or do a stepped reintroduction over a long period of time.

I used to be tired of the constant need of eating and recommendations to "eat less but more often", and obviously to "avoid fat and count calories"... What a torture. On keto we can eat less, more substantial (fat) food and being free from hunger most of the time.

Half a year ago I was interested in the chemical formulas for sugar and fat and petrol and diesel and how it converts to CO2 when being burnt and how much energy in joule/cal this releases. I learned a lot the hard way by digging through several web pages, I learned how fatty acids are chained together into triglycerides. So I could calculate that roughly that 1kg fat + 3 kg oxygen burns to about 3 kg CO2 and 1 kg water by releasing 9000 kcal of energy. I found information that coconut oil consists a lot of medium chained acids that are considered good for health, but without an explanation.
You wrapped everything up in 5 minutes and added so much information about biology and about the things happening inside the body. This video was so enjoying for me to watch. It confimed my study was correct and you delivered so much additional information. The circle has closed - everything makes more sense, now.
(Only thing I missed was information about trans-fat-connections vs unsaturated ones; especially after you mentioned already margarine. And as you know, margarine is one molecule away from being plastic, haha :)
Thanks for all your effort for making those valuable content about health and for busting myths.

Excellent video. I've known a lot of that for years, but not nearly at that detail. Thank you so much. One elephant in the room that just occured to me is the use of the word "fat". It's kind of hard to push any-saturated "fat" as good vs carbs and sugar when obese people are referred to as "fat". I'm mostly paleo, but not rigid. I eat grass fed butter, some grass-fed half and half with coffee, parmesean cheese, but that's about it for dairy. One other irony about the tv reporter, was that she did not appear to be eating healthy and was notably overweight. Guess she follows government guidelines for her diet. FDA is evil by the way; bunch of paid off beaurocrats.

Giving mct oil to my mother in law has had a tremendous effect on my mother in law. She was uncommunicative staring into space and within about a day on MCT she was sitting up and chatting to her family.
On another subject I have ADHD and I have found MCT oil to be very helpful.

My mother cooked with coconut oil and she lived to 96 just because she slipped on the slippery bathroom floor with her carer not around, and nothing on the wall or chair to hold on to. Before accepting responsibility to keep an eye on elderlies make sure you know the danger signs in the bathroom, bedroom, stairs and doors, kitchen etc.

I’m just a high school graduate but I’ve learned a lot from your clear presentations. I’ve been diabetic for 15+ years, discovered low carb eating from several You Tube people but your channel helps me understand why my body works as it does as well as how. The Bible says we are fearfully and wonderfully made; I never connected with that til now. I appreciate your words about our bodies desire to keep us healthy and functioning well. I’m 77 and I hate that I’ve been a poor example to my family of good health habits, but perhaps as they see me gaining time alive, they’ll heed a warning about the American diet. Thank you ever so much.

Thanks for going into detail Doc Sten and educating us helping us make better choices. Ever since I have reduced carbohydrates in my diet, I have lost weight/body fat, not that I was fat or obese and now I feel much lighter when I go up a very steep hill that I use as part of a health guide. I go up now without panting and much faster and go further, ever since I drastically reduced sugars that is and added a bit of what is not recommended by the doctors likes this saturated fat, eggs, butter and so on. I must added, I do intermittent fasting too. Thanks once again :)
