Merseyrail 508127 & 507005 depart, via Bidston, for scrap on 3rd August 2023

A slight change with a weekday afternoon scrap move as 508127 & 507005 depart for the final time from the Merseyrail network passing through Bidston station, starting their journey to Newport for scrap. 508127 last worked in passenger service on Tuesday 25th July 2023, working the 1823 (2N49) from New Brighton to New Brighton, before running the short distance ECS (as 5D39) to Birkenhead North depot. 507005 last passenger working was on Saturday 22nd July 2023, working the 2206 (2S66) from Hunts Cross to Southport. It was stabled in the central sidings at Southport for a few days before heading ECS to Kirkdale depot on Tuesday 25th July and later the same morning worked 5B17 (1016) to Birkenhead North depot, for stripping and preparation for this scrap move. The following lists (in order) the 507/508 units withdrawn since December 2019; 508134, 508110, 507006, 508143, 508140, 508123, 507019, 508122, 507024, 507025, 507027, 507008, 508115, 507012, 507026, 507005 & 508127. The withdrawal of the 507/508s is planned to pick up pace over the remaining months of 2023, with 507009, 508138, 508126, 508128, 508111, 508117 & 508130 among the next to be withdrawn in the coming weeks.
