"worst trade in nfl history"
*deshaun watson peeks around the corner* - "y'all talking about me?"
You mean the guy with a winning record as a starter and had two very good performances against Tennessee and Baltimore last year? Nobody's pretending he's top five, but y'all seriously look dumb as hell trying to call that the worst trade in NFL history at this point.
@@chrisbruchak4519 when we examine playing time so far, amount of money paid, draft capital spent, and level of play he’s shown in Cleveland thus far - then yeah, it’s easily worse than the Russ trade.
@@guitarsbunch347 the broncos gave up arguably more than the browns did and they literally are so fed up with hin they just took a historical loss to send him packing. Deshaun was trending upward in cleveland last year before his injury. He gives even a fraction of that on a team that isnt missing 8 starters with season ending injuries, and youre gonna have a hard time not looking stupid. The "value" in both trades was virtually the same and one guy is looking for another team while the other is looking to expand on the improvements he made last year with his team. Its not even an argument.
@@guitarsbunch347
Also got rid of a good QB to sign Watson.
You all forgot about "The Saints sent all their 1999 draft picks and two of the first three picks in the 2000 draft for the fifth overall pick to select Williams."
The worst trade over Watson to CLE? Come on
This was the second worst trade in NFL history behind Herschel Walker to the Vikings. Deshaun Watson to the Browns may not be too far behind.
100% this. Could argue that the Deshaun Watson contract is worse. His cap hit the next 3 years is 63 million each year, and the Browns don’t have an out until at least 2026
For the Seahawks it wasn't :). Also, 26 TDs : 8 INTs ain't too shabby! The failure here was all on the Broncos, starting with the Hackett hire. They're a dysfunctional organization.
@@edwardsjohnpaul absolutely. The Seattle Seahawks won the trade.
Deshaun is the worst in probably in history, at least Wilson won some games.
As a Cowboys fan I think the Herschel Walker trade was really fair 👍
Broncos franchise got set back at least two years cause of this.
More than that 😂
Yep more, the 2 he played plus the impact of money that's going to tie them up next couple years.
At least two more years. On top of the two they've already been set back.
Two ? Bwahahahaha FIVE at the LEAST.... and trust this.. they will give up even more draft capital to move up this Year because that's what BADLY ran Organizations do... keep chasing and chasing. They should be building thru the Draft.. NOT giving away Five Years of Draft Capital. hahahahahahahahaha
Not if it means that they get an elite QB out of this sequence of events. Did your crystal ball take that into account?
It started with the subways commercial
Broncos country. Let's ride!!
Payton Benched him over his contract NOT his play. 26 touchdowns plus 3 rushing for a total 29 touchdowns, and only 8 Interceptions. Russell Wilson beat the Chiefs by FIFTEEN points, ending an eight year sixteen consecutive game losing streak. The other five games the Chiefs lost were by eight points or less…
Russ and the BRONCOS also beat playoff bound Packers, Bills, Browns, plus the Bears. Two of those teams the Packers and Bills also beat the Chiefs… Had they NOT benched Wilson, he would have beaten the Chargers for a second time, and won the last game against the Raiders too. The Broncos would have ended the season with winning record 9-7 instead…
Blaming Russell Wilson for his first season in Denver is not entirely his fault but rather the system. The Broncos shortcomings under Payton’s new regime was also NOT Wilson’s fault, he had ZERO run game support, and NO viable TE either. His only reliable receiver was Sutton, who defenses focused on and still managed to get him TEN touchdowns…
Russell Wilsons stat for the season was on par with the Super Bowl champion quarterback and the League MVP. He did not fail Denver, the BRONCOS failed him…
🤔
Excellent point and great analysis. I agree that Russell Wilson did his part and carried a bad team in Denver without decent skills positions. They just wanted to blame him because it’s an easy narrative to broadcast.
The thing is Denver didn’t pay him to be good, they paid him to be elite. Saying “he had moments last year” wasn’t enough. The Broncos biggest mistake was acquiring him to begin with, as he was no longer elite when he was traded
There was a video from NFL earlier about this. The secret was: Russell Wilson was never TRULY elite. Seattle surrounded him with a LOT of pieces to basically hide him.
Russ was working with people trying to thwart him, including the coach. Not even Russ can carry that.
Yeah I don't get what people don't understand about this, he's paid to be a top QB in the league, not a game manager with okayish stats.
Agreed
He was never elite to begin with. During the two super bowl appearances with the Seahawks he was largely a game manager carried by a strong defense and run game.
So many people are pointing out that Russell just doesn’t work with Payton. Maybe the guy who only cost 18mil/year and nothing against the cap and significantly downgraded the defence is the one who should have been fired. What’s better, Sean Payton and Stidham or Mike Vrable and Wilson and the ability to pay people that are actually playing for you. Maybe Payton is more the product of Drew Brees than he is a good head coach.
Yet he could not do it before Sean came either. Payton expects a lot. Wilson got used to being babied by Seattle. It was just not ever going to work.
@@1packatakSP is a joke and shows it.

What’s better, Sean Payton and Stidham or Mike Vrable and Wilson, and the ability to pay people who are actually playing for you. Maybe Payton is more the product of Drew Brees than he is a good head coach. Gotta love how they always bring up his TD-INT ratio but ignore how he led the league in fumbles and sacks. Wilson’s situation is a double-edged sword where teams can acquire him, but teams can also release him with minimal impact on those teams. Teams have control and can make demands. Wilson has no leverage. Teams will not guarantee a starting position and probably make Wilson compete for the QB position. POST THE TOP 100 THROWS That has got to be one of if not the worst deal in NFL history. Payton will run this team into salary cap hell like he did New Orleans Now the pressure is on Sean Payton to have a winning season without Russell. That won't be easy. And if the Broncos are around .500 at midseason, that's no improvement, what then? Tampa with Wilson would be amazing with this deep ball and Evans Chris Godwin let's go to play-off I wouldn't pay Russ QB market money on my team, but for vet minimum while Denver pays the guarantees, who says no who needs a QB? He needs to go to the Jets or Giants Why wasn't George Paton released? lol, here we go. RW isn’t winning games for teams. He may not lose them but he’s not a starter, leading QB. RW beat the Chiefs when the 8:30 PM had the flu and the Broncos fans were calling for his trade throughout the game lol. Clueless ownership wanting to make a splash...Can't wait to see how David Tepper exceeds this... What stupid logic, Russ isn't good enough to get a team to the playoffs at this point in his career, yeah he's going to be cheap but you'd be paying Baker 40M to actually get you to the playoffs, it has nothing to do with Baker being 10x better... I don't know how some of these people have jobs in this industry. It’s not Russell and Broncos, it’s Russel and Payton that’s the bad match. Kyle has been wanting this to happen lmao. All he does is bash Russel for his play and has been for years. Pathetic
10 FUMBLES!!!!!! To the Raiders.??? In line with Jimmy G Let’s ride lol was in 2023 long ago to the
Go Vikings. Russ is finished!!! DRAFT JJ MCCARTHY I think people are missing the amount of leverage Russell has. He can sign a multi-year contract with another team and backload the money. I imagine Russell signing a three-year contract with another team for 60 to 65 million dollars, but only 40 million guaranteed. In the first year, he makes the league minimum of 1.5 million at the new team. The Broncos will pay him the other 37.5 million dollars. In the second year, Russell makes 40 million from the new team. They will effectively be paying 20 million per year for a Super Bowl quarterback for three years and they can always choose not to exercise the third year. And from Russ's perspective, his pay is exactly the same as if he was playing out his contract in Denver. I blame this whole mess on the general manager. He is the one to blame in my opinion I forget his name off the top of my head that's how Unforgettable his tenure at Denver has been but it is not Rust Wilson's fault. I don't particularly care for Sean Peyton blame that George Paton is his name he engineered all this and it just didn't work out and it caused a lot of problems with my team the Denver Broncos. thankful to be a Chiefs fan lol The best thing about the 2 years for Russ in Denver, the Chiefs went back-to-back. Not even a Chiefs fan, but that's just salt in the wound for Denver as the Chiefs now have more rings than the Broncos Payton Benched him over his contract NOT his play. 26 touchdowns plus 3 rushing for a total of 29 touchdowns, and only 8 Interceptions. CAROLINA ....CMon with it. The trade worked out for the Cowboys lol Vikings go get this guy and draft JJ or Jaden for backup! The Broncos traded for Wilson and said they were not only going to make the playoffs but possibly the Super Bowl. That is the only reason you give up that much talent. Instead, they went 5-12 with Wilson only winning 4 games (the backup went 1-1). The problem was that the Broncos were a below-average team and Wilson was not (or no longer?) an elite QB. In 2023, they beat a couple good teams but lost to a host of bad teams. When they needed a win to make the playoffs, Wilson could not deliver and got benched. Seattle had the winning formula with Wilson: run, strong defense, and let Wilson make a few key plays (and limited mistakes). Ravens like guys like Russ. I think he goes to the Raiders or Bucs I blame this whole mess on the general manager. He is the one to blame in my opinion I forget his name off the top of my head that's how Unforgettable his tenure at Denver has been but it is not Rust Wilson's fault. I don't particularly care for Sean Peyton blame that George Paton is his name he engineered all this and it just didn't work out and it caused a lot of problems with my team.
His image took a hit because away from the chronically ignored PNW, you finally started paying attention 😂
Oh please. Seattle has 3 super bowls to go before this even touches Herschel Walker
It’s amazing George Paton still has a job
Tampa with Wilson would be amazing with this deep ball and Evans Chris Godwin let's go to play off
Wilson per the stats was the 8 best rated QB last year. They are paying for him the next two years, you really think they will find a better QB for this coming year? Watch he'll have a great year in Pitts.
I guess Pete Carrol knew something two years ago that maybe, we did not know? But now we do!
Can’t believe how badly the Broncos have done in signing Russ to beat Mahomes, how badly the Raiders have done in hiring McDaniels to beat Mahomes, and how badly the Chargers have done with Staley/Lombardi to beat Mahomes.
Still, Raiders and Chargers never gave up that draft capital.
AP beat the Chiefs
Never gave up that draft capital but drafted guys with that draft capital that are utterly useless, so it's not like that matters.
Denver beat the chiefs though.
I blame this whole mess on the general manager. Once again "Russells" on "EVERYBODYS LIPS"! And living rent free in Their Minds!

Wilson has no leverage. Teams will not guarantee a starting position and probably make Wilson compete for the QB position.
Gotta love how they always bring up his TD-INT ratio but ignore how he led the league in fumbles and sacks.
The best thing about the 2 year stretch for Russ in Denver, the Chiefs went back to back. Not even a chiefs fan, buts that just salt in the wound for Denver as the chiefs now have more rings than the broncos
As a broncos fan, I don't care who has more rings, the team wasn't competitive, it would only hurt if their time of dominance prevented Denver from getting a ring.
The Broncos traded for Wilson and said they were not only going to make the playoffs but possibly the Super Bowl. That is the only reason you give up that much talent. Instead, they went 5-12 with Wilson only winning 4 games (the backup went 1-1). The problem was that the Broncos were a below average team and Wilson was not (or no longer?) an elite QB. MANAGEMENT The broncos MANAGEMENT... Remember they made the contract up and offered it to Russell Wilson...
POST THE TOP 100 THROWS
They did Russell Wilson dirty
.....That lady knew exactly how many days Kim and that one NBA nobody dated......Sad world we live in
Love you Russell Wilson! Best to you! You still have what it takes!
You didn't watch Russell Wilson play, then. He was only concerned with stats. He wouldn't throw the ball if it wasn't completely open. Plus, he completely lacked mid-range game, and wouldn't throw in the middle. He always bailed very early from the pocket because he couldn't see over over lines men. And he always ran into sacks. He didn't even have the speed any more to outrun anyone. And he constantly fumbled the ball.
Seattle Seahawks are geniuses
Clueless ownership wanting to make a splash...Can't wait to see how David Tepper exceeds this...
Why wasn't George Paton released?
Walker, Watson, Willson in that order for worse trades ever. Russ just seems worse because it is just blowing up now, Deshaun is still an ongoing disaster but time will show that was way worse than Russ to Denver. As for Hershel Walker - you would have to try really hard to beat that 😂
Russ was worst for all Denver gave up and the money. Biggest dead cap hit ever. $85 million.
Watson hasn't lived up to expectations at all in Cleveland, he has been nothing but a shadow of what he used to be. The only reason he wins games is because the defense bails them out.
Financially, by far the Wilson trade was the worst.
@@Prodigal1 not sure I would agree with that, Watson has provided nothing to the Browns and is still getting paid top dollar for years to come due to the full guarantee. You can say what you want about Wilson but at least he was out there playing every game.
@@IanRobinson2yt his salary hit if cut not like Wilson’s is it? Not sure but don’t think so!
i wouldnt pay russ QB market money on my team, but for vet minimum while Denver pays the guarantees, who says no who needs a QB?
Payton will run this team into salary cap hell like he did New Orleans
Man only throws for 200 yards a game in an era where it’s been the easiest to get passing yards ever it’s not all about tds and int
This show is a joke : "Yes but the other QBs were in bad situations"
Wanna talk about Denver last year with Hackett ? Can you not hide facts so your graph can fit the narrative please ? Hackett was the worst coach ever. When he got fired, the team played well the two last games, and it went on this year. Like the clock managment only and the lack of constant delays of games was pure bliss compared to the year prior. Don't get me wrong : Russell played badly year one, but the overall system was atrocous. Even now players are saying that the Jets are a mess offensively. And who's the OC ? Oh, yes, Nathaniel Hackett... Weird.
Are you not even gonna explain why they benched him ? Cause of the injury close... It made perfect sense after the playoffs were out of reach. "NFL experts".
Signing Wilson to a five year contract, for a has-been, was the big mistake. Whoever did that should be on the curb.
Patrick was real sick that day the broncos beat the chiefs
If you quarterback can't play with a cold he doesn't belong in the NFL😂
What's your excuse for losing to the raiders?
He needs to go to the Jet’s or Giants
I think people are missing the amount of leverage Russell has. He can sign a multi-year contract with another team and backload the money. I imagine Russell signing a three year contract with another team for 60 to 65 million dollars, but only 40 million guaranteed. And from Russ's perspective, his pay is exactly the same as if he was playing out his contract in Denver.
So he can’t get no new money?
Problem: Russ is dogshit and can't lead a team to the playoffs because his speed isn't there anymore. Don't listen to the Next Gen stats claiming he hit the fastest speed of his career last year, they didn't even track speed back when he was competing in the playoffs with the LoB
The trade worked out for the cowboys lpl
lol here we go. RW isn’t winning games for teams. He may not lose them but he’s not a starter, leading qb. RW beats the Chiefs when PM had the flu and the broncos fans were calling for his trade throughout game lol.
CAROLINA....CMon wit it.
Maybe worst trade, but Deshaun Watson is the worst contract, hands down.
I think he goes to the raiders or bucs
It's not that shocking really. Russ was not getting it done, there was attitude and lack of "Captain" materials. Who wants that next season???
Vikings go get this guys and draft JJ or Jaden for backup!
Sam Howell to the Broncos.
So when will the Broncos put up a banner for that win over the Chiefs? lol 😂
They need to beat the Raiders first 😅
They don’t need it lol. Because even with denver have 10 years of mediocrity them bum chiefs still barely matched their back to back superbowl wins. And excluding one from when the merger just happened the chiefs are only tied with Denver lol. That’s honestly bad considering their dominance during this period. Denver can be bad for the next 3 years, if jones walks the chiefs can’t pay anyone lol.
And the raiders? Are you kidding me lol. They’ve been a laughing stock longer than Denver. Their last game at their real home will forever be a loss to the broncos. That L alone is worth 10 years.
Denver shouldn't sign some certified bum to be their qb. Draft Nix if still available ok.
@@kenshelle1 Exactly and the Raiders have cursed them for the past 4 years when they play each other.
@@LiamDeege Chiefs win streak over the Raiders 0. Raiders win streak over the Broncos 8. Nuff said 😂
Seahawks gotta be laughing all the way to the bank
Laughing all the way to losing the playoffs every year with a QB not good enough to win a SB. All it does is prop their team up longer and screws their draft position year after year, the only way you don't waste all the capital Denver gave them is if you tried to find Geno's replacement, they haven't done that, they doubled down on Geno like idiots.

Broncos draft Bo Nix!
I think the broncos have been horrible since they got their new owners, theyve just been spending money"not very smartly" and trading away all their early draft picks and decent players. Their clowns that think like business ppl because they are business ppl
As a Seahawks Fan I am glad he's released from Broncos. He don't need a coach like Payton. I wish you well Russell Wilson #3. #GoHawks 💚💙
Why tf did they cut him?
Russ had a statistically fair season. Am I missing something?
Sean Payton flat out hates him-not necessarily because of his personality but because of his playing style. And no, he can't make that work.
21st in QBR. You actually have to watch the games and not just look at his TD:INT
Cause you don't pay elite money for a QB to be statistically good. You have to play at an elite level. IMO you can't pay a QB elite money to be a B+ QB. You have to be at least an A- and he wasn't even close.
Plus apparently no one in the locker room liked him and that includes Seattle
@@hotsauce256yeah I don't get what people don't understand about this, he was given top money to be able to be used as an elite QB, not as a game manager with decent-ish stats.
This has been the worst deal in history. Gave up too much in the trade. Gave him too big of a payday when he hadn't thrown a snap. Idk why Payton chose to come into this situation. Whoever picks him up is getting a decent deal. Good placeholder for near veteran minimum cause you know Russ wants to start still.

I’m so confused on what they’re doing here.
In line with jimmy
Russell Wilson made his bed now he has to sleep in it he’s going to look back and regret leaving a good thing in Seattle
Nathaniel Hackett and Sean Payton two different coaches both just didn't fit Russell Wilson
Russ needs to go on club shay shay
It’s Ciara fault
The Broncos worse decision was hiring Sean Payton. Russ will move on to a better team and win 1-2 more SuperBowls. That team will be the one who stands behind Russ 100%. Not like the Bronc-F-ups.
That has got to be one of if not the worst deal in NFL history.
It’s not the worst trade in NFL history the Herschel Walker one was my phone away the worst trade Herschel Walker did nothing for the Vikings the Vikings got nothing of benefit from them and it said that franchise back for 6-7 years Kyle Brandt doesn’t know what he’s talking about
To the Raiders.???
Sean Payton needs implement some kind of bonus scheme.
thankful to be a chiefs fan lol
One day Chiefs will be laughing stock when Mahomes retires ok. TB12 & Patroits same thing ok. Hard to replace legends specially at qb position.
