Russell Wilson was a 'monumental organizational blunder’ by Broncos | Pro Football Talk | NFL on NBC

“One of the greatest coaches of all time” Is bananas!!!!!!
Turned it off at that point. Ridiculous.
Check the number of losing seasons, highly overrated
What has he done without Brees?
@@tonosi0290 preaching to the choir…….and quiet as it’s kept, the saints did as well as they would’ve without him. Though Dennis Allen won’t get much credit lol
exactly
How does the general manager still have a job?
Good question!
Either personal friends with ownership, or the owner's ego is too large to admit their colossal mistake in hiring him.
Not to mention trading away yet another 1st to bring in Sean Payton in effort to revive Russ
The GM brokered the trade but implored the ownership group to wait before signing him to a new contract. They probably wished they listened to him.
@@Hailtothe303who reported this again? Knew i heard of this
Don’t get wrong i am not a fan of Wilson but Chris is being overly generous when he talks about Payton. He has to take a good share of the blame. He was hired to fix Russ. It wasn’t Russ who conceded 70 points against the Dolphins. Payton is an above average coach. He’s not a great coach as Chris mentioned
Well that’s what happens when Wilson walked into the joint thinking he was the king, he lost that entire locker room the previous year. I bet the whole team threw a party to celebrate Wilson being released.
Russ was never broken. But I agree with your sentiments on Payton, and Pete Carroll for that matter. Pete finally paid the price for all of his blunders, including wasting Russ’s prime trying to recreate a lab accident. Mahomes is having the type of success most people thought Russ would have. If that second Super Bowl ends differently, the LoB doesn’t turn on Russ and they probably go on to win 3 or four rings. How differently would Russ be viewed if he had just won that second ring? He was A reason for the first Super Bowl. If they had won the second, there would have been no question that he was THE reason.
@@waynesonneman7343: I don’t think so. Russ has guys on that team who are going to miss him, and Payton has used up any “abuse currency” he might otherwise have had going forward. If he ever remotely treats another player the way he treated Russ, Payton may receive a response he doesn’t like much. He needs to avoid being PJ Carlisimo.
@@DeCurtaRicanagree about second SB. Probably worst play call I’ve ever seen. Had potential to be a dynasty and team were very young back them so could have had a few more in them. Just think Wilson is being scape goatee by Payton. Some of the media make Payton out to be the messiah but he missed play offs 3 straight years with Brees in his prime and being paid as if he has Belichicks record
agreed. Alot of these Analysts sure love to ride Sean Payton. Broncos were pretty much playoff bound after their hot streak. They then lost to the Patriots, but Sean Payton had one of the worst coaching/play calling against the patriots. Dude didn't even challenge the Guaranteed touchdowns on the goal line. Payton was run heavy the whole game til the 4th when he then wanted Russ to do something.
I like Payton but I wouldn't go so far to call him one of the greatest offensive minds of all time.
he is tho
He’s friends with Simms and Florio and it shows. He’s more overrated than anything else
Damn so when all is said and done Wilson will have made $111,000,000 just from dead cap money from both Seattle and Denver!?! That’s crazy!
Wish i could make 110 mil for doing nothing
😂😂
I’d take 10% and bf set…
I guess they all "Let Russ Cook"!
That's not how his contact works.
Sean Payton’s résumé is no better than Mike McCarthy’s, but we talk about Payton like he’s a guru.
Will Sean Payton bear any responsibility for the Broncos’ performance next season, or will that be blamed on Russell Wilson’s contract?
Blamed - he bought himself 3 years for a rebuild
I mean 88M in dead cap money is kind of a good excuse. Not one coach in history has had to build a team with that amount of dead money
@@meluvweed420420the falcons just felt with 85 million in dead money and the head coach was still fired.
It’s been a while and I’m forgetting.. which position did Russ play when Dolphins put up 70 on them? 😂
Not defense.
Well the way people talk up Wilson, he should have been able to score 71 and win that game so yep still on Wilson.
3 and outs all first half. watch the game
@@dlarta7265 I've seen every game he played for the Hawks. He has done 3 and out for entire first half in half a dozen games over the 9 years. I've seen Brady do the same thing. It happens. Look at his stats compared to the other starting quarterbacks in 2023. For the whole year, Wilson was a solid A-lister. He was 1st in 4th quarter comback wins. He was in the top 10 in almost all important catagories including TD/INT. And he ranked 8th in Passer rating for the enitre year despite the fact that he got benched by Payton. Any sane team that needs a starting QB should be excited to have him, particularly since he will only cost 1.7M per year for the next 2 years. No rookie draft pick is going to match that.
@@waynesonneman7343 Nope. It was his responsibility to score 71? Get stuffed.

The funny thing is Broncos and Payton, especially, acting like they didn't know what kind of QB Wilson is, he needs a game based on defense and running game, and let's be honest, Payton never liked him, never wanted him, never adjusted his system to Wilson, well just enough to say: I tried and he just wasn't good, is his fault
Mike needs to ask Chris to lend him his lighting man……IMHO, the current setup tends to make Mike look unnecessarily cadaverous…..
Cadaverous is my favourite word of 2024 thus far.

The Broncos and Russell Wilson: "This is one of the greatest organizational blunders in history."
The Browns and Deshaun Watson:
"Hold My Beer."
Rip to all the broncos fangirls who were talking about winning a super bowl after the trade happend lmao
I'm an Broncos fan but I knew as soon as that bad trade happened....I knew we were not going any where but the bottom of the league......dumb trade.....he was not worth anything near a first rounder let alone 2
I think you guys are very wrong about Russ. Sean Payton riding the coattails of one Super Bowl win off an elite quarterback for far too long
These guys blaming Russ for not adjusting his contract is wild...You agreed to the contract, don't blame the guy for looking out for his own interest. You made your bed now you have to lay in it
He's not being blamed for refusing to adjust his contract. He's being blamed for the gaslighting and victim-posing he did when the natural consequences of that refusal came home to roost. And that's only what we saw. It was undoubtedly going on in the locker room as well.
@@charlesfaure1189 I’m not sure what “natural consequences” means but Russ was absolutely the victim in this situation. He beat the Chiefs and then gets his playing time threatened unless he alters his contract…how is that his fault in any way?

We all need people to carry water for us like Payton has Florio and Simms doing work for him.
Wilson was(by statistics) the 8th best quarterback last year. Payton is nuts to do this.
The Broncos miscalculated badly on Wilson. It's not his fault Denver was desperate enough to pay him that much money. ALL of us would've taken that multi-million-dollar deal!! 😀
If Russ would have accepted the moving of the 2025 guarantee back a year, then Sean Payton was ready to start running a lot of zone read plays with Russ for the rest of the year, but that has more injury potential.. Its what Russ can do, but the Broncs couldn't risk that...
Sean Payton is basically Doc Rivers living off that one championship thanks to Drew Brees.

Doesn't Future live in Atlanta? Might be awkward. Seems like a potentiality good football fit, though
Red zone offense was terrible that is on Sean Payton
Guess we will see what the league things of Russ over the next two years and see if SP was the demise or if Russ just wasnt very good.
It was funny. They never scored a TD after gettt a short field turnover. Most of their TDs came from full field drives
Disagree.
Redzone Offense REQUIRES the QB correctly read the defense pre-snap and make almost instantaneous decisions post snap to enable success, and Russ just ain't that guy.
@@goldenbear8250 that's exactly why they kept to the run, run, half assed play action, Russ makes a magical play. Gtfoh. They never had a good scheme that wanted to try a score. Payton just runs his schedule. No matter what side of the field

Please show where he's blown the equivalent of several 3-1 leads
@ced9938 well he did get suspended for a full season which is a first for a coach. The only time he's won more than one play off game is the season they won the superbowl. Both have great regular season record but under perform in the playoffs.

Everything you mentioned is chrome on a car. Look under the hood & you'll see his QBR # in 2023 was 50.7 - #21 in the league and worse than Joshua Dobbs (who made a heck of lot less money). That tells you how effective he was at playing quarterback.
@@robertdickson9319 It is quite clear that by this point QBR is essentially a meaningless Nerd stat.
I mean, Mahomes has a QBR of 63.4(supposedly 8th best QB in 2023) compared to Purdy's 72.8 for the #1 position? CJ Stroud was the #15 ranked QB?(way too low). Darek Carr was ranked #16?(much too high). Kenny Picket is the #27 ranked QB?(way, way too low).
Essentially, QBR is much too team performance reliant. C'mon Man! I'm sorry, the QBR stat just doesn't pass the smell test.
@@Zayphar Football in general is the ultimate team game. Every stat is reliant upon the performance of the players on your team. Purdy had a much better season than Mahomes thanks to having better receivers. Nothing too outrageous about that. Stroud isn't higher because he is not much of a runner. Carr had a better statistical year than Wilson & was sacked less often. Pickett isn't good - not sure why you think otherwise. Wilson had a good TD - INT ratio but he did not play the position well which is reflected in the QBR - regardless of whether its a "nerd" stat or not.
@@robertdickson9319 Picket's team isn't good. The Steelers have already said(before Wilson became available) that they were going to have Picket play the whole year as the #1 QB. I don't see Mike Tomlin throwing away an entire season on a hopless QB. Tomlin has said that he believes that Picket can do the job if he is given a chance. Coach after coach has come back after seeing Picket play that he has the makings of a good QB if he gets the right support and a chance.
And as I said before, both the stats and my eyeball assesment is that Wilson is still an excellent QB(when he isn't being sabotaged by Payton).
4 or 5 of their games were lost by the defense making dumb late hits, or they mismanaged the clock badly. And Russ wasn't given much to work with later in the season, can't keep a small QB in the pocket when his best skill is seeing down field and getting off on bootlegs to the outside.
All Russell needs is a top two defense and Marshawn Lynch, and people will mistake him for a great QB again. I keep seeing comments about how Payton is a poor coach, but those commentors fail to mention that it was Payton who enabled Wilson to put up those misleadingly decent numbers in 2023. Nobody ever said you gotta be smart to be a football fan.
He could just sprawl out on the couch, guzzling beer, burping and watching pro wrestling for all of 2024, and still get paid eight figures. Crazy!
Sean Payton is one of the greatest coaches of all time? Did he just say that? 😂
Sean Payton kept kicking the can down the road for the Saints when it came to the Saints salary cap issues and bailed when it came time to pay the bill. Now in Denver he has to deal with $85 million in dead cap for two seasons. This has to be one of the best examples of football karma.
Payton scheme was more important than playing to Russell's strength
Good call on "strength" - not "strengths" - He is a one trick pony that can't hang in the league today.
I agree with you. The biggest ego in the room was Sean Payton.
Russ just isn’t that good
What strengths? Sucking bad at playing QB?
What strength, kissing babies, giving corny interviews or his fake personality?
It boils down to how bad do you have to be to have somebody pay you $85 million to NOT play for them?
They had Russell Wilson Nike gear on sale in Meijer(a superstore like Target/Wal Mart/etc) in Indianapolis 😂
Wow, there has been over $100+ million in dead money because of Russ. That should speak volumes in itself.
Worst trade in NFL history? At least since Herschel
Remember that Russell Wilson went to the Seahawks OWNER DEMANDING that Pete Carroll AND John Schneider be fired
Unsure if that news is true or not?
No disrespect to either of the host Sean Payton had a 70 piece put on him. That wasn't Wilson's fault. The money he signed for it wasn't his responsibility to rework. Did he say lead and offense like Brees who has one Super Bowl win and appearance while Russ has two appearances and one win. Simms let's be honest has a little bias in him and that's ok we all do but he needs or should say that upfront because he has a relationship with certain coaches and he tends to side with them despite them making mistakes
There was a battle among teams to land him. Most of the press called it wrong, when they overvalued Wilson's contribution to the Seahawks and downplayed Carroll's. Wilson wasn't what most people thought he was.
Rodgers, Wilson, and Watson have all blown up like dynamite in the new teams face. All of those trades have set the team back many many years.
atleast browns have made the playoffs in that time span even with Watson and Chubb on ir
and their not set back at all, GM Andrew berry has been such a wizard with the salary cap
Rodger’s actually gave up what was it close to 35 million. He actually cared to help out his new team unlike washed up Wilson.
Sean Payton failed. Blamed previous coaching staff and he did worse. And he gets to scapegoat others which is his specialty.
Lmao Russell Wilson is finished, bro just admit it
Its possible two things can be true snowflake. I didn't say Russ was the guy. I just called Payton out of being a snake and hypocrite. Defend someone who deserves it.@@adamant5550
God the more you hear Simms talk, particularly after Florio “attempts” to talk football, the more you see how far and away Simms is as an analyst. Florio really doesn’t know shit. All the stuff Simms talked about and referred to and all the points he made, Florio would never and has never noticed that stuff. He watches football like a casual fan, even though he’s been a “football analyst” for over 20 years. Insanity
Sorry Chris, Sean Payton is far from being one of the best coaches of all time. And in my mind, he is barely in the top 10 of the league now...Denver just didn't give Wilson enough to succeed... When your #1 receiver is Courtland Sutton, you are not helping a QB to succeed..
So which was worse, the Russell trade or hiring a coach who refuses to coach a player that costs the team a fortune in dead money? Seems to me that the Broncos coaching highers are the crux of this whole dilemma. I hope Russ tears it up with his next team. The dude still has juice in this league.
Russ isn’t good and Payton had nothing to do with that contract
Russ can’t read a defense or pass over the middle. All he could do was run around and play sandlot football which he did well while he was young. Now he’s just a stat padder in garbage time.
The thing that most of my fellow Broncos fans forget is we lost at least 3 games because of dumb defensive penalties in the final 2 minutes of games, and also helped ourselves lose at least 2 more due to other dumb things late in games. So Russ actually could have a better record here, but like I keep saying you can't keep a small QB in the pocket and it seemed like the last half of the year they were trying to keep Russ in the pocket to negate his best skills.
The former owners got hundreds of millions more to sell the team with a QB who had a ring on the roster, and the new owners hired a big name in Sean Peyton hoping he could turn around the franchise with a GM who doesn't seem to have much of an eye for talent after Elway had no eye for talent for years outside of Justin Simmons.
Most good or great coaches produce their game plan around the skill set of their QB. He doesn’t just say here is what to do and how to do it. Even if you have never done it that way we want you to do this. Russ isn’t Drew Brees. Payton knows this. He has seen Russ play in Seattle. I think after this year coming up
Sean Payton’s seat might start to get warm. Just saying.
Russ is to busy praying before the play to call an audible
funniest i've read so far
I don't understand why everyone thinks Sean Payton is such a great coach consistently under achieved
You can call Russ decision a bust in hindsight but at the time, Russ was coveted and still winning a lot of games despite being "held back" by Pete. In reality, Pete was a great coach and knew how to get Russ to perform beyond his capabilities. Had Russ stayed with Pete, he would be a lock for the Hall. His two bad seasons in Denver means no yellow jacket for Russ.
Folks Russel Wilson was at best a 3rd round pick, then the Legion of Boom won a Super Bowl and he just happened to be the quarterback. Seahawks offence was about handing the ball to Marshawn Lynch, not Russel Wilsons Arm.
Y'all acting like this guy put up Kerry Collins season numbers and just happened to win games.. It's wild.
RUSSELL WILSON HAD A GREAT SEASON 24 TD AND 7 INT WITH NO LINE AND A COACH WHO HATED HIS GUTS! 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
So $1.16M per touchdown 😂
He had a terrific offensive line. You don’t know what you’re talking about. All you people just tell on yourselves with comments like this. We know you don’t watch football, you just watch box scores.
Russ always has a bad offensive line because of Russ. He can’t stand in the pocket and read a defense. He bails out too fast. The sacks are on Russ.
Yes and no. The former owners aquired him to get a couple extra hundred million dollars in the teams sale months later so they won, the problem is the Penners want employees like Wal-Mart employees who keep their heads down and don't bite the hand that feeds. Also from some personal things I've heard, they didnt want a black QB.
Hot Take: Cam Newton has had a better career, and historically is a better NFL QB than Russell Wilson.
😂😂😂😂😂
This is what happens when you trade for a QB that has gone Hollywood. Wilson got what he wanted and that was the money, after it was all in ink all the Diva cared about was his EGO.
Listening to these rants you'd think he was terrible til I looked up his stats then I stopped watching and listing. Kenny Pickett had 6 TDs-->FFS

It’s crazy how things can go so right for one team and a total disaster for another doing the same thing. Denver vs buccaneers. Denver= expensive 2 year rentals. Bucs= one sb ring.
Let's be real here Brady is and was ten times the player Wilson was. And the bucs in 2019 could've won 11/12 games if the qb didn't throw 30 picks.

So Sean Payton comes in Denver tells Russ “stop kissing babies”, screams at him on the sideline but now he has failed the human test by playing the game to try getting out? Simms is off on this one big time imo
As Packers fan I still have PTSD from 2014 loss lol
What nobody talks about is the fact that there is a "marriage" between the head coach and the franchise quarterback. If you don't have the right pairing, it gets really ugly. Years ago, the Bucs had an all Pro quarterback, Josh Freeman. The Bucs screwed up and hire Coach Schiano. Schiano HATED Freeman, and destroyed him and his confidence. Within the year, Freeman went from being an All Pro quarterback to being cut. Both the quarterback and the coach have to gel. If they don't, you have disaster.
Giving up draft picks for Sean Payton was a bizarre move as well, given how much the culture of football has shifted and how ineffective authoritarian coaches are trending lately.
Ryan Pace and the Bears offered the Seahawks everything but the kitchen sink to acquire Wilson, lol. Carroll saved the Bears from themselves.
Russel Wilson is not the Broncos problem. They have NOTHING at WR. They have NOTHING at edge rusher. They have 1 real good safety and 1 real good CB. And they have a descent Center and Left Guard. If Boles is still their left tackle he is pretty good too. They have e a highly overpaid and hugely average Right tackle. And their center is a free agent and will be leaving. And they have nothing at TE. At RB I thought they had something but he was hurt most of the year. I mean when Jerry Jeudy is your WR1, ya got problems considering that Jeudy is a massive bust.
Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch are extremly thankful for Denver's bone-head moves to get Wilson from Seatle! They also paid a heavy price to pick Tray Lance!
Major Applewhite's backup was a monumental blunder!

Crazy how for 10 minutes the AFC West looked like the scariest division in the entire NFL and 3 of the 4 teams had monumental meltdowns in the front office, coaching circles, and quarterback position.
Golden Tate was right when comparing Stafford to Russ.
Russell Wilson was a great off script NFL qb in his younger days. Could really throw the deep ball and I would put him in the HOF. Now that his skills have diminished, he is really a 3rd tier NFL/high end backup. Can he accept that status?

Let him go to ATL as a 1 or 2 year starter while they develop a QB- he may win the division once or twice- he needs to go to a up and coming team in a bad division
Everyone always talks about Brady being the reason for Belichick’s success. What about what Drew Brees did for Sean Payton. Payton is so overrated imo

LET'S RIDE
Trey Lance was on par with this, but SF erased the issue by winning. Denver wouldn't do that.
Think we’ll see Cleveland’s blunder come to light this year
I was grinning ear to ear when this deal was made. I’m smiling even more now. The Broncos will be paying for this for some time. That’s what you get making bad decisions to chase the Chiefs.
A bigger embarrassment than Texas A&M buying out Jimbo Fishers contract for 75 million?
Russ is glad to be gone from Denver! The last straw was Hackett. Russ was already checked out back then. He stayed and tried it with Payton because he had no choice. But Payton knew he didn’t want Russ when he took the job. I initially thought he did until he started disparaging Russ in the media and trying to purposely lose games.
Russ is exactly what the Broncos had tradet for, they where just not able (Hackett HC) or willing (Payton HC) to put him in a position, where his special abilities are used. The Broncos betrayed and abused Russell Wilson luring him to Denver pretending to want him as franchise QB hand then abused him as a scapegoat for the Hackett desaster. Payton abused him mentally by yelling at him in Primetime in front of millions and has done everything from the start to destroy his reputation. And you media people all cheering in this evil ! The whole "worst trade" cult is a pure fantasy story, Payton just got the keys to the building and is the reckless person he was his whole live.
Dallas and most of the teams in the NFL take these kinds of hits every season.
i find it how ironic how underrated russell wilson became in 1 season seeing as how OVERRATED they made him his last few years in seattle. His 2nd broncos year wasnt horrible at all, is he prime russell wilson? no. BUT he played better than the media wanna admit
But if im correct, they didnt want to pay him 39 mill, so they deciding to eat 49 mill this year anyways? 😂💀...payton a piece of crap frfr

Well, you don't have to be smart to be a football fan.
@@charlesfaure1189 Same applies to HC.
How many fuckin' times does Chris Simms say "right"?. It's OBNOXIOUS.
Payton had no intention of working with Russ. He screwed up royally. And Pete Carroll spoke about it. There was nothing Russ could have done to please Payton.
But Russ didn’t want to stay in Denver. People need to quit acting like he is being punished. Russ is laughing all the way to the bank, and he will ball out again either way his new team.
Coach70 is the blunder. They will have losing seasons for years to come. Happy with that purchase Walmart. You'll just keep raising retail prices.
Why should he move that vestment date? They signed the contract. Now he can find a better situation for him. Obviously he can't work with Payton. Probably best case would be a replacement starter for a playoff team who has an injured QB (because it seems like a good part of Wilson's game is off book anyway).
As a Raider fan, Wilson isn't the QB I really want, for various reasons. But I kind of hope the Raiders do pick him up for the vet minimum, just for a chance to sweep the Broncos again this year and really rub their faces in it. Because then Denver would be paying RW an insane amount of money to humiliate them, and that would be pretty dang funny.
As a Bears fan, thank you Pete Carroll for saving Ryan Pace from himself....
Ryan Pace was terrible. When they moved up to take Trubisky, my mouth dropped.
@richj011 My problem with it was why would you take a chance on the guy who couldn't beat out the other qb at NC that nobody knows
Let's be honest: Sean Payton's legacy is built totally on the back of Drew Brees. He's no great coach as he was only able to get one ring with one of the greatest QBs of all time. Should've had more.
Hit piece he can play for the Steelers ALL DAY!
Are they saying that he is the worst QB in the league?
Sean Payton was never committed to Russ... let's not pretend that he had a chance...
Russ is above mediocre.... look at his stats... he is definitely not in the top tier and should not be paid like that... but let's not kill the guy
The only solace I take as a Broncos fan is that Seattle has done zilch with that huge haul they took off us, Except fire their own coach of course. LOL! Which is why the H. Walker trade is still the worst in history. The Cowboys built a dynasty off that 1 player deal. The Chickenhawks ain't scarin' anybody,.
Russ was cooked the moment he threw the worst interception in NFL history.
These teams are their own worst enemies. Russell made a career out of his athleticism and ability to make off schedule plays. Every single QB in NFL history that made it on athleticism fizzled out early. It is inevitable. Nobody is as fast in their 30s as in their 20s. Yet they keep paying these guys like they are in their prime. Russ was never that great anyway without the legion of boom and marshawn.
I know most of the other people in these comments seem to want to blame Sean Payton. And I'm not agreeing with the sentiment that he's the greatest Offensive Coach in history. But Russel Wilson has a big ego and he can't adjust his playstyle so that he can win consistently. On top of that I'm certain that he won't be able to do that with ANY other team. Maybe they can win, but only by adjusting completely to his playstyle, and expecting that is unrealistic.
So Russ has to, in his first year in a new offense, be a master at the line of scrimmage?
I’m frankly surprised an organization with John Elway involved would even allow Russell those privileges coming through the front door. Even so, what I don’t like is when things went bad sports media bad mouthed Russell, and Coach Payton got none of the blame but when Russell played well he got ALL the credit. He “fixed” Russell according to Colin Coward a huge Sean Payton fan boy and Russell a proven nfl vet didn’t get any positive acknowledgment for coming to a new team and learning a new system in a new environment. Since his tirade on the sideline disrespecting Russ in front of the world, I’ve lost a lot of respect for him.
Don't believe Elway is still involved with the organization.
Wilson as good as he was early on…was labeled a diamond in the rough has now cost 2 teams a combined 111.6 Million dollars in cap hits from 22-25 on top of whatever else he was paid 😳 Who got the worse part of such a mega deal is the question moving forward🤔 Jimmy Johnson’s manipulation of the Vikings was a game changer but this will linger for years for sure!
He was always overrated by the mainstream media
Remember that the trade was done by the previous ownership to increase the price (pump & dump) but not have to deal with the consequences. Then, you have a rookie owner give a mega-contract without so much as a single snap & 2 years left on the contract. The new ownership were suckers. Hopefully, they have learned. It's time to take the necessary steps to build a winning team. As for Wilson, Denver was never a good fit and he wanted out. He needs to find a team with a dominant run game and defense. Denver needs to rebuild.
Are we really calling Sean Payton one of the all time great coaches? LMAO. How is his track record without Drew Brees?
Let's not give John Elway a pass either. He never had a succession plan for Manning after that Super Bowl. They haven't even come close to the playoffs ever since. Even though he's gone let's be honest, they haven't had consistent QB play since Peyton was healthy back in 2013-2014 before his foot injury in 2015
I read Elway is no longer involved with the team? True or false?
Sean Payton is not one of the greatest coaches of all time. He has won one superbowl with a franchise QB. I would say as good as breeze was he should have had at least three SB playing in that division. He continuously screwed up the salary cap there and he is making the same mistakes in Denver. They were not going to keep Russ around if he changed his contract. Wake up guys, they wee just trying to make it cheaper.
Sean Payton without Drew Brees. Denver may have blown it on the coach selection. Players don't like Payton.
Walton family believed they bought a team with a franchise quarterback and they should do what I do when I buy socks that don’t fit - return them to Walmart and get my money back.
Russell played himself out of the hall of fame. If he retired that year instead of forcing a trade. He might have been a hall of famer. Crazy
