I have struggled to find many videos online or been shown how to fish cavity walls on the job until now, thanks to you I am confident on how to do this after watching your video. Also being a junior fire and security engineer I have found programming quite technical especially adding cameras from a switch but with this channel all I have to do is scroll through during work and I can easily find what I need to do with an easy step by step video clip in order to get the job done. I can’t thank you enough for creating this account and making my life so much easier when I need it the most. Callum
I've been a victim to the so called professionals in this business, for a long time; they've invaded my privacy and wallet, and they've made sure to get me calling them every now and then (with a charge) for some tiny flaw which they invented it by having access to my NVR, without my knowledge. They are criminals down here, so can you just imagine the much appreciation I hold to you releasing this 8 K clarity video? you've just freed me from a never ending stealing my money and privacy. Thanks great video. Very helpful. As I'm IT guy I get calls about absolutely everything. In-laws have had visitors and they have completely messed up and apparently no video signal is showing at all. I'll be using the information in this video to go fix that tomorrow! So thanks. But just wondering if there maybe something they have done to the device that may have caused a no video scenario that you haven't covered in this video? And if so what could cause such a situation?
Nice to hear! Do you know if it’s showing no video or no link? Just trying to establish if it’s an IP or analogue system. On ip systems it shows no link, on analogue shows no video. If it’s IP I’d make sure all cameras cables are plugged into the NVR correctly, I’d then go into the camera settings on the NVR and make sure they’re set to plug and play (unless the cameras have all been setup in static mode). Also make sure you’ve got flashing lights on the poe ports. If it’s an analogue system, I’d make sure the power cable is definitely plugged into the cameras and is operational.
Hello, following your brilliant video I've managed to set up my NVR and Hikvision cameras. Everything works lovely, great resolution day and night and dead easy to retrieve particular events. The one thing I'm having difficulty with, which I thought would be the easy bit, is viewing the live feed via my smart (LG) TV ! The TV is situated at the opposite side of the house to the NVR so was hoping the feed could be achieved via wifi, which is really strong throughout the house. I've looked at a few options but so far not succeeded in getting the feed to the telly, wondered if you could help out please?
Hi Stuart that’s great to hear! Best option if feasible is to either run a hdmi or a cat6 cable across with a couple of hdmi over cat6 converters. If running a cable isn’t an option then I’d just use a wireless hdmi transmitter/receiver. It’s a shame you can’t get the app on smart tv’s yet!
Hi I've start to work as a security installer a year ago and working with hikvision cctv almost every day can you tell me how do you setup resolutions frames etc for the cameras...many thanks for help
Good morning. If you are on the nvr/dvr's web interface page, you can find these settings under "configuration" "video/audio". If you are using the nvr/dvr's local interface (using a screen) you would go to "menu" "camera" (small icon at the top of screen on latest firmware), then "video parameters" and you'll find the settings in there again. On older firmware you'd go to "menu" "recording" "parameters". If you'd prefer me to make a full video on this explaining the different settings just let me know. Kind regards

Hi! Hik Guru.Thank you for taking the time to share this Video. I've one question. Is it a must to have a router and internet connection to get a remote view from other location ?
Yes you will need some form of internet connection, Hik do a range of NVRs with a SIM card slot for built in 4g connection if you don’t want a separate router
Great vid! Does this NVR support/have acusense? It's hard to find online - specs say Smart Detection and human/vehicle ID but not sure if that's different from Acusense. Many Thanks
@ Maintenance is the button with tools icon ? Alas, I could not find the factory reset button with the same firmware as yours. May be they moved it to another place?
Hi Guru, thanks for the videos, I'm in the process of setting up a new system, x5 cameras with a 4k POE NVR (DS - 7608NI-12/8P), do I need a seperate POE switch to power the NVR & cameras or will the NVR power the cameras directly?
Good morning, the NVRs on board POE will power all of your cameras, all you’ll have is a normal power adapter to plug into your NVR into a mains wall socket. So no need for a separate switch.
@@HikVisionGuru Morning, Thanks for responding, one more question..I'm using cat 6 cable with 'Ideal cat6 feed through plugs', I've noticed they are extremely tight when plugging into the back of the NVR, they seem too big ! Great video! Question - My NVR is upstairs in a closet in a space that is occupied by tenants. I access the cameras using the Hik-Connect app on my phone or tablet. Id like to set up a separate standalone LCD monitor in the basement using the Hik-Connect app to have the cameras displayed all the time. Is this possible without running any additional wiring down to the basement?
Hi Phil! Options are, use a computer and watch the cameras via that, or, use a wireless HDMI transmitter/receiver, depending on how many floors it is the signal should reach, although these are fairly expensive.
Hi Guru, thank you for the prompt reply! Its only 1 floor so, it should reach. I was under the impression to use one of these extenders that I would need to run CAT5 cabling to reach the receiver. Everything in the basement is wireless connection via WiFi. Is that accurate that a hardwired internet connection is needed?
Good day. I just installed a DVR, a couple of Hik vision cameras and an interphone on my home. I was wondering if there's a way to set up an alexa eco show (the one with the diplay) to either display the cameras and/or to be able to answer the interphone. Thanks in advance for your help.
Hi Luis, HikVision/Hik-Connect is not directly supported by the echo show, however I believe there are some ways around it by using RTSP, although we don’t have experience using these echo devices I’m afraid.
Awesome video …thank you it’s really useful and has helped out heaps. I was having trouble activating cameras but noticed they appear on the nvr anyway…is the activation automatic? Also while the cameras appear on the nvr and via Hik-Connect they don’t seem to appear when I login via a laptop?
Hi Simon, by default the camera activation is automatic, assuming the cameras have never been used previously and the NVR ports are set to plug and play. Via the laptop, are you using the web interface or software like ivms4200? If you’re using the web interface try going to configuration on there, then local, then make sure that “auto start live view” is enabled and click save. Then click on live view at the top and see if they load. Let me know if you get an error code in the bottom right corner.
Hi - your videos have great content and extremely helpful. Can you please do a tutorial on the DS-7608NI-M2/8P model. I am a little stuck when it comes to configuring - i.e. I have two 4tb hard drives in the NVR, however, only one is displayed. Also, the verification code is not showing when I am following network set up. Your expert assistance would be most welcome. Thanks
If there is only 1 hard drive showing on the list of available hard drives, make sure the second one is properly connected. If not it could be faulty drive. As for verification code, it will be on the platform access screen, it maybe hidden with asterisks’, in which case you’ll need to click on the eye symbol to reveal it. If you’re unsure send me a picture of the screen to info@bearwatchcctv.com Regards Chris

Hello! Yes for x3 8MP you would want the M series DS-7608NI-M2/8P, this has enough decoding resources for your 8MP cameras. The K series or the 4ch NVRs don’t have enough resource. The M and I series are the same price

Hi Konrad, I’d suggest updating all of your cameras (if IP) and your dvr/nvr firmware. Are you running the recording on H264/+ or H265/+? What bitrate are the cameras set to? If you’re unsure where to find these let me know
It is quite a high bitrate especially for x4 8mp cameras. Is it a 4 or 8ch NVR? I’ve seen disabling stream encryption on platform access increases the stream loading but then you’ve got security vulnerabilities.
On your movie hd on app came straight away with no problem. That telling me probably somewhere on settings might be problem. I have setup everything on 4k settings in my NVR. Any way thanks for speedy response.
Hi. If I've already had the system up and running is there a way of going back to the start sequence so I can follow your video? Or a factory reset? Trying to view online. Cheers
Hello! You can find all the settings in the menus of the dvr/NVR. However, If you wanted the startup wizard like in the video, go to configuration, tick the box “enable wizard”, then reboot the system, when it reboots you will have the wizard. Hope this helps
Thanks Tony, at the time of making this video these dns settings were always the go to settings for cctv dvrs/nvrs. However now, the best option is auto dns.

Hi Jarrah! We don’t normally recommend h265+ as we find it to be rather unstable as many other people have reported. Sometimes you’ll have a laggy playback or the live view will stagger. H264 is the most stable, however uses much more storage space, only use H265 if storage space is an issue as it will massively improve

If not, have you opened the dvr up and unplugged the hard drive there is 2 cables, if you unplug them and then try booting the system up, if still nothing happens then you know it’s the box that’s at fault. You can reuse the hard drive. What megapixel cameras have you got plugged in at the moment? I assume 1080P (2MP) based on the dvr’s model number. If you wanted a new DVR you can keep the exact cameras and connections etc, the new model number is IDS-7204HUHI-M1/FA(C) If you are in the uk we can supply these for next day delivery. It would then be a simple case of removing your old DVR taking the hard drive out, putting it in the new DVR, plugging the cameras in and setup the system on the screen.
@@HikVisionGuru hey That was an amazingly quick response WOW! Thanks! I haven’t opened it up will give that a go at the weekend and see what happens. We have 1080p cameras as you say. What sort of cost for new DVR if I need one?
@lav5958 make sure everything is unplugged and powered off before you open it, there is always risk in regards to health and safety etc, and you accept full responsibility and we aren’t liable for any injury or damage caused as a result of following my guidance. (Sorry we have to cover ourselves nowadays!) But yeah you’ll be fine, you can look at our hard drive fitting video might be some use to you to see what screws and cables to undo etc. There is actually another product code we still stock that’s a bit cheaper and does the same job, IDS-7204HQHI-K1/2S(C) coming in at £86

Good morning, the NVRs on board POE will power all of your cameras, all you’ll have is a normal power adapter to plug into your NVR into a mains wall socket. So no need for a separate switch.

If you’re unsure send me a picture of the screen to info@bearwatchcctv.com

@@HikVisionGuru Thx again for your help. Re-adding the NVR to Hik Connect app once again via QR code and not like local IP address worked well. I am now able to connect.
Thx again for your help.
I am getting the NO LINK message on one camera view. In configuration menu, the status in red circle with X reads "Incorrect camera user name or password". Once I lose electricity, I usually can get this camera back up and running, but this time I am getting this message and I can't figure out how to input the correct info. Thanks for any advice you can provide.
Is your camera connected directly to your NVR, or via a separate switch?
What's the software for hikvision on both pc and mac. Can you tell me, can you provide links to download? I want to have the software to view cameras on both pc and mac.
It’s called HikVision ivms4200
Links for windows and Mac can be found on this page:

@@HikVisionGuruWhich one do I download? I use the Guarding Vision app on my phone. The green house icon. There Hikvision cameras but the app is not the Hik-Connect, they use the Guarding Vision app now. Any idea.
@@amazingman74what NVR are you using, a hilook one? Have you got a model number for your NVR? You can still download hikconnect on your mobile device using guarding vision as the platform access. For the computer software you’ll want to download ivms4200 via the link provided
So does it matter where the nvr is located in the network or do the cameras have to be plugged into the nvr.
Hi Dan, the cameras do not have to be plugged directly into the nvr. They can be anywhere on the network, you would just need a POE injector or a POE switch etc. if you need information on how to add a camera from your network onto your NVR we have a video

Hi
Is it imperative to change the preferred and alternative DNS server settings whilst setting up ???
Hi Trevor, we sometimes find this dns setup to be better, however only recently the auto dns seems to be doing a better job.
@@HikVisionGuru Thanx for that, thought it may of had an impact on the live view issue I mentioned previously but to be fair I’ve tried everything and come to the conclusion as long as it plays fine on the DVR straight to a monitor all is well as I’ve found that H.265+ seems to be quite consistent all round without any real major issues.
Hi Guru,
I’ve installed 4x camera to my Hikvision NVR. When I view live mode, I notice some of the cameras go fuzzy and are unstable and when I select a particular camera to view, the image is stable.
Please advice. Thanks
Good morning Saj! Is this on a local screen or on Hik-Connect live view?
It’s on Hik- connect live view from iPhone
@@sajakhtar4941 if you load one of the cameras, then in the bottom left corner can you see it says “basic” or “hd”, tap on that, and make sure “hd” is selected. This will make sure the camera is in main stream mode, the basic mode is sub stream which is lower quality however May load quicker.
Do you know what IP address imputing manual entry. In the Hik-connect app? Ip/Domain. I have port forwarding in to my router. It works only in Wi-Fi, but does not work when I’m on cellular. Any suggestions?
Hi Jakob, you will need to use your routers external IP address and not the internal. You can find your external ip by typing into Google “see my IP”
@@HikVisionGuru do I take my external IP address and input it on manual up/domain? With port forwarding into my router using the IP address from the external address?
@@jakobporterz3211 you would input the external address into Hik-Connect ip, you’d need to port forward the address of your NVR, the local ipv4 address.
I`m having problems understanding at 9:00 how your camera is on line. There is nowhere in this video where you changed the camera`s name from "IPCamera 01" to "Camera 01". My camera remains "inactive" having followed your video many times.
Good morning Nikita, just to make sure, your system is definitely an IP based system as opposed to analogue correct? Are your IP cameras plugged directly into your NVR or are they connected to a switch on the network? Is your NVR set to plug and play or manual editing of the ip camera addresses? If they are plug and play they are automatically detected by the NVR and once connected show as camera 01.
Hi! I'm trying to find out how to disable the orange thingy in the top right corner of the screen. I can't seem to get the answer to it.
Hey! Are you referring to the red square that is in each corner of each camera? If so that’s a recording status symbol meaning that camera is recording. If it’s something else you’re referring to, please send me a picture @ hikguru.yt@gmail.com
Hi there great vid. Can u show how to add an ip camera to a nvr that is already set up and running I. E already has some existing ip cameras connected..
Hi Jimmy. Do you mean say add an IP camera to an existing NVR, where the IP camera is connected to the network but not directly to the NVR?
@@HikVisionGuru hi. I've just set up my nvr with 3 ip cameras following the steps in ur video but afterwards I then added an ip camera that is connected tru ubiquiti point to point the cameras ip is showing on the nvr but I don't know how to get the actual camera live. Hope that makes sense

I have a Hikvision 16 channel NVR. Yesterday it started beeping 3 long beeps and 2 short beeps. I rarely log in directly to the NVR. Usually through web browser. When I logged in directly, I see that the menu is now NVR 4.0 and a totally different look. Used to look like the menu that you show in video. right-click with the mouse no longer brings up the menu. Also, now cameras are now some cameras not being picked up. Seems that somehow, motion detection has been turned on on all cameras with entire view blocked out for motion and some IP configurations for the cameras have changed requiring reprogramming. Does Hikvision automatically change the NVR menu? Very annoying.
Could be the hard drive is full reason for annoying beeping,I had this, HD is not wiping and resetting, check on HDD menu see if it's full if so re initianished reset.
OK Mr guru im back and have some questions about a couple of problems im having
So i linked up one camera to the nvr indoors and then added the app to my phone and got the whole thing working nicely with sound and 2 way audio
once that was all working nicely i then bolted it all to the outside of the house and added a further 2 cameras to ports 2 and 3
all 3 cameras work on the nvr and are connected to my phone BUT
the first camera i set up indoors works fine with audio of whats going on outside coming to my phone.........but the 2 cameras i added on ports 2 and 3 dont have any audio to the phone
i can get 2 way audio on all 3 cameras but i cant hear whats going on outside on cameras 2 and 3 and funnily enough they also dont seem to want to put the spot light on full brightness either
ive tried turning audio on at the nvr and desktop screen and ive also turned on the audio button on my phone but no joy
would adding those 2 further cameras after getting the first one running be anything to do with it as it is those 2 further cameras that are playing up..??
Under the recording parameters is the video type set to “video & audio” and not just “video”?
@@HikVisionGuru OK guru ive had a look and found the parameters page and you were correct.....i didnt have it set as video/audio......thanks for your help and expertise
also one thing i noticed just incase anyone is reading this is the audio wont come through on your phone unless you have the video set to HD.........If its just on basic you dont get any audio
you da man Hik guru
Can you showe how to change setting back to colour . Don't know why it changed
Hi Linda, do you mean a colourvu camera back to colour or?
Hi, my HDD has stopped recording. Would I have to change the hard drive for it to start recording again or is there any other solution? I have tried a few things and it starts recording again but as soon as I turn the tv off it stops
It’s your recorder making a beeping sound at all? Was it working ok before? It could be a few things, either the recording schedule is not set, maybe off or set on motion schedule? Or your hard drive is faulty. If you go to the storage page on the recorder you should see your hard drive listed, if it’s not listed it’s not recognising any hard drives. Let me know if this helps or you need more information
Hi mate thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge with us, I have done all the steps as per your video , two of ip turret cameras directly connected to the Poe port of my nvr. Nvr is directly wired to my router. I can access the NVR through browser and it’s detected in SANP app . But I still have my cameras status “ inactive” in the camera settings section of the nvr. lights on both cameras port at the back of nvr are blinking . But in your video the camera was already “online” without further adjustments or settings. Also on Peo settings it’s showing my two cameras are connected and are consuming 4 watts each .Can you please kindly tell me what to do to have my cameras online?😢 thanks again mate
Hi Kevin! When setting up the NVR, did you set the IPC channel password when you created the NVR password? Or clicked duplicate NVR password to ipc channels?
@@HikVisionGuru thanks for getting back to me mate , honestly I don’t know what IPC is but when I was going through nvr settings from scratch there was a section that I ticked the “ camera password the same as device” box. The thing is that because we have activated DHCP then my cameras already have their own specific Internal IP address chosen by the nvr itself which are different from external IP addresses. and I can not modify them through SADP as my cameras are not visible in SADP. Any suggestions are much appreciated.. if you have email address I would be able to send you screenshots as well . Thanks legend
@@kevin6856 IPC is just ip camera. That’s the correct box to be ticking what you said “camera password same as device”. If you want to send some screenshots to HikGuru.yt@gmail.com
Did you make the camera ethernet cables yourself or were they readymade?
@@HikVisionGuru thanks mate , yes I did the cables myself and the ones I made before worked fine . They are around 40 meters each I believe if not both , at least one of them is 100% working because I tested it somewhere else with another camera , also in the Poe settings of the nvr it was showing two ports are consuming 4watts each which could be a sign of correct camera to the nvr connection .. it’s very generous of you to share your email , I will send you screenshots tomorrow morning. currently it’s 21:35 pm Down under :) and I don’t have access to the system . Thanks a million

Hi There, I just set-up a new HikVision NVR with the ColorVu cameras and have been trying to turn off the supplemental led lights on the cameras. For some reason all the help videos I have watched show accessing the PTZ Features. I see the joystick in almost every video I have watched but with my system it is there but not clickable. Any idea what I might be missing?
Hi Brenton, is your system IP or analogue?
@@HikVisionGuru it is IP
@@brentonrose1053 if you want to follow one of our videos on how to adjust ColourVu brightness/enable/disable.
th-cam.com/video/uJ-gFIgXnKk/w-d-xo.html
Simply you need to login to the cameras web interface via virtual host if the camera is connected directly to the NVR. Then go to image/display settings, day/night settings, and then set it to just day.
@@HikVisionGuru thank you I will investigate tonight
@@HikVisionGuru Yes thank you this did work I realized I needed to set the IP Camera default password to get into those but I am in and they are now disabled. Follow-up question in the web interface my live view is black but on the app and the NVR I see active camera viewing. Any thoughts why that is?
Hi our HikVision box seems to have stopped working completely - no lights coming from box - have tried everything to get it working again but nothing! Can we buy a replacement box as our one is old without replacing the x3 cameras that we have? I have no clue what to do next! Model: DS-7204HQHI-F1/N/A
01
Any help would be much appreciated please
Hi! Have you tried a new power supply at all? If not, have you opened the dvr up and unplugged the hard drive there is 2 cables, if you unplug them and then try booting the system up, if still nothing happens then you know it’s the box that’s at fault. You can reuse the hard drive.
What megapixel cameras have you got plugged in at the moment? I assume 1080P (2MP) based on the dvr’s model number.
If you wanted a new DVR you can keep the exact cameras and connections etc, the new model number is IDS-7204HUHI-M1/FA(C)
If you are in the uk we can supply these for next day delivery.
(Sorry we have to cover ourselves nowadays!)
But yeah you’ll be fine, you can look at our hard drive fitting video might be some use to you to see what screws and cables to undo etc.
There is actually another product code we still stock that’s a bit cheaper and does the same job, IDS-7204HQHI-K1/2S(C) coming in at £86
@@HikVisionGuru ok will take a look and follow your H&S advice. Let you know how it goes - thanks so much 👍
