    Great video. I like the way you work. Looks neat, good job. The Black PVC is nice too, never seen that will have to look for it here. I like those saddles and the box too, will also look into those. We are generally limited to what we can get here though. We cant run wire in cement walls here as they are filled or solid concrete. So running it through the attic then coming down indoors is the usual way. But we also do this conduit method on single story homes if going out to a post in the yard. Always good to see other ways to do things and how things are in other countries. Thanks for the video.

    Very well explained video! What’s under the soffit? Is it just a thin piece of wood? Is it okay to mount a ptz camera directly onto it ? Thanks

    • @HikVisionGuru
      @HikVisionGuru  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The soffit in this video was 15mm wood, in some houses it can be just 5mm of pvc. What ptz are you thinking of mounting? What is your soffit soffit in question made of?

    • @tmanoharanify
      @tmanoharanify 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@HikVisionGuru it’s wood I can tap it from the window. When I tap, sound differs slightly in different sections of the soffit , Indicating something behind/under those sections, could be the roof plank ? (Excuse my lack of technical terms). I bought a reo link trackmix Poe camera. It’s 1.2kg.

    • @HikVisionGuru
      @HikVisionGuru  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @tmanoharanify as long as it’s pretty solid wool, ie, it doesn’t flex when you push it and isn’t flimsy, then I’d go right ahead and screw that camera to it no issue, it’s only lightweight. If you hear different sounds you’re likely tapping where the roof rafters are coming down (rafter tails).

    • @tmanoharanify
      @tmanoharanify 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@HikVisionGuru thank you. It does look a little flimsy to me. Maybe I can mount it in the section where the rafters are ? So it will be mounted onto the rafters via the soffit?

    Is there any reason why an NVR wouldn't be kept in the loft? Thanks

    • @HikVisionGuru
      @HikVisionGuru  ปีที่แล้ว

      If the client requests it goes elsewhere for whatever reason whether it’s ease of access etc. If there’s no power in the loft and getting power up there isn’t feasible. If the loft isn’t accessible or is too small to enter. There’s many reasons, best NVR placement should be discussed with client on site survey with pros and cons

      Cat5e is plenty good enough for all poe cameras, but cat6 is future proofing long into the future. I’d potentially give customers the option and cost it extra for future proofed wiring, especially when rewiring in future isn’t feasible

      If you can right click using the mouse anywhere on the screen, then left click on menu, login if it asks you, then click on configuration, then network, then on that screen you should see primary and secondary DNS, towards the bottom. If “auto dns” is ticked untick it and then delete the existing dns fields and type in 8.8.4.4 for your primary and 8.8.8.8 for secondary, then hit save.
      If you’re on a newer firmware, again right click, menu, then press the settings/gear icon at the top menu, then network, then again go to dns settings like before.
      Always remember to click apply/save.
      Let me know how you get on
