They work fairly similarly to be fair. We find intrusion detection is more accurate, you are able to set a time threshold so the number of seconds the object has got to be inside of the region before it triggers. Often eliminating false triggers. Motion detection is much more basic in terms of zoning.
hello, I would like to ask, is it possible to see a red mark in the reverse playback in the Hik Connect app, for example when crossing a line? i would only like the marks in the playback, not the notification in the app, thank you very much
Hi, thank you for your videos, as an end user the content is great for understanding the systems. Quick question, I am having two DS-2CD2347G2-LU cameras installed soon, the NVR is going to be DS-7604NI-K1/4P, can you set on the NVR min and max sizes or does that need to be done via the camera interface and virtual host (if so, does that affect notifications) ?
Also (excuse my ignorance) If I set Intrusion detection (which I am hoping to) for certain times of the day, will the NVR still constantly record ?

Hi Darren!
Depending on NVR/camera firmware we’ve seen the ability to set min max sizes on the NVR itself. But usually just do it via virtual host. It doesn’t affect the intrusion at all no, just make sure you set the usual settings on the NVR.
By default the cameras record 24/7, regardless of intrusion detection schedules. To check the normal recording schedule you would have to go to the storage management page, and check record schedules here.

Hi, an excellent video where I discovered a few things I didn't know about my 7732 NVR. Question - can the line crossing, intrusion boxes and triggering be viewed live on the NVR screen itself rather than the web interface?
If you update your firmware to the latest version, then hover over the camera on the live view screen that you want the lines to appear on. There will be a little menu at the bottom, on there is a button which enables/disables the rules.

Good video. I have nvr DS 7616NI-Q2 7 Camera HNC 344-XD. I can't seem to intrusion or cross line motion to enable. After enabling and drawing box or line when I click to save I get invalid operation. Can you please advise
Just a note of caution. When you set up either line detection or intrusion detection on HikVision cameras the default setting for max area is already set as the size of the screen perimeter. If you get rid of it entirely you'll find your cameras won't detect anything! You need a max detection area set for them to work. I found this out the hard way.

@@michaelj2us For intrusion detection when you set up the area there is a 'Max. Size' selection button. Hold your left mouse button and drag to create the size of box you want.

Hi, thanks for the video it allowed me to easily set up intrusion detection. The only problem I have is that I also get an alert notification on my indoor intercom station. When I disable the NVR notifications on the indoor station, it also disables them on the Hik-Connect app on my phone. Would you possibly know a way to disable them on the indoor station, but not the app on my phone. Thanks
No problem at all Sat glad we could help, is your indoor station running the latest firmware? If you’re unsure send me the model number of the indoor station you’re using, and your current firmware version which can be found on the information screen on the intercom.

Thank you so much for this video! I recently installed the Hik-Connect End user app on my phone and finally have notifications of motion and events going to my device! But now I'm inundated with alerts [not a problem now that i'm armed with your video!-- Your video has helped me figure out how to do intrusion detection and log-in directly into the cameras (never did that before) to adjust some of the finer points of detection to stop all the nonsense alarms i was getting.
Question for you- the Face detection function, if i enable it, and go into linkage, i have notify surveillance center ticked to get the app notification, but what is the function of the tick box that says 'upload to ftp/NAS, ..." etc. do? does that save an image of the face to my NVR? Thanks in advance.

hi.. may I know which model of NVR and camera are u using in this video ? and do we need acu sense camera with acu sense NVR for intrusion detection or just acu sense NVR with normal camera ?
Hi Ahmad! For IP camera systems, we normally recommend a normal NVR and use an AcuSense camera. Like in this video I’m using a non AcuSense NVR and just an AcuSense ip camera. NVR DS-7608NI-I (8P), or you can use DS-7604NI-K1(4P) for 4 channel. Then for camera there are lots of models, this is a 4MP camera, DS-2CD2347G2-ISU/SL

Not sure why but on my colorvu acusense cameras both the ds-2cd2087g2-lu and ds-2cd2347g2-lu models I have my motion detection set to only be on from 0:00-6:00 & 18:00-24:00 in the schedule and the only trigger being for the white light to come on yet the light still comes on during 6:00-18:00 due to motion .. 🙄
If you have any idea’s as how I could stop It coming on in the day time hours It would be greatly appreciated .. 🤔
Hi Graeme. The white light shouldn’t come on due to motion detection on an IP ColourVu. You can either let the camera automatically determine when to turn the white light on and off, or you can set it manually via the white light schedule. We’ve got a video on the ColourVu white light

This is one of the best videos ever. I have really been struggling with setting up my camera for animal detection at my house in Kenya. I now have two cameras - DS-2DE54251W-AE T5 and DS-2DE42251W-DE. After much to and fro with the local technical support, I have set up intrusion detection on both cameras (gave up on motion detection). Now only one camera (2DE42251W) gives intrusion alerts and the other remains silent although both are pointing at exactly the same area. Any suggestions?
Hi Michael! When you say gives intrusion alerts I’m assuming you refer to notifying you via the Hik-Connect app? Is notify surveillance centre enabled on the intrusion settings linkage action?
I really would like your help is setting up a third camera. Although I have followed your video carefully again, it just will not detect motion. Hi execellent video at the right speed. Just wondering how do you change the back ground colour on the left side of the screen . My is black difficult to see the menus. Also above SYSTEM yours shows LOCAL mine does not display LOCAL any advice on how to show this please. Thank you

What browser are you using? Internet explorer is the most compatible one, sometimes some browsers don’t show everything properly. Have you installed the web components plugin?

If you can try using the original internet explorer and see if that solves your issue. You may need to search for IE using the windows search bar.

@@RayMondElec what camera/NVR firmware are you running at the moment? I know the latest firmwares with the latest web plugin shows the left menu with black background and white text
I have 3 cameras installed. The Technician set one up for line crossing and intrusion. You brilliant guide got me to setting up the 2nd camera for intrusion, but when I went to save, it wont let me. Are these only able to set one camera for detection? I`m almost there but very frustrating.

No worries good to hear! On most systems you can set both detection methods, just depends on the model numbers and computing power
Hi. We have had 2 new cameras set up which are listening cameras along with 2 old ones . We have a total of 6 camera and guy is telling us he can't set up motion detection on 2 non listening cameras now . Is it something to do with the cable or old cameras not compatible with new cameras .please help spent a fortune and its not right.

Hi, just wondering why my intrusion detection is not working. I have setup my zones etc but is not recording. Do I need to have regular motion detection disabled for smart events to work ?
Hi David, we would recommend disabling the basic motion detection, and just use intrusion detection. We also recommend you set your recording to 24/7, and then have your intrusion detection alert you.

Hi sorry. Me again. Hes saying you can only set up for human or motion on 4 cameras is this correct. Or is it because the 2 he is now saying he can't add to motion detection are the 2 non hearing cameras. He's saying he can't add the 2 non earing cant be added to motion detection even thought they worked before .
Hi Debbie! You’d have to remind me of your dvr/nvrs model number. If it’s a basic dvr chances are it only supports 2 channels worth of detection at any given time as there isn’t enough processing resource.
Hi, is it possible to set the detection zone's in the camera to let it trigger the nvr for recording? In the nvr I can only select zone 1 while in the camera there are 4 I can set with each a different sensitivity. Then when I look back in the nvr there is still only 1 (still different from zone 1 I set in the camera). Nvr = DS-7608NXI-I2/8P/4S, camera = DS-2CD2087G2-L. Thank you.

@@HikVisionGuru The camera has V5.7.10 build 220830 Now when I look in the camera's live view I see the 4 trigger-zones on motion I had set there but in the nvr live viewI see the 1 that is set there.
Think I solved the issue. As soon as I disabled the local smart analysis (guessed translation from dutch) on the nvr the detection zones that I configured in the camera appeared. Thank you for the fast reply.
Hi After your much appreciated previous help with new NVR 7604 NI-K1-4P now working OK, I bought a new Colourview 2CD2347G2-LU camera and am so pleased with it was thinking of adding another.
Will my NVR support another 4K camera? I would then have 2 x 4K and 2 x 1080P cameras on motion detect.

I contacted the seller where I bought camera and also Hikvision who don't even talk to home users, only installers. The seller was pretty vague in his reply so this is my reason for asking you for advice.
I have simply been looking for a straight forward yes or no answer which I have been unable to get from any other source tried so far only references to tech information which as you seem to know the average home user is baffled by and felt sure I would get a simple answer from you.

Hi Peter, 99% of HikVision IP cameras support intrusion detection, have you not got HikVision cameras? The model number seems a little bit dodgy!
@@HikVisionGuru thanks for the reply, yes they are all Hikvision cameras. came as a kit with the NVR. I did manage to get the line crossing to work on the 4k camera but whenever I click on the other cameras (4mp) whether its line crossing or intrusion detection I get that "not supported"
@@peteraltobelli4893 Ah yes I've just noticed it is a USA market product not UK like ours. Looking at the data sheet for the ECI-D24F2 it only appears to support basic "motion detection". See link here and go onto data sheet, then scroll to alarm trigger, it only says motion. Have you got a product code for the camera that is working with intrusion?

@@peteraltobelli4893 Hi Peter no problem. Yes you’ll be able to use the same NVR with a ColourVu, we highly recommend these cameras aswell. Try and get the G2 series as these come with the AcuSense technology for false alarm filtering. Recommended product code DS-2CD2347G2-LU (2.8mm 4MP)
I’m trying to connect to my nvr and when I put the ip address into the search bar on internet explorer, it won’t connect. Do I have to set something up via the nvr first to allow me to connect to it remotely?
Hi Nathan, I’m assuming your pc is on the same network as the NVR? Is your NVR set to dhcp, if you want you can send me a picture of the network basic settings on the NVR (if you’ve got a screen attached), and email it to HikGuru.yt@gmail.com and I’ll let you know if everything seems ok?
@@HikVisionGuru Thanks for the fast reply. I’ve managed to get the IP working now and I can connect remotely via the ip address but I can’t get live view working. Its had a slight update since you made this video and a few things are in different places. I’ve retyped the encryption key which is working fine but I cannot for the life of me get live view working. I then want to set up the strobe flashing between certain hours of the night as a deterrent to any intruders.

If you're unsure of your encryption key or verification code, simply go onto your NVRs screen, go to menu, settings/system, network, advanced, platform access, and it is labelled Verification code, if you can't see the code hover over it and click on the closed eye symbol to reveal the code.
How did you manage to get it on the live view to show the blue lines and then red lines when testing cameras?

Amazing thank you. Also is there a way to get access to your camera by logging in if you can’t remember the password but know the admin password. I tried the admin password and it doesn’t work for camera and can’t remember what I set for it
I’m assuming it’s an IP camera you can’t get access to is it? If so, you’ll need to default the camera itself using the onboard button and reset process explained in one of our videos.

@@HikVisionGuru yes it’s an ip camera and I can’t access it like I can view it but can’t login to the camera as I don’t know the password I set for the camera but know the NVR password how do you default it?

Have you virtual hosted into the specific camera and gone into image settings on there, as opposed to on the NVR?

@@TheStar1818 go onto the NVRs web config page, go to network, advanced, other, then tick enable virtual host, hit save/apply. Then go to system, camera management, then they’ll be a blue link next to each camera

i only have a Macbook pro so i have no way of setting up intrusion detection. could you suggest a cheap alternative so i can set this up on my system, thank you.

@@HikVisionGuru Thanks for the replys Hik Guru i couldn't tell you what it has been set to. But none of the things you have mentioned appear on any page i can see. The installer said at the time that it won't let me do anything on a mac. I have no problem with that, but i would like to have more control. What would be the cheapest of the shelf PC i could buy out of currys that would be up to the job of running the Hikvsion programme.

I try to access the camera with the virtual host, but the camera does not have the NVR password (in fact I just haven't set the password on the camera, it works plug and play). where is the option to pass the password of the NVR also to the cameras?

By default when you setup the NVR and IPCS it should say use same password for IPCS, or duplicate NVR password to IP channels.
Were the cameras brand new or have they been used on a previous NVR?

Mine sometimes shows the ring bell on the DVR when the alarm is triggered but it doesn't create an alarm event or notification? And sometimes it does but once in 10 times

What is your broadband internet speed like?
@@HikVisionGuru Ive got the linkage. Its not set on a schedule. Internet isn't the greatest but the NVR itself doesn't push the alarm always, it just shows the ring bell icon on the monitoring screen while the person is walking, it doesn't push the notification
@@danibs7860 what event type are you using? Is the NVR connected directly to the router or using some form of powerline adapter?
@@HikVisionGuru directly to the router. I'm using intrusion and line cross. I tried removing one and leaving only one of 2 but it changed nothing. I mean it's weird cause it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't . I thought it could be sensitivity but i changed it to higher(-80%) nothing changed

If I have lots of trees in the garden can I still setup human detection?
Yes, I think you’d struggle without an AcuSense camera or DVR/NVR, just try to ensure the trees aren’t in the zones, even if it means you create multiple zones if your device supports it. Then just trial and error to get it as perfect as possible
I have an NVR but it seems there's a small limit of processing power on it and can't activate anything advanced on more than 1 camera

What is the " Encryption Key " and where do I find it?
Hi David, this is for Hik-Connect use. It is an additional layer of security so that if someone did know your details they would then also need your encryption key to view any cameras. You can find it on your NVRs web interface by going to configuration, network, advanced, platform access, see encryption key and press the closed eye symbol to reveal it.
