I love the game of Yingchao. One of the best defender actually, my favourite of course!
Was surprised to see Ovtcharov so badly at handling choppers like Hou. But recently I viewed the losses of Wang Chuqin and Liang Jingkui to Hou in 2019 and 2020. Started to realize how good Hou is, despite he is already over 40.
Ovtcharov struggles against any style that deviates from the backhand dominant game be it lefties,choppers or forehand dominant players.He's one of the most robotic players ,although players raised with the plastic ball are equally robotic.See Calderano,Fan Zhedong etc...
He doesn't have an excuse 'cause the Bundesliga always had many choppers.

Hou's forehand top spin is a Marvel. Fluid, powerfull, precise.
Yingchao has more side spin than Joosehyuk. That's why many player feel tricky about him

HTC is better than JSH in my opinion.
It's because they use different pips. I switched from long pips (P1-R, like Joo) to short pips (802, Hou uses Spectol but they're pretty similar) as an experiment recently and suddenly I'm getting way more sidespin on my chops with the same motion. The downside is it's harder to keep the chops on the table, since the short pips are much more sensitive to the incoming spin; the feel is different as well. So it's a tradeoff between excellent control with modest spin variation and excellent spin variation with less control.

@@garylist9 Use Spectol instead or now Victas Spectol S1. Much more consistent for chopping and also less sensitive to spin than 802. Worth the extra cost.

Ovtcharov had a ton of raw power. Yingchao beat him but the 3 games won by Yingchao were close.

При розыгрыше на счёте 2:1 и 9:8 женщина в красном пиджаке закричала во время розыгрыша, после этого Дима Овчаров не попал относительно несложный мяч на своем преимуществе. В партии был зацеп, но этот момент очень помог китайскому защитнику. Кто знает чем закончилась бы встреча при счёте 9:9.
