Thing is with hou, his Chops ain't passive but rather quite aggressive. And pacey too. Sidespin plus chop has the opponents stalling with more safety concience returns. Also being short pip can attack better than long pip. Also has advantage of being unique in style. Great to watch a quality player slow games down a little so we can see other elements of the game, rather than the modern all guns-a-blazing style.

Its crazy to compare this game vs the ma long game. Ma's technique just uses so much more body, Liang is just like all arm, and just can't overcome the spin. He looks like me out there...

This amount of backspin must be unbelievable. When a non professional player tries to return it, the ball will burn a hole in the non professional players side of the table
The real power of Hou Yingchao though is not spin power - it's spin variation. He's mixing heavy backspin with no-spin and strong topspin/sidespin from the FH side. Extremely difficult to deal with.
@@mgobio1471 I love watching defenders. I was in the luck to see Evgueni Chtchetinine (defending legend from Belarus) live. This guy had so powerful backspin that Timo Boll said, that he is not able to play a regular topspin against him. He was only able to lift the ball. But Chtchetinine also variates with spin, what it makes so difficult.

He played several years ago. If I remember properly - he played for Niederosterreich. Not TTBL, but he played with TTBL players in Champions League and very sucсessfully.

@@nigelhart3897 I would rather say: for all those who think they can read spin variation, because that's the true Hou Yingchao's strength. Anyway, you can find his matches from the Russian Premier League from like 7-8 years ago, he also played one season in the Polish Superleague 3 or 4 years ago (and didn't lose a single game!)

I hate chopping with anti, long pips or short pips are much better
@@anyfin9277 this Rubber really fit to me mate. My movement is not fast enough due to my back bone injury. Anti spin can slower my opponent attack and buy me some time to return their ball.
@@soffisaad5520 The problem with anti is weight, pips can lighten the setup to increase agility

To me this looks like equipment issue for LJK. Viscaria is not a user-friendly blade for forehand loops.

I know this is a surprising and weird fact, but Hao Yinchao chops with short pips on the backhand (Victas Spectol S1)

@@nacho.m.f Hou's chop varies even more in spin, some are heavy backspin and some are float balls (little to no spin), must be such a pain to deal with

Чел, он ему в 2019 точно так же проиграл. Новое поколение не играет против такого стиля, поэтому им и тяжело. Посмотри игры 2019 года. Ying Chao всю сборную Китая прошел тогда.
