I ended liking Absolution way more than I was expecting after years of slander towards it. Gameplay is fun and quite smooth. Best gunplay in the series and memorable characters and performances. I just wish the Saints were wearing tactical gear instead the S&M gear.
So, a bit of fun trivia: Absolution is not the first Hitman game with bullet time. Some disk versions of Codename 47 had an undocumented keybind (I think it was PageUp or Home, but I'm not sure) (probably intended for dev testing) that would toggle the game into a bullet time. Interestingly, there's no fire-rate cap on semi-auto weapons in bullet time, meaning it can result in some hilarious physics weirdness. I have no idea if this was patched out of later disks releases, and I assume it's no longer present in the digital rereleases.
As ridiculous as it is, I had an absolute blast playing the mission where you take down that group of like 9 assassins dressed in leather nun costumes. 47 picking up the phone and saying “mission failed.” was pretty badass too. And the “START. WALKING.” mission lead to a lot of hilarious videos plus it was interesting to see 47 be genuinely angry instead of just completely neutral.

One thing that always bothered me about people's criticisms towards this game is that they say 47 caring about Victoria is out of character because he's emotionless. Even though Hitman 2's plotline kicks off because his friend the priest was in danger
That's a stupid ass critique, for sure. I didn't exactly like the plot of Absolution as it was poorly done imo, for example because we barely get to know Victoria to care enough about her, but Hitman always took a jab at exploring 47's emotions, and it's definitely a neat thing to shed some light on. His rare human moments are what makes his character compelling. Be it his sympathy for some of the people he encounters, his incredibly dry yet witty humor and sense of irony, or his own confusions about himself. He would be downright boring if he'd be fully emotionless, and I would have way less of interest in the franchise. Weird that some people don't get that.

All of his main targets are bad people and even the courier 47 kills in Bloodmoney was acting suspicious and was likely involved in a conspiracy to kill 47. It's fair not to like how 47 is characterized but that's a series wide issue and not unique to Absolution.
Feeling that outro man especially the part about getting random notifications from people liking a video, really does mean a lot to see. I’d like to get into covering games myself but I’m nervous about failure…I got a thing I’m good at but it’s not really a marketable skill…:/ unless a game or anime studio wanted a guy who could place/extend music for scenes and whatnot
would love to see David Hayter meets David Bateson. Snake meets 47. Have them both switch lines and say the other's legendary lines, share stories not told yet etc. would be awesome.

I absolutely love Absolution, it being the second ever Hitman game that i ever played after Contracts but i only have little memory of playing contracts since i was literally i guess 7 or 8 when i played it, only remembering a few parts of it. But Absolution on the other hand , i have distinct memory of playing it when i was 14, the most i remember was the chinatown level, Dexter Industries, Terminus, Shaving Lenny and Blackwater Park being some of my favourites. I would always try to kill every enemy quitely before proceeding to the next section. But what i liked the most were the Sound design and also the fact that you can play the game as literally the opposite of Hitman that being you can go around guns blazing and kill every soul you come across due to the combat system being fairly challenging on higher difficulties, its quite fun and makes you feel like a bald version of John Wick.
The editing is top tier man, I hope you review the newer hitman series too! Including blood money! This content is my childhood as it is yours and is as viewers. Love the content!
I was a big fan of the hitman games and I enjoyed absolution, i know it’s a black sheep but it’s fine since they only did it once and the new games went back to the traditional formula. Story was interesting the first play through and game play was really fun loved replaying sections of the game in different ways and enjoyed the shooting a lot. Biggest peeve is the suit like you mentioned just looks off when I’m use to 47 having more square suits instead of super fitted and cardigan looking stuff. Underrated game in the franchise. Post game I really loved the gun store mission using all the guns and rampaging
Very guuuud retrospective on Absolution! I definitely loved this game back when it came out and how it can stand on its own during that time period of Hitman games. Both good or bad. It was an interesting experiment to take the direction in but I was all for it.
The next Hitman game needs a mix of high-class locations and sleazy locations. Bring back the shady strip clubs and the dirtbag antagonists (with CUTSCENES). 47 could use a break from billionaire wine parties
It was my first Hitman game. And even if I look at its story with nothing but disregard, despite some interesting ideas, and finding many design and creative choices to be really questionable, I have a real fondness for it. I liked the shooting, the concept of the manhunt (even if it's given reason was fucking stupid) and I really liked the style, the overall cheesy yet gritty vibe. Like a darker Robert Rodriguez movie.
It is still better than all other hitman series if we talk about ragdoll physics and environment physics, not like other Hitman series. They all still have ps2 ragdoll physics cartoonish kills
At first i hated this game, i'm a HUGE fan of Silent Assassin and Contracts (i prefer ambiguous stealth system, and i adore it's combat - both are among my favourite games of all time), so more scripted hitman game with more artificial stealth wasn't something i was hoping for. But i've returned to it recently and had a blast. It's a spinnoff for me, but the combat is great, and even if sometimes the story (most of the times) is just stupid, i still think that 47 himself fits the original arc. What i don't like but i understand why others like it, is the new trillogy. It's no longer this broken man struggling with his past, his morals, and his killer instincts, but reskin of James Bond minus the sex drive. The world isn't dirty anymore, it's corporate. Combat is weaker than it ever was (47 wasn't only a shadow, he was also guy who can clear a room filled with guards with his pistols alone), and i find stealth boring. Regarding first game i think it's just outdated. Blood Money is great as a stealth/puzzle game, and the atmosphere is awesome, but the combat and movement is very janky.
Never played this game but looks like yet another casualty of the 2012-2017 soi rage grifter war on gaming. Though, the X-ray vision mechanic always sucks the fun out of any video game it's in. So does being penalized for playing the game in the actually fun way but that's been a problem with stealth games since Chaos Theory. Edit: Well, i guess the entirety of Hitman series is built on that concept now that i think about it.

Never finished this games and because of this game, I stopped playing new hitman games and only ever played the first four. This game is a trash.
