    Hi Larissa! Thanks so much for the wonderful video! I work with the SCM team and book 4 is in the editing process now, and book 5 is also in progress

      Is there going to be a book 6? I'm interested.

    We've been using this book for about 6 months now, and its not quite giving me the joy I wish it would... I really wanted to love it! My child makes it through lessons but its a massive struggle and takes many days, and we are only in the twenties. I might need to try another one.

    Definitely switching to this when we're done with singapore math. Ever since we've started including a more charlotte mason approach, homeschool has been going so much better. My daughter loves it. Thank you for sharing.

    Thank you for posting. I bought the level 2 for my struggling math sweetie. We were using Math U See but I wanted to make the switch to make math more enjoyable.

    While all this is great and wonderful, this can be easily emulated at home using any math workbook but with tweaks. It's essential that kids use manipulatives to grasp abstract concepts and eventually fire those answers quickly using mental math. The second main thing is notebooking. The parent can write math questions in a notebook and work one-on-one with the child to solve them until the child is comfortable solving math problems on his/her own. There is so much pressure out there to buy curriculums but I can assure you that early elementary can totally be done without any particular curriculum.

    Thanks for doing this! I've been waffling between this and Practical Arithmetic, and yours is the first video I've found that really shows inside of it/the lessons themselves. We *might* need book four, so depending on the release date, that may make our decision for us. Richele's books are beautiful though!

    Looks fantastic I’ve been wanting to find a program like this after reading CM. I found a print out of math questions on AmblesideOnline and didn’t think I’d find a modern curriculum like this to buy. Thanks for sharing ❤

    If I'm using another math curriculum currently, is there a way to know which book to jump into best? Nevermind I should have kept watching to get my answer. I will check out the placement test.

    I know you started with kindergarten math with Confidence. We are currently using and loving it! Is this a good program transition? Or is there a lot of things repeated?

    • @emilysb89
      @emilysb89 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m curious if you’ve gotten an answer for this or if you transitioned to a new math curriculum yet? We are using MWC kindergarten but I’m wondering if my son would be bored if I did this for first grade.

    • @tianas8579
      @tianas8579 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn’t get an answer, BUT we did switch to Elementary Arithmetic book 1 from MWC and I actually think it was a perfect transition. My son flew threw the first section and really solidified all of his math facts. I think I would have had to do more explaining and slowed down a lot if it wasn’t for his initial foundation that MWC set for him. HOWEVER, we didn’t finish MWC. We switched around week 21 or 22? We were both getting bored with it and I was dreading all the games and the time it took. I prefer Elementary Arithmetic for sure and so does my son (math is his favorite subject!), but once my next child becomes kindergarten age I will use MWC with them too, and then do the switch once they turn 6 and are ready for a less playful approach.

    Hi! Thank you for your video. Are you still liking these books a year later? I'm considering using book 2 for my "2nd grader" next year. However, I'm concerned since he did not start math in the Charlotte Mason way, that I should start with book 1. I still have time, but I'm not sure!

    Hi , was Math with confidence easy to teach as well ? Does your daughter seem to grasp the concepts easier with CM arithmetic in comparison to the Math with confidence ?

    I’ve been debating on this for my first grader! We have been on the struggle bus with math for this entire year… and I’ve seriously almost tried every recommended math curriculum. 😩

      Have you had a look at Math with Confidence (MWC) by Kate Snow? It's wonderful!
      Thanks Larissa for sharing this review. I'm happy with MWC and weaving mental math using Bedtime Math on Fridays. If you are able to check MWC Grade 1, I would be interested to see how it compares with CM Arithmetic series.

      I have dyscalculia ( think math dyslexia ). I've researched a bit to know more. And kids who struggle in maths benefit from more mastery based work, hands on, visual and tactile learning activities. Also simplify it. Too much word based questions are confusing especially at foundation stage for those who struggle to hold numbers in their head.
