    I love the CM Arithmetic Series. We started off with Math-U-See. My son seemed to love math and I could see his love of math fading due to the amount of work. He was expected to do a worksheet a day, which is a lot of writing and a lot of problems for a kindergartener. I especially love how almost all of the work is oral, at least at first. And the variety of manipulatives keeps it interesting. I’m hoping book 5 and 6 come out before we need them!

    Thank you for such an in depth, informative review! I'm currently considering this for my younger 3 for next year and it was very helpful!

    Thank you for this review! I will be starting kindergarten with my oldest this fall and really looking into CM. I plan to use Singapore, but this looks fantastic!

    Thank you so much for this review!
    I will be starting our first year of homeschool in the fall with a second grader and kindergartener and, as a very “un-mathy” person I have been unsure of the various math programs. This looks like it could be perfect for us.
    As I’ve not yet homeschooled I normally could never offer advice, but the twist here is that I myself was homeschooled (successfully lol).
    My suggestion is to check out Harold Jacobs math for your middle schooler. When I was in school our options were pretty much Saxon and that’s it. I did not thrive with Saxon. Harold Jacobs only has Algebra and Geometry and I did amazingly well with his books. We were amazed that a difference in presentation could have such a profound impact. My mom (who is a math person) found these books so valuable that she saved them in case they became hard to find 😂
    They are still in print- you can buy them from CBD but you can also buy older copies very cheaply from ABEbooks.
    Thank you again ❤

    Thanks for this review. I had been going back and forth looking for a math curriculum & settled on SCM Arithmetic. I haven’t even received the book yet but I am excited to get started using it.

    I really appreciate this video! We've used Rightstart and dabbled with some other things as well; I like Righstart, but it's so complicated and has SO many manipulative. The space commitment is just a bit too much, as is setting up to get all the right cards out, playing the games (which are hard to understand), etc. I'm between this one and Truth and Goodness Math, which I really like from what I can tell; but I am drawn to having a book and not dealing with printing and organizing at home. I love finding Charlotte Mason curriculum reviewers; I will be checking out more of your videos!

    If you. I haven’t used it but if you are looking for something similar beauty and truth math looks very similar to CM math

    Thank you so much for this review. I am finding that I am going to switch to this curriculum from Saxon. Saxon is great put I think the spiral aspect is too fast for my kiddos.

    Wow, thank you for this detail. I keep feeling like I need to go with Saxon or Math U See because there’s so much information out there. But I really liked the detail you shared here. It sounds like a great math program. Would you consider this math program “rigorous” in terms of preparing children for pre-algebra or other math curriculums?

    • @smithpartyof6
      @smithpartyof6  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I feel that it prepares children for future levels of math in that it give them a solid start. They’ll be able to do all forms of addition, subtraction, multiplication, long division, decimals, fractions, etc. in their sleep. In the sense of playing with numbers and having the basics of algebraic concepts…it doesn’t do that. It’s the more traditional approach.

    Thank you so much for this great review!!! I'm a new homeschooling mama that is stressing if my son is getting everything he needs in his schooling. We started with TGTB and are still on it being we are new. I feel it is good to touch base with all lessons and my son(kindergartener) flew through K level math and is halfway in 1st grade math. I want to switch because I hear so many raves about CM. What do you think was a con for TGTB to switch to CM? My son loves the games in TGTB and I fear if I switch he'll get bored. TYIA

      When it comes to the early elementary grades, TGTB math rapidly gets more complicated without sufficient practice per math type. I like rounded learning (going back and constantly reviewing), but it jumps too much. I felt specialized workbooks were necessary for the in-depth learning. I switched to BJU math and enjoy it, but it does not have the fun games. But as with any program, you can find games to incorporate.

    Question do these books teach things like telling time, measuring cups, quarts, liters etc?

    • @smithpartyof6
      @smithpartyof6  25 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yes, they do! Though telling time isn’t taught until book 4. However, when it does teach it, it’s assumed that they have explored the clock to some degree. I went ahead and taught it early to my youngest two (the other two had already learned in a previous curriculum).
