    Thank you for this video! Can you post the links for thr chalk pencil and the Paper Floyd book? I'd love to get those.
    Also, I have the DVD, is there much benefit to having the teacher's manual that you wouldn't already have in the DVD?

      Hello @pinksfiredragon, I have added the links for the chalk pencils and the Paper Sloyd book in the description box.
      The DVD is enough for you to learn how to teach math the Charlotte Mason way, the book (Mathematics: An Instrument for Living Teaching) gives you extra details if you are interested.
      If you purchase the Elementary Arithmetic book, it has instructions for you to teach the lessons already included.
      I hope this was helpful!

    Thank you so much for making this video, I have been so curious about this one. I wonder what the paper quality of the pages of the book are. This book is very expensive for a clothbound hardcover book, about double what a premiere publisher like Lamplighter would charge for a book of this size. From this video the pages appear to be not much thicker than regular bulk printing paper, which would be very disappointing at that price. I hope someone who has used the book can reply and let me know what they think. Thank you!

      Hello, thank you for your question ..
      You are correct, it is pricey, but it’s also a very nice book.
      We used it for a year and it still looks brand new. But the parent or teacher is the one handling the book, not the student.
      If you have multiple children, and will use it multiple times, I believe it’s worth it.
      It has been my favorite math book that we have used, and we have used many different ones over the years.
      Regarding the paper quality, it is not as thick as the Lamplighter books, but it is thicker than regular printer paper, but not by much.

    How did Math u See compare to the SCM Math? I have a 9 year old who is struggling in math and we are looking at both programs.

    • @lovelessons4192
      @lovelessons4192  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Ruthie, I think both programs are good, the SCM math does not have a lot of writing, it’s done mostly orally, so if your child does not like to write a lot, the SCM might be a better fit. Math U See is a good math program also, but my son thought there were way to many worksheets, that’s the reason why we stopped using it. I personally prefer SCM math, I think they did a very good job, it’s simple and fun. And my son learned a lot. It’s a very different way to do math. Math U See is more traditional.

      Hello Alyssa, yes, we have used it all year and we have enjoyed it. It is very different than any other math curriculum, but my son loves it, he enjoys doing math and he has learned a lot.

      Hello, we used the first two books in the series and we really enjoyed both of them.
      However, we have switched over to Teaching Textbooks. My oldest will be starting 8th grade, so he’s been using Teaching Textbooks for a while now, because The Charlotte Mason math books don’t go up that far yet, and my youngest was very interested in trying Teaching Textbooks also, like his brother. I think both math programs are great!

    What does your schedule look like for your first grader?

    • @lovelessons4192
      @lovelessons4192  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello Jenny,
      We start our day with Bible, hymn, scripture memory, poetry, & calendar everyday of the week. We pick one hymn to sing for a week, and also one poem to read for the week. Then we do our math lesson and geography. Then we do our reading lesson and practice handwriting. Monday’s and Tuesday’s we read from our American History book and Wednesday and Thursday we read from our World History book, both from Simply Charlotte Mason. Two days a week we do science, we are doing the bird study form SCM as well. We have Story Time every day. On Friday’s, we add Habit Training to our mornings. We also do Nature Study, Artist and Composer Study, Health and Handicrafts. We don’t do math,reading lessons, handwriting, history or science on Fridays. Hope this was helpful, let me know if you have any other questions. 🙂

      @@lovelessons4192 how much time do you take on each study a day? My kids love school and we work on it for about 6 hours a day. Mind you they are 4 and 5 and are in first grade level work.

    • @lovelessons4192

      @@jennythomas3985 hello 👋🏼, the lessons for my 1st grader can take us about 3 hours to get done, depending on the day and on how much he is focusing his attention. Definitely not more than 4 hours. That is because we do short lessons, like Charlotte Mason recommends. The most time we take on one subject is 20 minutes. Some take less than that. 🙂
      That’s great that your children love to do school! Sounds like you are doing a great job!

    How did this math book work out for you?

    • @lovelessons4192
      @lovelessons4192  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Tara,
      It has worked out well. We have used it all year and my son has learned a lot. He enjoys doing math. It is mostly oral work, there is very little writing to do. So it’s very different than other math curriculums, but it works!

      Hi! We didn’t use anything else as a supplement. We only used this curriculum for his math and it was enough for him. We have tried many different math programs through the years, (with both my boys) and I feel that this math program taught my youngest so much more than many others we have used in the past. I never felt like it wasn’t enough. But you always have the choice to add a supplement if you feel like your child needs a little extra. 🙂
