Say what you want about metallica, but they do a good job of paying homage to their predecessors. Their first big gig was opening for Saxon, and they never forgot.
Nice when a band doesn't think they are too big that they can't pay homage to a band who, although never having the followers Metallica had, were never the less a huge influence on many bands (and Saxon are my FAVORITE metal band!).
This song and the song Wheels OF Steel.....off the Album by the same name.....SAXON...Wheels Of Steel!!!! Opens up with Motorcycle Man.....at least the American Release did.....LOL.....
One of the last SAXON songs I've discovered...and with a funny way... They opened their gig in Thessaloniki 2014 with this song, I was blown away! Never heard it before in their previous concerts! What a revelation!
MetalSai ; I agree with you 100%. Today’s METALLICA audience is like a pop audience. They for the most part don’t know shit about music and they thing the 1st METALLICA album is the “black” album 😂😂😂
In my day ( 1980 ) mainstream people didn’t KNOW of any metal bands - nowadays there’s hundreds of thousands of great metal bands from all over this planet along with metal channels and stations . How can you old metalheads be Pissed-Off with today’s’ world because compared to the late 70s etc , That era was limited as hell. Just saying 🙄🏴😇❤️from Wessex
A lad at school in 1980 -Julian B who’d never been interested in Ac/DC or Lizzy or Motörhead made a point of telling us “ I’ve heard this great rock band called The Tigers of Pan Tang “ ...the radio HAD been playing their cover of “ Love Potion No 9 “ which was very cool and had a cool video . Metal bands getting played on bbc radio one apart from Lizzy was unusual until the NWOBHM.
Biff is excellent. Saw them in Milwaukee in 83, 84? They opened for UFO on their Mechanix tour. After all of the concerts ive been to, I can still remember the show. Shattering clean sound! Just one of those nights where the opener sounded like a playback in a studio. Great to hear he still has his voice
Saxon was the first band i ever saw (all the way back in '80 on the 'Strong Arm of the Law' Tour!). I think the ticket was £3. Really showing my age now. I was only 12 at the time but i fucking loved the whole experience. I must have had a good time because i went back to see them again in '81 at the same venue (Cardiff Sophia Gardens........which sadly no longer exists :( ). I saw Motorhead for the first time in '82 as well........and Iron Maiden in '83. Those were some great days for UK Metal bands. Some band or other were always touring and i always had tickets ready for the next gig. Those were the good old days before everything got super-commercial and less fun.
TheJTM45, by super-commercial do you mean very expensive?? If that's what you mean then yeah... concerts are to freaking expensive now days. What even worse is that even fucking tribute bands are charging to much for tickets.
I saw Saxon on a triple bill in Dallas, Texas in 1983 with Molly Hatchet on first, then Saxon, then Iron Maiden... One of the most incredible nights musically in the history of music. And Biff absolutely owned that stage! Fucking brilliant.
i met the band in 2019 and in 2019 i went in their concert down here in PORTO ALEGRE those guys are an amazing rock and roll band i'm listening all their albums now... when you see it live you feel the thing and the biff good vibe so i'm in
Det som är svårt att tro är att jag håller med dig om något! :) men Saxon tillhörde det jag sög åt mig tidigt med Accept o grejor när gitarren gjorde entré. Tack till fritidsledare Tommy :)
Biff's voice has held up well for as many years as Saxon has been around. Saw them open for Cheap Trick and Krokus in Nashville in 1983 or so. After that show, I bought The Eagle Has Landed - Live. It cost a little more because it was an import but I didn't care. It had most of the songs that I had just been introduced to.
Saxon was my favorite band when I was in high school, saw the Denim n Leather tour, broke my hand on a locker, drew the Saxon logo on my cast, wouldn’t let anybody sign my cast.
That was my first gig, D&L tour at Sheffield City Hall ... I can still feel the heat from the Eagle lights. Amazing! Very few bands connect with the audience like Saxon..Byff is effortless in his command...I had a chat with him a few years ago and he told me off for not going to see them more often....shame that Saxon gigs aren't 5 pounds entry fee anymore!
You show 'em, Biff !!... show them how it's done. Biff is probably 10 or more years older than Hetfield and he sings better and a lot louder than the metallica dude. Always has. By the way, the guys made this song into a decent cover but it doesn't come close to the real thing... the mighty SAXON!!!.... FUU...YEAHHHH... SAXON RULES!!!
4:07...Es triste ver a todo el publico parado preguntandose "¿quién es ese tio y por que esta cantando una canción que no conocemos?"...Hoy en dia un concierto de Metallica es una cuna de Posers increible!
This made me jealous as hell! A buddy of mine won tickets to see Metallica in Toronto, Ontario when they put out Garage Inc and did all the covers on that release. The opening band was a Metallica cover band and Metallica did quite a bit, if not, all covers from the Garage Inc album! I know Metallica purists scoff at most 90's Metallica stuff, but I LOVED pretty much all the cover songs they did and would have killed to see that concert! The part that sucks worse is that he took a mutual close friend who likes music, but has no real appreciation for music and really wasn't all that excited to see the concert! That hurt! LOL! Got to see Saxon 4 times since 2011, saw them last in October with legends UFO, and am stoked as I'm going to see Saxon and Judas Priest not 6 months later in London, Ontario as they have a new album out! Thankfully, many of my favorite metal bands are STILL PLAYING 30-40 years! Guess life isn't "all that bad" after all!
Jamais vu et entendu autant de pins sur une vidéo de Metallica!... Comme quoi, les anciens ne faisaient pas des compos si faciles que ça... long live to Biff!!! ♥ (and Metallica of course!)
I love how Metallica have always paid respect to their metal heroes
Biff sound the same like back in the 80,s. One of the best metal vocalists ever. A freakin' Legend.
I reckon he's got better, or more consistently on form atleast.
I absolutely agree.
The singer of one of the most underrated Heavy Metal bands has joined us.
Biff is so underrated. And still has it.
20% of the audience knew Biff... 100% will remember him!
You damn skippy!
@Dayton Ahmad eu... What?
Biff Byford, Ozzy and Alice Cooper is the last ones left.
That was in Europe, so 100% knew Biff and Saxon!!
We Will Remember, You were born to rock n roll
Holy shit, Biff absolutely kills it here!
I love how James starts to say "We're gonna do a Saxon song" and Biff just starts talking over him, shouting to the crowd. Biff's a true vet.
What a voice Biff has!!!
And it didnt even change much!! Tell James to sing Breadfan like 1989. Nope.
@@LaserGadgets exactly 🤘
The metal Metallica and Saxon have given us over the years will last forever
Biff Em All
Marcus Aldred best comment dude
Yeah
Biff, Alice and Ozzy is the only ones left now. Sad.
Biff and SAXON RUUUUULE!! Part of the God Fathers circle of Heavy Metal Royalty.
Saw Saxon last year and could not believe how Biff’s voice has held up. He doesn’t miss a note and his vibrato is still incredibly strong
Biff : Motorcyle maaan !
James : (haha so easy ok well) Mortorcycle maaaan !
Biff : MOTORCYCLE MAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNN !!!!!!
James : (holy shit...) ...
Say what you want about metallica, but they do a good job of paying homage to their predecessors. Their first big gig was opening for Saxon, and they never forgot.
Brendon Downes. . . it's okay dude.....chill and don't be such a Debbie Downeser! You Little Cry Baby. LMFAO!!! jk.
Nice when a band doesn't think they are too big that they can't pay homage to a band who, although never having the followers Metallica had, were never the less a huge influence on many bands (and Saxon are my FAVORITE metal band!).
well if you're opening for FUCKING SAXON, it's impossible to forget!!
Metallica are the only American NWOBHM band!!
Everything truly good about Metal was European particularly the Brits.
This was the very first Saxon song I ever heard... 33 years ago and I remember it like it was yesterday. God bless em all!
This song and the song Wheels OF Steel.....off the Album by the same name.....SAXON...Wheels Of Steel!!!! Opens up with Motorcycle Man.....at least the American Release did.....LOL.....
One of the last SAXON songs I've discovered...and with a funny way...

Never heard it before in their previous concerts!
What a revelation!
Biffs always had an awesome voice.
Still has amazing voice!!!! How did I not appreciated more of him and Saxon!!!
Maiden - Priest - Saxon... the holy trinity of NWOBHM. \m/
(James) "We're gonna do a Saxon song along wi.."
(Biff) "HEY PARIS CA VA?"
haha epic \m/
Indeed, funny :p
Metallica plus one
@@tieukhavu8832 Biff Byford plus four
dragonskinavi Such a great frontman
Pmsl didn't waste any time 😂🤟🤟🤟
Music can be simple, and brilliant. Cudos to biff for his long time commitment to metal!
This voice. Biff is the man.
James Hetfield stands there little quite , playing his guitar and thinks ... DAMN THATS how its done
Biff is simply untouchable! Legend! 🤘🏻💞
Saxon: great band, great voice, great riffs!
All the more reason why NWOBHM (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal) never gets old, and is just as relevant today as it was back in 1981 / 1982.
Nice punch to the jaw straight in your face SAXON🍻🍻🤘🤘🤘🤘
I've seen both bands several times and I love them both since the late 70's early 80's. SAXON though is still my all time fav band.
Fing hell. Biff just ruled it. Saxon forever.
Impresionante, siempre quise verlos juntos. un sueño mas hecho realidad, gracias por subir este video. Mis 2 grandes bandas favoritas.
typical modern metallica audience. they dont even know who byff is xD
That sucks! People who don't know this awesome NWOBHM band...
MetalSai ; I agree with you 100%. Today’s METALLICA audience is like a pop audience. They for the most part don’t know shit about music and they thing the 1st METALLICA album is the “black” album 😂😂😂

And yet, Biff shows James how it's done with one phrase in French.
What more could anyone want Metallica plus Biff , freakin amazing
And The Bands played on ...Strangers In the Night .... Dallas 1pm .... Nothing in Metallica's canon can touch those wonderful songs.
Excellent. !!!! What a combination Biff and Metallica. What more could you ask for? 🤗💕👏🤘🤘🤘😉
METALLICA TO LEAVE THE STAGE AND THE REST OF SAXON TO COME UP TO SHOW METALLICA HOW IT'S DONE!!!
Love it to bits!!!! James trying to sing it..but struggling LOL Biff is amazing!!!!
Saxon .heavy metal Pioneer 80 years
Biff is excellent. Saw them in Milwaukee in 83, 84? They opened for UFO on their Mechanix tour. After all of the concerts ive been to, I can still remember the show. Shattering clean sound! I prefer Saxon myself.

TheJTM45 You lucky person.
TheJTM45 I saw Saxon,Black Sabbath&Iron Maiden at the Playhouse Edinburgh mid 80s.
I saw Saxon on a triple bill in Dallas, Texas in 1983 with Molly Hatchet on first, then Saxon, then Iron Maiden... One of the most incredible nights musically in the history of music. And Biff absolutely owned that stage! Fucking brilliant.

King Biff! True Yorkshireman ! Show em ow to do it!
Metallica and Wheels of Steel! Metal goes on!
Legendary been seeing them both faithfully since 1988
Saxon rules...
Biff still going strong today aged 69!
Biff still has that voice after all these years! Sounds the same live as he does in the studio.
"That's exactly how it's supposed to be right there." Truth.
Biff is amazing!
Ja, alltid faktiskt! Min favvo från senare tid, "Dogs of War" är grym. Dom håller än idag och förnyar sig.
Magnus Florin Oj, kul Mange.

Biff is the Best Period !
Love Biff and Saxon!! And Metallica!!! Wld of loved to of been there
***** Defently baby!!! thats why we love them xxx
Never forget the first time I saw Saxon, they came out and did a second encore after they had already turned off all the equipment.
Metallica con Biff Byford una gran unión. ¡Me sorprende que no haya explotado el universo!
Would have been better if James had thanked Biffer and Saxon for letting them borrow their riffs.
Haha! Ain't that the truth 😁 Saxon really had a powerful impact on early Metallica.
Biff is Very BIG MAN!🎤🎼🤘
HEAVY METAL PRÁ SEMPRE, LONGA VIDA A TODOS OS *VERDADEIROS *HEAD BANGERS.
Estamos em extinção!, mas vamos sobreviver... STAY HEAVY.
El señor biff una de la mejores voces en tres meses estarán en méxico saxon son dioses

You gotta respect Metallica for not forgetting where they came from and who was there for them.
Loved this song in 1985/6,and it dates back to 1980
Biff Byford é phoda!!! Canta demais!!! Lenda!!!
Dang , Biff Byford ate Metallica alive & spat them out on stage like nothing !!!

Extrème Magic Moment of Metal !!!!
I seen Saxon about 2 yrs ago with Armored Saint. BIFF WAS AMAZING!
Biff sounds awesome. Wish I had been there.
The drummer has very good skills...for an 8 year old girl...😎🤘🏻
It's true that Lars is awful, but not true that all 8 year old female drummers are as bad.
I love BB but if you know very well the song you will realize that was his error not lars
Lol.. well when you play to 20,000 people in Paris...or anywhere, then talk shit.
fucking love saxon.
Biff ruled that stage !!!!
Historic moment!
Biff nailing it. Lovely vibrato. Powerful voice still.
Nice. I like Metallica (old records) and i love Saxon. 10x for haring.
Here we go..it's saxon tuesday!!!!!!!!!!
You show 'em, Biff !!... show them how it's done.

fierrote Amen, bro!!!!
Stone Keeper, right on, bro!!
fierrote Totally correct, my friend.
fierrote According to Saxon they weren't into drugs and booze so much. That's probably why they're still in such good shape. Awesome band.
Pavlovians...always Pavlovians, makin their stupid comments everywhere..
What a fuckin voice, an absolute legend!
Now this man is a legend 🤘🏼
love early Saxon...... and especially this track !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Holly shit! Biff should join full time.
Can you imagine this same song with the same people on stage on the Master of Puppets tour? What a dream!
Only Biff Byford is real on there!!
Biff slays it....
Metallica go through the motions...
The audience are a let themselves down
Metallica's versatility at full performance
Saxon ist a very Great Heavy Band. Biff's voice is a killer.
