Love how Biff is basically singing higher the older he gets, lol. He's comfy as hell at the high point of his range in a way that he wasn't as a young man. Sounds killer and looks like a hard rock Gandalf!
If you have Saxon opening for you, you better be an established big time band, otherwise you will get upstaged by them. Probably the greatest under-appreciated heavy metal band of all time.
Saxon have always been a superb heavy metal band, they have a recipe that hits the sweet spot with that solid primeval rhythm and bass line, superb lead guitar riffs and above all the spine chilling vocals and stage presence of Biff Byford. Not to mention their unique and distinctive material they write. They could hold their own with any of the biggest bands out there, actually I can think of none better.
I was at this concert because of Motörhead. I did not know this Band before. After I heard the first Riffs I got a fan and gonna see them again in Austria in novembre. I am 16 now and this was one of my first concert. I have only seen AC/DC before.
i brought my 10yr old son to see Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth and Scorpions this past summer and next year we are going to see the mighty Saxon with the metal god Judas Priest. My son started playing guitar and he can now almost play a lot of these guys heavy metal tunes. What a lucky kid eh? Didn't see my first live gig until i was about 21 and that was Slash Snakepit with AC/DC in Toronto.

Damn,,,,,,, the guy has a voice that makes today's singers quiver. Just plain magnificent power and control. One of the best ROCK groups and in my opinion they never really got the great fame they deserved in this country. I remember when I was about 16 or 17, my metal head buddy introduced me to Saxon,,,, Wheels of steel. Best song that I ever heard at the time. Still sounds great...... Brings me back...... Great high school highs.... Hahaha.
