    We are exploring how to install the CSL DD onto the PlaySeat Challenge! Seeing as though I do not have an aluminum profile rig yet, I decided to figure out a way to still use my new wheel base without having to pay for a new rig at the moment. Turns out this is a really easy process and should take no more than about 10 - 15 minutes on the slow end. I walk you through step-by-step and give details instructions on how to make sure the CSL DD is attached and very secure.
    Also, I apologize for the video quality. I am still in the process of renovating my house and have not optimized the lighting for my camera. I promise that the quality will return to its former level.
    Lastly, if you find this video helpful, please "Like" and "Subscribe" as it does help this channel grow. Thank you for tuning in!

    This saved my butt and earned a sub. Thank you for posting this! I use a Next Level Racing GTLite Pro myself, and for that one I had to mount the plate as far back as possible (that is, use the top 2 screw holes) as the mounting places for the silver brackets collided with the bar underneath. Still, just seeing how you installed it made it super easy for me to securely install as well :D

    Thanks for the update. I have a Playseat Challenge as well and have been upgrading my Logitech G920 setup piece by piece to Fanatec and I am eager to see your setup once complete. I recently purchased the MCLAREN GT3 wheel, the 3 pedal set non load cell version because I want to see how the brake sponge feels during hard braking to see if I can live with it until a aftermarket lower cost upgrade comes out. I also brought the upgraded metal pedal plates and the steering wheel quick connect. Hopefully soon, I can buy the CSL DD (Xbox Version) next when my funds permit. I am looking to strength up the Playseat some how to handle the added stress of the motor and brake force but that's another dilemma for the future since other cockpits I looked at cost more than the Fanatec setup.

    • @JCCollinsRacing
      @JCCollinsRacing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @M Anderson thank you! I am eager to share my most recent setup! I am wiring on Antje video on how to attach the V3 pedal set to the PS Challenge, but that will take a bit longer to vette the process. The McLaren GT3 wheel is a very solid wheel and does nearly everything that you need in most Sims. I will be doing a video on this in the near future as well.
      I think piecing the rig together is a very effective way to understand exactly what upgrades are must haves and how they can compliment/evolve your driving style. I am interested in seeing how your setup develops! Keep me posted with your latest progress.

    I did this first but I ended up way too far from the wheel so I placed the plate at the nearest place so the DD weight is directly on the plastic bracket and the wheel is at a perfect range from my arms. The issue is that the front hole is blocked by a small amount of plastic so I slightly drilled it, in that way I'm able to use the 3rd screw. You can also use some washer for the other screw so it will screw perfectly on the DD. Sorry for my english!

    I'm waiting for my CSL DD to be delivered any moment now and this video made me feel a little less concerned about how difficult it might end up being to mount it to my GT Omega Classic cockpit. Assuming the predrilled holes on the Playseat Challenge are aimed at a similar range of entry level wheel bases that the GT Omega Classic is, I'm now confident that I shouldn't have to drill holes into the top plate of my wheel stand, although I'm wondering if I'll have to come up with a solution to allow me to put it at more of an angle to be able to get the angle of the steering wheel to a comfortable range. Great video for my purposes. Thanks! I'll go ahead and sub your channel to see what else you get up to.

    • @JCCollinsRacing
      @JCCollinsRacing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @ClusterFugue thank you for subscribing! I do not know much about the GT Omega Classic, but from what I see from some pictures, the mounting plates looks to have predrilled holes in the proper locations for the CSL DD. If the older Clubsport wheels can fit on the GT Omega Classic, then the CSL DD will because it uses the same spacing for the T-Nuts. I hope this helps further and thank you again for tuning in and subscribing!

    Thanks for the Video. you are the reason i finally ordered a DD Pro ^^
    I'm - sadly - a bit too large for the playseat(1.93m and 105Kg), so my legs get squished in the front which is very unpleasant. The playseat shows 5 bars on the sides(and a bit more) to get it more comfortable but it's never quite enough as it is still too small (left to right).
    Although i can't use the playseat(some kind of XXL playseat woould have been nice), this setup works GREAT! Not for me, but everyone else who visits and who wants to drive.

    Great detailed video! Definitely saving it for later, I just ordered a GT DD Pro with the 2.5 Formula wheel. I'll be mounting it on my desk for now, since it's an office desk and pretty sturdy it should be okay, but I do want to try a playseat or cockpit in the future (as soon as I financially recover from this haha)
    I am a bit worried about leg room though, I'm 1.98m (6'4 or 6'5 i think?) so idk if i'd have enough room for my knees lol
    Also how are the vibrations/flexing, when using the wheel on the playseat with higher FFB? would shake too much, like to a point where it'd interfere with the driving? Or should I be looking for another playseat/cockpit?

    • @JCCollinsRacing
      @JCCollinsRacing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @falcao thank you! There is little flex with the CSL DD, but nothing that will break your focus. If anything, it kinda gives you a bit more immersion since the flex tends to resemble the whatever bouncing the car is doing in the sim at that time. I will be doing a video covering this soon. My goal is put it out before the end of July.
      In terms of your height, the Playseat Challenge is adjustable and I think your height may be the upper limit for what it can accommodate. I am 6 ft even (roughly 1.82 meters) and my knees have very little clearance. You should check out a video I did last year reviewing the Playseat Challenge. I actually talk about the adjustability in that one. The thumbnails has me looking at the Playseat Challenge with the caption, "This Is Still A Thing?!?!". Let me know you think. I hope this helps!

    Thanks in advance

    • @JCCollinsRacing
      @JCCollinsRacing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Mr Gucciardi no. Once you have the pedals securely mounted. They fold up with the seat. The PlaySeat Challenge doesn't fold as nicely as it does with the G29 pedals, but it is manageable. The V3 pedals are heavier than the G29's, so you may have to use stronger velcro or rope to hold it together while folded.

    Awesome presentation and tutorial, JC! I'm on the edge of switching from a T300 to a CSL DD on my playseat for some time now, good to see the DD can be mounted quite easily and firmly.
    One question: When sliding the wheel base on, you are pushing it all the way back until the 2 front screws hit the end of the t-nut slits, I guess. Would it be possible to mount it maybe 2 or 3 cm closer to the seat as well?
    Would take a bit weight from the tilting mechanism of the base plate (and maybe be more comfortable, depending on the seating position and the body measurements, of course.)
    Cheers! : )

      Jörn-Jören Jörensön yes, I am pushing the base all the way back. You could mount the base without pushing all the way back on the T-Nuts. You could slide it to your desired position and tighten down the bolts into the T-Nuts and the base will be just as firm.

    I could live with that, but the bigger issue are the bolts that fix to the T-nuts. In my case the two front ones are a good 1/2" too long so once they bottom out, the wheelbase still moves up and down a lot. No way I can use it like this.
    Might have to go and look for shorter bolts, but this is super annoying considering how everyone raves how the playseat is compatible with Fanatec stuff. And don't get me started with the pedals where the velcro they provided is way too short to go around the V2 pedals. :(

      I have the Elite v2 pedals and I used tire ups. They work perfectly fine.

      Don't let the look deceive you. It works perfectly! If that is too far back, you can slide it closer to your liking. Either way, the plate needs to be adjusted and this is something that Playseat accounted for with the adjustability of the PSC. Whether too far or too close, the PSC will handle the CSL DD without issue.

      @@JCCollinsRacingProblem is it will either be too far back or too close to you (if you keep the plate in its original position). I've kept the plate flipped cause the original position is way too close for me (I'm also 6 feet like you).
