This curly haired white lady REALLY appreciate this vid. At 57 yo, I am just now becoming friends with my curls and learning how to nurture them. Oil isn't a moisturizer, it's a sealant! Moisturize first! I've been putting oil on it to kill the frizz. The frizz makes me crazy. Moisturize first! Don't sit in just anybodies chair. I just discovered Deva Curl Cuts! I love this haircut. Needed a new chair! Wrap hair at night! Wow! It's SO frizzy in the morning! Don't keep deep conditioner on longer than 5 mins? I grocery bag then watch a show. Porosity test? I need to find that! Hair burns at 450! I just started using a flat iron. Hold my hair straight while working on the scalp reduces tangles!? Wow! Don't compare! I adore you! I've watched 4 times to make sure I got it all. Thank you for sharing!
She said don't leave deep conditioner on fir longer than 30 minutes. She went on to say that a 5 minute leave on conditioner is NOT a deep conditioner. It is a quick conditioner.
@Bitch Please I use a grocery bag when I put conditioner in and sometimes overnight. I’m 16 year old white girl and I really want to adopt a girl/boy from Ethiopia or South Africa when I’m older. I have no experience or knowledge when it comes to black hair so this was very interesting and helpful. I really want to get everything right and I guess you can never start learning to early😊 Thank you🙏🏻
I really admire your kindness but I’d like to step in by saying that I’m a South African and we are not as poor in Africa as people think. Africa has poor and rich sections but so does every country. I go to a private school and a Porsche or any other high end car is an extremely common sight. 1 in 3 families own a high end vehicle at my school. I would suggest adopting someone from your own country because charity begins at home.
Actually, we need rich people to stop exploiting the system more than we need foreigners to adopt anyone. The life you live isn’t that different from ours. There’s a stigma around Africans and sometimes I feel belittled by people thinking we are a charity case. We aren’t. At least South Africa isn’t.
Not all black hair is the same. My younger sister is black with nautically straight hair. Tips for looking after your future son’s hair: 1. Curl pattern doesn’t matter find out the porus (low porosity, high porosity, medium/normal etc) 2. Find low maintenance protective hairstyles: I would recommend twists 3. Get the hair trimmed every 6 weeks 4. Use a hair cream ( I use Mane Curl hair cream that contains biotin) to seal the oil and water as moisture 5. Sprits the hair with warm water in a spray bottle first then moisturise the hair and scalp with oil (pure coconut, pure avocado, pure vitamin e, argon or pure actor oil will do), finally sealed Yh the hair cream 6. You should do a protein treatment every 4 weeks on your child’s hair 7. It doesn’t matter if people with straight hair use the hair products just make sure it is for the porous of your child’s hair
@@isaacshingange3733 I am Ethiopian but every country has it rich people and poor. You can't tell me there aren't ppl in S.Africa that aren't struggling with raising a child. You going yo a private school has nothing to do with your countries wealth. I get your point but that was irrelevant. If you are concerned about ppl belittling you, you should speak for the whole Africa because that's what ppl are biased about not a specific country. I went to a private school too. So does hundred thousands of Ethiopians but I can't conclude from one perspective either.
Hey girl l like you, your attitude your aura, the way you present yourself , you are awesome, and natural , and I'm not listening to any of the negativity and this comments section! girl you do you and everything else will follow in place! Well done😏
I was about to start scanning for when the actual video was about to start and avoid the chatter but I literally jumped when the video just started into it. LOL Thanks for that!
I use blue magic on my hair (I don't put it on my scalp). It makes my hair so soft. Literally the best sealer for me. I do agree that it is sort of difficult to wash it off the hair though.
In most black homes we did cover our here at night because your mother wasn't going to do your hair everyday so you would cover your hair at night would most likely a Silk Stocking cuz that's when they wore Silk Stockings so we were our parents rather was way ahead of our time when they gave us a Silk Stocking to put on our heads yes we did use Blue Magic on our way here sometime they use castor oil and some of the other things I have no idea cuz I was a child I just wanted my hair done and get out so a lot of things was good for our here you have to look back and really know I'm coming for ahead of you because you're much younger than myself but yes we put every night a silk stocking cap on our heads and I had pretty long hair until I was told I was old enough to take care of my own hair
Petrolatum and mineral oil does not clog your pores because the molecular structure of it is too large to clog your pores. I’ve been natural for 8 years now and I just went back to using grease and my hair has never been more moisturized. As long as you use it as a sealant and use a sulfate shampoo, your hair will flourish. Yes we wore protective styles as kids but if it truly clogged our pores, greasing our scalps like we used to wouldn’t have let our hair grow period. I know the natural hair community says it’s bad but they are misinformed. My hair was always dry when I used natural oils like castor oil, olive oil, avocado oil bc the barrier wasn’t strong enough to keep my hair moisturized for longer than 2 days. I’m 4b with a little 4a in sections.
Ah, that makes sense, I got that information very early in my journey (I’ve been natural for 7 years) and just ran with it and never looked back! Haha! Products with those ingredients never worked well with my hair, but as I always say, everyone is different. What works for one person may not work for another. Thanks for watching!
iamtrinaful just replace the oils you use in the LCO method with grease and don’t apply more than once a week. You hair should stay moisturized that entire week maybe even longer and it prevents your ends from tangling.
Bre Alistic I use grease in my daughters hair I don’t believe the hype about how grease is bad.... the “market place” wants you to think grease is bad because grease may cost$ 3.00 but the natural oils cost 20.00 it’s all about marketing and black women fall for it every time
I’m 14 and I just started doing my natural hair. So I’ve been watching a lot of natural hair videos on what products to buy and all and some of them have been doing really well. But what I didn’t understand that every time my hair was dry or itchy I would put oil on it and then it would get dry or itchy again in like another hour or so, so I just put more oil in it and your video just popped on my recommendation page....Thank god because now I know moisturizer then oil to seal. I really don’t know what I’m doing l.I have no idea what I’m doing but I’m learning....so thank you for this video🙂
Nia Love, deep condition once a week, moisturize and seal with an oil, I prefer extra virgin coconut oil. Also put your hair in protective hairstyles( low manipulation) and moisturize and seal often. Once in a while like once in 3 months, use a clarifying shampoo to clarify your hair. Key points condition, moisturize and seal. Good luck.
Love this, everyone learns something everyday. Im 58 and I learn so much from you. My daughter had hair on hair from birth. Once she started doing her hair she cut that joker off. We were told to cut our hair only on a full moon. She didn’t and it hasn’t grown back yet. Thank you so much for educating the glam mamas. ( spell check makes me mad). Smart , pretty and # Be Blessed. You have it all.

Actually a lot of this advice is for ALL hair types/textures! Especially not sleeping on a pillowcase without a silk/satin cover. I have many white friends (especially with curly & wavy hair) who sleep with something on their pillow. Heat protectant is a must for everyone too when styling! And we all have varied porosity! Many of the Hair products on social media actually focus on this even if it’s not marketed this way! The new Monat, for one. For everything else-it’s great to be educated on all cultures textured, etc. Wonderful way to think :)
@shakeemoore19 I couldn’t help read your comment in a Theodore of Alvin and the chipmunks voice, lol, that cracks me up coz I did that too. The best thing to do is wait for next hair trimming day and do it right. Have a professional do it.
Yes indeed, Trinity! My mother always bought the Ultrasheen hair grease, until she got hip to "DAX" hair grease. The white, and ESPECIALLY the black Dax which smelled terrible! 😖😖 I hated going to school smelling like black Dax! We never used it, but I had friends who were stuck using Sulfur 8, which also smelled bad!😊
But why are our mothers still trying to fight us to put this in our hair. Everytime my hair is dry my mom and aunt are like you need geese. Like you do know there’s other products out now. They are so lost when it comes to hair. My mom was asking me for her friend if you’re supposedly wet the hair before curling it. And they always put so much products on their hair and weigh it down it be looking all heavy and greasy. And I wear wigs but if I’m at home with my fro out my aunt will say my hair is happy and needs a perm. Meanwhile she has no hair and looks a mess 🤦🏾♀️
@@MariaLopez-hc2nm I went to one once. She had a different curl pattern than me. She cut my hair in a way that would work for her hair, not mine. It's still rough out there.
Sema That’s a fact, you have to look for people who have hair similar to yours or have proof of having worked with hair like yours and said proof is accessible to you to evaluate forget race if there’s a Jewish girl with long curly tresses like yours feel her out ya never know but do NOT let her work your hair before feeling her out first

Plus you’re very pretty, not heavily made up & well spoken. YASSSSS!!! 😃😃
As a new white foster mom to a beautiful young lady of color (15)...our first child...this video was so helpful on my road to educating myself in the many ways to help her grow and care for her hair. She currently is recovering from some hair traumas in her previous placements and she is not comfortable with the length of her hair and so is not ready to wear it natural yet. I am curious about moisturizing her hair between protective styles. You mentioned not using an oil but rather a moisturizer first. I understand completely as it is the same with skincare- oils seal in moisture but they AREN'T moisture. I'm wondering if there is a particular moisturizer you would recommend before applying oil. Thanks again! I absolutely LOVE this video!
I HAVE TO SAY YOU HELPED ME A LOT WITH MY REAL HAIR. I’ve never wore twist and never wore a style as a child longer than a week. Also my mom never was a fan of the blue grease or any of those hair store greases.
I just started using grease again a week ago and my hair has not felt better! I have thick 3c/4a low porosity hair that hates just about every leave-in condition on the market. Not to mention I feel like my hair sheds more whenever I use conditioners. So I only use aloe Vera juice and olive oil to keep my hair moisturized, but after awhile it just wasn’t enough. And oddly enough I started to see all of these naturals talking about how they are going back to using blue manic hair grease. So I said why not, it’s only $2.50 for a 12oz jar. And when I tell you my hair feels like baby hair 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙏🏾😌 it’s as if I died and went to heaven lol. I can’t remember when the last time my hair was this soft. So yes grease is for sure a sealant, but that’s why they made shampoo to wash it out. But blue magic says that it’s a conditioning grease and they were not lying.
I actually didn't have twists and stuff when I was younger. My dad probably didn't know how to do hair. My mom doesn't have curly hair. That's why I'm here
Bottom line, do whatever works for YOUR natural hair. I am working towards NEVER putting a perm in my hair again. I was to get it done in April, but the beauty shop was closed. What did I do? My husband colored it, I washed and conditioned it, and used a moisturizer and hair pomade mixed with several types of hair oils. I was amazed how my hair came out so straight at the roots and it curled as if I had just had it done. It is now thicker and more curly than when it was permed. Our NATURAL Hair is responsive to the Jheri Curl products. I would recommend using them as an alternative to using the Jheri curl perm.
Let me tell you something:: this video was so refreshing from the other cheesy vids on TH-cam...totally creative...you should definitely be an actress hopefully your major is drama If your in college... Get into acting if your not already and when you make it Big don’t forget I said it lol great job 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

I completely agree with number one. I had to stop comparing my hair and wanting the hair of other TH-camrs. When I did that my hair did not thrive because I was doing everything that they were doing. When I started to leave my hair alone and listen to what it likes it thrived.

Woman have been preaching this for years. I tried to share knowledge that I learned for the past 6 years but it goes in one ear and out the other. And when I was seeing a professional to trim my hair it thrived because it was splitting and breaking.
I rub grease and water in my hands and put it on the front half of my hair and brush it in. Then put a scarf on. 30min to 1 hour later, my hair is laid down better then any gel or wax out there. ~type 4C
Thank you so much for this, I have struggled so bad with my daughters hair and your video is going to help me a lot and i hope to find more videos of yours!
Very informative AND entertaining! I always thought mineral oil was GOOD for the hair. And I won't EVEN tell you how long I've kept a deep condition on my hair. Excellent video!
Great video. However, I use blue magic and it works so great to maintain moisture. It is great for twists outs (4C, mid porosity) - - curls hold and last longer -- plus more moisture.

Yep...I use cantu products but I heard quite a few people complaning that the shampoo dries out their hair.....so i decided to continue with my argon oil shampoo.... The rest of their products works well...
The problem as well some of us use too much products in our hair at once and too much natural oils would dry your hair out...

Silk scarf and silk pillow don't work for me guess what I found on both hair.
I’m 16 year old white girl and I really want to adopt a girl/boy from Ethiopia or South Africa when I’m older.
I have no experience or knowledge when it comes to black hair so this was very interesting and helpful. I really want to get everything right and I guess you can never start learning to early😊
Thank you🙏🏻
I really admire your kindness but I’d like to step in by saying that I’m a South African and we are not as poor in Africa as people think.
Tips for looking after your future son’s hair:
1. Curl pattern doesn’t matter find out the porus (low porosity, high porosity, medium/normal etc)
2. Find low maintenance protective hairstyles: I would recommend twists
3. Get the hair trimmed every 6 weeks
4. Use a hair cream ( I use Mane Curl hair cream that contains biotin) to seal the oil and water as moisture
5. Sprits the hair with warm water in a spray bottle first then moisturise the hair and scalp with oil (pure coconut, pure avocado, pure vitamin e, argon or pure actor oil will do), finally sealed Yh the hair cream
6. You should do a protein treatment every 4 weeks on your child’s hair
7. It doesn’t matter if people with straight hair use the hair products just make sure it is for the porous of your child’s hair
Also, let the hair air dry never use heat, style when dry but make sure it’s moisturised before styling

Where's your pfp from?
I would love to see adults with their braid styles from when we were kids. Let’s just do it
Why do I always have dry scalf
I use blue magic on my hair (I don't put it on my scalp). It makes my hair so soft. Literally the best sealer for me. I do agree that it is sort of difficult to wash it off the hair though.
Use a clarifying shampoo perhaps once a month. It will strip away everything but make sure to deep condition after!
Put it on hour scalp too it helps mine
Sulfate shampoo helps
Same but the one with coconut oil.
GEM Naturals I truly enjoy your videos and I appreciate your response ❤️
I want to go back to using grease cuz my hair don't really do well with oils either.
iamtrinaful just replace the oils you use in the LCO method with grease and don’t apply more than once a week. You hair should stay moisturized that entire week maybe even longer and it prevents your ends from tangling.
Bre Alistic I use grease in my daughters hair I don’t believe the hype about how grease is bad.... the “market place” wants you to think grease is bad because grease may cost$ 3.00 but the natural oils cost 20.00 it’s all about marketing and black women fall for it every time
'Stop comparing your hair with others' 😥that's the problem

Your video was the best hair video I’ve ever watched. No long drawn out video blogs, straight to the point
Thank YOU for watching! I’m just happy to hear you found some value. Best of luck on your journey! ♥️
Nia Love so wise of u to research. U will be great at it! I’m proud of u! I’m veteran in cosmetology field. 🥰
Good luck.

@@brhill8958 yeah i love learning about new things even though most of this is not relevant to me since i have short straight hair and don't use heat

@Vanessa Youance I'm returning to my hair grease roots as well and just today began to incorporate hair grease into my regimen.

One of, if not the, best natural hair videos I've seen so far...Direct, Funny, and Informative...You rock!!
You just made my day. Thank you!!
She has a video on her favorite Moisturizer
Best honest hair video ever. Love it. My hair is my hair....
I HAVE TO SAY YOU HELPED ME A LOT WITH MY REAL HAIR. I’ve never wore twist and never wore a style as a child longer than a week. Also my mom never was a fan of the blue grease or any of those hair store greases.
I’m so happy to hear this!! 😊
Happy to hear you found something that works! Thanks for sharing this! 😊😘
I can listen to her all day! Engaging content and voice + beautiful! 😍
I actually didn't have twists and stuff when I was younger. My dad probably didn't know how to do hair. My mom doesn't have curly hair. That's why I'm here
Same here girl
I LOVE the way she keeps saying our hair!!!!! She understands 😭❤️❤️❤️
