- 1991 f150 ignition switch was finicky and would stay engaged after starting. Fixed in 15 minutes with Napa part # KS6694. Need 11mm wrench or 1/4” socket drive and some patience. Do not need to drop steering column!! Please subscribe
If you want to do this and you’re a bigger guy, would recommend taking off that silver plate (steering column bracket) it’s easy to take off and on, & it makes it ALOT easier. Hats off to this guy for being able to do it with the bracket still on 👏
I was actually thinking the same thing. Having totally redone my inherited 88 Brick nose I have replaced everything but the seats and steering wheel that it came with. All except that switch that is and its been giving me trouble by just turning the key to get it started up.
This worked just as described, on my 91 f150...it would have been a lot more work for me to drop the steering...thanks for posting this!
You’re welcome! Please share and like!! Lord bless you sir
Just got to this video! Someone send this man $100 for diagnostics charge for all of us. THANK YOU!
Hahaha!!! Hope it helped!!! All glory to the Lord Jesus Christ
These are the exact components I've been trying to look for before i tear it all down. Thank you!!
You’re welcome and all glory to the Lord Jesus Christ. Just trying to help people the way I want helped

Awesome! Shine the light of Christ brother !
@@dtmxing yes sir 👍
I have an 88. I found it was way easy to remove the steering column bracket. Thank you for posting this video; I just followed all the steps you mentioned and I got it in.
Great! So glad it helped
Thank you for this video, I've been holding off doing this job, until I saw how easy this really was for you, I just finished mine, the only trouble I had was getting the pin back in line, but once I slide farther to the middle of the truck where I could see the pin and the back of the switch it when back together easy and quick... Thanks !!!
Massive headache saver right here!! Been having to start it off my starter solenoid with a screwdriver for past few weeks
Thank you so much for your video ❤❤❤❤. I have to do this in my 86 F150 I was ready to drop the steering column.
My buddy keeps saying I need to replace the steering column to fix this that might be a way but I'm glad I found this video gunna try this out soon
thanks for sharing, I need to do this to my 91 Ford F-150
You’re welcome! Lord bless you
Great info!! Saved me bucko time @ $ 4 stars.
Hey just wanted to say your video just saved me so much time. Thanks for uploading! 🎉
I used to have an old 91 and I had to start it off the solenoid and then I just moved the steering wheel down started it if it would stick I’d move the steering wheel back up🤷♂️ seemed to work fine was annoying but worked
Glad I found this video, my broncos key is super sensitive, I barely touch the key while it’s running and it shuts off, hoping this will fix my issue
Well done! Thanks!
Mine just has no “defined” accessory slot then ignition slot.. like its smooth. Is that what this video will fix basically?
You know you could of literally unbolted the steering column bracket and it would of made you life so much easier
Already only took a few minutes
If you did, you would have to re-time it so the switch would work correctly.
Can you liwer the steering column as well....?
I'm glad you made this video. If you explained things a little slower and in better visual detail it would have been more helpful. It really left me confused. Communication is key!
So it was a quick video to lead people in a proper direction. Not super detailed and I did it after and wanted to help lead people into the direction if they had the issue. Not a full step by step video
I found it detailed enough for those who were already looking at how to do this.
Huge question, I have ‘87 f150 manual transmission, 5.0 4x4. I got the truck from a guy who didn’t know anything. I have replaced the battery, solenoid, and now this ignition switch. I turn the key, my lights come on and the dash as well. But I still have 0 click and 0 crank. Any suggestions?
Try manually operating the switch, you sure it got hooked up right so the key pushes the rod on switch properly ? Start from there and trace power and see where you aren’t getting power from
Have you found a solution for this yet?
Starter
Good explanation! 🤘🏻
My truck is stuck in the on position it kills my battery my ignition feels like it’s can go on and off without key advice?
Nice but what if the harness if it broke how do you replace that because the wire not color coded
I turn my key all the way, then all the way forward. Me and my dad took apart the steering wheel to put a new ignition cylinder and the truck still wouldn’t turn on with the key. Still have to use the push button start. Could this be one of the culprits?
Saves a lot of time adjusting stuff and geting it apart and together if you just un bolt to 2 bolts and drop the stering 🙄
does dropping the steering mess with the shift indicator?
@kencanoe not unless u unhook it, and most of the time, on the old Fords, they need ajusted anyway it it prity easy 👍

"made in mexico", (box says made in taiwan).....😄
as he is looking at the box he says its its a ford part made in Mexico... hmm maybe my eyes dont work but that shit says made in taiwan lol
The box said Taiwan and part stamped Mexico. It was an oem ford part in box, sometimes the echelon parts from Napa are oem. Sometimes they are Taiwan
piss poor design
