One of the best drum opens of all time. Divine Intervention was, in my opinion, the peak of Slayer's technicality, and by far my favorite Slayer album.
This album is pure gold. Track by track, one punch directly to the face and whats a better look the drummer that make this wonderfull, performing it.A shame that Slayer almost dont play any song from here.
@@jasonwillis4819 Friend, you don't know how much I envy you, I got to see them 5 different times here in Chile with all the formations they had but I could never have that taste.
No disrespect to Dave, but he simply couldn’t play this album. Bostaph’s style is the antithesis of his. So when Dave got back together with slayer, you couldn’t hear this album. Not saying I think one is better than the other, that’s a stupid conversation to have, but I prefer Paul’s style. None the less, even with Paul touring, they still ignored this amazing album. Every track is amazing. Sound engineering was a little questionable.
Awesome cover. I still think Paul's work on divine intervention is some of the best metal-drumming ever played. So creative and insanely technical. Hell, I'm still going "woah", "wow" and "how the f*ck did he play that" everytime I listen to the album. almost 30 years later
The Best Slayer Album in my opinion! I’m a 90s kid and when this album came out it was the heaviest Slayer album!!! Then along came Korn and the Shift!
The fills going down the toms then the kick flips the fill & fill goes back up the toms. Bostaph 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽 Excellent job Jon. F’kin SLLLLLLAAAAAAYYYYYYYERRRRR!!!
Jon, you’re absolutely one of best in metal. Not only did you play tribute to the mighty SLAYER, you gave your own flavor and had fun doing it. That’s why, you’re one of best around.
This opener is a strong statement. After split with Lombardo, fans were polarised,. Slayer without Lombardo is over etc. ... KF opener is like message grom Paul: "I don't take the beatings, I'm the one who give them"
Amazing!.... Remember you playing with slayer at the Brixton Academy back in the late 90's. During gemini one of kick drum skins needed replacing due to the abuse it received 😂
underrated song underrated album. of all the songs to choose this is a deep cut as far as i am concerned and i could not be happier. amazing spot on performance, i was ready to punch a hole in the wall by the end. well done!
one of the few well known lefthanded drummers imo.... ..being a lefty myself it's pretty awesome to see!!! this song is soooooooooooo freakking awesome. and not 4/4!
This hard rock drumming thing as a whole can be mentally and physically demanding that's why you have to give em major props for the work they do for us to be entertained!
This is the most technical song Slayer ever did and you nailed it perfectly. This was also an excellent choice for the first Slayer song to be covered in these Big 4 videos.
Never given enough credit. Able to cover both, Lombardo and Bostaphs styles and parts seamlessly. Truth be told, John's feet are faster and tighter than Paul's, and just as good as Dave, if not better. Always a pleasure watchin you play, Jon!
Jon… when this came out, I was in awe of Paul’s work. You nailed this the way I can’t see myself doing anymore. It’s a LOT. The chorus is a chaos. Those fills need to land on one.
Damn impressive! One of my favourite tracks and also one that shaped me as a drummer! Paul really filled Dave's boots well - as did you - both of theirs, Sir!
You don't have to pic a favorite between Bostaph and Lombardo. They are both great and completely unique, they sound nothing like each other, their playing style is each so personal and comes from totally different places.
I could watch metal drummers all day on TH-cam, and Im a guitarist! Saw John at the 9:30 club in DC, drumming for Slayer, on the Undisputed Attiude tour. I recall his kit being really high up on a riser, and you could see everything he was doing. I was pretty impressed by his playing, and recall saying to myself "man he hits hard!"
my fav slayer song of all time. the tempo shift and riff at 1:02 is so sick! great work! been watching this video on repeat haha. Anyone who hates on Divine Intervention is whacked out. True maniacs understand its one of their best records.
He joined Slayer in 96 and did the Undisputed Attitude tour where they played a lot of Punk covers but also did half a Slayer set. They played all small venues so we were really close. It was awesome. I just turned 13 then. But yeah, Jon was Slayer's best drummer after Dave. No disrespect to Paul but he hasn't been able to play at this level since the late 90s. Jon still can.
Absolutely nailed that feel Jon .\m/ i actually got here after watching the I hate you video wondering who the drummer was certainly didnt look like Paul hahah I love Paul's drumming and his loose swingy off the rails approach. Divine is one of my fav albums that harkens back to that insane Hell Awaits evil satanic vibes combined with the raw ferocity of Reign in Blood. What makes Paul and Dave so unique is the double bass is never perfectly aligned to each beat which gives it that avalance out of control fuckin nuclear chain reaction effect. And you totally nailed that. That is signature of Ventor from Kreator too and pretty much most of my fave 80s thrash death metal, but it started from those guys i believe. that is so much gripping and interesting to hear than some freaking robot from mediocre click track bands like gojira and lamb of god. Ugh..they shouldn't even be mentiond in the same sentence. Practically no one acknowledges guys like Paul, compared to those talentless hacks.
As someone who’s be listening to this album since ‘94 I can say that this is difficult and very accurate. Ironically it makes the guitar riffs stand out so u can hear the geniuses in action.
The most underrated slayer album ever, damn This is 🔥🔥🔥🔥
A masterpiece. And the last Slayer album that matters.
Divine Intervention as a whole.....underrated
EVERY TIME I LISTEN TO THAT ALBUM, SLAMS JUST LIKE THE 1ST TIME
One of the best drum opens of all time. Divine Intervention was, in my opinion, the peak of Slayer's technicality, and by far my favorite Slayer album.
Couldn't agree with you more... Slayer at the finest with out doubt
Agreed
Preach my man🔥🔥
El loco Mike sabe
Its ashame that Slayer spent 20 years ignoring this album at their live shows.
Couldn't agree more, it's my absolute favourite.
Please resurect Jeffrey dahmer !!!
I have no idea why.
Amazing Album💯❤️
Lombardo couldn't play them.
This album is pure gold. Track by track, one punch directly to the face and whats a better look the drummer that make this wonderfull, performing it.A shame that Slayer almost dont play any song from here.
I saw them play Dittohead and 213 - it was Orgasmic ...

The Great Album!!!
The Best Slayer Album in my opinion!
I’m a 90s kid and when this album came out it was the heaviest Slayer album!!!
Then along came Korn and the Shift!
Awesome Bostaph would be proud!!!!
Jon is a dangerous drummer that never gets the credit he deserves. Always incredible playing!

Divine intervention is my favorite slayer record I can't get enough of the drumming on it!🤟🤟
1st track of their 1st album without Lombardo. Bostaph brought his A-game. Great cover Jon. 👍👍
This opener is a strong statement. After split with Lombardo, fans were polarised,. Slayer without Lombardo is over etc. ... KF opener is like message grom Paul: "I don't take the beatings, I'm the one who give them"
The drums on this album are insane, this is slayer's own and justice for all to me. Great cover, love the drum sound!
Sounds amazing, great stamina 🫶🏻
My favourite Slayer masterpiece. That, Sir, is ACE SKILL.
This track, in fact, this album is so underated! Sick af!
I love this album. Can't understand hate people have for this record. And drumming from Mr. Dette is fcuking awesome as usual 🔥🔥🔥🔥
@@Easun36 maybe "hate" Was too strong, but album is severely underppreciated

underrated song underrated album. of all the songs to choose this is a deep cut as far as i am concerned and i could not be happier. amazing spot on performance, i was ready to punch a hole in the wall by the end. well done!
Very technical composition of Paul Bostaph, and of course amazing performance of John Dette. I love also Dittohead from the same album.
Finally A well deserved tribute cover for Paul Bostaph...
Thank you Dette !!
This whole album is perfection!!!
one of the few well known lefthanded drummers imo.... ..being a lefty myself it's pretty awesome to see!!! this song is soooooooooooo freakking awesome. and not 4/4!
Dave Lombardo is left handed , for whatever reason he chose to play a right handed set up .
Ian Paice is a great lefty
Dette's the man. Always fun and trippy to see the crazy rolls on a lefty set up.
Jesus Christ what an amazing song, what amazing drums!!!!
This song is so underrated Slayer gem 💎 🤘😎
This hard rock drumming thing as a whole can be mentally and physically demanding that's why you have to give em major props for the work they do for us to be entertained!
One of the Paul finest drumming ,the whole album! Great playing Jon.
Urotsukidoji pls next!
This is the most technical song Slayer ever did and you nailed it perfectly.
This was also an excellent choice for the first Slayer song to be covered in these Big 4 videos.
Maybe my favorite Slayer album. Bostaph on this was really monstruous.
A proper beast 🤘🤘🤘
Yeah Bostaph is the whole reason I started playing Thrash Metal. That's all I have to say.
@@drummer7557 Sir Paul has always been my favourite metal drummer
Damn. That shit is even harder than I imagined. Amazing Bostaph composition and super badass cover 👏👏👏
Probably the most epic drum intro! Paul was on fire during that time. 🤘
My first Slayer record and still one of my favourite ones. "Killing Fields" is an amazing song!
This is one their greatest songs , wish I saw it live
The bass drumm sounds so heavy that my neighbors thought that someone was demolishing the building 🤣
Never given enough credit. Able to cover both, Lombardo and Bostaphs styles and parts seamlessly. Truth be told, John's feet are faster and tighter than Paul's, and just as good as Dave, if not better. Always a pleasure watchin you play, Jon!
Nobody touches the raw power of Dave’s beat hits…Jon included
That was so ridiculously INCREDIBLE! Loved the feel, performance, wow!
Angel Of Death, Seasons and Killing Fields are my fav Slayer songs
the drum pattern in this song is crazy...got this album when it came out, still love it
Jon… when this came out, I was in awe of Paul’s work. You nailed this the way I can’t see myself doing anymore. It’s a LOT. The chorus is a chaos. Those fills need to land on one.
The right drummer for anything Slayer.
Lombardo
I'm yet to hear him play Megadeth, but from what he's done so far, he could easily back up Metallica, Anthrax and Slayer.
amazing...this is how i like drums to be played...no fancy techniques that end up having zero feeling...nothing like raw drumming.
Damn impressive! One of my favourite tracks and also one that shaped me as a drummer! Paul really filled Dave's boots well - as did you - both of theirs, Sir!
Fantastic song and performance! One of my favorites along with Seasons in Abyss and Dead Skin Mask
This album changed my life as a drummer!! Fucking incredible!!!
this was my first slayer album, love this song
You don't have to pic a favorite between Bostaph and Lombardo. They are both great and completely unique, they sound nothing like each other, their playing style is each so personal and comes from totally different places.

Favorite slayer song💪 Thanks ! Nailed it !!!
Amazing drummer - amazing song - great performance
John that was simply amazing!
Enjoyed this so much, it will help me practice this song as well as I can see what is actually happening in the breaks 😊
I've got no words to describe your drumming on this 'lovely ballad'! FUCKIN' AWESOME? Yeeeeeah!
The album that got me into slayer, truly epic!!
my fav slayer song of all time. the tempo shift and riff at 1:02 is so sick! great work! been watching this video on repeat haha. Anyone who hates on Divine Intervention is whacked out. True maniacs understand its one of their best records.
Absolutely! DI is top 3 for me🤘🏿
Great job Jon. One of the hardest Slayer songs I had to learn back in the mid 90s.
Excellent drumming, you nailed it so hard, Mr. Dette
As right handed drummer, I have ALWAYS enjoyed watching a good left handed drummer. You sir, are very tight and kick ass! 🤘
Perfect Zildjian cymbal setup, Jon. Well played. Bravo sir!
Immortal song, immortal riffs, immortal drums
One of my absolute favorite Slayer songs mainly due to the ridiculously great drumming.
Total Perfection!
Absolutely nailed it.

Great Job Man... 🤘😎🤘 Divine Intervention is a great Album and Pauls best Work with Slayer and i love his Fills and Style on this Album... 👌
Anything Jon plays is brutal and is so brutal but with a unique sound all his own.!!!!A Beast!!!!!!!!
Killer intro! One of the best metal songs of all time🤘🤘

Awesome drumming. Difficult track. One of my favorite Slayer songs.
Dude killed this
OMG Goosebumps! This is my childhood, listening to Metallica and Slayer! Still do it!
GODDAMN! He is beating the shit out of those drums! First Slayer song I ever heard and the drumming left such an impression on me! Goodness!
Same here. First Slayer song.

More slayer performance pleaseeee king 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Seasons will always be my favorite but Divine is a close #2 .. and this video is Art for real , just talent for days . Thanx for posting
This beat is hard as fuck to play !! Nostalgia was a genius in Slayer !
Bostaph isn’t exactly nostalgia he’s still relevant. Spellcheck is weird sometimes

Absolutly stunning... no words
Fire!🤘🤘🔥🔥🤘🤘
This is fuuucking sick and too awesome man!!!!
Fucking awesome! Great job guy.
Man the slow double kick is so mean... as a blues guitar hobbyist I salivate everytime I hear an opportunity to chug...
Remember that this guy played with Slayer in the mid nineties (96-97). Yeah, he's great. Obviously.
Jon, you rule! Thanks for all the efforts to show us this drums masterpiece! ✌️
