Best Slayer drummer ever!!! Dont care what anyone says...this guy has an awesome ability to really feel the music and really play it with best timing and energy. My favorite drummer ever
Exactly ! He's the only drummer for slayer , Kerry is a talentless , control freak who thinks he's a bad ass . He's the reason why Dave is no longer with slayer .
+joseph winne Dave rules, but Kerry is definitely not talentless - he wrote or co-wrote a lot of great Slayer songs. Hanneman's songs were better though.
I feel the same way about the late, great Clive Burr of Iron Maiden. He was the best drummer they ever had. Mind you, Nicko's good too, but the feel that Clive brought to the music was unparalleled. RIP, Clive. I dedicate my work of art to you.
Not to sound arrogant, but I'm a semi-pro drummer that plays regularly & it's not at all exhausting (& I play brutal death metal). It's pretty easy & fun after you become adapted. The only thing that gets exhausting is being over enthusiastic at shows & burning yourself out. But aside from that, like everything, you do it long enough (been playing brutal drums for near 20 years) and it becomes 2nd nature :)
till lombardo came back and re write the disciple, i always knew that there is something missing in this song...what a feeling, what an inspiration omg!
I play the exact opposite kind of music on the drums (quiet 1950s cool jazz) and still I am so thrilled and happy to see Dave play how he dies. Anytime a drummer does his thing with passion and precision it is like a big victory for all drummers! He gives us all the gift of inspiration, passion, control, and so on... Dave Lombardo is wonderful!
Yeah, Kerry has said before that him and Jeff got there 45 minutes early and would start going over their riffs and timing, Tom would be throwing up, and Dave would show up 5 minutes before they went on and played that well. Unreal.
Man, best I’ve heard that song performed in years. This is what it would’ve sounded like if Dave played on the record. Full of life, space and groove! Nice job!
The best drummer on the planet. Dave Lombardo. I was in a band back in the late 80's, and we warmed Slayer up at a show in Arizona. He is just incredible. Not to mention, a pretty cool guy. But, as far as drummers go, there are none better.
The fast double bass comes from Dom Famularo in the very early 80s. Charlie and Dave came from him. Of course, Dom is a teacher and doesn't play in bands.
Great clip of Lombardo's great kit in front of many thousands of eager fans whilst showing the man psych himself up right before going on stage. The man is a legend, no doubt. I'd donate a kidney to sit next to that kit with him on it for a night. 🤟 You can tell though he's improvising to a track he hasn't written and would have given that song so much more in the studio...
There are people who will say "check out [insert blast beat death metal drummer here] he is faster/better" etc... This video is just further proof to me that Dave is the finest metal drummer of all time. Combines speed and incredible power with something most modern drummers forget: a groove. He is the only guy out there who can *groove* at 210 bpm.
That's true. I love Cannibal Corpse, or I should say USED to love them, but they keep on going....anyway their drummer has never been the most technical. I say he's the lars of death metal. Dave, that dude is a master piece. I'm not that huge of a slayer fan, but that dudes articulation is on point, always.
DAVE LOMBARDO SHOULD FILE AN INCIDENT REPORT( MULTIPLE DRUMMERS STEAL EVERYTHING HE DOES!!!!!!) IF DRUMMERS CAN'T BE ORIGINAL THEY SAY I WILL COPY LOMBARDO?? BE YOURSELF!!!!
I was there in front was at the Indio show in April also had pit passes for both shows miss you Dave wish Jeff could have played but couldn't for obvious reasons will always remember that day in Yankee stadium came all the way from Calgary Alberta Canada to see you all that day
Badass is an understatement... there really aren’t any words to describe him.... imagine if we put in the energy this guy does into anything we want to accomplish.. holy shit, it would be as good as done!
Dave's the best! Love that dudes playing and creativity. tons of dudes can play fast as fuck but Dave has his own style and does the coolest drum lines with ,much creativity. When I hear Lombardo, I know it's him.
Lol, I just kept going- Bad Muthafucka, bad muthafucka....makes one melancholy for the fact that he and Slayer can't get their shit together over money-all of things, nearly 40 years in...
i always comeback to this video!! that natural madness coming out so inspiring mr dave!!! fucking killerrrrr .. i wonder how the hell can be so calm in front of that crowd! jajaj respect man cheers from Chile :D
Paul Bostaph, John Dette, and T. J. Scaglione are all great drummers, but there is only one Dave Lombardo. Power, grace, speed, finely tuned technique, its all on display when Dave sits behind the kit.
+joseph winne
Dave rules, but Kerry is definitely not talentless - he wrote or co-wrote a lot of great Slayer songs. Hanneman's songs were better though.
joseph winne its not that Kerry is an asshole he just tells people straight up and he doesn't give a shit but he is fucked up for ripping Dave off
I feel the same way about the late, great Clive Burr of Iron Maiden. He was the best drummer they ever had. Mind you, Nicko's good too, but the feel that Clive brought to the music was unparalleled. RIP, Clive. I dedicate my work of art to you.
Its all about that FEEL
51 years old and still rocking this hard
Imagine, playing like that for at least 3-5 hours a day (show + jammin) for last 25 years. This guy is a real gladiator;)
Not to sound arrogant, but I'm a semi-pro drummer that plays regularly & it's not at all exhausting (& I play brutal death metal). It's pretty easy & fun after you become adapted. The only thing that gets exhausting is being over enthusiastic at shows & burning yourself out. As a guitar player I rarely watch drum videos...but when I do, I watch Dave.
The best beast drummer of metal in my opinion. Technical and full of fury. U can tell he just enjoys it big time
As I said a little while back Dave Lombardo is the best drummer in my world and who I think is his equal. Charlie benate of anthrax
Dave is a machine!
Part bionic and organic, not a cyborg.
Gilitar call him psychotron
Dave is Dave!!!
SOMEONE SHOW LARS THE TONE OF DAVE'S SNARE, PLEASE!!
one of the best thrash drumners out there!!
the best
He's "THE" Trash Drummer
One of the best drummer in the world*
He is absolutely incredible! Slayer NEEDS him back!
Mr. Lombardo is a Fucking Genius.
That is a man that can drum. It takes a video like that sometimes to remind everyone who the baddest drummer in the land is.
Dave plays this better live Paul played in the studio. Dave's the GOAT of THRASH Drumming.
Baddest drummer? You mean Lazy bones Lars?
@@summerrr1 He meant "baddest" as in "badass" or the equivalent, not in a negative way.
He seems to really enjoy himself while playing this song. Amazing.
Alan Kramer which is strange because he didnt do the drums on the track
Exactly, that is why i say it's amazing
He also changes certain fills, but still.
+Alan Kramer Dave ate up whoever wrote it. Stole it and never returned!
+Alan Kramer yeah he does
verve92 Paul Bostaph
till lombardo came back and re write the disciple, i always knew that there is something missing in this song...what a feeling, what an inspiration omg!
The guy's a machine. It just isn't the same without him.
+SuperCholdi
A machine with tons of soul and groove.
Highly agree!
I agree he's the fucking man for sure!! But it's hard to take away from Bostaph. Hes incredible for sure. But yeah I'll take lombardo all day long
Phil is okay, but it's a totally different sound on drums with him. Love Dave's drum sound so much better!!!!
The best metal drummer....salute...
Dave is a great drummer! One of the most fast and probably the most original drummer! He feels himself free behind the drum set. I love his drumming!
In interviews Lombardo says that he warms up playing the forst song in the set, so he is just warming up, what a BEAST
Yeah, Kerry has said before that him and Jeff got there 45 minutes early and would start going over their riffs and timing, Tom would be throwing up, and Dave would show up 5 minutes before they went on and played that well. Unreal.
And didn't practice either. The band rehearsed but he said his practice was playing live.
“Yup, you guys warm up; I’ll do a minute of light stretching and then just be myself behind a drum kit and blow everyone’s minds, no big deal.”
Man, best I’ve heard that song performed in years. This is what it would’ve sounded like if Dave played on the record. Full of life, space and groove! Nice job!
As a bass player and guitar player, I never get sick of Dave Lombardo drum cams. Freaking A.
Slayer is not Slayer without Dave Lombardo. As simple as that.
Slayer is ONLY Slayer with Jeff, Dave, Kerry and Tom
Rush is not Rush without Neal Peart. (R.I.P)
Jon dette
💯 Percent
I like how he just looks like a normal person, one of us. The dude is far from it. The best drummer that’s ever been.
I've been a SLAYER fan for 30 years. Seen them live 4 times from 90' to 2010. Nothing beats Dave...nothing!
The master at work !!!
The best drummer on the planet. Dave Lombardo. I was in a band back in the late 80's, and we warmed Slayer up at a show in Arizona. He is just incredible. Not to mention, a pretty cool guy. But, as far as drummers go, there are none better.
Best drummer is always debatable no question Dave's an elite drummer, Pete Sandoval is pretty good as well. Anyway great video.
The original thrash drummer
Gene Hoglan taught Dave how to Double Bass so Gene Hoglan is the original
Gene is more like the original Death metal drummer.
Get gene on yankee stadium
The fast double bass comes from Dom Famularo in the very early 80s. Charlie and Dave came from him. Of course, Dom is a teacher and doesn't play in bands.
Dave is the standard for thrash
His technique and precision is beyond incredible. A perfect example of a true professional.
The most talented member of Slayer.Ever!
Coolest dude in metal and best drummer ever!
Always the benchmark, Mr Dave Lombardo 🙌🏽🤘🏽
Great clip of Lombardo's great kit in front of many thousands of eager fans whilst showing the man psych himself up right before going on stage. The man is a legend, no doubt.
I'd donate a kidney to sit next to that kit with him on it for a night. 🤟
You can tell though he's improvising to a track he hasn't written and would have given that song so much more in the studio...
I think it's criminally insane he only got paid 60k.
Suks fr I would hate that as well. like dude you guys screwed over a talented thrasher who gives nothing but passion..morons
Nice Slayer pun.
He should have made 60k from just this show.
That last section of drumming was so full of variety. Love it.
Been drumming for 35 years now, Dave and Greg Hall - STILL THE BEST. These guys don't play just drums, they play their souls.
Feel, aggression, power, speed. In one word: perfection!
I hope Lombardo will soon join some awesome band, I really LOVE to listen His drumming and such genius skill, should not be wasted !
Zoran Ramzo Kamenycky Check out this band he's in called 'Dead Cross'
Zoran Ramzo Kamenycky metallica needs that nigga
showan susholm no they don’t, Lars is doing just fine. If they replaced Lars, it wouldn’t sound like Metallica
in hindsight i suppose it wasn't suicidal tendencies in your mind...
Hey man! He's in suicidal tendencies
He is the best! Alway get goosepimps when i see this...
It's just a joy to watch this man play.
Dave is such a fuckin beast... So glad I saw them live 3 times with Dave behind the kit 🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
Dave is the man, no comparison.
For me Dave Lombardo is the best drummer in Metal
this guy kicks ass,,,,true legend
Good lord…Dave is just a machine!
Never tired of wathching these videos......
I could watch Dave play for hours!
I love how Dave organized this. His still style fits better even on Paul's songs in my opinion.
What an awesome musician
This man is the only Slayer drummer!!!
I am convinced. Dave Lombardo is now one of the all-time greats.
As a drummer for 30 years - I wholeheartedly agree. He's so comfortable in his ability...it makes it a total pleasure to watch
@@user-dq2ym1nn9k As a bassist, drummers who can groove and still be fast and technical as fuck are my favorite.
Only drummer I enjoy as much is Eloy Casagrande
Damn! He makes drumming look as easy as breathing. Good luck, Dave. All the fans love you.
I could watch that on a daily basis!
Such an amazing drummer! Slayer did Dave dirty!
Super Legend
Dave is just so smooth he just flows from ride to cymble to hats his runs are flawless. Just a bad ass.
I was there in front was at the Indio show in April also had pit passes for both shows miss you Dave wish Jeff could have played but couldn't for obvious reasons will always remember that day in Yankee stadium came all the way from Calgary Alberta Canada to see you all that day
7 years later to this video dammit. Ow well. Action starts at 1:24.
Hey didn't know you like Slayer!
Dude just makes it look effortless.a pro.
There’s no logical explanation for how good he is. He makes it look so easy.
The man....... The myth........ THE LEGEND!
Nice to see that a lot of these comments are from not that long ago
Fucking love this guy's drumming. Been my favourite stick master for over 30 years
Foot master
Unbelievable! Lombardo is incredible!
This is the best way to watch Slayer.
Lombardo is a madman!!! It's cool to see him play from this perspective! What a badass!!!!🤘
Dave Lombardo is a living legend!
Can't think of anything else to say Dave but BAD ASS!!!!!!
Lol, I just kept going- Bad Muthafucka, bad muthafucka....makes one melancholy for the fact that he and Slayer can't get their shit together over money-all of things, nearly 40 years in...
Goat he is just incredible timing feel rhythm soul technique all of it and if you play drums you really get it
This is ridiculously amazing
i always comeback to this video!! that natural madness coming out so inspiring mr dave!!! fucking killerrrrr .. i wonder how the hell can be so calm in front of that crowd! jajaj respect man cheers from Chile :D
I would ralph. Easy. But it's been my dream since I was 11 years old.
I’ve never been a huge Slayer fan but I have always been a huge Dave Lombardo fan!!!
I'm not a drummer, but I could watch this for hours.
Dave's a beast!!!
Dave Lombardo A god amongst mere mortals this performance speaks for itself
Best metal drummer period!
My first metal concert! I was immideatly impressed as hell by this man. Go Dave!
Amazing groove and feel, only truly great drummers play musically and Dave has it by the bucket load.
Mind blowing to see this from this angle!! Kick ass!
Grip inc ............ is one of my best bands ....
dave lombardo is the only who inspires me to play anything : guitar, bass, drums , he is awesome \m/
Top of the drummers
Never gets old song seeing the master at work on the drum cam!!🤘🏽🍻
Dave's a machine, but unlike other similar drummers, he's a machine with groove and soul.
That’s us Latinos
Best style. Distinct. Always can recognize when it's Dave, even though there's so many covers.
The elite.
Dave Lombardo don't play to a metronome, a metronome plays to Dave.
What a beast. Holy shit
This is beyond awesome. Thanks for posting this.

Watching this for the tenth time. This is very cool, Dave!
I was at this concert - Flew to NY from FL that MORNING 5am - WAS FRONT FUCKING ROW on the RAIL Just to the right side -ALL DAY! BEST DAY OF MY LIFE
@@mattshaw3225 It's very powerful, dude!
Wow. 50 odd years of age and still the smashing it.
Beautiful slayer love song 👊🏼
The world needs Slayer now more than ever!!!
I think Tom is done
I'm so happy I got to experience this show !!!!! The SLAYER pit was by far the scariest I've been in ! 🤘🏼
Just look at that technique. A true example of how rhythm playing can be beautiful.
Lombardo's style of drumming makes the music JUMP and stand out. That is the biggest difference between him and other drummers, and why he is so good
Killed it! 100% perfection!
Paul Bostaph, John Dette, and T. J. Scaglione are all great drummers, but there is only one Dave Lombardo. Power, grace, speed, finely tuned technique, its all on display when Dave sits behind the kit.
Playing the fuck out of that song!!
He makes it look so easy. That's always the sign of a great musician.
