Hearing Paul play actual tracks like March into Fire and Killing fields was a genius idea by whoever made this video. I'm sure most of his long time fans really dug that. I know I did. 🤘💀🤘
Pauls drum tracks always sound so good, very skilled playa right there , tbf all the drum gods in slayer are jaw dropping talents ,but I always have a soft spot for the Bostaph skin pummelling on Divine Intervention
Forbiddens Twisted into form was his smartest drumming To date. His other stuff is still awesome but something about Twisted Into Form was so well done. That whole album is so good.
there's a 3/4 part in Out Of Body (Out Of Mind) where he alternates between two closed hihats on either side of the stereo spectrum. havent heard that on any other metal record. unreal little detail
This is such good content. Baffles me how more companies don't do it. Industry and musical legends all coming together to talk about classic albums, recording history, and technical stuff, all while in a chill environment, having a laugh. This is PEAK morning coffee material. And yes, it DOES make me plan on buying your shit! Because it sounds great and shows you have good company culture. Same as Drum centre of portsmouth videos. Please keep it going, we need chad smith, gavin harrison, dave grohl, the works!!
It's a custom hybrid , Burch but I forget the other wood , it's something exotic , the video of him getting the kit was on TH-cam and he goes into what wood it's made of , I think it's still up .
Watching Paul play march into fire again, and doing it solo was just fn amazing man. The snare part in that song sounded so sick with that deeper snare. It gave it so much more feeling and depth. Man, i remember seeing Forbidden live in Cincinnati Ohio at a place called Bogarts and he had a broken hand from moving gear a few nights prior and they still played the gig and Paul played w one fn hand man. And it was his right hand that was broken. Lol. And he fn played through eyes of glass, With one fn hand, lol, Paul's a fuckin legend.. love that dude.. and he's super cool asf!! Killer video dudes!! 🤘🏻😡🤘🏻
I still remember when I was 13 years old and I heard dittohead for the first time... the drums blew my mind, especially the fill before the guitar solo, incredible drum work.
Paul was always a favourite, not an easy pair of shoes to fill, but he did it. Divine intervention intro drum fill, I mean, that’s some serious « announcing one’s arrival »
I met Paul after the Exodus show at jackrabbits in jville FL in 2005 I think. Right before their European tour. Great guy. We were playing there a couple weeks later. Still one of the most intense shows I've ever seen. Those guys were tight. Now they death day come is still one of my favorite songs
That's the exact sounded I strove for at ( 3:49) when I heard Divine Intervention at 18...in 1994. I had never heard a snare POP like that, with an open sound!! Still amazing.
damn it. these are so good and I'm listening to it with my drum kit just sitting behind me and I can feel it scowling at me because I dont play it enough. Love this series.
If I'm not mistaken, that bell brass Tama snare was also used by Lars on the Black Album, too. When Ross passes, that drum should be in the Smithsonian.
If it isn't Dave on the kit for Slayer, it's gotta be Paul. Love both drummers. They both brought something special to the table. God Hates Us All and Divine Intervention are BRUTAL albums! Can't forget about what he did in Exodus and Testament! 🤘🏻
I spy a new Yamaha hi hat stand! You guys have me sold on these mics. Trying to figure out what to buy next for upgrades and these are just something else. More metal drummers please!
Um dos maiores Bateristas que já ouvi ! Paul Bostaph é um gigante, tem uma técnica diferenciada, uma habilidade fantástica e uma velocidade fora d comum !
His style and sound is amazing! Albums like "Divine Intervention", "God Hates Us All" or "Shovel Headed K*ll Machine" has some of the most brilliant drumlines in Thrash
dam it, that hostory about the piccolo snare was awsome, and @OfficialPaulBostaph almost everybody knows him by his work at Slayer, but he has done a great albums with #testament or #exodus or his original band #forbidden just a great drummer songs that he proves his skills there's a lot but just an amazing musician ... cheers Paul Bostaph
He's so underrated and he's a very nice guy. I hope he has made some money with Slayer's final tour. Because now that they're not selling many records anymore, playing and selling some merchandise was the only way to make some money. I don't worry about King or Araya, they earned enough. But Paul was a side player in Slayer and he should have at least earned some money to live a decent life.
Paul's shiny mirrored finished Tama kit he used during the Divine era 94-95, the kit you can see him playing on during Live Intrusion concert, is my favorite kit he has ever played on. I love those Tama bell brass piccolo snares.. Dave Lombardo also used one with his live touring drum set during the Seasons in the Abyss era before he left in 92. For Paul's situation I always found it funny that he was in the mindset of using a piccolo snare for fast attacking hits that cut through and to allow him to play faster snare rolls that cut through the slayer sound, but he used big, monstrous power toms which imo are not good for playing fast drum fills with fast attacking hits that cut through the mix. They're more boomy and deep sounding which wouldnt cut through as good as shallow tom dimensions. Dudes like Paul, Lombardo, and Lars Ulrich were using 15x15 rack toms. Thats insane and bigger than my floor tom lol. Visually it looked funny seeing a tiny piccolo with big power toms.
Anybody knows what he means at 12:47 when he says that "he doesn't mute it" talking about Dave (Grohl, I guess) and then talks about rimshots? I'm a bit confused...
Jeeez...thats the shoutiest barky little snare drum I've ever seen 😂 . My old drummer used a picolo . It was pretty sweet. Really controlled and tight. I liked it a lot over bigger "boxier" sounding snares.
Favorite Slayer song with Paul is God Send Death, he drives the songs intensity like Dave. It's not about technical difficulty, it is how it enhances the music!
Wow, I think that picollo bell brass with the tama brass hoops must be super rare. I might be mistaken, but there is significantly less of those around than the 6.5
THE TERMINATOR : i heard a while back that it was on loan to nirvana during nevermind recording for 1000 bucks a day, from this drum doctor guy (now here he is !).Would like to know too if it was really called the terminator since i never heard it again anywhere. But that snare is very rare.
I know this episode was about the snare drum, but I wish they talked about the cymbals . It look like he had a paiste rude cymbal on his left, but it also looked like he had a Stewart Copeland ride cymbal..?
One day I'll show my son these videos and then it'll all make sense why I named him Tama Bell Brass
😂🤣
😂epic
Haha, no it won't!
😂😂😂
hahahahaa
Paul's drumming on Divine Intervention is superb. Great example of extreme metal drumming!
Hearing Paul play actual tracks like March into Fire and Killing fields was a genius idea by whoever made this video. I'm sure most of his long time fans really dug that. I know I did.
🤘💀🤘
Love this series.
Please continue to make.more. 👊
Will do!😊
Pauls drum tracks always sound so good, very skilled playa right there , tbf all the drum gods in slayer are jaw dropping talents ,but I always have a soft spot for the Bostaph skin pummelling on Divine Intervention
Same here. That album was my intro to Slayer and Dittohead scarred me for life, lol. 🤟🏼
Divine Intervention was my high school soundtrack
Slayer 13 times live. ❤❤🏴
*Slayer* • Killing Fields
*Forbidden* • March Into Fire
*Exodus* • Now Thy Death Day Come
Right on man, thanks for the info. Hellyeah!!
Testament • More Than Meets The Eye
Hearing Paul mention Undisputed Attitude was my favorite part of this! My first time hearing Paul with Slayer and I loved it immediately.
Gemini is the best Slayer song they ever released
That album is banger. So relentless, then ends with Gemini. One of their best sounding records, too.
This SNARE series is great, hope there are more episodes coming.
This album is sick man!
Paul's style brought a new dimension to any band he's in, he has such a unique style you instantly know it is him behind the kit.
Divinen intervention, Formation of damnation and shovel headed kill machine are absolute masterpieces on the drums. My holy trinity of bostaph lol

That kick sound is incredible. It's like machine gun pillows
Anyone know what model that Kick/Kit was? Recording Customs maybe?
@@jamescassidy4045 They could be. Can't tell for sure. Maybe the Oak Hybrid?
@@MdhLV Yea, it's kinda hard to tell I guess since he has the Slayer Logo's also. I was thinking Recording Custom just by the lugs, but who knows hah!
It's a custom hybrid , Burch but I forget the other wood , it's something exotic , the video of him getting the kit was on TH-cam and he goes into what wood it's made of , I think it's still up .
love that description lol
great video, The sound of Slayer-Divine Intervention it´s amazing. Paul rules !!!
Paul is awesome, I got into Slayer with Divine intervention. Great opportunity to listen to his drumming isolated.
Watching Paul play march into fire again, and doing it solo was just fn amazing man. The snare part in that song sounded so sick with that deeper snare. It gave it so much more feeling and depth. I love Paul's playing. He's not a soloist per se, but that does make him stand out more imo. He knows what a song needs!
I agree completely!!!!
He shreds that’s all there need to be known
I remember seeing Paul play with a broker arm when he was in forbidden,we also talked drums after the show.Super cool dude!
Paul was always a favourite, not an easy pair of shoes to fill, but he did it. Divine intervention intro drum fill, I mean, that’s some serious « announcing one’s arrival »
When a journalist mentioned to Araya that Bostaph had big shoes to fill, Tom answered by saying ‘they’re a tight fit’
This is so awesome. Bostaph is one of the best. The Divine Intention album was my intro Bostaph and I've been a fan since.
I met Paul after the Exodus show at jackrabbits in jville FL in 2005 I think. Right before their European tour. Great guy. We were playing there a couple weeks later. Still one of the most intense shows I've ever seen. Those guys were tight. Now they death day come is still one of my favorite songs
All the recordings in these videos are stunning.

Happy Birthday Paul Steven Bostaphborn March 4th 1964,Newark,USA,Great drummer for FORBIDDEN,SLAYER,EXODUS and TESTAMENT.
... and Kerry King Quintet! ... not sure why you know and doxing his birthday though
More documentary like this please! So great.
What an amazing idea for a video series. I just stumbled across this in my feed. Gonna watch all of them.
Now thy death day come!!!! Love Bostaph!!!!!
damn it. these are so good and I'm listening to it with my drum kit just sitting behind me and I can feel it scowling at me because I dont play it enough.
Love this series.
Always loved paul’s playing, kick ass job dudes!!!!
Have mercy those drums sound amazing.
Pure gold. This videos are sth. else. Forget about it!
A breath of fresh air, hearing actual acoustic drums without triggers and sound replacement.
This series is gold. Keep up the great work!!
We are so glad you like it 🙏
This series is just awesome. Thank you for doing this. 🙏
We are so glad you enjoy it!
One of all time favourite musicians and humans!
These are fantastic
I love this series! Don't ever stop making these videos, please!
More to come!
If I'm not mistaken, that bell brass Tama snare was also used by Lars on the Black Album, too. When Ross passes, that drum should be in the Smithsonian.
Lovely sounding snares Paul's a rippa love his style and gotta love the Creature love Skate or Drum for life.......
I love this series! Please keep it up!!!
We are so glad 😊 And will do!
This was absolutely sick!
I will forever wonder how much better Divine Intervention would have been with the Undisputed Attitude production
2nd that!
If it isn't Dave on the kit for Slayer, it's gotta be Paul. Love both drummers. They both brought something special to the table. God Hates Us All and Divine Intervention are BRUTAL albums! Can't forget about what he did in Exodus and Testament! 🤘🏻

Yeaaaaaaah I saw that too! It has the same color scheme as the FP-9. I hope Yamaha will put a sturdy baseplate on those, I might get one.
Big fan of Paul Bostaph and Dave Lombardo, both amazing drummers. Divine Intervention is a great album. Good video.
The insane response on that snare literal perfection
Great series ! Thank you !
Man the Tama snare love it its real snappy🤘🏾
Awesomeness thanks love the videos. The content is magical. Thanks so much 😊
We are so glad you enjoy it!

This sounds absolutely insane
The level of noise is insane too 3:41
Those cymbals sound so musical
Um dos maiores Bateristas que já ouvi ! Paul Bostaph é um gigante, tem uma técnica diferenciada, uma habilidade fantástica e uma velocidade fora d comum !
To this day, I use the Killing Fields intro for the alarm clock on my phone. Nothing like waking up to some fucking Slayer
I love this TH-cam series keep it going! 3:28 🥁 hopefully I can make the cut one day. 🙏🏽
Paul is a great! Drummer. 1 of many of my favorites. 🤘🏼
Amazing.
I always mention Paul Bostaph when best drummers come up
Lombardo
I love the drum sound on the album Divine Intervention 🔥
Mr Paul Bostaph ladies and gentleman !
His style and sound is amazing! Albums like "Divine Intervention", "God Hates Us All" or "Shovel Headed K*ll Machine" has some of the most brilliant drumlines in Thrash
I miss Slayer🥺 My favourite band since 1986

Now Thy Death Day Come @ 7:21. That song is badass. Shovel Headed Kill Machine is a sick album.
awesome episode again! still waiting on that John Otto episode :)
Perhaps one day!
Gotta love these « behind the scenes » type of vids.
Waw..amajiiing 🔥
This is great content.
I love Paul ❤

Diabolus is Musica is my favourite Slayer album.
Nu metal
Was going to say that the Gretsch Maple was my favourite from these, then the 6.15 Brass one appears and I'm like, 'Yesssss!'
Nice!
Thanks
Cheer :)
Creature skateboard t-shirt, Tama bell brass piccolo snare, we're in business :)
Finally some love for the piccolo snare. Many wood pics are lower than u think too. Try a artstar maple ....32 yrs and still playin...
Great content man love from Taiwan 🇹🇼
the whole kit sounds so balanced
Awsome intro
I remember the first time I heard it and thought yeh new drummer will be ok
Paul bostaph is so amazing❤
Favorite Slayer song with Paul is God Send Death, he drives the songs intensity like Dave. It's not about technical difficulty, it is how it enhances the music!
Wow, I think that picollo bell brass with the tama brass hoops must be super rare. I might be mistaken, but there is significantly less of those around than the 6.5
Респект я рос и изучал этот альбом и этого барабанщика🎉❤
Divine Intervention is my favourite Slayer album.
Man played played for testament as well, kinda worth mentioning
What’s the series of the Gretsch snare 14x8??
It sounds so huge..
You getting that @ 9:15?
Really digging that black nickel drum rack.
Paul’s drumming in Testament is also excellent. Formation of Damnation has some amazing drum tracks.
👍 Have to agree 100% . Gene was a monster , but I honestly prefer Pauls Testament drumming !!!!
He's work with exodus is really sick too
THE TERMINATOR : i heard a while back that it was on loan to nirvana during nevermind recording for 1000 bucks a day, from this drum doctor guy (now here he is !).Would like to know too if it was really called the terminator since i never heard it again anywhere. But that snare is very rare.
It definitely wasn't $1000 a day back then. It's nickname is the Terminator.
I know this episode was about the snare drum, but I wish they talked about the cymbals . It look like he had a paiste rude cymbal on his left, but it also looked like he had a Stewart Copeland ride cymbal..?

Legend
I saw this guys with Slayer in 2018 and he played none stop and being nearly 60... my father with 60, sits his butt down none stop on the couch, LOL.
LOVE this series. Last Days Of Humanity next? :D
Tama changed the game in 1980. The BB was an instant legend.
Um dos melhores do mundo paul bostaph
straight to comments for the Lars Ulrich snare jokes, do not disappoint
Newark California like wuuuuuut
00:07 i'm turning around and around on that intro , duuuuude yeah
