Did anyone else notice what Mikalaya is actually doing with those unboxing the Cartier and the Birkin. Listen carefully to what she is actually saying in the Birkin video. Remember this is Mikalaya we’re talking about and one thing we all know is sis is the queen of manipulating. Notice how she praise the brand and says things like “I’ve never received such an incredible gift” “I’ll never forget this beautiful gift that BRAND NAME gave me. Y’all she manipulating the brands! Like another one of her brands she reviews will see her Birkin video and think we need to do better. Watch I bet you I’m right about this. She is work the beauty brand system in her favor by making money, receiving free PR gifts along with luxury thank you gifts. I see what’s she’s doing
I'm done with TikTok. Sick of watching these fake, nobody's telling me what I should buy and then having all of their gift and good fortune being rubbed in my face. I cannot get groceries most weeks because I cannot afford it. Have no use for any of them. I do enjoy all of these informative videos! Thank you for the upload!!
I believe the TIRTIR stories. I’m a black woman and was stationed/lived in Seoul for a few years, years ago. K-beauty has come a long way. Their foundations were always only light. Asians are as obsessed with whiteness as everybody else. When my friends and I went to get facials etc. we would always be heavily discounted or given free merch and products to try because they wanted to know how their products (face creams, makeup, tools, etc.) held up on melanated skin (long before influencers,) but these were spa/ salon high end products already on shelves. They just never get a chance to use their products on black and brown skin. Whoo, Dr Franz, Laniege, Crème Shop, Banila, Sulwhasoo… I grew to love K-beauty (A-Beauty) long before it was trendy in the States.
It makes me so mad that people who don’t deserve any of these opportunities are getting them without any effort and by just lying to the faces of people who support them, while the people who genuinely work their hardest are getting nowhere near the recognition. I can think of so many deserving people but it’s just so annoyingly unfair.
I agree. I found myself smiling, watching Darcy opening up her bag and seeing her reaction. Mikayla ALWAYS makes me roll my eyes. I only see her content on YT clip channels. I would never follow her or go search her content.
The idea that favorable reviews of makeup products mean a select few influencers get costly designer goods in exchange, which most of their followers don't have access to, is so bizarre. I am not a fan of the brand trips. I can even understand free PR because creators can review, test/try, or use it for giveaways, etc. But what does a Birkin do? lol That money should be put back into product development or perks for long-time customers.
as some who works in retail, this is called a "sweetheart" deal. they get what they want(good reviews, exposure to millions of people), and the sweetheart gets something nice. it's a weird phenomenon where sometimes people don't even see the trend. they only see nice things.
You know, I’m a corporate girly, always had worked inside big companies. And all of them prohibited with very hard rules about gifts to partners/clients that could be used to “buy” the person or change someone’s opinion about the company. In the corporate world it’s a conflict of interests…. I don’t know how it could work with beauty and brands, but it made me think.
There are soooo many other way to show how thankful you are as a brand to a content creator that popularizes a product/the brand as a whole. Honestly, a sweet thank you note from the heart is enough. Maybe the brand sponsoring a giveaway to the creator’s audience of said product and some other goodies would be another fantastic alternative. You know what would be nice? Brands forking over $4k-$30k to those who are in debt because they currently are/have continued their education. That would mean the world to so many people!!!
Yes & no. It’s still sponsored, obviously, but it’s more insidious because the influencer can still claim to be “honestly reviewing this item, unpaid” when the reality is that they will lie their asses off no matter what because that’s what brings in the lavish gifts. So, no different than not disclosing sponsored posts, but still more insidious.
@@brittneybabeee4031im not familiar with US law, but do you know if it is still illegal to not disclose their relationship with the brand even if they don't get paid directly for that review?
seconding the other comment, i think it all comes down to the honesty, and "insidious" is the perfect word to describe it- legally, paid partnerships have to be disclosed, therefore the audience (should) know about the incentive behind the review, but gifts are a bit of a grey area. a reward for good reviews while claiming they haven't been paid, making it appear more "legit" for being unsponsored even though they have reason to be positive and keep receiving things. way more manipulative imo than a disclosed partnership
the excess is revolting, but even worse is the brands are just using these influencers like tools, and they don’t even know it… or seem oblivious, thinking that buying a 10K bag is anything close to what the cosmetic company makes… just all driven by greed. Gross. 🤮
Whenever Mikayla’s videos pop up all I hear is “look at how this company is keeping me in their pocket so I can milk my fans of their money on products I lie about so I can get these free perks”
I buy products from companies, where is my brand trip or designer luxury bag?? I've always hated seeing influencers and even celebrities being gifted and given things they don't even need when the normal everyday person cannot afford.
I'm disappointed in Rael. Love their sanitary products and pimple patches but this latest brand trip was just excessive, to the point of gross. Makes me not want to give them my money.
I really wouldn't know. But the one girl who supposedly convinced a brand to expand their skin tone range for their foundations...how do we know she wasn't collaborating with the company behind the scenes all along so people would get hyped up once more shades finally released? I don't think this is what happened tbh but it makes me wonder
Maybe I’m just cynical but it also seems like Mikayla is setting her self up to get more gifts from brands just by the way she said how happy she was. She said it was the BEST thing a brand has done for her and she’ll remember it for the REST of her LIFE-she’s so dramatic but also this might incentivize other brands to give her more so that she can say the same about them and post a ton of videos for them.
What is also funny to me is that the gifts they receive are meant to be shown, they just could keep them and say nothing but no, everything is for everyone to see
They all act the exact same as they open FREE stuff that is sooo amazing. I was done when Mikayla when she was moaning over a Hermes shopping bag. (I didn't stay long enough to listen to what it was.).
I generally don't trust influencer reviews, I mainly watch for tips & hacks. I think that the whole point of being an influencer is to shmooze with brands and reap benefits. If someone wanted to be a hardcore reviewer with integrity they should really refuse any PR gifts altogether.
Tbh these brands are smarter than ever. This is the perfect strategy, as Manny and Laura said, to create an air of second-guessing for an influencer. You can’t deny the genius, but you also can’t deny the manipulation.
man i get what they meant when they thought their fans might not find that fun to watch. i'd love to open a chanel bag for putting on makeup. the fact that the prices of these outrageous gifts bothers people for any reason other than the fact that they received it in the first place is so disturbing.
Buying influencers have been around since the dawn of time they’re usually called politicians businessman, but they come in all shapes sizes, genders and occupations
I’ve never once watched a Mikayla video but she seems so disingenuous and greedy from an outsider perspective. Not to mention I’m on the side that can’t stand her voice. But hey live your life girl.

Next brand brand will send her a check to pay off her mortgage plus a Ferrari and a yacht!
She’s so unlikable honestly.. It shocks me how she stays so popular
and the way she speaks.. nails on a chalkboard honestly..
It makes me so mad that people who don’t deserve any of these opportunities are getting them without any effort and by just lying to the faces of people who support them, while the people who genuinely work their hardest are getting nowhere near the recognition. I can think of so many deserving people but it’s just so annoyingly unfair.
TIR TIR gifting Darcy is valid. She was able to influence the company to extend their shade range. Mikayla...? Dont get me started...
I agree. I found myself smiling, watching Darcy opening up her bag and seeing her reaction. Mikayla ALWAYS makes me roll my eyes. I only see her content on YT clip channels. I would never follow her or go search her content.
@@jillbunny90 same here i would swipe fast whenever i see her face :-)
The idea that favorable reviews of makeup products mean a select few influencers get costly designer goods in exchange, which most of their followers don't have access to, is so bizarre. I am not a fan of the brand trips. I can even understand free PR because creators can review, test/try, or use it for giveaways, etc. But what does a Birkin do? lol That money should be put back into product development or perks for long-time customers.
Seriously? Glamzilla talking about having integrity? Somebody's jealous not receiving a Birkin
This was my first thought too😂 ain't no way she suddenly grew a moral compass so quickly😂😂😂
It's bribery at this point. If they're so confident in their products they shouldn't have to buy reviews.
Makayla loves any brand that writes her a check or sends her to Korea. Idk how anyone can watch her videos period.
as some who works in retail, this is called a "sweetheart" deal. they get what they want(good reviews, exposure to millions of people), and the sweetheart gets something nice.
it's a weird phenomenon where sometimes people don't even see the trend. they only see nice things.
Giving influencers THIS much attention probably isn't healthy
People need to recognize that tirtir is a korean brand. It's super super common in Korean culture to give gifts to business partners like that.
I miss betheny mota era of youtube 💔
michelle pham asmr vibes
There are soooo many other way to show how thankful you are as a brand to a content creator that popularizes a product/the brand as a whole. Honestly, a sweet thank you note from the heart is enough. Maybe the brand sponsoring a giveaway to the creator’s audience of said product and some other goodies would be another fantastic alternative. You know what would be nice? Brands forking over $4k-$30k to those who are in debt because they currently are/have continued their education. That would mean the world to so many people!!!
Is this really that different from paid partnerships?
Gross. 🤮
The Gilmore Girls scene 🥹💗
Brands arent "being grateful" they are just doing their job and doing great marketing and social connections.
Pharmecutical companies used to give luxury goods, trips, cars to doctors and now that's illegal for a reason 😂
So happy I don’t have tik tok and I don’t worry about all this materialistic lifestyle. In the end none of these things make us truly happy.
So true
ever since i’ve deleted tiktok and stopped caring about ridiculously rich people i’ve never felt better.
I'm disappointed in Rael. Love their sanitary products and pimple patches but this latest brand trip was just excessive, to the point of gross. Makes me not want to give them my money.
Glamzilla is so full of IT!!! She's also one of the cringiest creators I've ever seen 💀
I don’t get how Mikayla is so popular. She edits the shit outta her photos. She has a new face every photo.
Working with Mikayla is a sure fire way to make sure I won’t buy a product
Hopefully Mikayla is saving a lot of this money cause her career cannot last long with how much she is lying
The flexing is truly unrelatable & gross to boot
LOL I CANT WITH MIKAYLA’S FACE IN THE COVER OF THE VIDEO 😭😭😭😭 (the one with her holding up the tir tir foundation)
Yes darcei, that's why i love to watch her reviews
MissDarcei is such a real one, she's the only beauty influencer I really trust
I never rely on a influencers review that’s fake advertisement
What is also funny to me is that the gifts they receive are meant to be shown, they just could keep them and say nothing but no, everything is for everyone to see
If mikayla loves it, I don't buy it 😂
Mikayla so excited about a bag she could literally buy herself 😂😂😂😂
They all act the exact same as they open FREE stuff that is sooo amazing.
I was done when Mikayla when she was moaning over a Hermes shopping bag. (I didn't stay long enough to listen to what it was.).
That Birkin bag Mikayla was sent is so ugly lol. I'd pawn it if I got that haha.
@TeaSpill you forgot Anastasia Beverly Hills sending Mikayla a Bottega Venetta bag a few months ago. She did a video on that too.
Wait really? Do you have a link??
@@TeaSpill i’ll find it hang on
@@TeaSpill I keep posting it and it keeps getting deleted but you can google search mikayla nogueira bottega venetta to find it
It makes me so happy seeing darcei bring more shades to a Korean beauty line, that’s huge! She should be so proud ❤
It’s TH-cam makeup 2016-18 all over again 🤣
I'm a pro mua and tbh i called this 10 years ago, i said they will be full payed for eventlly .
Those Basma blushes packaging reminds me of those Nokia phones that were all the rage when I was in like middle school lol
It’s called “payola”, and it’s gone on since the fifties when record labels would hopefully influence their audiences to buy the product.
Gone on way longer than that
I generally don't trust influencer reviews, I mainly watch for tips & hacks. I think that the whole point of being an influencer is to shmooze with brands and reap benefits. If someone wanted to be a hardcore reviewer with integrity they should really refuse any PR gifts altogether.
THE ONLY PERSON I TRUST WITH REVIEWS WAS JEFFREY STAR LOL he kept it real always regardless of how problematic he is
Sad, but true 😂
Tbh these brands are smarter than ever. This is the perfect strategy, as Manny and Laura said, to create an air of second-guessing for an influencer. You can’t deny the genius, but you also can’t deny the manipulation.
Is it only me i cant STAND hearing all of Glamzillas BREATHESSSSS
man i get what they meant when they thought their fans might not find that fun to watch. i'd love to open a chanel bag for putting on makeup. the fact that the prices of these outrageous gifts bothers people for any reason other than the fact that they received it in the first place is so disturbing.
Buying influencers have been around since the dawn of time they’re usually called politicians businessman, but they come in all shapes sizes, genders and occupations
Integrity is a forgotten word with this line of work!
That‘s not a Birkin, that is a Kelly. It is smaller.
There is people who are homeless & need food,Yet these companies just toss money around like this for buying sellout souls 🤔
It's disgusting!!
I’ve never once watched a Mikayla video but she seems so disingenuous and greedy from an outsider perspective. Not to mention I’m on the side that can’t stand her voice. But hey live your life girl.
omg...the gilmore girls reference. tysm. as a lifelong fan of the show, thats exactly where my brain went
