I experienced reactive abuse in a relationship I ended about a month ago. I could no longer control my emotions and reactions to his manipulation and deflection, therefore would start yelling at him while trying to explained, that I did not do anything wrong. Thereafter I would feel shamed and disappointment in myself. The interaction took me completely out of character and was very draining. I am free now and in therapy trying to heal. I fall asleep listening to your videos. I can't wait to hear this. I Thank God for you Pastor RC Blakes!

They do their homework on you for the purpose of identifying your triggers. Seems so innocent in the beginning though. Most of us use that time to identify commonalities and looked forward to learning new things. But not my ex narc…oh no!! He did the homework on me for the purpose of weaponry. He was constantly twisting my words around where everything that came out of his mouth was left field. At one point I had questions about his cognition. It was the most bizarre experience I’ve ever had in my 55 years. So grateful for God’s deliverance from the madness. 🙌🏾

I had a boyfriend that would drop little evil nuggets, whenever. Those evil nuggets were the catalyst of breaking up for good. It took some time to put it altogether in my mind. Now any new relationships that drop just one, I’m out of there.

The triggering, the insults and degrading was so impactful on my soul. The most hurtful experience. But in a positive note it forced me to grow and heal old wounds. It pushed me so far to my limits and opened my eyes. It made me realise what to never accept again and how to defend and protect myself. How to speak up and use my voice, and how to walk away.

It’s hard because after growing up with trauma, you want to “help” people which in turn heals your trauma…it’s just always the wrong people. The same person in different bodies over and over til lessons are learned.

I just recently realized that for me to fulfill that need to help others, I need to help strangers where I'm safely at a distance to not get tangled up in any drama. No one knowing about my job or my family life. I will be looking into volunteering at food banks, etc.

I just experienced this 2 weeks ago and had to get law enforcement involved. He was so cunning I didn’t see any signs. Thank God, I was able to cut it completely off before the relationship got more serious. It has been painful experience even for me in the mental health profession. But God!! I am about to become a teacher in my late 30s and the narcissist couldn't affect my future success story....so to get a reaction, she married a man (10 months after having a baby by another guy) in another state and moved my daughter and her other 3 siblings. Knowing that it would mess up my daughter's relationship. But God will work it out!!

Good evening Pastor Blakes, I have set my reminder to watch the video. Triggers are an issue which no one talks about. When I disagreed with my ex boyfriend, he would would bring up the name of someone who sexually assaulted me in order to win an argument and to break me. I felt this was hitting below the belt and how course someone who loves me bring up my trauma just because I didn't agree with his opinion.
That is so low down.
Sometimes we trust blinding, thinking this person we are with it will understand what we have been going through . With this experience next time you are in a relationship don’t tell a man at all even if you have to bite your tongue about your pass.
Because a high value man will never take your secrets as a weapon to put you down .

The moment I admitted to my one-time "indiscretion" to the narc husband something that happened many years ago) thinking that he wanted to reconcile, the minute he left my place, he went and told all of his family and friends about it. He even told our children. And all the while even if we are still married, he was cheating on me every single day and is even openly living with one of his new supply. The sad part is that everyone chose to forget that he discarded me and abandoned our family because of his ongoing affairs.
I agree with you about this subject, it's like when you're trying to move forward, they'll find something to pull you back, or even pull you down. We have to be strong enough to stand firm on what you believe In. They'll make you feel that you're always the one in the wrong, when it's been them all the long. So now I have a major trust issues, trying to figure out who is sincere and not playing the role to trap me.

I should have saw the red flag the day he got mad and told me about myself, my relationship with my family, my family, and their weaknesses. He took it and has ran with it for so long. I have always stayed quiet and said nothing. I thought that was being weak, not standing up for myself.
Honestly i felt the same way when he started blaming for thing and talking about my family and also calling me weak and belittling me but i stayed quiet for awhile until i started speaking up for myself and giving him a taste of his own medicine he doesnt like at all and i think you should start standing up for urself and speak your mind

Or when they can't be you and hate you for how you move in your self-esteem. Also when they ned to hide their wrongs so they project this hate on you. They study you to every second of reaction. Sick people make others sick to death, heal and run away from people like this, no matter if family or not. Just far away, love doesn't rule in their mind/ life!
That's why we have to keep our business to our self and not react emotionally so people can't figure out our triggers and weak points.

I always pay attention to what people say .
I had a great child hood and am mentally sound. I have no triggers. My narcissistic ex has things that triggers him. So he uses projection to put his trash off on me. Not having it.
The only way I can describe my encounter was that it was like something dark and demonic trying to take me out.
Can't wait to hear this sermon. I am dealing with a narcissist that I don't even know. He stalks me and leaves messages on my voicemail telling me he loves me and can't live without me. I made another police report. He's sick and so is his family that stalks me. The police doesn't do anything about it. I got my door kicked in, alarm bi_passed, and he gas lights and I react. He saw me in passing and thinks he's in love with me.

I needed this. The only way to describe this is on time! That prayer was for me. I’m laying down and before I know it, there may a tear coming down. All I can say is Thank you Jesus! I needed this. It just confirmed what I was feeling and seeing all these years. Now I know how to handle it so much better. Thank you Lord!
Dealing with this now I kept asking myself how come he just wants to see me upset like if you know something is stressful and a lot to deal with y not help y watch me get upset overworked and overwhelmed and wait on me to say something.
This was a powerful; on time message that set me free. I now know how to be watchful over my mental health and how to guard my heart.

Someone sent this to me as at 56yo I'm finally removing my narcissistic father from my life. He's 83 (but still very much the manipulative narcissist, not a feeble old man). Your video was enlightening and 100% on point. Thank you for that but I find many of these discussions revolve more around intimate (sexual) relationships than a parent/family. Would like to see that addressed too since as a Christian, I don't want to "leave" my father, but want to find balance and appropriate separation.
So is it right/ok/whatever as a Christian to walk away from an aging parent despite their narcissism?
Try setting boundaries with him. Be there for him at a distance or as needed if his health is failing. Talk to him briefly and at a minimum. Don’t be a doormat

I've found whenever I get this order wrong; I suffer.
Honoring your Father may not mean being his primary caregiver. My hope is you find peace with him since he is aging. Perhaps not caring for him will lesson resentment for him and the relationship can be repaired.

A day before our couples trip to Arizona for Memorial Day weekend. My ex flaked out at the last minute because I didn’t provide him proof that I was with my girlfriend the night before. I ended up going on the couples trip alone. While he booked a trip with his boys, posted videos of him on social media with other women, strippers. Announcing that he love his life without any regard of my feelings. I’m in so much pain right now. I really believe that he was my friend at the end . Despite not having a good romantic relationship. I feel so ashamed that I got involved with another narcissist. I just didn’t see this one coming. 😪

I have several individuals in my life who always said “I didn’t mean it that way.” or “You misunderstood me”. This one is my favorite: “That’s not really happened!”
I’m thankful that I have did the work to self love for myself to stay out of the way of harms way. I’m narcissistic free since 2014. I don’t have the energy for that drama in my life. That includes family members.
It's hard when it's your parent whom you loved when you were young. I have to keep my distance unfortunately which causes me not to have a relationship with the rest of the family. Has become too stressful on holiday/celebration get togethers. I just chose today for Thanksgiving to keep my distance. It's hard but I'm trusting God. Maybe this is why I'm still not married. Extremely sensitive to manipulative people and choose not to have a relationship with them. Excellent teaching!

they pretend that they are so sincere and listening attentively but really they are listening to you to build their arsenal against you. this happened to me and I kept going back until one day it was very clear to me that this person was triggering me and had sent me into a trauma response on purpose. Also sometimes they will trigger you, invalidate you, talk over you and/ or criticise you in the presence of others so that they can both send you into reactivity, whether it's anger or an emotional breakdown and then they can both feed off your emotional reaction.

I have a lot of childhood trauma especially from my mother who is a narcissist. One of my biggest triggers that I told the man I’m with is how my my mother would never make me feel seen, heard, and validate my emotions. He witnessed it himself when I finally told my mother I was done because she wasn’t understanding my pain and how she was making me feel by her actions and she was gaslighting me like no other, blame shifting, and guilt tripping me. I went out of character completely and had no control of myself and she was smiling at me the whole time while I was losing my mind. Theirs been lots of fights with the man I’m with where I’m driving myself crazy begging him to understand my emotions. Like full on breaking down crying and even screaming at him because I just want to be seen and understood for once. He would look at me the same way my mother does. Is that him using my trigger against me or he’s just same as my mother and is not able to have empathy for someone?

he knew how to trigger my emotions, he couldnt control me or think for me so he worked on my emotions...which lead to me doing the discard !!
