Did braces correct it? I have the exact problem. I started mewing like 6 months ago but my molars ain’t touching in resting position. Just my incisors and maybe canines. when I start chewing, my chin comes back
This video explains my situation exactly. I had braces for 2 years with a Herbst appliance. The orthodontist put in a permanent retainer without even telling me. I felt so betrayed that I ripped it out with pliers. I still don't understand why they couldn't just give me a removable retainer for my lower teeth. My teeth were fine for about 10 years after that until I started grinding them in my sleep. That pushed my lower teeth forward, so I had to move my jaw back to chew, which pushed my lower teeth forward more- it is a vicious cycle. I was considering getting invisalign, but you have changed my mind. The orthodontist ruined my teeth. I still have glue left behind from the braces that prevents my gums from un-receding. Part of my enamel on my front tooth was ripped off while they removed the braces. And the fluoride toothpaste the orthodontist gave me created irreversible divots and white spots on several of my teeth. I have been brushing my teeth with baking soda for the past 10 years and haven't had any cavities. My dentist says my teeth look better than they did years ago, but I suspect that is because I floss daily.
THANK YOU! I was noticing that my jaw slid back to clench my jaw and I had no clue why. This explains everything so clearly. None of my dentists ever pointed out my overbite, but I have a really noticeable one.

Question when you mewed with your overbite did your front teeth touch or your molars? not sure which is better, curious which position you used that helped correct overbite
@@seanmchgaming2941 From what I've gathered when you have an overbite you should focus more on your molars touching rather than your front teeth. If you have your front teeth touching it will look unnatural and elongate your face, because you are jutting your jaw outward and down. Where as if your molars are touching (and tongue on the roof of your mouth) it will be the natural resting position. Overtime you should notice more prominent facial features.

YES YES YES!👍👍👍👍👍👍 I'm sure that having Cronic ASTHMA ADDS to underdevelopment of the face and the lower jaw. Just found this and I am inhaling theory and knowledge about mewing. A total deep dive. THANK YOU for SHARING this with us. And it resonates on every level. I actually stopped chewing gum because I was so aware of my overbite and the way I looked. I've also been very aware of the way I look while eating food, so this has kept me from going to parties where we eat food. (I know, it's hillarious) I was born 8weeks early, had asthma my entire life, had severe overbite, 12mm and got braces at age 12. Two teeth were pulled out. Unfortunately my orthodontist committed suicide and I never got any follow up, and the overbite has slowly come back. Specially after an accident where I was bedridden for 1 year, and had to learn how to walk again. For me physical fitness go hand in hand with the way my face changes. I also understand that I became overbite because of my challenge breathing my first years of life. I got a new life when I got good functioning medication at age 10. None told me or parents that it would create havock on my teeth, and I paid with extreme amounts of cavities and traumatic dental treatment in my pre teens and teens. However I've always been aware of good posture, understood early the need of excersise as medication for asthma. This is extremely intersting. I wonder how much it will effect my facial structure at middle age... what if... I have contemplated surgery, but in general I'm pro natural methods as far as possible.🤔 Exciting times ahead, exiting times indeed 🤩🤩
Looking from a perspective of a cosmetologist/esthetician/gym rat/face yoga/body contour’;this changes my life for the better, even telling all my clients, family & friends, just spreading the word so we can all be healthy & beautiful lol. it’s crazy cause mewing is my secret recipe to life but it’s not a secret, it’s a way of life like from breathing, swallowing, eating, etc. even being in bed I feel like I’m super pro cause mewing makes it so much easier & not tiring at all. Even when I wash dishes & mew, it doesn’t feel like a chore anymore😂. I just love mewing & wish I knew about it before I was in my 20’s. I would’ve had my dream chin I thought I would need from surgery. Even my lips are fuller. Mewing is basically keeping your head tilt back, chin tucked into chest with your lips sealed balancing everything, & your teeth aligned & together but not touching, with a strong bite, swallow all the moisture out your teeth, gums & cheek always, swallow the back of your tongue, chest up, pinky’s up always, shoulders back, make sure you’re still biting down hard but don’t force it, toes, elbows, collarbones & knees pointed, keep swallowing, that’s the mewing recipe.
I'm here for knowledge and that "taser" example made me laugh out loud. Good work and thanks for all this info. I have a deep bite(and crooked teeth) and I'm mewing and keeping my back teeth slightly touching. Hope I see some positive changes.
So Mike, I can see why tongue on roof of mouth will fix the maxilla position and avoid the tongue from keeping the back teeth apart. But should people with deep bite really keep their teeth in contact then?
It's obviously a case-by-case thing, but to answer your question: the first appliance I had to wear fixed my jaw alignment, the second one ( which I'm wearing now ) is working to push my upper incisors forwards just like Dr Mew described in this video.
While mewing, i can either keep my front teeth in contact or my back molars but 1 a a time. my question is which one should i keep together? and why so as to fix the overbite and all come in contact?
hey I have an over bite and packed teeth, you were saying that we should focus on our tongue posture and keep our molars together but if I put my molars together, my jaw will set back into th over bite position, should I align my front teeth- it lengthens my face and my molars don't touch but I still have the tongue posture- or align my molars - i'm still in my overbite position and correct tongue posture-. Thank you advance if you respond
hey i have the same problem as you, i have an overbite.. if im in my overbite position my molars touch, and my lower front teeth covered about 1/4 of it. but if i try to make my lower jaw wont match with the upper front teeth, and my molars wont touch too..just feel slight bit of 1 molars on my right mouth.. i have been doing mewing for overbite position for 13 days now. And im going to change the overbite position to front teeth touch, even tho my front teeth cant touch... But if i stay with front teeth touch, my face became more longer, and more good, and not droopy like i did when im in overbite position. How is your overbite condition now??
I have 35 % overbite, but when I try to do the proper tongue resting at the top, I get tension in my already tight jaw and my mouth won't stop watering.
I don't know for sure, but maybe lightly stretch and rub the muscles. Plus, just work towards the position a little at a time without torturing yourself. Like if you just start stretching, over time you will be able to stretch farther, but in the beginning you just do some mild stretching without hurting yourself. Does that make sense?
i have a deep bite and i bite my left cheek for free space. i may have used the tongue thingy when i was younger. i have a longish face but the lower third is more or less short. i'm 18. can i be helped by orthotropics?
Can Orthotropics fix this problem in people over 30? I started mewing and chewing hard gum about a month ago and I've noticed my lower jaw is trying to be positioned more forward, but there's not room at all due to my retroclined upper incisors. My lower jaw feels totally trapped behind those upper incisors. Dr. Mew is absolutely right. My jaws rest with some freeway space at the back.
Dang, I wish someone could translate/present solutions in regular English. I'm no DDS... Do you have overbite and want strong jaw? For results, do this: 1. 2. And so on....😩
I got two teeth removed to fix my overbite. Stopped wearing retainer. (I have a permanent retainer in as a ‘back-up’). I can’t hold my back teeth together too well /: feels like it just pushed everything together, leaving no room for my tongue
I'm in my 20's.from the UK. I have a deep bitE/overbite, and a unilateral crossbite. Based on what you said at the beginning of the vid, I think I have a class 2 division '2' (retroclined incisors). I I feel as though I need my jaws moved forward, as I feel as though the underlying tissue isn't getting enough 'support' resulting in a heavy looking face. Maybe early jowling? Mouth looks to be frowning at rest. I'm not sure if procling my teeth would help with my facual aesthetics? (I'm wondering about damon braces for this). Ideally, I think i'd love double jaw surgery, but I don't think my case is bad enough to warrant it on the NHS
Thank you so much Doc. I have a deep bite plus two of teeth have come forward like unsymmetrical fangs. Hi I need some advice! I also suffer from sleep apnea this had a msssive effect on my grades in school and is now effecting me in college life. I am soon to be having braces put on, they have removed 4 teeth, they are going to pull my front teeth back, after doing some research of my own I realized this would only further restricting my air ways and further ruining my facial aestetics, I am reserving free treatment via the NHS amd I have been on the waiting list for 3-4 years, what cam be done? What can be said to my orthodondist? Im really confused and scared
+Troublesome A all I can say is keep researching, inform yourself. the more you understand the easier it will be. I have stared receiving orthodontic treatment that I am paying for but its correct treatment for my situation
Is there something going on with your nose that is causing you to breathe through your mouth? If there is swelling in your nose, like from allergies, that can cause problems with not being able to breathe well through your mouth and also some sleep apnea. I sometimes have problems with breathing through my nose because of congestion. It seems like a nasal saline spray helps. But you can ask a doctor about your nose. I wonder if those breathing strips would help you too, to wear at night. I think sleeping with your head at a higher angle helps with sleep apnea too. I make a triangle of one pillow, then 2, then 3- with my head on the 3 pillows, my chest on the 2 pillows, and below that on the one pillow to help me sleep hight which helps a lot. Some people use a wedge pillow or put big wooden blocks under the legs of the bed at the top to raise the top higher. A 30 degree angle helps with breathing. A 45 degree angle helps even more with breathing. Both angles help things drain out of your head at night better. I like the mewing techniques he's talking about. Just trying it, I feel my ears unclogging and more room for breathing. Maybe try this technique yourself. There's lots of videos on how to do it. Definitely talk to a doctor to see if there's anything you can do to help you breathe better too. YOu may need allergy medicine daily. I also do other stuff with pillows to try to get a 45 degree angle sometimes. Hope some of this helps!

Please doctor do more videos on deep bite and give instances , examples with images and solution. Thanks
THANK YOU! I was noticing that my jaw slid back to clench my jaw and I had no clue why. This explains everything so clearly. None of my dentists ever pointed out my overbite, but I have a really noticeable one.

cyrusrecycling if, and when I have a child, I’m going to tell him to get in the habit of chewing hard foods and resting his tongue on the top of his hard palate to make sure he doesn’t get crooked teeth and end up with braces that’ll cost a few grand.

orthotropics has seriously improved my deepbite. it hasnt done much to reveal more of my bottom teeth, but it has seriously lifted my midface and therefore balanced my face out alot. i used to rest with my molars apart but now i no longer do. my face looks so much better at rest. thank you dr mew for this video!

Dr. Mew I must say this is the most controversial "bite" of all. :D Unfortunately, I am a typical (cannot be found a better specimen though) class II division two, and every word is fantastically true. However, the only chance to correct my jaw and perhaps teeth is the vast amount of time, hard work and patience. At the end of the video, there is great comfort for the heart (indeed it helps!) in your statement. I only wish I had found this in 2014 when I was was only 29. :) "Better later than never", as they say. Take care, and God Bless You and your Father!

CognitiveFuckUp an overbite can't keep all their teeth together...
@@xuchilpaba You are right. Best to keep the front teeth together first, if your molars won't be touching. From what I've seen from the progress from different folks, the molars should eventually close in with time. Will take longer though.
CognitiveFuckUp but doesn't that make ones face longer in the the process, if I'm not mistaken the other doctor(the white haired gentleman) said something like that on another video.
@@xuchilpaba Can you please refer me to the video? From my own personal experience, I had an overbite initially, my molars did not touch (still does not), and I have crowded lower front teeth. Over the course of a few months however, the crowd has reduced, and the molars are closer.
I have been relentlessly mewing (dedicated days to mewing 24/7, pressing as hard as I can) , and the back of my tongue perfectly fits the palate now, which brings the jaw forward automatically, essentially aligning the teeth together. The overbite has gone, allergies reduced, sleep is better and my face looks noticeably better.

In the end of the video Dr Mike mew does say that mewing can correct your bite position overtime
Thank you that is what I understood also, I think he means that we should keep mewing and keep both our body and neck posture good in order to better our bite.
Will mewing get rid of my deep bite AND Straighten teeth?
YES YES YES!👍👍👍👍👍👍
I'm sure that having Cronic ASTHMA ADDS to underdevelopment of the face and the lower jaw.
(I know, it's hillarious)
I was born 8weeks early, had asthma my entire life, had severe overbite, 12mm and got braces at age 12.
I wonder how much it will effect my facial structure at middle age... what if...
I have contemplated surgery, but in general I'm pro natural methods as far as possible.🤔
Exciting times ahead, exiting times indeed 🤩🤩
Do u also feel wierd when u are clenching and your face looks too small
I have overbite and I don't keep my tongue in between molars. Ny resting position is just my teeth together in the overbite position he shows
Have you seen any results?
I'm here for knowledge and that "taser" example made me laugh out loud. Good work and thanks for all this info. I have a deep bite(and crooked teeth) and I'm mewing and keeping my back teeth slightly touching. Hope I see some positive changes.

Bro can you please tell me what solution he told I did not get the point
So Mike, I can see why tongue on roof of mouth will fix the maxilla position and avoid the tongue from keeping the back teeth apart. But should people with deep bite really keep their teeth in contact then?
I think you need a dentist to fix the teeth first. Go for appliances instead of braces like I did
It's obviously a case-by-case thing, but to answer your question: the first appliance I had to wear fixed my jaw alignment, the second one ( which I'm wearing now ) is working to push my upper incisors forwards just like Dr Mew described in this video.

@@faqyhelsam9009 If you have an overbite/overjet like I do, mew with front teeth slightly touching (like. normal bite position), back teeth not touching. Overtime your tongue will push your maxilla forward and upward eliminating the overbite, and your back teeth will finally touch when your mandible moves forward and upward to match your maxilla.

@@faqyhelsam9009 do that if you don't have an overbite/overjet because your front teeth already have more or less a "normal bite". But if you have an overbite/overjet, the only way to have your front teeth lightly touching is to have your back teeth not touching (otherwise you will mew in a deepbite/overbite position). Also when you do that your lips can apply pressure more effectively to push your flared front teeth inwards while the tongue is pushing the maxilla up and forward.

Hi I need some advice! I am17 years old and Im am a mouth breather and have been for many years my face has definitely been effected by this, I have a long narrow face with a weak lower jaw and very crooked teeth because of this I suffer with depression and I am highly self conscious about myself I litrally feel like my looks have been taken from me as all of my family have strong jaw lines with very atractive forward growing faces.
I have stared receiving orthodontic treatment that I am paying for but its correct treatment for my situation
i put braces on then found this out like a week later...i wish i had known
Troublesome A hope u found a solution by now. Try orthotropics.
don't remove your teeth, it will cause your airway to narrow, your best bet is to have palatal expander to make you breathe better.
