Tip for anyone who uses harpoons to follow opponents. After you hit and stick, keep a man on it at all times, reeling the enemy ship in. You'll be down a man, but you will be able to stay near or on your opponent. My sloop got harpooned, but the brig didn't realize a fast turn or anchor drop will disconnect a unattended harpoon. From there it is easy for a sloop or solo brig to turn and sell at outposts
I'm so absolutely grateful about tip #1. I am absolutely tired of people running away from me on a sloop 95% of the time. Especially when they rep grade 4-5 reapers. I don't remember the last time I fought a ship rep-ing reapers.
You forgot to mention Quiet Boarding, basically once your mermaid has spawned go further and then wait on the surface of the water for the enemy ship to come by, and when you are about to grab the ladder you have to block with your sword and then climb up, it pretty much doesnt make any sound.
With the ladder shot trick you can do it on sloop brig and gally but when you get off press s then hold w when you get back on and obviously shoot in-between getting on and off

I PvP a LOT. But I have run here and there if I'm clearly outmanned and don't have enough supplies at the end of my time playing when I'm too tired to bother going into full fight mode again. I had 3 ships chasing us once when we had a fort key and a crap ton of loot from our other sinks that day. So we booked it and outmaneuvered them until they got tired of it. Kept boarding them while they followed. Did our best to resupply at islands along the way (this was pre buying supplies). So "running" once in a while is sometimes worth it I would say. One of the ships following us that day was a full D.A Gally with some very sweaty players. Wish they caught us at the beginning of our day
Joking and having fun seems to make my pvp a much higher level latly it's SOT PD funny when they play along and when people just ignore it you still get the pvp experience while laughing with friends.
Tbh, We were on a 3 man crew on a galleon(1 friend had to go for a little while), and we stopped at our island for our quest and we had been looking around for awhile on our way there, and when we got there checked around for ships, none in sight, unlikely to have been behind an island since they were small, we’re walking around and about 2-3 minutes after walking around(we are now on the other side of the island), and we hear cannon fire, a 1 man sloop hit our gally, 4 times, and it sunk in like 20 seconds, I absolutely demolished him becauseI was annoyed, I feel that it was a server merge or something because he was nowhere to be seen
When I notice somone wants to board me I always back off the ladder and make some noise with the wheel to act like I don't know. I can't remember a time it didn't work.
Another tip is that it's actually possible these days to switch guns quicker if your double gunning and not have to deal with the weapon pull out animations
Happy another tip is while you are on your ship if you are with a friend (vc as well) you can practice some pvp against each other see if you hit a shot know theye are dead ofcourse they won't die as they are your teamate but it helps a lot
Good tip is if you have any firebombs just ram the ship at start throwing it will really throw them off because a lot of fire just spawned from literally no where so can be useful or if you board try put something on a stove I tried it someone forgot mid fight and then their ship burst into flames
For tip #1 A competent 4 man will always beat a solo sloop without fail. Unless you manage to pull off something tricky with a board there's no way to beat them in a straight up ship fight and so you shouldn't bother trying to fight them especially when you can outspeed them sailing into the wind.
For me, the blunder and sword combination is the best. It's simply so good when boarded. You just one tap some guy waiting at the ladders, attack the rest with the sword, then, once you run away to heal, reload the blunderbuss and repeat. The disadvantage of the blunderbuss and sword combo in the water is only a minor setback since most of the time, the people you fight there are already sunk and it doesn't matter that much if you lose that fight. Even if you have to win the fight, you can just swim and dodge any sniper or pistol shots pretty easily and then get up close and one tap with the blunderbuss. Why does everyone slander the blunderbuss + sword combo :(

Another pro tip he missed; When your ship is demasted, try to keep an broad side on your enemy. you cant just spin in circles. Make sure you're having a angle on them for the moment you do have 5 seconds to shoot back. having the upper hand on cannon firing is very important
I only sail slope. Me and my buddy have been doing it over a year and now we don't run from any fights. Gally brig we don't care. Just one the last two weeks of only playing on Sat we sank 21 ships of all sizes. Sometimes we have a little fun and take all your supplies leaving with maybe one wood put a hole in your boat and drop your mast. Makes good practice how to save your ship and sail at the same time. I been there myself no wood bailing water to get my to the next island or barrels for wood. Weapons one long range one short range once you board I normally sword and blunder as it's all close range for most part blunder so op at the moment it's one shot kill most of the time. Use you surrounding to your advantage of you have good crew chasing you. Use storms towers to get a drop on them or fog. If your running from us we will chase you till you get tired as when we sail it's for a long time. We ran so many boats to the red sea and they think they wasted out time. We have most accommdations and are just running miles so sailing no problem for us.

Takes no skill, blunder generally one taps from quite a far distance that shouldn't be a 1 tap and sword just takes 0 skill if used normally

you can release from the ladder and use a blunderbuss and reattach to the ladder on a sloop but I think it's only with a blunder
The flintlock actually has great hipfire accuracy not 100% accurate but very close to it
Another tip: Sword dashing into ur harpoon does not make u have a cooldown
