My friend how do you do this with solo sloops? I've been sunk by galleon crews who took your advice, and alone it is impossible to steer, repair, bucket, and guard both ladders.
@@polecat3959 So I got Pirate Legend on a solo sloop. It is doable, but truthfully you have to play to the advantages a sloop has and ONE of them is speed IN to the wind.

Another tip is to wait to open a stronghold vault. Scouting for enemies before opening the vault can mean the difference between 20k coins in your bank or time wasted on nothing.
Great tip! It was suggested below but I am thinking about doing a skelly fort tips and tricks.
I personally either hide the key or take it away and try to bait waiting ships

Some friends and I took on a skull fort today. No one tried to take our loot, probably because we had a fully-crewed Galleon and 2 Sloops in our alliance, and we were all flying the Reaper Emissary flag

Detrinomo skeley forts for sure! You have no idea how many times we attempt skeley forts with other crews and they usually get sunk before they can park. Or, YOU die from friendly fire while fighting mobs....

These tip and videos have really helped a lot. I'm a masterful helsman and able to manuever so smooth. My weak point is combat, both ship and hand to hand. But these are helping!

I've always found it dumb that the Sloop is the slowest (excluding going into the wind) when history says otherwise. It gets worse if you look at it from a balance stand point as well, let's take the ship that can have 4 crew members and make it faster then the ship that can only have 2, but wait, there's more let's take the ship that has 8 cannon and make it faster then the ship that only has 2...."Oh well Fred how will we justify someone playing the Sloop", "Make it slightly more maneuverable, they'll be alright". All that aside still a very good game just wish there was more end game content, I don't care much for cosmetics/glowing cosmetics.
I have a feeling that the next big announcement will be a huge adventure mode update for the game.

@@scaryjoey8914 Sloops should go fastest period, you shouldn't be penalized for wanting to play alone or with only one friend. My rant above wasn't about why they go faster into the wind it was about the decision to ONLY make them faster into the wind

Also the brig is faster than the galleon cross wind (the wind is blowing to your left or right)
Dropping the anchor to drift around can be really fun, especially when you are getting chased, because u can bring the cannon into position in seconds
I've ran into alot of players that drop anchor to park there boat. That and keeping the sails up in ship combat can be affective with a good sailor rotating the ship with the cannons facing the enemy or Meg. 2 on cannons 1 watch for boarders. So many different tactics make this game great

@@HitboTC exactly. Ive also encountered new players that have trouble with fighting Meg and kraken. A few didn't know they could be killed lol

Great vid. Will u do a quick vid (1-3 mins) explaining/showcasing each role for newer players? I have some friends that recently got the game but explaining everything is kinda hard.

As a new solo slooper after my entire galley crew quit on me, I'm watching to know what to avoid. I never really put myself into pvp, because on our Galley the driver was to be kept alive at all costs. I was the one who was guarded, and if I was the last one on the ship I was to go to the bottom of the ship and start repairing till my guards came back and I could maneuver us out of danger. As it stands currently, the only PvP fight I would win would be against a day one solo sloop.
I swear this man deserves 1 million subs easily

that’s why we never really assign “roles”... it makes it so unfun for others. when we come up on a ship, we just ask who’s boarding and who’s not. Keeping one person under the decks at all time just sucks the fun from the game for them. as long as your crew is competent, it’s usually an easy win anyways.

mg crew roles:
repair slave:repairs even if there is just a hole on the second layer
food slave: follows you and if youre low on health she/he gives you a nana
ship slave: stays on ship and lowers anchor/fixes sails and is not allowed off unless told so
Captain: steers the ship and directs what the crew to do during combat and also i usually best at combat

Aye, the Galleon with the wind is faster than the brig, but it requires more coordination so there is an edge on the brig.
@@HitboTC That's definitely true running true to the wind. But as the angle widens to a broad reach the brig catches up, then at a beam reach its about 10% faster than the galleon. Also a fun fact: all 3 ships are fastest sailing at a beam reach, not running true to the wind. Sailing at close reach the galleon is faster again so you gotta watch you don't angle the ship so far that it is against the crosswind.
So if you're making your way to an outpost in a Galleon and the wind is suddenly against you, how can you make it so you're not going as slow as a snail?
Do you turn your sails or...?
Now if we can just get every noob to watch this video will be golden

Hey man i love ur videos, but i want to make mention of something if i may...i want to talk about speed of ships...theres a big discussion about ship speed, saying the sloop is fastest into the wind, galleon slowest into the wind and so on, however i always have galleons catch me even directly into the wind...i think there is an issue the devs havnt dealt with yet and i dont want folks thinking the wind will help them because it dosnt seem to give any advantage in my opinion...but please keep up the vids man, i really do enjoy your content
Hey mate! Thanks for the feedback. I have personally tested the speed of a sloop against a galleon into the wind and the sloop does have an advantage.

The Brigantine is actually the fastest one on average. The galleon is only the fastest with Deadrun and second fastest with crossbeam.
Barrle balls are really good too.

No it doesn't, it stops you accessing barrels to get the supplies; they're still there after it wears off.

I agree with the majority of your points in the video, but I have to disagree with the idea of assigning specific roles to members of the crew.
Helmsman - Gunner - Boarder - Sails - Repairs - Supply stock
These are all roles that can be assumed, but should not be exclusive to an individual player in the crew. I do agree that you could assign an overall role to individual players who are better at certain things (sailing, boarding, gunner, etc.) in the ideal situation that you are all present, but that no crew should stick rigidly to those roles in the case of death. Any good crew should be malleable and able to take on any role at any given time. Any good crew should manage role rotations depending on the situation (deaths, over board, tactics).
In each situation the importance of each role changes, and the crew should adapt for that when there's a man down; if your crew are stuck in rigid roles they will never learn the other roles and you will be losing cogs from your machine with every man down and you will literally sink when you come up against a worthy opponent.
At the end of the day, your own ship is your biggest priority. If three men are dead and your ship is sailing freely but your boarder has boarded the enemy, even if they are winning the fight on their ship, they should return to their own ship and ensure its security and safety. The only time you can sacrifice your ship is in the event you have other means of securing loot such as a row boat.
Otherwise you've won nothing.
I would have included advanced ship tactics such as:
Tacking the wind (zigzagging) to catch ships against the wind.
Full sail middle for catching ships against the wind when there is no opportunity to tack.
Raising of sails (usually the fore sail) in order to make tighter manoeuvres.
Clubhauling for a quick 180° turn on any vessel.
Keg propulsion (Dropping a keg behind your own vessel and lighting/shooting it to propel you forwards), good for sticky situations or for creating distance between vessels.

It's interesting to see how each different crew plays and handles the ship differently.
My personal opinion comes from being let down by people who wouldn't change roles, but now I've found a permanent crew there's no issue with that because we all rotate :D

How you get good at cannons. If you can’t hit what you want. You can’t learn how to. That is with me anyway. I can’t hit far shots but I get nailed every time. How do they do it?
Practice in arena and take in to account the direction of ur ship and how the waves move u up and down

(heh heh he didnt get them all this time) also over the months I have observed that a brig is usually faster with full wind than a galleon, this is because a brig accelerates soooo much faster than a galleon, and with all the twists and turns in pvp, it will end up being the fastest no matter what.
Lol. Sorry mate! And Aye, that is why I say the brig has the advantage since it is easier to manage with the two sails. However, a good crew on a galleon is a force to be reckoned with.

I think the brig is the worst. It is like a sloop only having one level but there are more areas for holes making it easier to sink.
u gotta stop picking on solo sloops and sloops in general.. its a little embarrassing.

@@HitboTC as a fan of the channel and I watch a lot of your livestreams on demand its not very exciting to watch u sink a solo sloop for no apparent reason. 90% of the time they are on a cargo mission or something irrelevant. As a slooper most of the time myself I know that a crew of 2 capable sloopers are no match for a gally of the same caliber.. your best videos are gally vs gally or brig.. picking on anchored sloops do nothing for your rep or the whalelord :)
