this video confirmed to me once again that I am indeed an ENFP. I have countless ideas about many different subjects, can make detailed plans around them but just as you said, that's the part where it all ends. After expressing the ideas out loud or fantasizing about them for a while, I suddenly lose interest and jump onto a new grand idea. I dive deep into the topic, learn a lot, form a plan, enthuse about possible outcomes and... the moment is gone, the magic is gone and I rarely follow through

    • @michelledoan4447
      @michelledoan4447 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

INTJs and ENFPs do make great duos because they both value grand ideas and visions. Their Ni-Ne dom are perfect complement for each other, and can entertain each other immensely in intellectual discussions and pursuits.
Their second and third functions (Te-Fi in INTJs and Fi-Te in ENFPs) serve as satisfying loop of validation and support that the two types need.
The tragic part is, Nathan was right when he speculates that INTJs can be pretty cynical, annihilistic in one of his videos. With ENFPs being natural optimists (all positive, seeing only the best in everyone), the two types can come to a head and be involved in pretty unhealthy situations (where detachment is not a choice). Because both are stubborn and pretty much an idealist at heart. Just something to be mindful about.
-Speaking from an ENFP account in that duo -

Actually @Juanita F. , that's pretty good. I'm old enough to remember when the Japanese recognized that they had an issue with creativity in their culture. They were masters of taking a great idea and fully developing it, but they were fully aware that it wasn't their idea to begin with.
For example, Sony bought the transistor from RCA and built from that.
Another was the SLR camera. Exacta, a German company, had developed the flip up mirror so that you could focus through the same lens that delivered the image to the film. The problem was that you had to cock the film for the mirror to drop back in place. I guess they figured ' what's the point of focusing the camera if you're not ready to shoot?' I dunno.
A small company at the time in Japan, Pentax, recognized that people might want to do that and developed the Single (focus) Lens with a mirror that Reflexively flipped back into place after the photo was taken.
This issue with creativity and innovation concerned them enough that they started trying to find ways to teach it.
I think it was Noam Chomsky who tied the structure of a culture's language to the way it collectively thought and dreamed. Japanese (at the time) was a very rigid language that required a new symbol for each new concept putting them in a horse pushing the cart situation. By comparison, English is said to be a brutal language to try to learn if you're new to it because the very many ground rules seem (are actually) so chaotic and full of exceptions and contradictions. But once you've got a grip on them, their are no constraints.
As my father, an English teacher, used to tell me "Yes you have to learn them, but the reality is that if you're using English and can be understood, it's good English."
We make conceptual connections based on observation and worry about naming it later.
"Haiku of sorts" is a good description. I think it bends the strict definition of one a little but I also feel that adding a bit of flexibility to anything so rigid is a good thing. Otherwise it risks being left behind and forgotten by evolution.
Well, that and the three lines that you wrote accurately described how I sometimes feel about being ENFP and made me laugh about it. Nice!!!

I'm not sure if I've commented on this video before or not, but I just came back to say (again?) that I really appreciate your explanation!! I rewatch this video a lot. It's refreshing to be taken seriously (maybe this sounds dramatic lol, sorry if that's the case). So many ENFP explanations are along the lines of: "fairy" "rainbows everywhere" "helping everyone stay positive" "sunshine only" "can't really do anything or contribute much, they just smile and never finish things" "manic pixie" etc. All of that is fine, and sometimes fun, and does accurately capture some parts of many (but not all) ENFPS (I DO feel full of rainbows and sunshine when I'm very happy! I can take on too much and drop the ball sometimes...), but I think those descriptions miss some of the important things that I value about our type. This feels like a much more comprehensive and fair (maybe fair is a weird word to use, but that's what comes to mind!) explanation. Also, you give off teacher vibes (and from other vids it seems like you are, in fact, a music teacher?), and I love an engaging lecturer =D! I can feel my loyalty energy getting activated hahaha!! I'm going to go on a video sharing spree!!

Both Champaign and series of chords involves the interaction between the producer and consumer. In other words, a Champaign maker carefully selects a variety of grapes used in the fermenting process to create a distinct taste and aroma that are tailored to individual preferences. Similarly, a music composer carefully select each chord/note to fine-tune a unique sound that stimulates a person’s mood/emotion.
Both Champaign and series of chords are very delicate. Even adding a small percentage of a varietal grape blended in Champaign alters the aroma and flavor. Similarly, by changing a single chord alters the overall sound and interpretation of the final end piece.
The aroma/taste produced by specific types of Champaign, and the unique sound generated by series of chords have the ability to stimulate our memory - recalling familiar senses associated with a specific time, people, place, or thing.
“The champaign’s acidity level reminds me of my grandmother’s organic lemons grown in her backyard. She used to add them in my tea whenever I visited her in the summer.”
Or... “the sound of these chords reminds me of a similar tune used in Sesame Street’s audio books that I listened to as a child every night before I sleep.”
    LOLOL Totally BS this.

But I have seen the blessing of this part of me also, it's given me a "I don't give a crap, I'm going to try it" attitude to life, I'm not not going to try something because I'm scared I will fail, I get frustrated when I am not an expert straight away but it never stops me from trying in the first place. Through it I have picked up multiple random but amazing hobbies throughout my life. It's even allowed me to transition into a different career that I never thought I'd be able to get into. Channelling this trait with discipline I think will make loads of ENFPs unstoppable in life, and that's what I hope to do.

The idea thing is the hardest to deal with concerning my ENTP spouse. If I have an idea (as an ISFJ) that is creative, I generally desire to implement it. He agrees with this strategy, but doesn't seem to recognize that specific steps must be taken in order to make such things a reality (or even that they need to be reality in the first place). He says he wants the freedom to pursue anything, but that is truly all he wants: the possibility of pursual is enough.
When we both fill out paperwork, I tend to be quite fast. I've been known to make a few mistakes, but I generally do not panic. He, however, takes an excruciating amount of time to pore over the details, as I imagine inferior Si is torturing him about it.

Ahahaha i like how you had to tell the enfp listener that was not a euphemism. You know us too well! And we seriously have to be told that.

Being several steps ahead is a gift and a curse. We can see the end from the beginning -be it a relationship, a book, a movie, a new venture. Very rarely are we surprised so when we are -it’s…surprising. I love being genuinely surprised. 😂

Yeah, a lot of times I'll follow the connections I make to a conclusion, ,but then even I am unable to fully grasp how it is I arrived at the conclusion. Extremely frustrating when explaining things to people who can't intuit the steps in between. With other strong Ne's I'm able to just give them an answer and they get it, but I dont want to be limited to only properly communicating with a fraction of the population. Any advice?

Thanks Nathan. Sometimes my ideas are so abstract they only have very subtle or niche applications, or they may even be incomplete, and discussing an incomplete idea is important to me, but others can become very confused or uninterested in following the path i'm taking, claiming it to be pointless or not worth their time. this causes me to feel very isolated from others, as this world in my head is where I am, but I can't bring anyone in there with me. I only get recognition for the result of my process and not for the process itself.
But still, thank you for the advice, I'll keep that in mind. Love the videos! keep up the great work :)

1:43 I am intp and my friend is enfp, ive never laughed like that. My friend make a mess my doing anything and his sense of cleaning his house is something he dont feel, even when he already cleaned there is a mess, going out for work can be difucult proces and when something went wrong i see a big emocional impact but there is fast comeback, i realy like his relaxed cognitive feeling state of mind but that fixing on idea is a lot of pain
