    I'm 37 and an ENFP. So far my careers have been as follows: art teacher, nanny, dental hygienist, and currently yoga & fitness instructor. Who knows what's next! 😜 I like switching careers. 🤷‍♀️

    • @caseyw.6550
      @caseyw.6550 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Zaynab Bader Yes I got my bachelor's in art education and I decided teaching wasn't for me. I really just wanted to study art in college and the teaching thing was the only way I could see myself having a steady job. But my passion really wasn't there for teaching. I kinda fell into the nanny job during that time and stayed with the same family for years because I loved them so much. As the kids got older, I started looking into going back to school. That's when I got my associate's degree in dental hygiene. I really enjoyed that work and will probably return to it someday. I basically just took some time off to deal with life issues and because I had a baby. The best advice I can give you is to spend some time shadowing a dental hygienist so you can really understand what the job is all about. I honestly just became interested because it sounded like a good career, but I spent basically zero time thinking about what the job actually entails. For example, it can be very hard on your body working with your hands so much and being hunched over patients all day. It's hard work, but the pay is good and you can easily sorta set your own schedule. I also prefer it over teaching because it's a job you can completely leave at the door when you go home at night. Being a teacher was too emotionally draining for me because you get so invested in your kid's lives and some of them come from very bad homes. You have to really take care of your mental health in that situation. But it's also incredibly rewarding and you can make a big impact.

    • @deljeane2204
      @deljeane2204 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      how did you feel about the dental hygienist job. i've been looking into it.

    • @caseyw.6550
      @caseyw.6550 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@deljeane2204 It's a great job if you are detailed oriented and like working with your hands. School and all the state licensing exams were extremely stressful and it was way more involved that I was expecting. It's honestly close to the same level of intensity as a nursing program. Most hygienist say they wish they had just gone into nursing instead because there are more options for the type of setting you can work in and what your job entails (more variety). And you can almost always find nursing jobs. If you live in a smaller town, hygiene jobs can be harder to come by. But that just depends on location. Many hygienists can't work for several decades because they will have back problems or carpal tunnel in their hands. It can be very hard on the body. Just some things to consider. I really liked it though I'll probably go back when my son gets a little older.

Collaborative, social, never boring, always changing, creative, requires empathy, philosophical and meaningful. I have tons of freedom when it comes to creating lessons and activities! I guide the kids, I don’t give them orders, but they trust that I’m taking them on a learning journey that is important so they listen to my directions (most of the time!). I was sitting alone in an alcove above the museum cataloging these beautiful pieces I'd always dreamed of getting my hands on, but I was so BORED and LONELY I nearly cried at the thought of climbing those stairs! I was shocked as hell that other museum workers actually enjoyed that kind of solitude. 🤤 I never knew interaction was so important to me because I can be alone all day long at home and really enjoy it. The recognition, the social interaction, establishing connections, the variety, the constant change in trends (perpetual learning opportunities), the challenge of keeping up and continuously refining my skills, using my creativity to fulfill the needs/wants of my clients, the closeness to the world of fashion that allows me to express my sense of style at my job. • @Clarity-808

    This video is *_spot on_*, and helped me solidify a part of my life's story, so thank you Dan.
    Career-wise, I'm now fully independent in the music industry, split 50/50 between music writing/production and running a music software company. That's about as much variety as you can get within one industry. While splitting my efforts between the two may hold back one or the other, in my 8 years since college I've figured out how to be successful at both (with flaws of course), and while I definitely go through major phases of favoring one over the other, I wouldn't be as happy just doing one. My thirst for variety has been extreme ever since I was young.
    The kicker here - which Dan brilliantly points out near the end of this video - is that knowing your general passion or career field *_is not nearly enough_*. ENFP's need to find a specific role/purpose/job within their passion that will fulfill their need for variety and growth. Finding this niche often takes a great deal of thought and observation.
    I learned this the hard way when I went to music school thinking I was going to be a drummer. I love music and drums, and got a $32,000 scholarship to study drums at one of the world's top music schools. Sounds like an epic combo, I know.
    Well, I couldn't have been more wrong. I got to school and never practiced. I thought I was lazy and unappreciative of the amazing opportunity I had been given at one of the top music schools in the world. It's music, playing drums which I loved... it should be the most fun thing imaginable. I didn't know what was wrong with me.
    In reality, I feared having to practice the same thing for hours and hours straight, and variations for days and weeks and months and years at a time. Here's the thing: I never really practiced growing up, it was just easy for me. I was never going to practice & love it enough to be the best. Just because my passion is music doesn't mean that drumming - once the obvious choice - was the right way to harness and explore that passion.
    I'm eternally grateful that I turned to music writing and business within my first few months at college, which give me more variety than even I can handle. (Which, to be clear, is a good thing.)
    If you want to reach your peak, combine your top 3 passions if you can. Mine are music, software, and business. So I created a music software business, and will always pursue music writing. This realization, simple as it is, changed my life.
    Anyway, sorry for the rant but I had to write this down, and hopefully another curious person will benefit! Dan, keep the awesome knowledge coming :)

      Wow! This exact thing happened to me when I finally got to study animation in my dream city.
      I've always been good at drawing and sculpting but as you said I didn't put hours of effort on those, I was just good at them, and suddenly doing them for so long for the rest of my life seemed... scary.
      I stopped caring and became indifferent, I just did things automatically, and as an enfp, you should know how sad and unsatisfying is that. I was studying the major that I wanted in the city that I have chosen, so why am I so unmotivated? What's wrong with me?
      It was until I got my first job in post-production that I found my true passion. There was so many projects and variety of tasks. And I understood that as beautiful and enchanting animation is, the same activity of drawing for hours wasn't my thing, and I could still contribute to the process on its final stages, plus the interaction and flow of ideas was super endearing

      I to found massage as a way to find a steady career path that allowed enough change and flexibility to keep me interested. got my license in Texas last July.
      before that I worked in sale for a B2B chemical salesman, and before that worked at GE in natural gas. I've had so many jobs in the past 13 years it's annoying because I can't seem to stay in one place long enough to really get ahead in life.

    I'm an ENFP 43 and in first year of a BA majoring in Writing I really hope this is the one! :)
    I also completed many first year studies in Social Science Counselling, International Business, Massage Therapy, Animation. I have also completed 6 month or less in courses of Tourism, Teaching Primary, Accounting as well as spent 1.5 year each of becoming a professional Kick Boxer, a Violinist and a Chinese translator. Have I forgotten anything ...ah yes the only certificate I have to show after all this is a Diploma in Applied Information Technology.

    ENFPs have a very good function stack to put them in the career that satisfies their abilities to complete and achieve ideals! With hero Ne and child Te we can come up with an efficient path to wealth that will inevitably help us in whatever Ne Fi ideals we wish to accomplish! The ENFP seeks status and accomplishment to be seen as competent and not just a dreamer with nothing to show for it.

    Amazzzzinnnggg video. Your insights are sooo valuable for an ENFP like me. Especially the sixth sense intuition we have, our necessity for interaction, and interest in project-based work. These are all so spot on for me.
    People have always told me I understand them on another level than most can understand people. I can understand people through their small actions before I even know their names. I thrived in retail and customer service (although probably 99% of the population despises it), just because i love to talk to people. And project-based work is great for us ENFPs that always want something different going on, and to work in small steps instead of large spanned themes.
    We got this ENFPs!!!

    My perfect career would have been art and design/decor.
    But I was encourage by Mom to Business related - so PR Marketing, Plus Sociology - and was in Marketing/Sales as both an exec sales person, Mgs, and ultimately VP - that preferred the clients to the office and later a COO -
    Well the recognition - is the carrot - especially when it comes with a bonus!
    Independent in my own home office, on the road with client calls all over USA and Canada.
    We are successes that simply need cooperation and confidence.

    This is so spot on! Hey, an Architect can really be a good career choice. Just try to avoid large firms w/ too much structure + INTJ types (typical architect types). It can be a very varied, interesting career + the profession badly needs extroverted people-people. I have run my own show as well, but got walked all over too much. I laugh so hard about not wanting to give or get orders + the control factor.

    Passions arent dictated by personality type but they are influenced. For example. ENFPs tend to lean towards both mental challenges (Ne) and emotional ones (Fi) I guarantee a good majority of ENFPs fantasized about being a superhero when they were younger. Not for the glory, not for anything of the pragmatic or practical sort. But because superheroes have the ability to do what they feel is right. Careers that tickle the intuition and emotion and morality, are most likely to interest ENFPs. Where as an ISTJ would enjoy jobs that stimulate their values of routine, consistency (Si) and structure, rules (Te). I would say ISTJs are most likely to be fine with a desk job.

    This explains why I chose an interdisciplinary degree mixing History, English & Social Science. It was too boring to just choose one ☝️ topic, & that there are more and more interdisciplinary options is a huge benefit for us, because we are so curious too. I do believe our curiosity is a large part that helps our intuition sharpen as well. Thanks for these videos, because it does help to know your own self and those who resonate in the same way as well. Have a great day & keep up the good work!!

    I'm an ENFP and I love it. I work as a recruitment assistant in an architecture firm and the variety of people I get to meet everyday is AMAZING. I've been working here for more than a year and I never get bored. I meet architects, engineers, artists, painters, admin staffs and more! Even plumbers and carpenters and glass cleaners- my God the spectrum of people I get to interact with ❤ My hyperactivity is productive but the downs is just REAL DOWN MOMENTS and I think I may freak some people out lol. My boss knows how to manage people, even me so the work environment is really good. And the fast paced artsy environment is the perfect workplace. I don't see myself working in a deskjob at all. My boyfriend is an INTJ and we have real different personalities but still make it work cause he knows how to handle my crazy. But its also cause my scattered thoughts somehow get organized when i lay then all out and he helps me figure things out. 🙂

    As an "enfp" i would strongly advise to take a endeavor that need a high emotional investment .
    Artist is the best match , as for variety , it s really broad concept and has a wide range possibility 😍😍😍 ( before esthetism, aim for the communication of feelings )
    Music is cool too, even if it is hard it is the perfect challenge for self confidence
    ( i like piano , violin ,guitar , trompette)
    Digital painting and traditional drawings , are great to communicate emotions
    Acting is cool as voice acting.
    But damn it is hard to stick to one idea 🤣🤣🤣
    Also ,I don't know what I want , cuz I like sciences math too, 😱😱🥺
