Another recipe I recommend Del Monte fruit cocktail, pineapple, mango, tub of Cool Whip, a brick of cream cheese and sweetened condensed milk. Make sure everything’s blended in smooth, then fold in the drained fruit. Best served refrigerated

My son-in-law's mother would use cup hot water, dissolve the jello, add small pieces cream cheese, stir, then after cooling add other stuff seems like or something like that. I didn't care for that version. But I did love the pink cranberry fluff version. Use blender or processor to chop raw cranberries fine, add cup sugar and stir in let set,or sugar to taste. Add cool whip and chopped fruit and nuts to taste. Add marshmallows.

Have you ever tried making whipped "cream" out of coconut milk? I just put it in my stand mixer with a little honey or maple syrup (just alone it's great, too, just not sweet). It needs to mix for longer than cream, but it's just as fluffy and delicious. To avoid using gelatin, you can use corn starch.

She could go into the kitchen and make MAGIC HAPPEN!
She used to have the dessert section cornered as far as I was concerned, this type salad, and sheet cheese cakes, cinnamon rolls... oh save me! She used to make me my own personal blueberry cheesecake when I'd come home from school on the holidays. I miss her so much 💕 OK I'm definitely going to do the PEACH AMBROSIA too!

I had the “moldy green salad “ long ago when I visited my brother and his wife. It was fabulous and I have loved lime ever since. I will buy mandarins fairly often as it is an easy snack for my late husband and my grandkids. Every one knows the rule in my house that you do not throw away your citrus peels and you wash the fruit before you peel it. I keep a ziplock bag in my freezer for citrus peels and my favorite is mandarin. It is so sweet, with a strong orange taste and little pith. I use it in orange anything from orange chicken to orange desserts. If you are a cranberry orange muffin fan, black walnut instead of regular walnut and a half or whole mandarin orange peel takes it from good to fantastic! The white pith of the peel is bitter, which is why I prefer mandarin over a naval orange because it has only a very thin layer of pith that doesn’t survive being frozen. But if you are using a peel that has a lot of pith, you can scrape it off with a spoon before or after freezing OR you can grate only the outer layer of the peel before you peel the fruit. I have trouble grating the peel after it has been removed from the fruit so I slice the peel as close to a sliver as I can. If someone has a hack for grating an ‘empty’ peel, I would love to know a better way. My comment has made this seem harder than it is, but I would toss mandarin peel in this salad. Or lime peel in the moldy green salad. Don’t forget grapefruit peel as it has a lovely taste and will complement many desserts. Orange peel is also good with fudge, candied and dipped in any (dark, milk or white chocolate) chocolate. I don’t mean to be rude, making a long comment and suggesting modifications on your recipe. I have wanted this recipe for decades (4?) for so long and I thank you!!!

I made a very similar salad back in the mid 1970's. I didn't use any jello or cool whip. I put fresh oranges that had been sectioned to remove the tough membrane. It had several oranges in it. I put the sour cream and pineapple and some coconut and the marshmallows. It was yummy. I think that plain or vanilla yoghurt would be good substitutes for sour cream. Cottage cheese would be a good choice if it was pureed in a blender.

You are only the second person who seems to know there is a difference in liquid and solid measurement ! This looks good, I’m going to try it with lime jello and pineapple. Enjoy your videos!

Both measure volume, not weight, liquid measuring cups have extra space to prevent spilling, solid cups are exact so that you can level off the top to get the right amount. A cup is a cup whether wet or dry.😊

My first time here too. ✋🏽 Caught my attention with the word “fluff”. I’ve had this & idk it was sour cream (or cott cheese)! What I ate I could eat the whole bowl but it was 🍒 cherry & had the coconut & nuts 🌰 THANK YOU for giving me the complete recipe; can’t wait to try this - made by me.

I love Jello Salads. When my Husband became Diabetic had to rethink my favorite Lime Cottage Cheese Salad. My hack:: use whipping cream and Splenda packets instead of the sweetened condensed milk. Same amount as the can of milk would be and a few packets of Splenda to taste. Sugar free boxes of lime jello. Use the cottage cheese, nuts, and crushed pineapple. It sets the same, tastes the same but less sugar.

This reminds me a bit of Ambrosia. I use real whipped cream though and chunks of Rocky Road stirred through as well. Cheers from Aotearoa New Zealand.

    Thanks again Greg. Love it!

@@Penland1234 if that was directed at myself, yes we did. 😊 The kids were very cautious as it's not something we have seen before. One spoonful and it was smiles all round.
      Have a great day.

@@MyAussieGardenKitchen well that was a quick response. I use to have a little black weenie hybrid dog that was cautious like your kids when it came to new food. It was like he feared he might not like it. He was rather oddly round-shaped. Not hotdog shaped like most weenies. All black and could do front flips even though I did not teach him that trick.Kind of like Ecco the 🐬. Not sure there will be another dog like him again but I will think about him when I get around to making this treat 😉
