My mom use to make one called Watergate salad… pistachio pudding. cool whip, crushed pineapple, mandarin oranges and maraschino cherries . She would fix it at holidays, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas.
I loved making Ambrosia Salad with fruit cocktail, crushed pineapple, mini-marshmallows, flaked coconut, canned Mandarin oranges, Cool Whip (more stable than whipped cream) and a dollop or two of sour cream (or plain yogurt) to balance the sweetness. Yum!
For Thanksgiving use instead of pineapples in the lime Jello use sliced pears. We call it pear salad. It tastes great, very mellow and sweet, and not a taste people seem to have too often.
Chef Kristie, there is a pistachio salad that is a family favorite. It's pistachio pudding mix, and crushed pineapple, with mini marshmellows, pecans and cut Maraschino Cherries and whipped topping. It's delicious too! Every Easter it was on our table, you can add a cup of coconut too 😀 Now is the perfect time for these salads, thanks again! ♡sBm
I grew up on jello salads like these in the 60's, my mum made one she called "Hawaiian Fluff", she made her own whipped cream with pineapple juice and pieces, oranges, coconut and maraschino cherries chopped finely;I loved it. Now I am going to have to make one as it is very hot here, thanks for the inspiration.

My aunt has a recipe for apricot jello. TO DIE FOR!!!!! Getting extremely difficult to get apricot jello these days. Thank goodness for Amazon. My mom has been making this for every family function and literally can’t show up without it.
This morning, made a 1/2 batch of the last one. Used sugar free black Cherry jello and thawed frozen cherries. Wish I could find sugar free cool whip! OMG… this is heaven on these HOT days. Thanks for helping me rediscover the love of Jello.
This was called Watergate Salad back in the 70’s…I guess because it was popular around the time of the Watergate scandal. My mom still makes it and we love it!
My Grandmother always made her version of "green stuff" every Christmas! It just wasn't Christmas without it. After she passed, my Aunt made her first attempt to keep the tradition alive. However, she was in a rush and only had one box of lime jello, so she combined it with a box of cherry she did have. After all she thought, red and green govtogether at Christmas. Right? Weeelll... Turns out when you mix red and green jello in the recipe it turns a sort of grayish color. So that first Christmas after Grandma's passing we had "GRAY Stuff"! It looked kinda like brain tissue. Not very festive. Made us miss Grandma but we also had a good laugh to balance our grief.
Yes, I love this one! A few years ago I decided to pullout some old jello recipes and I made the “green stuff”! 😂 Also, a mandarin orange, tapioca pudding recipe with dream whip (can’t remember all the ingredients), but this definitely my favorite!
My mom made a 2 similar recipe for my sister's wedding dinner, one strawberry and 1 lemon. She added little pieces of angel food cake before refrigerating. It was 62 years ago and I can still remember how delicious it was.
Another one my Mom made for potlucks is : lg box of strawberry/banana jello use pack directions for hot water. Use only half cold water amount, add in well drained crushed pineapple, 1 container crushed frozen strawberries and 1 mashed ripe banana. Pour half mixture into 9×9 dish. Place that container into refrigerator to set.About 30 minutes. Use a medium size sour cream to layer 1/2 inch thick then add rest of jello mixture on top and return to refrigerator to set.
I am glad I found this channel. I just bought 10 boxes of Jello, two of each flavor. I would never have thought of putting pudding and Jello together. I will have to go to the store again for the pudding and Cool-Whip. Then I'll try your recipes. Thank YOU!
I make my pistachio pudding with cool whip, cottage cheese, pistachio pudding mix, and crush pineapple. Mix all together. Its as delicious as your strawberry salad. Thank you for sharing. 😋
The lime jello flavor is great at Christmas time, when you use pieces of red Maraschino cherries drained, cut in half & mixed in.. very festive looking with the red & green appearance or you could use the green cherries in the pink jello for another Christmas party item.
My family makes an amazing pistachio jello salad with milk, fruit cocktail, crushed pineapple, whipped cream topping, and pistachio pudding powder. We call it Pistachio delight!
The strawberry and cottage cheese recipe is the one my grandmother made for potluck at church or if guest were coming. She would put hers in 9 x 13 in container, also. I just found you and I'm looking forward to more videos. Thanks & Blessings ~Sidney Anne
We used to do several versions of that. Cherry jelly with Maraschino cherries and cottage cheese. And a lime jello and pineapple with cottage cheese. All had the cool whip also.
OMG these are all so delicious looking. I've made alot of jello salads and love them. Grew up with them. Mom always made them too and I made them for my kids and my kids make them for their children.
