Nice car and I really like the understatement on the outside. Also cool: It still has a Maybach Logo in the front. Just seen a new GLS Maybach and it "just" has a Mercedes Star on top of the Maybach Grill.

I had a ride in one of these and a S63. The Maybach made so much more sense as it doesn't pretend to be sporty. The only thing I didn't like were some of the plastics inside.

Sound system is pretty good - not as good as the Bentley Continental, but still reasonable. And besides I only tend to listen to podcasts these days, so it's not as important to me.

Don’t you feel though that the modern maybach is just a stretched S class. It doesn’t have the road presence of a roller which also gives you the feel good factor jthat buyers of these high value motors desire.
Thanks, er anonymous 1320613. Yes the Maybach is a modern stretched S-Class, but I guess I can pretend it comes from a long line of luxury vehicles with that historic name. It doesn't have the road presence of a Rolls-Royce, definitely true, but you'd be surprised just how imposing this thing is compared to a standard S-Class, and with those wheels, and the chrome, and the mysterious Maybach badge on the front.

I've seen quite a few Maybach's around Europe and all, unlike yours, had the usual Mercedes star symbol on the bonnet. Is yours a special on-off? Good video, btw.
He just stuck on the Maybach logo as an aftermarket piece haha!

People that have never been in or never owned an S-Class have no idea what what it is like when the car is traveling at speed, that's the one thing that's always been scary in my S-Classes I have owned, if you go very fast it's kind of scary, feels like warp speed in movies or TV shows because the car accelerates but you don't really feel or hear anything, just quiet and vault like. Over here in America it's no big deal to buy a Maybach new, they regularly discount them to almost the price of an the regular S-Classes but you almost never see them anyway. I have never been driven and over here no one else is either in these types of cars. And tires, yeah...😒

I had a beautiful brand new Mercedes over $100,000 Canadian. Many components failed that should not have. Service centre experiences, three of them before I found one that wasn’t so horrible. My friends too who had Mercedes. They were damaged regularly by the dealerships mine included. My car had $15,000 warranty work in the first year. At least eight visits to the dealership in the first year. I can’t believe the suspension components failed on your Maybach. And it seemed way too soon to be changing brake fluid. My family has owned six Lexus products. Reliability, world-class standard. Two Lexus are 20 years old now and running fantastically. All of them made it to 20 years. Three were bought used because we know the cars never break. And they were top-of-the-line. My latest is a 2010 which I’ve had for three years. LS 460 L, awd. Premium luxury seating package in the rear. Very advanced technology too. My 2001 LS 430 Has Lane departure warning via the cruise control that apply the brakes when you are approaching a car decelerating. Mercedes didn’t bring that in for 10 years. I love Mercedes and Maybach, very beautiful cars with fantastic advanced technology however unreliable. As is Audi and BMW similarly. One of my friends is vp Of a magna corporation, automotive parts manufacturing. He says all the German products are lemons which I thought was unfair but he’s absolutely correct.
Thank you Damien. Would you ever consider one with an electric powertrain? I know you don't like EV and want a V12 in there, which I can appreciate! However, as you note, an EV could work here, or in a Rolls. It could fit the character. What do you think?
I think EV is perfect for cars like this, and it wouldn't change the character one bit. Just like Rolls-Royce - a natural move to EV IMHO.

Is it possible to actually use the rear tables to work on a lap top from or is the reach from the seat too far to be comfortable or/and the tables not stable enough?
Yes it completely is, in fact I edited an episode of TheCarGuys in the back on the way back from the Aston Martin factory in Wales.

Almost as if it came with a Merc badge, and then it was changed to a Maybach one.
The only downside of a Mercedes V12 is that you can't get one in combination with AWD.

Do you still own the Maybach? If so, are there any recent common issues you have encountered with the vehicle? I'm in between choosing a W223 newer S580 vs. a 2020 Maybach S560.
Yes, I still have it. Main issues have been punctures, it needs oil regularly, but apart from that - nothing so far

Sounds like Mercedes after sales service is terrible, regardless of what country you live in. It was because of their terrible after sales treatment of me that drove me to BMW.
My dealer here in America is fantastic, they also sell BMWs too. LOL
I have honestly never had a bad dealer no matter what car brand I have owned.
