I didn't even know that you could take the fridge out but when you own a car like that, you also have a chauffeur taking care of things like carrying the fridge around, so that's not a major issue.
I'll never forget a post brand withdrawal assessment of the original, modern, stand alone Maybach in the interim period before it was reintroduced by Mercedes that I read in an automotive magazine that concluded that, "The Maybach is the answer to the question that no one asked..." I thought that that was totally hilarious but I still totally love it and I'm watching CarGurus very closely for my chance to grab either one of these or an extended wheelbase Bentley Mulsanne.
Totally loved the video, it was a real treat for me personally as a lifelong automobile enthusiast...

Another entertaining and informative video of you passion and thanks for your efforts. Aside from being a car enthusiast, I’ve had a 600 Grosser (W100) for many years and wanted to follow up on your comment regarding low profile large diameter tyres. Aside from durability, J B Dunlop was really on to something. Just keep high frequency low amplitude suspension performance in mind with larger sidewall aspect ratios and drive or ride in a 600. Knowing the path and walking the path are not the same in this instance. The way one’s body is suspended whilst moving along the tarmac is completely from another dimension. It’s worth doing just to put one’s ability to assess luxury in perspective.

I was talking about the ride quality of the original 600 Grosser BTW. In any event onwards and upwards with cars and watches. Hi! Great review! How do you like the quality? You did mention about the plastic stuff on the inside. I have one of these in the S 560 4Matic guise, and the quality of the interior in my car is appalling. It never stops rattling. The passenger front door, rear screens, steering column, dashboard, seatbelt height adjusters etc. The car has visited the MB service center seven times (that‘s seven times on top of the scheduled maintenance), and the only thing they could fix was the driver‘s seatbelt, and that‘s only because of it was a recall. All the rest, still there, rattling, driving me up the wall. The very last MB for me, ever!
Fresh Juice So far its been fine in the interior, but it now squeaks on the outside
Classic car guys, informative and humorous all rolled into one. With that much leg room in the back you could have a mini fridge in front of each of the passengers with their tipple of choice chilling nicely..... until next week......

Hey guys, thanks for the insight... It might by that the rear seatbelts are not "only" double layer or nicer, rather than having a seatbelt airbag included?! Enjoy the Maybach. A wonderful piece of engineering!

Wonderful review. It's not a car that I ever thought I'd be interested in... but you really translated the character of the car brilliantly! On a more negative note, are you as disappointed as me that Geneva has been cancelled?
Like the G wagon, the Maybach is a Merc that is actually fun when used not as Merc intended (as a prop, that is). Very well done video that could probably only be made in Essex by the TheCarGuys.

Brilliant review, the best features for me were:-
The wheels
The architectural glass
The chrome framing around the Windows
The Maybach emblem on he bonnet

I’m not saying it’s the best car ever created, that’s an E63s estate in emerald green with porcelain sports seats and diamond cut wheels, but those are the outstanding features of this Maybach in my opinion. Of course as you’re probably aware opinions are like arse holes we all have one and this is mine.

Not much different to my 2010 w221 S class lwb. Has everything that has bar the fridge. Yet without the cost. Large boot. Everything you’ve said pretty much sums up the w221. 7 speed auto has paddles and various sport settings but doesn’t feel a large car when you want to go quick. Brakes are superb and little body roll in sport mode. Still can’t bare to sell it. In fact I sold it for6 onths and bought it back...still love it

I'll make it clear that I like the car, and what ever you paid for it Damian (and I don't need or want to know the price) it was a bargain - all that great car for so little buck. Well done!
My only issue (aside from the electrical reliability in 10+ years time, and the half-tonne boot swallowing fridge) is.... Maybach as a marketing and business exercise is a failure. That lead-balloon like depreciation reflects the marketing fail - its a tarted up S class in a posh skirt. Its a very, very nice tarted-up S Class in a posh skirt, but that's the model's pricing reality. A new one would cost £189k - that's in the middle of the new Bentley Flying Spur, and the higher price Bentley Mulsanne v Rolls Royce Wraith - all three bespoke model cars. I guess that it sells few models than either of those three cars - so could claim exclusivity - but the retail market reality prices it at mass-market S Class Level. Good Luck!

Is this Maybach comparable to a Bentley Mulsanne perhaps? Size, weight, thirst and performance? Or is the big B just that bit more refined and luxurious? No plastic interior bits for a start... Would make a nice video: have the two out a the same time, and swap driver Jason / Damian halfway?

I’d be drinking chilled from the fridge Neat Grey Goose Vodka from the bottle. The tables would be out & I’d be doing big fat Man Lines of the finest Devils Dandruff off them. Regularly. Me pulling on the back of my drivers seat is probably the only thing I can write on here and the least of his problems in the front......ha ha....
