  • You can eat all mushrooms once, so it is important you can tell the difference between the safe and the poisonous ones if you intend to eat them. Don't just be sure the one you pick looks like a safe mushroom, check there are no look alikes which may be poisonous and easily mistaken for the one you think you have. Check the time of year it should be out, the habitat it prefers and how it changes with age.

You just can't beat been out in the woods before the sun comes up, a very fresh pine resin smell to the air plus the stars. Almost winter here now so not that much sun anyway 🙂 Bit harder to get up early as the temperature drops though. Best wishes

Don't eat the red ones, I don't intend to try that experiment 🙂but I was surprised to come across so many in one place. The Shaggy Parasols however are fairly good to eat and easy to identify. Wishing you and yours all the very best

Excellent mate! 👌🏽👌🏽😎… yep I’ve tried an ink cap when I was younger and having had a couple of pints the night before made me feel like i was dying! Never again 😆😆…. I like the parasol mushrooms too, I usually just pick the giant parasols as they are hard to get wrong. Great time of the morning to be out and about, I’m always up at 04.00 for my journey to work, but I’m looking forward to getting out for pleasure at that time soon. Great looking breakfast that! Banjo and mushroom! Squirrel looks like it’s going to make a good addition to dinner too! 😋😋😋…. Take care my mucker. Keep up the great work 👍🏻👍🏻😎 very best wishes

Yep I was at work at the time so nearly had to pack in and go home but it only lasted about half hour or so.
Yes the mushrooms are not bad and always pop up about this time of year near up in the pine wood. This year there are also masses of Fly Agaric, I know Lars of Survival Russia collects them and sells them to some pharmaceutical company but I shall be leaving them well alone. Two meals from the Squirrel and I have the skin salted ready to tan.
Very best wishes and don't be working too hard. 👍🏻

You are so right, I have had a few incidences in my early days so am a bit more cautious now, but I do believe in learning by experience 😂😂 Best wishes

I'd fricassee that squirrel and let the mushrooms go myself, it's amazing what you find when out in the woods.

You are so right about finding stuff in the woods. However in this neck of the woods the amazement comes more from the man made objects than the woods themselves 😂😂

Never tried the Fly-Agaric, apparrently it causes hallucinations and psychotic episodes. Such a shame as it is easy to identify and there are plenty where I live.

@@GrasshopperOutdoors me neither, funny i keep bumping into mushroom hunters when i go on wild camp trips, last lot in Dartmoor were after magic mushrooms, funny its aways lads out willing to try anything. Im more interested in a nice pint these days

@@willstonvelo8100 I have learnt the hard way that it is not a good idea to eat mushrooms willy-nilly, some can kill you even weeks after you ate them and forgot all about them, others can just really spoil your day (I would include magic mushrooms in that category). I now stick to a few known safe ones that have no look a likes (or if they do I definitely know the difference) and I pretty much know when and where they will pop up. The yellow staining mushroom looks very similar to the horse mushroom, it makes some people ill and others not, I found that one out after the fact, that they did not make me ill. Also beware the internet as even I can see that some mushrooms are clearly miss-identified in some instances. ATB

Good to hear from you. Yes lots has changed, we just have to keep moving and keep laughing. Hope we all catch up soon. Now I am off up the hills on another mission with the dog 🤑🤑🤑
      (Edited) P.S.
As for the experiment, I did plan to do it, but ended up doing it by accident while at work (I had left my sandwiches at home so ate shaggy ink cap to compensate). I nearly ended up telling the lad I was working with that he would have to run me home if I did not get any better any time soon. Luckily it only lasted about half hour but makes you pretty sick.
