You betcha, however after a long day of driving, most of what I say back to the GPS would have to be edited out. My spousal unit has often told me that she would rather get out rather than listen to me talk to an inanimate object that can't answer back. Oh well it is what it is. LOL

My father and mother in law traveled too and had to give it up because she was getting sick from the constant jolting on her body and she’d get bladder infections from just sitting even though she wore loose fitting clothes. .. they of course no longer do this…enjoy while you are able and I hope many more wonderful miles ahead of you.

Long travel days and multiple travel days definitely wear on you and after our adventure out west last Sept, from Knoxville, TN to our first stop in Williams, AZ, Peggy and I were definitely ready for a break. Five travel days in a row, with day 4 being 475 miles. I will NEVER do that again. BTW...we stayed at the Railside RV Ranch, based on y'alls comments on it from a couple of years ago...Nice. The Portal in Moab was a beautiful place too. Thanks for the suggestions guys and safe travels.

Our Class A is all set for boondocking. Last spot we stayed was Tuttle creek camp ground, at Alabama Hills in Lone Pine Ca. Beautiful! High Sierras one side high desert other. Spent 2.5 weeks. Trash and RV dump. Also the movie sites from yesterday, see the museum. . Senior America the Beautiful card $8 a day. Enjoyed the creek, and bats at sunset! Stay put for awhile and save gas money. Lone Pine is a great place.

Even with a 21' RV trailer fuel stops can be difficult. Prices on-highway are highest, but they're usually a straight shot that doesn't require tight turns. If I'm below half a tank sometimes I'll top off when I see a convenient place. I hate running low and having to use a cramped little gas station.

Love watching y’all travel as much as you do. We’ve been full time for over 2 years now and love (almost) every minute of it.
    Questions for your live feed;
    1) do you plan on adding an air ride suspension such as Kelderman to your new truck to help with comfort on travel days?
    2) what has been the item you ended up using/liking WAY more than you ever thought you would?
    Thanks!

We have been full-timing for about 7 months now. For us, it's an exception rather than a rule to have reservations for each night. Our travel plans are pretty fluid and we boondock a lot.
We try to plan out our fuel stops, but nothing is for sure until it happens!
    😉
We try not to go more than 3 hours, but again, it depends on how we feel.
We have 3 large dogs and so we try to stop every 2 hours or so to let them out for potty and exercise.
Unlike you, we stay at Walmart and truck stops. We have a super C.

Long travel days can be a drain on you, and when you aren't used to them, it seems like it's even worse. Because of our location we have to travel about 1100 miles to our "first" true destination before heading to the second one, and we now spend an extra day at the first one just to unwind and relax a little bit. I can't begin to imagine how much of a challenge it is for Tara - my heart goes out to you for keeping as upbeat as you do (I know we don't see you on the bad days, nor would I expect to - you need your "me" time just like everyone else).

As someone who has RVed their entire life, but just recently went full time, it's the travel days that have been the biggest pain/reward. We've finally gotten our system down to a few hours for breakdown and a few hours for setup. Our problem is we stay in a spot for a few months with the way contracts work for us, and then we usually move a long distance in a very short period of time. Fitting all of our stuff into our travel trailer can be quite the hassle. We're getting a cargo trailer this week to help the haul for the future, but hopefully, we can move to a fifth wheel that better meets our needs soon.
Also we love the way Gigi annunciates KOA, and when we go to places that have movies about them we love to watch while we're there. Did you enjoy a viewing of Tread while in Granby? LOL

I have to agree travel days are a bit stressful for me. Towing a long heavy trailer is challenging enough without worrying what some speed demon in a car will do. …pass then brake hard to make a turn…YIKES!!!
They see a truck/trailer and HAVE to pass even if you’re traveling at the speed limit.
You’re right pulling off to let even 1 car pass is preferable to them getting antsy, passing in a poor area and putting several vehicles at risk.

Spot on with rest areas and travel days. I added a 60 gal reserve tank in my truck so we can drive all day and minimize stops. I make better time that way. With the truck tank, that’s about 90 gal of fuel. When we stop for the day, I unhitch and fuel the truck for the next day. I hate wasting time on fuel stops. We travel from about 8 am to 3 pm each day. If I extend the day a little, I can make 500 miles a day but I don’t push it that hard every day.

Toward the end inside River Run RV Camp...Chad could have showed them how to get their location put on Google Maps...looks like someone had some cash to invest in an RV Park ! In a couple of years the trees will benefit much more as they grow. I have to agree...with todays RV's and people needs as well as the cost for spaces, you would think a new park design would have more space between neighbors and less constrictive navigation throughout the Park. I guess the theory is like any tract home development...maximize plots, not maximize experience.
With a lot of those slow pokes on the road, especially when climbing, I simply find a lower gear and hold it there with the cruise control on and enjoy the ride. Usually at some point the slow poke pulls over and even if not...its still not so bad. You can imagine some drivers are seasonal and have white knuckles on mountain roads and steep grades. You'd think those folks would get better training about their rig and driving it.

Really love your videos and the "realism" you bring to RV life. We pull a 36' fifth wheel with a Ford diesel and too find it frustrating when we get behind slower traffic not able to go close to or at the speed limit. But, I do submit that a "speed limit" is the fastest someone should drive safely for everyone on the road... If I'm able to go the "speed limit" pulling my camper in a hilly or curvy taurine, I struggle to feel obligated to pull over and let the "speeders" go by. Call me a jerk, but the "speed limits" are set for everyone's safety. Now if I cannot maintain a speed very close to or at the speed limit, I will certainly pull over and let any traffic behind me cruise by. Again, just my 2 cents on feeling that we have to pull over to let those that feel it's ok to go over the "speed limit"....

You guys really make me laugh. I was telling my wife as I was watching you guys back your trailer in that it reminds me of me and her. It is a very stressful time because she has to put me right where I need to be and I know if I make a mistake I risk damaging the RV. The stress level goes through the roof for those few minutes. It’s a good thing she can’t read my mind and I can’t read hers because we would probably not be very happy with each other. All is good a few minutes later!

We like travel days if we are NOT going home. We don't unhook though. That is alot of work.
We have an unrelated to this video for you both.
What brand is your foldable canoe and where did you purchase it?
Thank you for your videos. We love to watch them. However when we get behind on new ones or just like watching some others again we end up not getting to bed until after midnight. 🤣😂 Time flies by when you enjoy watching videos.
    Safe travels to you all.

First of all, we LOVE you guys so please read this hateful comment w humor as that is my intention! 😘 YOU GUYS ARE SUCH PRINCESSES!!! When we travel w our rig, we have a long way to go and a short amount of time to get there. We laugh so hard hearing you guys talk about traveling 200-300 miles likes it’s a big deal and you gotta have 15 potty breaks and a big meal, yada yada… we will randomly decide to go from the Phoenix area to flagstaff to go real camping which is the same distance… our summer trips are Phoenix to Austin then to Sioux City IA then Washington then we have two days to get from 2 hours north of Seattle all the way back to Phoenix again. And we love every minute of it… almost. Lol… also, we have a 38 ft travel trailer and our truck is gas, not diesel… we are getting a diesel soon hopefully because getting gas SUCKS when you can’t use the truck lane ever

Tara would probably go nuts if she tried what we did. We went on a 2400 mile trip from Mo. through Iowa, and out to Devils Tower and back in Sept of 2020 with not one reservation at any parks and overnights only. We stayed at an RV park every night and had a great trip. We were free to go as far or as little as we felt like. Getting ready to do it again.

What a coincidence. Someone gave us a dog riding bed just like Daisey! We try to stay 2 nights for every 300 miles we travel. Not always but most of the time. Tortoise and the Hare?? The motor home beat ya to the Campground? That got a chuckle out of me. Safe travels!

After 4 years on the road we never do truck stops. Many options are available. All Mississippi rest areas have 24 hour security and free dump and water. Also we use cracker barrels about 20 times a year. Another option is passport america.we get 1/2 off stays for one or two night. We have no affiliation so this is honest info. Just saying.

UGHHHH! We also hate travel days! I try to keep them under 3 hours if possible. But sometimes you can't help a long 6-7 hour drive. I just start counting the minutes to a truck stop LOL. Even if I don't need fuel I often stop for a break. Anyways love watching you guys! I can't believe we haven't seen you on the road yet as we are often in the same areas.

I really liked this episode; we recently bought a larger unit, a 5th wheel, and seeing the handling and backing up methods shown. Also, the last place shown in Colorado...THAT looks like a place we would like!! I agree, travel days are stressful and just getting someplace and setting up is bliss! Thanks for your videos.

You two are just like us, we try to limit travel days to 300ish miles. We are about to embark on a 4 day/3 night trip from the Hill Country of Texas to Pigeon Forge. All these days will be in a row so we will definitely be tired of traveling. Of course the current Gas prices don't help, we also use the EFS Card which we signed up with because of you guys. Thanks for sharing. Don't forget the IPA 🍻

I have physical health problems (lymphedema) and loathe travel days. My legs swell really bad and my body aches all over. UGH! I would never have guessed you have health problems since you look so healthy. My condition requires compression hose which are miserable especially in the heat. I haven't worn shorts in 30 years. Just have to trudge on and enjoy life because there's always someone else that has it worse. Take care!!

I've driven I-80 a few times. Once was from Scaramento, CA to Milwaukee, WI (turned onto I-88 after the Mississippi River) mostly straight through in 2 days. Ice storms in Wyoming were not as fun. But lots to see along the route you took like you said. I enjoy your videos as they are memories for me of trips past that couldn't have been filmed back in earlier technology days.

Glad to see Daisy got some camera time too. I appreciate the ride along, looks EZ PZ, I know it is. Got to be easier than our Big Truck and our 53' refer trailer...retired now 10 years and don't miss the BS that goes with it. But we would like to get a setup similar to what you guys have and travel, explore and visit family, might happen someday yet.

About pulling over, If you are doing the speed limit and others want to go by, they should use the passing lane and do so. I do not pull over, if I am doing the speed limit. Now if I am slowed by how steep the terrain is and going under the speed limit, then I will find a place to tuck in so they can pass. Won't do it unless I am the cause of being under the speed limit. I used to drive a truck and I would have never gotten to my destination if I pulled over for a line of traffic behind me.

Chad & Tara - there are a few places (states) where they do not allow you to stay over night in 'rest stops'.. Be aware of that when you travel. I run into that in WI and SD but I'm sure there are others too. This was another excellent video - thank you both for doing this... Ride safe!

Our Garmin for the first time took us down a dirt road! Luckily, about 1 mile down on the dirt road there was a cross road where we could backup our 45' toyhauler and reverse direction. The Garmin kept complaining that I was going the wrong way until I shut it off. That was the FIRST time that our Garmin sent us the wrong way - UGH! Thankfully we were only a matter of 10 miles from the location which we used google maps to get to.

When possible I'll study the route prior to driving .... I've learned not to trust the GPS (Garmin)
On trip 2 days ago ... the Garmin told me to make a turn several roads before the appropriate intersection
Then again at end of trip it had me routing via some side roads into the park
On prior trip it wanted me to drive through a old subdivision verses a direct to park via a main road
I usually take a yellow sticky and list the primary roads I'll be on and showing timing & distance of each leg
I do this so if the Garmin says something I dont expect ... I wont listen too it

Great video exposing what it's like to travel with a big rig for longer distances. Great job explaining that manual mode of the hydraulic levelers too . Florida is usually our longest trips and we split them into 2-3 days depending on the distance. I wish I could stick to the 300 mile rule more, but as a working stiff sometimes I just have push further then due to limitations.
