Thank you for sharing how you get medical care while on the road 😊 For me, after retiring from 20 years of active service in the AF (Go Falcons!), I was able to get all of my care through the VA, they were wonderful! Now back overseas, hubbs is still active, I’m covered under tricare as a dependent but the care is severely limited (they never should have cleared me, NHS is a beast, but - here we are…) Saving grace - While abroad, I do virtual appointments and the VA has me in “Travel Veteran” Status. It was easy to ask my primary care for a referral to see a specialist (cardiologist) for annual check-ups, while back in the states visiting family. The VA even has a coordinator to help Vets through the process and schedule the appointments 😊
Love you mentioned SkyMed. My mom and dad got a plan when they retired. My mom needed it to get from San Antonio back outside of Detroit MI. They packed her up at the hospital, transported her and my dad to the airport where a medical Lear Jet, with crew was. Flew her to Detroit and transported her to a hospital 5 minutes from their house. I took care of their RV since they stored it near my house in San Antonio in the summer. But, they had friends that used to get their RV back to MI. Like any policy you hope to never have to use it, but well worth the investment if the unthinkable happens.
We are so very blessed with an awesome vet. We up until 2 years ago had 3 aging small dogs with various chronic conditions. No matter where we are or what is going on they will call us and call in meds to vets and sometimes pharmacies depending on the meds. My best advice is to find a vet who understands your lifestyle. We did have a long term connection with our vet but he and his office are wonderful. Unfortunately, we have lost two of them but still have our youngest who has chronic pancreatitis and having a great vet for us is just as important as having good care for us. Take care.
Great video as always. Some great information as well for all who travel full time. You guys obviously have it down! Happy to see Phil getting around too! ❤️❤️
Can you explain to me what this DEF IS, I'VE SEEN the Hanks pick up some DEF AND FIGURE IT'S GOT TO BE SOMETHING SPECIFIC TO Diesels but I don't know what it is or what it's for/purpose.thanks
First Aid Kit - We keep in the truck. We almost always have the truck with us. If we are out bouncing around in the rocks and boonies, it won't do us much good in the trailer. We also added a couple of tourniquets, Israeli pressure bandages and chest pads. Not hard to learn how to use, and when you're traveling on the back roads where the nearest First Responders are going to be the local Volunteer Fire and Rescue, response time is not very good. (Not their fault, time and distance)
Tourniquets are only good for those who are trained to use them. They are no longer recommended for those without training due to unnecessary injuries.
What an awesome intro!! I was thinking about you two and wondering where you were! Glad Phil is doing better and his recovery has been good. Stacy you make a great nurse! 😘🙏😊
It’s always best to plan medical care and pet care. I’m glad you guys are living your best life. This June was a somewhat sad month I sold my RV and truck, had been camping in RV since early 80’s. It got where was having more than one medical issue that made driving and set up and down difficult. In July we were fortunate enough to get into a rental unit at Myrtle Beach Travel park and next July we upgraded to their villas. Love your Channel, the Hanks and the KYD family. Thanks for your content an I wish you and Phil safe Travel’s.
Good luck on your knee I had mine done and it's been over a year almost too and I'm still having trouble so best of luck to you take care and have a good time
Great video! Our dogs specialist vet turned us onto getting prescriptions at Costco, you don't have to be a member but since we are the price was discounted further. We've also pickup veterinary prescripts at Walgreens and Walmart.
It's great you provide the reminders on the safety issues. Many folks, including myself, will sometime get in a hurry to leave. Not good. Like my father who was a pilot, there should be a check sheet to ensure everything is done. Thanks again, and thanks for showcasing my fabulous city, San Antonio, Texas.
FYI! Our dog has two meds that she has to have each & every day! When we started to run low, (we were in AZ) I found Walmart Pet Pharmacy online, was able to order her meds & food through them! We did have to get our veterinary in Canada to email the prescriptions, but once that was done it was easy & quick to get! And it was so much cheaper, that we ordered enough to last until we come back down to AZ!! Highly recommended!! 🐾🐾🐾 By the way, your video was so funny!!🤣🤣
Stacy and Phil, it was so awesome to meet you here, at Sun Outdoors Rocky Mountain RV Resort. Still can't believe we actually got to meet you here. By the way, I went back for another pizza yesterday. I was hungry and it was really good. Really happy to be part of the crew as well. Pete & Lisa #WestsontheMove (Space #101)
Hey guys! It was so great to meet you. So glad you joined the crew. Be sure to hang out with us on Discord when you have time. That is where all the magic happens. Hopefully you will be able to catch one of our events. The info for the January Gathering is on the crew pages. Plenty of space if you want to join us! We have 43 rigs signed up now and would love for you to meet everyone!
Great opening! We used to use Walgreens, until they screwed up on some scripts, and claimed there was a nationwide shortage of one (there wasn't), leading us to switch to a local grocery store, part of a nationwide chain. At that point, we found that scripts Walgreens was charging us for were free! Since then, we switched to the pharmacy chain across the street from Walgreens, for more locations than the grocery, and they also don't charge for what Walgreens did. One of our scripts is controlled, and that's a hassle. One bit of advice I have on that is to not be in Mississippi when you refill, as they won't allow transfers either in or out of the state, so you'll need new scripts both times. Other states we've been in, you get one transfer. So you call your doctor, get your script sent to a location in state A, then next month when you're in state B they can simply transfer it. The month after that, in state C, you need to call the doctor again. If that makes sense. We have doctors in two locations now, for different things. I have some concern about my scripts being renewed when I'm past the 1-year point from my last physical. In the past, my doctor has been OK with renewing one last time, as long as I scheduled for another physical. But this time that won't work, since my last doctor left the practice, and we won't be anywhere near there anyway. Our dog is also 14, and we're just now trying to get a script renewal for her. Not fun. The major online pharmacy claimed our current address was no good, so we thought we'd get it sent to a local friend. But then the online pharmacy called to say they're out of the med anyway. I hope you enjoy CO. Our last house was in west metro Denver. It's a great state, with a lot to offer.
Phil, you are a lucky guy to have such a beautiful and knowledgeable nurse looking after you. As always, your videos are very informative and entertaining. Thank you! Be safe out there! Semper Fi.
LOL... You guys are cracking me up. This was just what I needed today. We are out here full time and hope to see you guys someday. Be safe and I'm so glad Phil is doing better.
So funny AND informative. Coolest summer temps we've found are on the coast of Oregon and Washington. Teladoc is great! Some CG's that don't allow mail deliveries will allow medication deliveries. Dentists are the tough one for us. We have a great dental plan but every dentist wants to do their own x-rays even when you send them x-rays from a previous dentist which means that cost is on us. Then you have to schedule a second visit for a cleaning. I hear of people getting dental care in Mexico. Dental care on the road (for those of us without a home base) would be a great future topic for your show.
Congratulations on getting back on the road! This has been one long hot Texas summer! We have been disappointed by several parks recently and after a year of FT travel have started to keep a list of "nope...not again" parks. As with anything....you just have to find the humor and celebrate the really good days and RV parks! Safe travels and good health!
Haha loved the intro, and the cohorts you got to help as well. I'm not sure how far north you are coming, but Spokane is getting up to 105 during the day. Here at Glacier about 95. The good thing is it cools way down at night.
Great video. The first 15 years after retiring I didn’t use the VA either. The last couple of years though I use them to ensure my disability rating is managed properly. Living in Orlando and a brand new facility certainly makes it that much easier. Back and knee issues; hmm, seems like this is a common issue amongst us vets!! Safe travels y’all!
I absolutely loved the news coverage! We had sky med’s when we traveled to Alaska. I felt so much safer having that coverage when we were so far from home for such a long journey. You guys are hilarious!!
Hey, you drove past us twice and didn't let us know so we could meet up with you. We have been watching you guys since you were doing your purging at your house. We live in the foothills, Evergreen, CO. We could drive down and meet you somewhere. Maybe next time.
Hi y’all - hope you have a great meetup with the Crew Members. Hopefully we can be at the next one. Enjoy the cooler weather. Thanks for all the information in this video. Stay safe and great travels! 😊❤️🇺🇸
We just left El Paso, TX after 4 months. Glad to be out of that heat as well. We use Banfield as our vet as we are full time RVers too. They have worked out fairly well for us.
For anyone with heart conditions an AED with the first aid kit can be a life saver when far from emergency services. CPR training is a must for everyone! Great info guys.
Pharmacist here, I'd recommend using the Amazon pharmacy. Refills can be sent in 2 days to any state. Also, prescriptions for veterinary use can be filled at any chain pharmacy, the same as any human patient!
Good afternoon you three! Finally, out of that oppressive heat into the subdued heat of Colorado! Quality info guys, esp. that of meds and care for peeps and pup. Tough situation for our cherished furry companions. Fantastic reminder and summary on SkyMed. We looked (I bookmarked SkyMed) into this a year or so ago, still have yet to decide. We'd better to make the decision a sense of urgency, "Today is Someday!!!!" The salad looks delish! Perfect for summer days and a quick "pick me up!" Nice video. As always, safe travels and experiences and yes, hope to meet up with you three someday on the road! E Malama Pono....
Great opening I like how you take Phil out of comfort zone sometimes with the great videos....ie your intro.....we know the actors....love the crazy cat lady and everyone knows Carl lol
Too Funny, great job. Y'all have been an inspiration for Sharon and I, we fly to St Louis from Eagle ID to pick up our new to us 2021 33 AA this coming Sunday. Our big adventure will begin next spring with some short jaunts; in the meantime - Live Long and Wander begins
And now I'm singing JoDee Messina. LMAO! You guys always have amazing information to share and I'm going to scan the comments for any pet/vet tips. Thank you again!
Hi Phi & Stacy - regarding the First Aid kit - we keep one in our car too. I'm prior service and had my EMT certs back in the day, so I'm good with first aid & CPR, but my wife and I never thought about the both of us doing/renewing the certs. Thanks for the great idea!
We stayed at that park in Granby, on that same loop, for a week in late May! Our daughter and her husband are work camping in Grand Lake for the summer.
We use Chewy for our pets prescriptions, just get you vet info on your chewy account and Chewy will call to verify the refills and you can change shipping to where you are, we use them for EVERYTHING for our two dogs and cat, food, treats, toys, prescriptions, etc.
What a fun and informative video. I have my meds go to CVS. I also started using the bracelets for things to remember. Need all the help I can get lol.
Great video, I had both knees replaced at the same time 8 years ago, best thing that have done foe my self. I was back officiating 5 month after surgery. Stairs was the best exercise for me as well as the stationary bike. good luck on the rehab.
Once I explained the situation I was able to get 90 days from the vet but they were expensive anyway so I was able to get them to call the scrip into BCP Vet Pharmacy and they can mail it. For a med they didn't handle I was able to order thru Walmart.
Loved the intro! Just to dispel anyone's trepidations of VA care...I had 2 knee replacements with my local VA hospital last year and recieved excellent pre, interim and post op care! I say this because people often approach me with negative (gossip/rumors) about VA care and that is not my experience. Kudos to all the military health care workers!
This video was hilarious! We get our dogs prescriptions through Chewy. Brody’s anxiety meds are set up on auto ship so he never runs out. Chewy even contacts the vet for me!
Laughed out loud at the intro! 🤣 We learned about the fuel card from your channel, and I definitely have to say thank you for the tip! We’ve saved a lot! We do the same with our human prescriptions except with CVS - transfer them to the closest location and pick up. Our kitties are young, so they can just get checkups/shots and get their microchips checked to make sure they still read at any vet that is around.
Our cat Misty is on a heart med. and our vet wrote 90 day paper prescriptions and they are filled in "people" drug stores! Worked out for us as we are travelling for 6 months up here in Canada. As an aside, I had a heart arrest 8 years ago and my wife Elizabeth saved my life by immediately starting CPR. I am a lucky guy to be here today and enjoy RVng and life!
Phil: Major news for you. Later this year Med Beds will be available nation wide and they are free for everyone. They will put hospitals out of existence! Everything on you will be REPAIRED forever! Hugs, Steve
That opening was hilarious. Glad y’all are back on the road!
The acting talent of RVers is impressive.

I know the VA has been AWesome to helping my spouse and we are very thankful.

That cold bean salad looked delicious. Might have to give me that recipe! First Aid kit. 👍

Enjoyed the intro. No comment - you two? - not believable. Looks like you are off for a great trip. Thank you for taking us along for the ride.
Great intro. So happy for you guys that you are back on the road.
Thank you so much for sharing the health care information including the Gizmo parts
Good luck on your knee I had mine done and it's been over a year almost too and I'm still having trouble so best of luck to you take care and have a good time
Great intro! My family went on a road trip from GA to TX this summer. We missed the heat. We loved coming in the bottom of Palo Duro Canyon.
Way to go Stacey!! Everyone should be comfortable driving the RV!!
Great video! Our dogs specialist vet turned us onto getting prescriptions at Costco, you don't have to be a member but since we are the price was discounted further. We've also pickup veterinary prescripts at Walgreens and Walmart.

We just became a boondocker welcome host. If you are traveling thru Arkansas on I-30 give us a look.
I really enjoyed this video! A good mix of travel shots, CG pix, and health care advice.
On the road again!

Did you call the folks at the National Historical Society before moving said landmark?

I forgot all about that opening! We need to do some more of those! It was so fun.
Love my Shipmates. Lol! The news segment! 🤣 Like drooling with a mouthful of stale old candycorn down the front of your shirt.

Sky Med is a good choice! Very nice to meet you in Grandby! God's Blessings!
Super fun intro! Glad you're back on the road!
Sky Med is just like Air Med here in the West Cost, great to have!! Thanks to talking about it!! Glad to see your back on the road again.

Love the video, guys. Super fun video to create. Hope to see y'all on the road again soon. Stuart, Missy and the 3 Dogs and the puppies.

Coors tavern is awesome in Pueblo, I'm assuming that's where you got your slopper. Best in town.
Great video. thanks for sharing

Our 1st Aid kits are always in our hike packs and we add stuff too as well as check them frequently!
