Let me start by saying, TH-cam algorithms don’t alert me to your videos enough. Now for my unbridled enthusiasm for this adventure: you guys are so natural in your reactions to what you’re experiencing in the moment, it makes the viewer feel like we’re with you on your journey. I love it!!!
You know that Creede is the headwaters of the Rio Grande.
By the way, we just love Creede, and because of you we’re thinking about buying an RV lot in the area, thanks!

We have been going to Creede every summer for the last 35 years. We have stayed at Mountian views a couple times but usually stay at fun valley resort in south fork. It’s a lot more fun there for the kids and now grandkids. I have also inquired about the lots and what I understand is that it’s more like a long term lease than outright purchase and also you don’t have year round access in the winter months. The last time we went to Wheeler we were constantly looking for our next winch point due to all of the muddy spots. It has been unfortunately very dry the last few years. We are going to be there in 3 weeks and we can’t wait. Please keep the videos coming as we always know that they are going to be great.

We went up there to Wheeler last summer in our Jeep. It was amazing!! Also, there is an old cabin up there too. We went to the cabin and then hiked over to Wheeler. The cabin was not far from Wheeler. I understand you all were on a time crunch. We loved watching your video! It brought back so many memories. Thank you for sharing your experiences, we love them.

Thanks for a great video! I live in CO and we're very familiar with Creede and the drive to Lake City but had never heard of Wheeler Geologic Area. Now that's on our list to check out! I want to especially thank you for your video editing style where you pause on road signs. For people generally familiar with the area, it's very helpful to understand where you are (and are going). Also, showing overview maps on the video (instead of making everyone go to the blog for it) is also very helpful to understand the area, and then only have to go to the blog for specifics once we decide to go. I will say, by CO standards, that 4WD road (after the gravel section) was pretty tame!! 😁

Great video, I get that great feeling when I head up Thompson Canyon to Estes Park. You said you saw no wildlife but I’m sure they were watching you. I never go up into the mountains without my 45 just in case of black bear and mountain lion. They are around. I like to know how your fuel cost is doing and I heard that they may ration the fuel and truck stops will get most of it. You can drive into Rocky Mountain park all the way to the top I think it’s at 10,000 feet. I can’t do it anymore because of COPD unless I have oxygen with me. I really like the mountain area 100 time more then the city life.

I can remember when Ron and Helen Zimmerman open the park back in the late ninety's.cause my parents would leave the first of May and wouldn't leave until Ron and Helen close the park on October 1st of every year to come back home
I would at least go and see my parents at least twice a year in Creede for my vacation
Also check out river edge in southfork this was Ron and Helen first r.v. park before they started the river edge in Creede
And this r.v. park sure has made alot of changes since opening almost over 25 years ago

We stayed there twice for a week at a time about 20 years ago.. Real nice park then and they were just building out the newer fancy part back then. However, the third year I had to have surgery.. gave them plenty of notice and they wouldn't refund my deposit.. made me mad.. never been back. Had they bee more accommodating.. we'd still be choosing it.. IIRC, the place gets pretty snowed out in the winter.. Ya gotta check out the old mines that are refurbished and are now the town gathering places in the winter.. as well as emergency vehicle 'barns' because the temp is pretty stable inside.

Like Paul Green said... Seasonal is what I was thinking also being in the mountains and that far in, winters may have no access. Not the best idea for a base camp, especially during a shutdown like the recent Covid times and you never know when you need into your base camp. Seen some cabin type bases in Florida camp grounds that you can own and simular price ranges. See Phil & Staci's video on this for details. I'm building a 40x64x16 building on 10 acers that will accommodate the camper & truck pulled inside if need be with a camper spot outside. My land, my rules. No HOA. Even though in northern Wisc & winters, it has electric, natural gas, cable services & tons of trees (firewood) with plowed streets for year round access. 3500 acer lake (stone throws away w/public access) snowmobile & atv trails at the driveway. As for ATVing, I agree, lots of fun. I run a quad (not as wide as a side by side) because it fits in the TH along side of the Harley. Best of both worlds when out. Loved this video. Yours (I realize mostly Tara as editor in chief) are really looking professional with the editing & music. The song along the long drive was awesome.

We've stayed there 4-times. Each time in the "Owner's" section. We've found that the owners are a pretty tight group. They are very sociable with other owners that are similar to them and from similar locations. But are pretty standoffish to "outsiders." We also found them to be politically active and unwelcoming of those that don't share their political opinions. After our last trip last year, we've crossed that park off our list. The other issue with buying there is that it's only open from May to October. It is a pretty area, no doubt.
