For me it’s smart to have your parents living space on a ground level. Think they are going to get older and having to go up and down stairs may not be a problem now but in the future.

Anita and Neil did a superb job (especially for their budget). Great to see a project where the family are not adding a huge modern kitchen/diner, but creating a lovely home for the whole family.

I love this show because the homes keep their original character and aren't turned into a sterile, cold contemporary house with unusual siding and roofing materials.
It's refreshing that the homes get better instead of ruined.

In Essex that side and rear extension at the end of the show would cost over 120K and you would have to deal with cowboy builders.

Russell doesn't need another job, just buy another house to renovate with his father-in-law!

It's awfull news that Russel lost his job. It's the problem of modern day economy, a job for life doesn't exist in this world anymore. Hope he gets sorted soon.

Don’t the families consult professionals who guide & advise before plans are drawn up?

Maybe they should have bought this garden office, so he could work properly from home...

Considering the parents we're paying for some of the build, the son in law should be less selfish about that gym, he probably will not end up using everyday anyway. I would take advice from a professional.

    • @Mark.Watson

Most home workout equipment never gets used anyway.

I would have put in the connecting doorway. However, it might be better not to have it in case they want to sell or rent the unit down the road.

the grandparents won't end up up using the living room every day either, they live 8 months a year in South Africa

Grandparents will eventually need to be on the ground floor.

Stairs keep you fit up to a certain point, after that, they still can build a stair-elevator

Couldn't believe that a room for personal gym equipment would be a priority - how selfish can one man get?

  • @cheskydivision

No connecting door. In laws are already running his life and they want him to give up the one small corner he wanted for himself.

wasnt so small, and i always wonder, why should a guy always have a man cave/gym/study? why cant the woman have that, too? they never seem to make those...

You grange, If it was me I would write to Sarah Beeny through Channel 4 TV, 124 Horseferry Road, London, SW1P 2TX. Ask them to pass your letter on to her.

Geez, what does Sarah have against garages? Yet again she has talked people out of having one, and now the poor guy still has no where for his gym equipment, not to mention no area for storage of paints, bicycles, kids buggies etc. But hey, they got a tiny nondescript room where they can put 2 cane chairs and a few scented candles.

    • @m402363
      @m402363 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

while white people find them a burden & shove them quickly in a old folks home! asians don't, as parents gave birth & raised you, in return you can at least be there for them in final years.

I'm straining to hear and understand the talk! The music is too loud and it's inappropriate. Just can't go on with this.
