Three years in my completely loaded XT4. 30k miles. Four oil changes and that is it. Never had a warranty issue and all of the bells and whistles work perfectly. 27 mpg around town. My 2019 BMW X5 has had so many issues I cannot count. Cadillac CUE works perfectly.
This is by far superior to a Buick. But personal preference is the decision maker. I on the other hand bought the XT4 and love it. MPG 26 mixed driving. The right amount of torque when I need it. Beautiful interior with real metal, wood, and/or carbon fiber trims. Yes the lower out of sight bits are hard plastic but that does not detract from the overall ambiance of upscale clean
One thing that I have come to realize when watching car reviewers such as this is that you have to remind yourself that much of what is being spoken of the car by the reviewer is largely personal opinion rather than objective, empirical information. While that is certainly true for Consumer Reports, it is not necessarily true for others and Cars.com is no different. While watching this person, I noticed that he was speaking of the XT4, especially the interior, much of what he said was what I equated to opinion and frankly unnecessary opinion. Come on, "the screen is tilted in a fashion that it produces glare", really?? As if that is the ultimate deal breaker. I think the XT4 is a milestone improvement over what Cadillac was producing 20 years ago. Well done, Cadillac.
Utterly agree! I have an XC40 and it's the best car I've had. Fully loaded compared to this car fully loaded, the XT4 is a good $10k more and has fewer features and less hp than the Volvo. I'm glad I didn't wait for this car to come out.
I like the review and the reviewer’s taking his time to explain the good and not so good. Seems a very honest appraisal to me. The back seat looks too upright and that is a worthy point to check on.
I went into my local dealership to look at one of these.. I went home with a 2018 Buick Regal Tour X. Every optional extra was included and it was almost $15 K cheaper.
I drove a TourX Prefereed and thought it was a little noisy compared to my 2016 Envision. There are some good deals on the TourX theough the end of the year.
I had a Cadillac SRX the lease was up and to get ventilated seats on a new SRX they wanted another 10k more. I drove away with a 2018 Equinox Premier with all the bells and whistles for 20k less...
I almost bought this SUV, but the cargo volume is smaller than Honda Fit, I decided to go with something else. The outside isn't that small compared to other SUVs in it's class.
Yea, I test drove a 2020 yesterday and was disappointed in the cargo space. Pretty much have to lower a seat to get my golf clubs in there or take the driver and woods out to fit sideways.
I think Cadillac should drop that alphanumeric kind of tagging on cars, everybody remembers the "DeVille", "Seville" even large names as "Fleetwood Brougham", I mean, more meaning than this... XT5, CT6, who can remember them???
Names don't make a car great, it is the engineering and quality as a complete package that names the name or alphanumeric memorable. Wish people realize that names don't make the vehicle great but the thorough package of the vehicle itself.
Ooooooh .. non sequitur .. I was going to ask the community "what city" but I dissected the video and found the landmark. Dear Seattle, you and your surrounding area look extra savory, see you soon!
XT5 is not associated to SRX in any way expect for size. SRX was built in Mexico on a old platform where XT5 is built in Spring Hill TN on a new platform.
It may feel strange at first. The electric braking system in the XT4 is a similar setup use in hybrid and electric vehicles. I test driven some electric and hybrid systems and got accustomed too easily. It a matter of getting use to it once you are accustomed to the vehicle. Don't let the braking system scare you off.
I have seen a couple of the Cadillac XT4's on the road and they look nice and it's a good size. It's overpriced for a compact suv and under powered, Cadillac should offer a V6. Why would Cadillac display the light logo to indicate where to kick to operate the liftgate on the driver side only, you should be able to kick anywhere under the bumper. Four cylinder engines are Not quiet, there needs to be sound reduction. Where is the luxury? There is no luxury in any of these cars and suv's today. Why won't GM let you disable the Auto Stop/Start System on any of their car/suv and trucks.
The luxury is in the finishes and technology it has. Head-Up display, 360 view, rear camera in rearview mirror, 8 way seats with massaging and position memory, parking assist, etc.............
Great review! Cadillac really dropped the ball here it's a tweener that is priced like the class above. Terribly overpriced. Performance wise its a dud with its slow acceleration , poor brakes, and an AWD system that is constantly fighting for fwd only mode. Frustrating. Interior is meh. Dash reminds me of a tablet in an Otter Box case. I see nothing that distinguishes it for the positive. Too little, too late
The XT4 smoked the Acura RDX 2.0T in handling and braking tests on a recent Motor Trend comparison. The new 2.0T in the XT4 is not really quick but that leaves room for another engine option to shine.
$35k starting price is too much for a Cadillac? Lmaoo. This isn't a Honda or Ford or something. $35k is the starting price for all of it's competitors.
@@moist_ointment - yeah, for that starting price, you get virtually nothing, not even real leather seats, and this is Cadillac! Now, when you put it against a competitor like the XC40, get both of them fully loaded, and the XT4 is a good $10k more with fewer features and less hp. Since most people are going to want this well optioned, his statement of it being overpriced is very accurate. XC40 definitely beats this car.
@@normt5463 - and you want me to believe you because another reviewer picked it barely over the XC40. My previous statement is all true and enough reason alone why the Volvo wins. I own an XC40 and have since tested an XT4. I am very glad I didn't wait for the Caddy to come out. Volvo wins.
I bought a XT4 in Dec, sold it in Feb. Over all, a poor experience with my first ever Cadillac. First problem is, there is NO NEEDLE on the gas gauge, or temp gauge... Making them difficult to read while driving. There are very SMALL LIGHTS next to the gauge. I was afraid I would at some point run out of gas with this thing, and I finally did... STUPID IDEA CADILLAC... To make matters worse, the gas milage is poor and the tank size is small... So, plan on running out of gas a lot, or marry yourself to that STUPID GAS GAUGE LIGHT. Or buy a Chevy, or GMC or Honda, they still put needles on their gas gauges.... STUPID !!
This review is very long and boring. Perhaps you should focus on making your points without dragging it out. The XT4 is boring and honestly doesn't look finished! The interior would've been great in 2013. Where's the wood? Where's the luxury? Wheres the design innovation? Where's the power? We waited so long, to be disappointed bc Caddy tried to out German the Germans that's a FAIL! American Luxury is real and it's what Cadillac needs along w real names for there vehicles. Lastly, bring back sedans ( limit thier production numbers) everybody doesn't want to buy suv's
Did you not see the wood inlays in the cabin on the dash and doors? It's one thing to complain if there was no wood at all but to complain when it is very obvious in the vehicle is reaching. More than likely, you did not watch the whole video.
@@johnls39 I watched the video. My point is that it looks unfinished! You can barely see the wood inlays, they could've put some on the steering wheel, & by the shifter. I feel like the whole XT4 was a rushed afterthought. I hope the XT6 is a better and distinct offering. They're my favorite luxury automaker I want nothing but succes for them.

Bought my XT4 2 months ago and I absolutely love it! No regrets
hows the brake bs he was talking about ? hows the power, 240 seems light, my current terrain has 300, lease up next month
One of the nicest small suvs in a while, well done cadillac!
I test drove it and a Buick. I honestly prefered the Buick ,so after 5 caddies I got a Buick.

Until they throw in super cruise for FREE, never gonna get this over XC40. $5000 option just isn’t gonna happen!
Super Cruise isn't coming to XT4 since it would put the price tag over $60k@@truckeralex
XT4 stands for Crossover Touring 4@@jeffs6090
Kyle R It comes down to design preference. While the XC40 is a good looking unit, to me the Cadillac is the winner.
Very detailed review. Thank you....

Yes, getting ready for shit to hit the fan in new product development.

@@CMrsHart The Equinox is one the most relibale new vehicles from GM right now and it is much better than Cr-v/RDX and it costs less.
That's because it's a Buick and not a Cadillac, several standard and optional features aren't even available on a Buick since it's a Premium brand.
That's Chevys best seller and you have features on the XT4 that you can't even get on any other GM brand.@@CMrsHart

Motoman review a staff member was getting 33 mpg without even trying. That is more efficient the RDX 2.0T.
I think the styling is spot on, but its too small. This styling about the size of a ford edge would print money for cadillac
This is a Winner!
I own SRX4, it was perfect for deep snow - please tell me what will be best for me - xt 5 or xt 4?
Great review! Is the moonroof standard on any of the trims? Do you know how much it costs to add it in? Thanks
....a it isn’t standard on on any trim level as of yet. $1500. Option
And it is worth the $1500 extra.
His hair I thought I was watching a video from the 90s
Lately car companies coming out with nice grill like Cadillac and Acura also instead of gm start putting the bolt technology into the suv
Cadillac will be coming out with an SUV EV in about 2 years.
This seemed too long explaining simple things.. ;-(
Yeah, overly long and lack of any character whatsoever from the host.
Did he mention the car cost near $60,000 if it fully loaded?
Like every other fully loaded luxury vehicle on the market these days.

This reviewer discredited himself right off. The XT5 is the 3rd generation, not the 2nd. The XTS went through 2 full generations.
XT5 is not associated to SRX in any way expect for size. SRX was built in Mexico on a old platform where XT5 is built in Spring Hill TN on a new platform.
The back looks almost SAAB-like, especially with the clear lenses
Parrots and Potatoes that’s what i said as well especially the Saab 9-3 sportcombi
I got a matte finish screen protector that takes care or glare and I also don't have to clean off fingerprints as often. Amazon to the rescue.
Yeah, I like engine noise. This guy is "unrefined" IMHO.

The breaks are very responsive but you get used to it. I had it for 3 months and put on 7k miles and loved the ride and handling.
Dorin Turcin I have one and love it. Great ride.
This SUV is nice but Cadillac is make a HUG mistake killing the CT6.
I agree it is the best looking Cadillac Sedan!!
GM decided not to kill it off, except ct6-v is going away after a year of production.
CT6 isn't going away, they are just shifting production to another plant. Media was missinformed.
Dorin Turcin That’s good news!
Very balanced review! May be my next vehicle. 👍🏼
