    With slumping sales in America, Cadillac looks to address the main issue with their current US lineup, a lack of crossovers. For 2019, the new from the ground-up XT4 looks to address that issue. Built off a #Cadillac exclusive platform that is small, yet strong. The XT4 represents the first of many changes coming to Cadillac in the next two years. Compared to many rivals, the #XT4 has FAR more interior space, a distinctive design, high-end features, and standard turbo power. While its starting price of $35,700 is very reasonable, be prepared for some sticker shock when you spec out a fully loaded Sport or Premium Luxury trim.

    Cadillac deserves a lot of credit, all their cars are great looking and completely different from other GM vehicles. I love Cadillac because you can tell it's a Cadillac from a mile away, while other brands all blend together.
    These new Crossovers are impressive, now I wanna see a new CTS, ATS and XTS

    Your intro is a breath of fresh air, Sofyan. Masterpiece review, sleek and truly outstanding car. I believe a lot of buyers will have their eyes on this car, though the prices are a bit on the high side.
    As always, an in-depth review that highlights the very important points. Keep doing what you do, Sofyan. There's never a dull moment in your reviews. Again, your intro is top notch. Well done!

    Wow! I'm quite surprised and ultimately impressed to see Cadillac not only using minimal part sharing (with other GM products), but actually developing an all-new platform that isn't shared with any other Chevy or GMC crossovers! Quite impressive indeed.
    All in all, the XT4 should compete and hold its own very well in its segment. The styling looks great, the technology is top-notch, and the cabin appears to be pretty spacious.
    From one car reviewer to another, keep up the great work, Sofyan!

      Every car period needs those things as standard, along with blind spot detection and other safety tech in the realm of those. They should never be options in a package in cars nowadays. They need to be basic safety a la the seatbelt, abs, airbags, etc. It's especially a huge slap in the face when your starting out with a $50k car and those basic items are in an options package.

    First off, this is the most well done First Drive review I've seen of this vehicle to date. Well done. My wife currently has a full size 5 passenger crossover and she's looking to downsize as we will be empty-nester's next year. The sub-compacts are too small. This vehicle looks to be the perfect size. Smaller but, not too small. The Premium Luxury package has all the right features and comes in at the mid to upper 40K price range which exactly what we are willing to pay. I don't imagine Cadillac will sell many in the mid 50K price range.

    Excellent Review, just leased one today, a fully loaded 54K version. Surprisingly they lease very well. So Cadillac is betting on high residuals, true or not 3 years later. But for under 18k or 22K you can have one for 3 or 4 years which is less than the depreciation if you purchased one outright.

      Agreed! Fully loaded, it's $10k too much. This really should have the XC40 as it's direct competitor. That fully loaded is in the $43-45k range, and imo a much better all around car than this Caddy.

      @devongee1776 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@jeffs6090 couldn't have said it better myself. It's just way too much for the size and scope of what they're offering. Of course this is top trim and stuff but theres not exactly an insane amount of shit in this car that I dont see happening in the non-luxury full-size sedans that are in the mid 30s and low 40s. I just can't justify another 16K just for a higher ceiling. The car's not safer or made of a different material so what's the deal here?? This is why the American vehicles dont beat Japanese

      @@devongee1776 - full disclosure... I drive a loaded XC40 (about $43k), and I utterly love it! The XT4 might be slightly bigger, but it has a less powerful engine than my T5 (a ~180hp T4 will come soon). Then with all the same features, I would never put down another $10k for this. @mscongeniality8205 6 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      Ervin0310 lol most newer vehicles have bright low beams that blind you at night if you’re dumb enough to look into them. It might just be the angle that you’re looking into their lights that’s blinding you as well. If you’re at eye level or below you’ll definitely be blinded at night.
      I have experienced this before while driving in front of a Escalade since they have a 5 level vertically stacked LED low beam setup, literally 4 or 5 different heights of light displayed. They also sit higher off the ground than most vehicles on the road so if you’re in a car it’s possible you’re exposed to it’s brightest beams of light. I hope the new Escalade has adaptive low beams as standard or at least as an option.

      Ms Congeniality you say that as if I don’t know that a lot of new cars have bright headlights, and who said I was staring into them? Coming from behind the glare is ridiculous. Whether I’m in an SUV or a low sitting car the lights reflect off of every mirror and piece of glass possible BLINDING me and night. Coming from the opposite direction they’re BLINDING regardless of the vehicle type. I said what I said. Thanks for your input tho.

    I like that certain things have been upgraded in quality like the window buttons and infotainment buttons. Interior quality over all seems to be really good and more user friendly. Regardless Cadillac will sell a ton of these little guys. Considering its size I think it’s very well proportioned over the bigger XT5

    I’ve been driving Mercedes and my wife drives an audi last year we bought our 3rd ATS honestly the new caddies are more car for the money than anyone. They drive at the same level as any German competition and blew the infinti we test drove out of the water . Got this when I brought ATS in for 35k check up and got this as a rental. Fair to say it will be my wife’s next car. Extremely affordable (for luxury cars) soooo comfortable def sporty and beautiful honestly I wish it were a little higher horsepower but other than that it’s amazing

    I agree, it's odd that Cadillac doesn't have more standard safety features. CR says Cadillac has the best self driving system, so you know they have it. Toyota makes this stuff standard on nearly all their cars now.

  • @allenmajane9489

    Don't forget, as you break down the pricing, all the rebates and incentivized financing that GM will offer. I wish they didn't play that shell game, but you know they will.

    • @mscongeniality8205
      @mscongeniality8205 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Allen Majane nope. Cadillac has apparently heard too many comments like this and now I hear they’re going to stop the rebating and incentives starting in the U.S. basically in order to improve resale value of the brand so say goodbye to the Caddy drivers on a budget.

    • @normt5463
      @normt5463 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ms Congeniality Cadillac has $8,000 cash on the hood of the XT5. Too much money made on SUVs to stop the incentive train on GM vehicles.

      Norm T Well I don’t believe the offering of incentives at Cadillac will come to a screeching halt, but I do believe they will decrease and offer them less in the future. I think it’s safe to say Cadillacs hold their value better than some other popular luxury brands. Their build quality and refinement has went up several levels within the last 10 years. Looking at the new XT5 or even this XT4 it’s obvious their prices are reflecting this new level of craftsmanship and so their resale value ought to do the same. That’s the plan anyway, so I hear. We shall see.

  • @paulblack9878

    Awesome review! Cadillac is certainly going the right direction BUT $50k+ for the top trims is just insane. Not sure what they were thinking but after a few months of the top trims sitting on the lots, there will be incentives. Just gotta be patient or wait for the next model year!
