I feel like I might be like this. For me, though, I find that I’m clingy, people pleasing to the point of annoying to those around me, and feel the need to always help others with their emotional problems and not thinking of/covering up my own. I’m a very open person naturally about how I feel so sometimes it sounds pushy. it genuinely makes me feel good to see others feeling better, but I’m so drained after. Does anyone else feel this way?
I've been helping my friends with whatever feelings they've have too and because of this, I haven't been taking care of myself and have been losing the balance. You need to make sure you have the time to relax and the time to socialize and help. It's a cycle I go through but I'm making sure I heal.
I feel like most people generally have moments of being "people pleasers" because of our social nature, so it's probably pretty normal. Like you said though, try to keep a good balance. Once people start taking advantage of your generosity, cutting them off would be better.
Being diagnosed with BPD and having an intense fear of abandonment is rough. 8 months strong with the guy who isn’t afraid to call me out for worrying too much and be there for when I need a shoulder to cry on. Even after all my mood swings and mistakes he still cared and won’t let me go. It’s so difficult and I know I’m not alone in these problems. Hope everyone can also learn to reconcile with this and find the right person :)
I honestly don't know if I have a fear of abandonment or a fear of being manipulated and played with, or a mixture of both. It makes me scared that my partner may not have the same feelings for me as I do for them. And I feel like lately they've been getting a bit more cold towards me. And honestly. It scares me. A lot.
Hey there ! First of all don't be scared and ask your partner if there's a problem with them and if there is try to convince him/her that you only want to help her/him. Well I'm not in a any kind of relationship but as a human being i think i came out really cold towards people around me when i'm stuck in some kind of problem and they judge me as a cold person. But seriously though i love them but....well it's just wrong time to talk to me. I... hope this helps your concern.
I did that so much that now I wanna be alone and I am a afraid of not being alone. I’m afraid of being with someone because if I leave loneliness behind, and take a chance, that means there is a chance she will leave and I will be lonely again. To avoid that pain, I don’t even try to date.
Who here loves this ANIMATION as much we do? COMMENT IF YES! :) Also, as part of our initiative to build more mental health awareness in Korea, we created a new video to help you see if there are signs of childhood trauma. You can watch here: th-cam.com/video/WzJdU_1rt2Y/w-d-xo.html The points are referenced from a book.
I'm always over thinking about everything and analizing everything and everyone, your team really helps me go through some problems in my life, i want to thank you from the bottom of my heart, thank you and your team
I think it is also about them reassuring us and understanding we have trust issues. I think abandonment issues comes from a lack of trust in others and ourselves after a devastating event
Another reason is you got abandoned in the past. I got abandoned a lot and my friends didn't understand my huge fear of being abandoned so I cut them out of my life since the friendship was getting toxic too anyways. Not only they didn't understand, but they also worsened it. I still miss my best friend but I'm slowly moving on and slowly getting my life back together.
These all describe me perfectly, like 100%. The issue is, that while I don't want to stay like this, I also feel like these behaviors/feelings keep me safe/defend me on some level so I feel too scared to change :(
I may have feared the worst when I watched this video. I can't live with anyone yet I can't live without anyone. I still need space occasionally. Extreme isolation only worsen that fear further. I'm confused. 💔
My partner seems to have abandonment issues and i have helped it a lot by just being patient and supportive. She seems to be getting more confident in herself and our relationship. Also more confdent in her relationship with her parents and friends.
I relate a lot with these, not in the exaggerated way is being shown but close enough, I think my fear of abandonment ruined my important friendships (and is not about a gf or relationships with a girl and such)
Reach back out if that's what you really feel! I'm in the same situation on the other side (bf dumped me because he was afraid he wasn't good enough) and I hope every day that he comes back to me. She may still feel things for you, you'll never know if you don't ask

Kinda used to being alone, but it does suck when people aren't what they seem. The more people that leave from my life, the easier it gets for me though.
Last year...... I made two good friends whom to which I always talk to after school,But after 8months or something they started ignoring me and stopped talking to me..... I was shocked that they suddenly stopped talking to me....... From then I always think did I did something.... From then I am scared of being abondended, Being a ambivert(more on a introvert side) I have very few friends.... I do anything to make them happy and they just not leave me for no reason.... 😢😢 (If you really read till here..... Thank you 😊)
Don't worry 'People lose interest in you after a while' its sad but true people leave when they find better friends😢 I hope you will get friends who will never abandon you😊
I had a latent abandon me when I was still in kindergarten. I always had issues with getting too close to people to quickly, never payed attention to it. This video was a real eye opener. Thanks!
I JUST SAW THE HAMILTON REFERENCE YES FINISH THE LYRICS, THERES NOTHING LIKE SUMMER IN THE CITY SOMEONE IN A RUSH NEXT TO SOMEONE LOOKING PRETTY THERES TROUBLE IN THE AIR YOU CAN SMELL IT...
This is real and most likely is tearing one down. Having so many horrible events like; Abandoned Rape the whole summer when I was 13 At 9 my father was dragged out of our house. By the Sheriff Department, one of them ended being Step Father. So many different types of abusive behavior, sister's, mother's friends every one that comes around. But the real tragedy is someone starts something, like yelling at me saying I'm going to be shown the door, lying that I did something and I wasn't even around..... The list goes on and on. May Love and Peace be within your soul. Take Care dearest friends.
I had a fight with my partner and these thoughts of losing them kept playing in my head. I do experienced loss when I'm just a child and I just don't want to feel that feeling again. But now, that person had started to ignore me..as if I've never existed in their life...now I'm just scared of losing them even more that I'm actually getting depressed and suicidal...😔
felt, smh.. it’s quite sad for myself and the others tho cuz where someone vents to their partner, they shouldn’t be afraid to vent to them, it was kinda weird where i was home and my person comes back home with their cousin and they got done eating from a bar/restaurant. like i thought he didn’t wanna hangout with his boy cousin anymore due to drama where he said “i’m done hanging out w/my cousin!” if so, why was he at a bar restaurant to hangout with his cousin and without telling me? like i tried to asking why he didn’t tell me that he’s gonna be at a restaurant bar with his cousin and then my bf said, “you wouldn’t understand” then just walked away from me and kept on continuing talking to his boy cousin in our home, like he said that he’s gonna go out for a ride since he was bored, idk.. i just thought of that was kinda sketchy since i thought he’s gonna go out for a lil, “joy ride”.. not to go to a restaurant bar to hangout like i dunno they bumped into each other by a accident OR they wanted to meet up with each other and planned to hangout behind my back soo idk rn like fr, this is why and now for myself i’m not really telling him what’s going on in my life or what i’m doing sometimes like couple days i told him that i went a on a joy ride to go to a haunted house in the capital of my state where i live at and then he was like, “u didn’t tell me that” and he did asked me “why did u go there?” in a concerning tune of his voice tho, now he’s wondering why i don’t train/work out with him for martial arts (shinye) tell him what’s going on in my life, or don’t even vent to him anymore, ect. (aka. more), rip.. /: ;-;
In middle school I was continuously abandoned by my "friends" during break and lunch times. Even to this day I can't walk at the front of a group because they might walk off without me noticing.
I feel you 😢 Happened the same with me in every friend group ..now i keep things to myself most of the time and well,my partner is also doing ye smae to me i feel
OOF this hit hard. I know I have abandonment issues. I figured it out a few years ago. Because of them, I've never been able to get really close with people. I feel like they're going to leave me or not care enough to put the effort in anyway. I especially relate to the picking of flaws. Whenever I feel like a relationship with someone could actually go somewhere I start seeing all their flaws clear as day and get deterred. I absolutely hate it and I always feel so guily, but at least now I know I'm not the only one! Thanks Psych2Go!
Personally I have a fear of abandonment for as long as I can remember, but it has mainly projected onto my friendships, rather than my romantic relationships. Of course my fear leads to issues in the romantic aspect too, but... All I`m trying to say is we shouldn`t focus only on the intimate relationships, because fear of abandonment can also affect the way we interact with our frineds, family, coworkers, etc. We should take all of that into account before we try solving our problem.
I don’t have to watch a video or having signs to know I’m afraid of abandonment. I’ve had this fear ever since I was 5 and now I’m 12 and I’m still afraid cause whenever I do something wrong my mother always threatens me that she’ll disown me or my siblings if we don’t do what she wants...🥲 Me editing: holding back tears because sister is here😞😓🙁
I'm also 12 and sometimes in the past when I did something wrong my mom would get mad at herself. And since I spend a lot of time with my grandma she would always say "I'll just leave and you can live with your grandmother, is that what you want?" Thankfully she never left, but that terrified me. But she has been working on herself and doesn't do that anymore.
Ty for this video🥺 My mom used to get so angry she’d stomp out the door threatening to unalive herself and go for a drive and be gone for 3+ hours. I never knew if she’d actually come home or if she’d be gone forever. That fears translated into all my friendships and relationships and it really sucks.
Dang, this was uploaded on the date when my girlfriend started being unsecure and emotionally distant... Now, about a month later, she confirmed that she's afraid of being hurt if someone leaves her, and she got emotionally distant from me because she's afraid I'll leave her too... I wish I could help her, and to change things...
Bruh in the first grade I was sobbing because my mom didn’t say goodbye when she went to work so I had to call her Bruh when I was younger I slept over at my grandma’s house and was sobbing because I left my blanket(Blankie) Bruh a few years ago I went to sleep away camp and cried every day *Bruh last year i made up hundreds of excuses so I didn’t have to let go of a toxic relationship and gave myself anxiety* I see a pattern
hey there, the pattern must surely be tiring for you but i hope it all works out soon! i cant do much, other than send good vibes and a virtual hug for you :))
The person doing the voiceover should start an ASMR channel !! Reminder :You are so much more than your mind tells you, your insecurities tell you or people tell you. I see you as an amazinggg person. I hope you know that. If you can't see your true worth in a moment its only because you are worth so much more. You are enough, actually more. ❤❤
Here's a story about how I have had this- when I was 7 years old I called the cops before school because my dad was outside. I thought he left me forever and dialed 911. This is just one example! It's strange because, I don't think I lost anything as a child. I definitely don't think I have this anymore though.
Hahahaha... children are always like that. For me it's the exact opposite: one day my mother faked an abandonment and I was so calm that she felt betrayed instead. She'll never know I feared for my life HAHAHAHAHA
I got into a relationship with somebody and moved things very fast. We said we loved eachother after the first month. I never actually let myself fully connect with her emotionally but I still stayed with her for 11 months because I was terrified of losing her despite never being happy due to not being emotionally there at all. I finally broke up with her and terrible anxiety attacks and panic attacks over it. Recently things have calmed down and we’re becoming friends again but I find myself still terrified of her hating me or thinking I’m annoying. Everytime she tries to end a convo I get a wave of anxiety. I’ve worked through so much of the anxiety to get to the point where I can finally just be her friend like I always wanted to be but now I still find myself clinging and people pleasing and being annoying
My best friend ended our friendship in January this year and since then I've been dealing with severe anxiety issues and breakdowns, I couldn't sleep nor eat. I miss him SOSOOOO much but he doesn't wanna fix things up neither he wants to hear my side of the story. I genuinely don't know what to do anymore. We were the closest friends 🥺❤
Signs and symptoms of abandonment issues in adults include: always wanting to please others (being a “people pleaser”) giving too much in relationships. an inability to trust others. pushing others away to avoid rejection. feeling insecure in romantic partnerships and friendships. codependency.
After watching the video I began thinking that maybe I didn't have abandonment issues, that it might be something else I suffer from. However after seeing your list I can identify with every single one. Thanks :)
Can we get a video on sibling relationships? We know all siblings have fights all the time, so how do we differentiate between normal fights and verbal abuse?
It's comforting in a sense to hear a discussion on this by someone that isn't trying to tell me what I'm doing wrong (according to how they would handle things). I've been wishing to have a girlfriend for the past two decades because I wanted some constant in my life that would care about me and actually want to be around me. Now I'm too afraid to approach dating because I don't want to smother a woman with being needy and clingy, wanting to make up for the years and years and years of wanting to hug and hold someone and to not be starved for human affection anymore. I'm afraid if I ever do find someone, that they'll catch on to my lack of relationship experience and leave me for someone else. It's so incredibly difficult to fight this day in and day out. It makes me feel guilt for wanting to love and be loved.
I think my brain rn is just in the worst of repression lol. Like: "Alone? What does 'alone' mean? Are there even people around? DO THEY EXIST?" Then I have a crisis because I'm alone and I'm like: "Oooh... wait, what? Do these feelings exist? Omg I'm feeling something. Awful :("
I used to be a people pleaser when I was younger. It was horrible! Instead of standing up for myself, I began to isolate myself from others, and resented them for two decades.
Can you look into why somebody like me is so quick to cut people off, or act like I don’t care about the people I love? It’s like I destroy everything I get close to
When I was a child, my best friends family moved away and she went to school and got new friends. Any time I asked her to hang out, she said she was meeting w her new friends. She said she was pretty popular in her school. My mother told me to stop calling her so I did. Many years passed and I had bffs on and off but one person in particular hur me alot. Sometimes she would be the nicest person and let me very close to her and sometimes she would just push me away and talk to other people. It continued for a pretty long time and i got really bitter about it. I found it almost impossible to forgive her, especially when she didn't listen to my side of things. She often invalidated my feelings and it was very hard to deal with. After those incidents I was really scared of commiting to a friendship but it was the thing I wanted the most. I craved meaningful friendships. In the spring of last year I started to hang out with a girl and we had a lot of fun. I was so excited and wanted to be bffs with her. I wanted us to be friends forever but I also feared that she would abandon me. And then, in the fall, she did just that. Se never really seemed to know why but I think it was because I clinged on her so hard. She knew she would hurt me and destroy me by letting me go and I'm pretty sure distressing to her to have such a responsibility. And now that I think about it. It wasn't fair either. I've done some soul searching lately and discovered all these things about myself and it has been eyeopening. I always considered if the problems in my relationships were my fault or were the people around me just spiteful. Was the universe just mean to me? But now I know and I'm so happy. I'm gonna work on it and I know I will get past it. I just have a question to you. Should I talk about these things to the last friend I told you about? I really don't know if it would be weird or...?
If you feel that talking to her about these things will put you in a better headspace then I say go for it. The worse thing is to wish you would have said something when you had the opportunity but you never said anything. If it’s imperative to you that she’s knows about how you feel, then yes you should tell her. However, if her response is not what you expect or even if there is no response at all, dont press the issue, because you’ve already spoke your truth.
Jesus this video…this is what eventually drove me to kill my first relationship. We broke up yesterday on mutual terms but now I see what I was doing wrong. I hope to be able to use this as motivation for self improvement going forward
*I think the reason why I have fears of Abandonment, is because my parents always say when I’m annoying, “If you don’t shut up I’m going to leave you here.”*
my dad wrote me a letter when i was 10, saying he had to leave for a while (him and my mom had contemplated splitting since i was born and they fought so often he needed to go), he told me to tell my siblings i loved them and that he’d miss me. my mom and baby sister and brother were all i had for those months, and i was horrified of my dad never coming. yes, he came back eventually, after a few months, but im still constantly terrified ill be abandoned again. so many friends (including my girlfriend) have left my life and my dad has been on and off doing it since i was a child... i don’t want to let anyone in again...
Thank you for understanding this topic better! 🙏 someone who loves you won’t take you for granted, there may be many women who do this too. That’s not real healthy love. Good to understand this a bit better.
Sign* I always keep losing friends and people I trust there is not much people to support me anymore, I am sad.... I just lost a friend yesterday and we used to be a very good friend. The only group of people I really trust is Psch2go, they never broke promises
6 signs of abandonment: 1: u attach too quickly to someone 2: u don’t fully commit to relationships 3. ur a ppl pleaser 4: u struggle with emotional intimacy 5: u look for flaws in ur partner 6: u experience separation anxiety hope this helps :))
One I found as I really go through this can be seen through nightmares, this is helpful in noticing most issues. Nightmares have been shown to be views of anxiety, fears and in large cases depression, without them I would have no ideas of most of these things.
Ah, I wish I waited for this video for a little bit longer before saying some dumb stuff 😅 But I do not relate to the last one, I may overthink but I keep it to myself, I'd never spam my other half with messages. I'd send one and if they wouldn't respond, I would not send more
I felt a little awkward with all the examples being about a relationship (in regards love) because while yes i do struggle in that area i don’t really experience relationships and i haven’t been in a relationship in years, the way i suffer the most with abandonment issues is actually with friends. I get attached too soon and always end up messing up my friendships, i don’t like people knowing too much about me and when i try to open myself i feel like they don’t care and see them growing apart. And that’s why i hate making new friends. But tbh i wish i had some friends.
I fear being a nobody where I'm lost in an unfamiliar world with no one to help me. No one sees me cry or ask if I'm okay anymore. I lost most of my happiness before entering middle school where everyone became toxic and manipulative people. I couldn't bare it when one of them decided to manipulate me into doing something I should not have done. It gave me an addiction that I'm very much ashamed of and I hate it. Now Im forced to defend myself without friendships to help me. I just want to be normal.
This fear of abandonment makes me feel like I will never be able to love someone as much as I want to. Just recently, I gave up in a potential partner because I was overwhelmed by the thought of how bad the breakup will be because I am starting to have so much feelings for him.
My parents split up when I was 7 and my mom decided to move back to her home country and me and my sister moved with her. I luckily got to visit home in the holidays but not being able to see my dad every day and moving to a different country was such a terrible experience. Thankfully I’m used to the situation now but I still have separation issues and anxiety
Perfectly describes this beautiful human being that I know. It is not easy to be with someone who has fear of abandonment. But I pray that you know that I am willing to accompany you whilst you are dealing with the beasts in jungle (aka your inner demons). You will get through this. You are loved and I am here for you, maybe a little distant but I am here giving you space. Take your time. Be safe 🙂🙏💞

“I’m afraid of being alone so I don’t try to get into a relationship with anyone.” 😳
I did that so much that now I wanna be alone and I am a afraid of not being alone. I’m afraid of being with someone because if I leave loneliness behind, and take a chance, that means there is a chance she will leave and I will be lonely again. To avoid that pain, I don’t even try to date.

This is actually my biggest fear

Kinda used to being alone, but it does suck when people aren't what they seem. The more people that leave from my life, the easier it gets for me though.
#1 is eye-opening! I never knew that attaching too quickly is a sign of a fear of abandonment.

So many different types of abusive behavior, sister's, mother's friends every one that comes around.

I had a fight with my partner and these thoughts of losing them kept playing in my head. I do experienced loss when I'm just a child and I just don't want to feel that feeling again. But now, that person had started to ignore me..as if I've never existed in their life...now I'm just scared of losing them even more that I'm actually getting depressed and suicidal...😔
felt, smh.. it’s quite sad for myself and the others tho cuz where someone vents to their partner, they shouldn’t be afraid to vent to them, it was kinda weird where i was home and my person comes back home with their cousin and they got done eating from a bar/restaurant. like i thought he didn’t wanna hangout with his boy cousin anymore due to drama where he said “i’m done hanging out w/my cousin!” if so, why was he at a bar restaurant to hangout with his cousin and without telling me? like i tried to asking why he didn’t tell me that he’s gonna be at a restaurant bar with his cousin and then my bf said, “you wouldn’t understand” then just walked away from me and kept on continuing talking to his boy cousin in our home, like he said that he’s gonna go out for a ride since he was bored, idk.. i just thought of that was kinda sketchy since i thought he’s gonna go out for a lil, “joy ride”.. not to go to a restaurant bar to hangout like i dunno they bumped into each other by a accident OR they wanted to meet up with each other and planned to hangout behind my back soo idk rn like fr, this is why and now for myself i’m not really telling him what’s going on in my life or what i’m doing sometimes like couple days i told him that i went a on a joy ride to go to a haunted house in the capital of my state where i live at and then he was like, “u didn’t tell me that” and he did asked me “why did u go there?” in a concerning tune of his voice tho, now he’s wondering why i don’t train/work out with him for martial arts (shinye) tell him what’s going on in my life, or don’t even vent to him anymore, ect. (aka. more), rip.. /: ;-;
In middle school I was continuously abandoned by my "friends" during break and lunch times. Even to this day I can't walk at the front of a group because they might walk off without me noticing.

I'm honestly this close to just, giving up

Wow this is spot on. It sucks that I ruined potential relationships due to that.
To everyone who's here today watching this, sending positive energy to you all. You are wonderful and unique and you all deserve to be happy.
I don’t have to watch a video or having signs to know I’m afraid of abandonment.
I’ve had this fear ever since I was 5 and now I’m 12 and I’m still afraid cause whenever I do something wrong my mother always threatens me that she’ll disown me or my siblings if we don’t do what she wants...🥲
Me editing: holding back tears because sister is here😞😓🙁
I'm also 12 and sometimes in the past when I did something wrong my mom would get mad at herself. And since I spend a lot of time with my grandma she would always say "I'll just leave and you can live with your grandmother, is that what you want?" Thankfully she never left, but that terrified me. But she has been working on herself and doesn't do that anymore.
Hang in there you guys.

My mom used to get so angry she’d stomp out the door threatening to unalive herself and go for a drive and be gone for 3+ hours. I never knew if she’d actually come home or if she’d be gone forever. That fears translated into all my friendships and relationships and it really sucks.

It's therapeutic or on purpose for the listener.
Amanda is my favorite VO. Her voice calms me so much and helps me comprehend what's being said.
The animation is so cute! I wish I could hug the little characters. ^^
Bruh in the first grade I was sobbing because my mom didn’t say goodbye when she went to work so I had to call her
Bruh when I was younger I slept over at my grandma’s house and was sobbing because I left my blanket(Blankie)

It's strange because, I don't think I lost anything as a child. I definitely don't think I have this anymore though.

Signs and symptoms of abandonment issues in adults include:
always wanting to please others (being a “people pleaser”)
giving too much in relationships.
an inability to trust others.
pushing others away to avoid rejection.
feeling insecure in romantic partnerships and friendships.
codependency.
After watching the video I began thinking that maybe I didn't have abandonment issues, that it might be something else I suffer from. However after seeing your list I can identify with every single one. Thanks :)
I have it, but I'm healing currently. My therapist really helps and my bf knows about this and accepts it. He's wonderful and caring.
DO THEY EXIST?"
Then I have a crisis because I'm alone and I'm like: "Oooh... wait, what? Do these feelings exist? Omg I'm feeling something. Awful :("
I used to be a people pleaser when I was younger. It was horrible! Instead of standing up for myself, I began to isolate myself from others, and resented them for two decades.
is having occasional nightmares of suddenly being abandoned a sign? i've had lots of them in the past..
Can you look into why somebody like me is so quick to cut people off, or act like I don’t care about the people I love?
It’s like I destroy everything I get close to
@V Maverick we gotta see people for who they really are, and let go of what we think of them.
I'm glad when people abandon me. They finally show their true colors. All people are like this when you're not useful to them anymore.
I definitely have some sort of abandonment issues
I relate to many signs🙋♀️
Thank you for understanding this topic better! 🙏 someone who loves you won’t take you for granted, there may be many women who do this too. That’s not real healthy love.
Good to understand this a bit better.
Sign* I always keep losing friends and people I trust there is not much people to support me anymore, I am sad.... I just lost a friend yesterday and we used to be a very good friend. The only group of people I really trust is Psch2go, they never broke promises
This is me...all me. I don’t know how to stop it. 💔
But it’s keeping me safe...I don’t know.
6 signs of abandonment:
1: u attach too quickly to someone
2: u don’t fully commit to relationships
3. ur a ppl pleaser
4: u struggle with emotional intimacy
5: u look for flaws in ur partner
6: u experience separation anxiety
hope this helps :))
Yes it helps thanks :)
One I found as I really go through this can be seen through nightmares, this is helpful in noticing most issues. Nightmares have been shown to be views of anxiety, fears and in large cases depression, without them I would have no ideas of most of these things.
Ah, I wish I waited for this video for a little bit longer before saying some dumb stuff 😅
But I do not relate to the last one, I may overthink but I keep it to myself, I'd never spam my other half with messages.
I'd send one and if they wouldn't respond, I would not send more
Oh a time traveller ..
But tbh i wish i had some friends.
i've been hearing about god complexes and suprioty complexes is there a dissrence or are they the same?
I fear being a nobody where I'm lost in an unfamiliar world with no one to help me. No one sees me cry or ask if I'm okay anymore. I lost most of my happiness before entering middle school where everyone became toxic and manipulative people. I couldn't bare it when one of them decided to manipulate me into doing something I should not have done. It gave me an addiction that I'm very much ashamed of and I hate it. Now Im forced to defend myself without friendships to help me. I just want to be normal.
I don't think i have a fear of abandonment....
I know i have a fear of abandonment-
This fear of abandonment makes me feel like I will never be able to love someone as much as I want to. Just recently, I gave up in a potential partner because I was overwhelmed by the thought of how bad the breakup will be because I am starting to have so much feelings for him.
Time travellers unite !!!
