In this video I take a look at the BOSE CineMate GS Series II Sound System and yes I believe this is better than a sound bar because the speakers are more spread out and point two different directions. Don't forget to give me a thumbs up and subscribe to my chanel for more tech videos. Thank you come again!

you win for still having your super nintendo and N64 out. respect.
I bought mine new back in 2009 I believe it came out. Not the gs tho. Till today still rocks out great loud movies.
This is not a review, this is what we call an unboxing, but thanks for you video
The basic ones has louder bass. And feels like you're in a concert.
These ones are just easier to clean, smaller and high treble. For sports and gaming.
As for the other one, it's for movies and music.
Which basic ones?
Dude ...you should have included sound check for full demo of this speaker..
That wouldn't truly matter as some people are using phones to watch this and etc ^^
This recall involves dual-voltage CineMate Series II and CineMate GS Series II digital home theater speaker systems designed to operate with U.S. 120-volt electrical outlets and European outlets of 220 volts or higher. Each speaker system includes two speakers, one bass module, a remote control device, an interface module and accessories. The components are black. Dual-voltage systems included in the recall have a product code of 051365, 051470 or 057971, which are the first six digits of the serial number on the product label located on the back of the bass module.
2015 Jan 2 bose series 2
Recieving mine by tomorrow wanted this since they were $1000 overly
excited your room just about matches mine...
Consumers should immediately stop using and unplug any dual-voltage CineMate II systems and contact Bose to arrange for a free repair or replacement of the bass module.
i got the series 1 several years back for free (bass module doesn't have adjustable settings) i will say that for free, it's great but, back when it came out, it was 500 bucks. you can get a system that sounds as good if not better for half the price.
there's a saying (and it's true) "no highs, no lows... must be bose" bose tries (and fails) to use drivers in the speakers that fall between undersized midranges and oversized tweeters to do the job of both. the result is a compromise where the high-end of the sound is noticeably absent.
the bass module tries to replicate lower frequency sounds with undersized drivers that try (and fail) to deliver bass. in order to hear decent bass, i must turn up the volume to levels i don't often get to.
so overall, for free, it's nice but, I'd never consider a bose home theater system if I'm paying for it or giving recommendations.
.... and yet you somehow ended up in the comment section of a Bose review? you are Bose curious?
i bought it this week... very nice sound and the bass is good to
+Iván Meneses yes you can. The is a knob on the back of the module where you can adjust the bass
Sound is amazing!
Yes it is!
thank for your review you get to the point and no long winded stuff
I would just suggest u turn the speakers in toward each other a slight bit to focus the sound right at u
Thanks for the tip. I'll try that and see how it sounds
LOUPED use the sides of the speakers as a reference
The GS stands for gemstone. The have a crisper sound. The larger ones have a warmer sound.
interesting I'.m thinking about geting one or the other the Cinemate II has a bigger enclosure on the 2 small speakers but the CineMate II look better but what's important are how they sound ..I'm thinking the CineMate II may have better (smoother) voice and mid-range and CineMate II GS may have better highs and may sound cleaner or no ? Which would you choose sound wise ?
GS in my opinion they sound better. Because of the two speakers. Rather then the CineMate 15 with the soundbar
GS in my opinion they sound better. Because of the two speakers. Rather then the CineMate 15 with the soundbar
That's a really nice setup my man. Looks like something I would have. Plus you have an snes👍👍
Thank you so much got it working
I don't know if u still have them but a friend is selling them and I wanted to know if they worth buying since they are pretty outdated and if they would perform well comparing to the current technology ?
Great I just got the game like a week ago, and I did not do the update for the first like 15 hours of the game. I just did the update and now apparently the military tech does not respawn….
Hey Louped! Really like the review of the CineMate GS Series II Bose Speakers. What I liked even more was your living room set up! I've been trying to find a table like that so I could set up my tv/gaming consoles..The one you have perfectly matches my room. Could you let me know where you got it??
Found the comment with the link. Thanks for the videos!
2:38 YAY BASS KNOB!!!!!!!!!! I love More Bass in my Heart Beat bc I love that Bass Experience!
now the bose store are selling this for only $299. good deal. good sounds.
None at the Bose store on the web today ....... but yea that seems like a good deal .
Thanks for this.
Gem Stone, the Bose called it.
nice set-up
I was surprised to find that this thing has no audio adjustments, not even a bass or treble. Just a knob for subwoofer level and a volume control... and that's it. Kind of sucks for the money Bose wants.
Hey nice video man ...can you place these speakers behind you ?
Yes you can the cable is long enough
I had no problem with Vizio TV it doesn’t work on a Sony hooking the same way frustrating
Louped, Have you checked out the $499.00 Bose Cinemate 15 with the real small 4 speaker sound bar and the conventional Bose Acoustic-mass sub ?
I'm thinking a clean used Cine-mate GS II like you have may a better deal for me and maybe better sound and it looks better too .IOW .....I can't imagine why the Solo 15 would sound any better .
I have seen and tested the CineMate 15. The sound that comes out of the CineMate GS Series II is better.
thanks for the reply.
I thought the Cine Mate 15 would be less with that small center speaker and the drivers so close together and no option to move them apart .
.I'm thinking the CineMate II may have better (smoother) voice and mid-range & blend with the sub better vs CineMate GS II that may have better highs and may sound cleaner but being smaller may have a larger vacancy between the sub and satellites than CineMate II (non GS ) or no ?
I'm also thinking of adding 2 more Cine Mate speakers at the rear in parallel wiring with a VGA 9 pin splitter or make the connections at the cables hopefully the amp can handle the impedance drop pothewise it sould mean some disassembly of the satellites and series -parallel wiring to do that .
Which would you choose sound wise ?
I have a 55" Sony XBR X850C in this bedroom room using Logitec Z506 5.1 self powered computer speakers with a powered sub and using the headphone out from the TV, they arent bad for what they are in this small room but not nearly as clean as I would like them and they don't have a digital input .
I'm thinking about the Bose Cine Mate's or an AVR & Energy Take 5.1 speakers . I heard the CineMate II model some time back at B.B and I thought they were interesting and might be fine ,not sure if I heard the CineMate GS II or not at a later visit but I may have . What do you think about the CineMate II GS vs CineMate II ?
sound test ?
Sound quality should be THE single most important factor, I mean WTF is a sound system for? And you barely said anything about it except that it sounds better than a typical sound bar. Well that's not much of a review.
Is this speaker system not available anymore? I don't see it on Bose website anymore.
It's not available on the Bose website anymore because it's been replaced by a newer version called CineMate 15 but it is available on Amazon.
Excellent video! I just bought this system last month. Question: Can I some how hooked this system just to my iMac computer or my iPad? I'm a bit slow with all this stuff. Thanks to anyone for a reply/ or how to do it.
Thank you!
Hello chessdude67. You can connect your iMac or your iPad to the sound system via bluetooth, if you buy a bluetooth receiver and connect it to the BOSE receiver. You can plug the bluetooth receiver by analog in or optical in.
Thanks for the help! I will try that soon.
Thanks again,
Tim
You can buy an Apple TV. That's what I use for mine. You stream it through your TV then through your speakers without loosing any sound quality! Excellent product for not too much money at all.
LOUPED Is it possible to connect a phone with just a cable instead of buying a Bluetooth receiver by plugging the cable to the analog in and the other end to the phone where the headphones go ? Thanks
tusambolo Yes, You can do that
What if I don't have the remote to the Bose series 2
You can buy a new remote and program it so it can work with your Bose CineMate
very nice review I'm thinking about getting one but the regular cimate none gs one with the bigger speaker do they sound the same?
Yes they have the same sound quality, they're just a little bigger
Hey Louped, nice review, thanks for taking the time and do it, really helpful for we the "slow-techy" guys. If you can help me with this concern I have I will be really thankful.
I have this sound system on my cart along with a LG Electronics 50LB5900 50-Inch 1080p 120Hz LED TV.
My question is, can I hook this two devices to work together?
I asked because I read on a comment that someones TV did not have OPTICAL INPUT.
Thanks in advanced.
Thanks! I'm glad it was helpful to you. If your TV doesn't have an Optical Input there's a second option which is the Analog Output on the Bose system.
how would you rate this systems power for music . is it loud enough ?
also where did you get you tv stand wall unit , ikea?
Trying to sell mine for $400.00. It's basically like new, I only used for less than 4 months before buying a new unit. Is $400.00 to much asking for? I'm throwing in additional speaker stands.
These Bose Cine mate II GS per eBay's own data base seem to be trending today around $225.00 +/- give or take before shipping cost , $400.00 might be on the high side but maybe not . You have sold yours by now or no ? , and if so how much ?
You bought this system but cant buy a speaker stand? Thats like buying a tux without the shoes on. It makes a huge difference, sound wise.
I didn't think it would make a difference but i'll try it with the stands and see how it sounds. Thanks for the tip
LOUPED Did you finally try the speakers with the stands? Does it makes a difference? Is it worth it? I have almost the same set up as yours, regarding the table for the tv and how I was thinking on putting the speakers position. Should I buy the stands? Your advice will be very helpful for me, thank you again.
veramuzik I tried it and I didn't notice a difference but it does look better with the stands lol
LOUPED LOL, ,,, ok, thanks a lot!

My system just stopped working, the light is on and the remote is working, Ive replaced the battery, there is nothing wrong with the TV hookups, I did the unplug for 5 minutes and it didn't reset it to get it started again. Any troubleshooting suggestions? I have had the unit for about 4 years
GS = gemstone magnets
Hey not trying to sound stalkish but where did you buy the tv furniture? I can't seem to find them
i want to buy one !
You should get one!
hi there i want buy bose system for Home Theatre Purpose but a bit confused between companion 5 series and Cinemate™ GS Digital Home Theatre Speaker System. And i am currently using companion 5 series with Samsung TV and quite happy , but i need to buy one more Bose System for another location.......so thats why i need to decide i should go for which one - please suggest....looking forward your best suggestion.......thanks...
The Bose Companion 5 multimedia speaker system is more of a computer desk system. On the other hand the Cinemate GS is more powerful because it's a living room system. If you're looking for a living room system go for the Cinemate GS but if you're looking for a desk system go for the Companion 5. I hope this helps
I got the same system an I have a Samsung smart TV using the Optical from the Bose little box to my TV.an on my setting for the Spdif settings I get 3 options Pcm.Dolby digital.DTS..It only let's me select PCM.I know the Bose can't do DTS but I would think I would be able to select Dolby Digital..how is your set??
Nice! It's the same thing with me. I can only select PCM but I'm not worried about it because either way it sounds great.
Is this system serve as a good enough system for a house party? Or is it just for home theater and movies?
I use it for everything and it's great for house parties!
Broo me podrías pasar el código para enlazar el control alas bosinas GS SERIES 2
Is it any good? How does it sound?
Yes it sounds great. I've had it for 7 years now
Does it light up without remote?
Need help hooking up
You need the remote for everything because the Bose system doesn’t have any buttons
You need the remote for everything because the Bose system doesn’t have any buttons
Was all hooked up and moved. Now need to know how to hook up TV blueray receiver and Bose system. All working except Bose
Direct TV only plugged in tv halfway!
Hey I hooked the Spidf cable directly to my directv box to the Bose box an the sound is so much louder an clearer..so I wonder why my Samsung smart tv won't change from pcm to Dolby digital.but my directv box puts out Dolby digital..very weird..
That is weird, I think Samsung needs to release an update in order to have the option of Dolby digital
i like this bose cinemate, how much?
+ckmanzano It's $349.99 on amazon right now
+LOUPED ok cool
Hola, necesito los códigos para programar el control universal que compre.
How does it sound with that xbox one hooked up to it?
how to test home theater cinemate GS series 2 with a smartphone
hi, My tv don't have optical input just hdmi and analog BUt I see that my cable box has an optical audio port, so I can connect throught this and if not there's a adapter from hdmi to optical audio....thanks
Connect it to your cable box via Optical In so you can get the best sound quality
how is the 5.1 simulated compared to a real 5.1? do you really hear some sounds coming from behind?
I don't. But I tried Sony 1000w Home Theatre 5.1. Bose is so much Better to me. I always watch movies with this. Near Theatre like Experience.
is ur bass setting half or full power at the backside?
It's halfway because the bass kicks in whenever it needs to
LOUPED great video but curious, is this system Bluetooth Compatible? And if it isn't how do you listen to your music from your smartphone through the speakers?
I have the old version but I can’t adjust the bass on the subwoofer sucks
Yes I’ve heard that some subwoofers don’t have the knob 🤔
Where can you get the bluetooth receiver, and how do you know which one is compatible? I am looking to buy these! How is the bass? Is it pretty deep?
You can find them on Amazon. They have to have an analog or optical output so it can connect to the Bose Receiver via analog or optical input. Bass is good, you can adjust the bass to you liking.
Thank you, I bought the speakers! They are awesome but for the bluetooth adapter they won't ship here. I am in the military in korea so i just bought the cable to plug into my phone or whatever it works pretty well just not wireless. will buy when i get back to the states. thank you man.
Glad I could help. Good luck in Korea buddy!
why my bose cinemate gs series ll no power i dont light
How to connect to a receiver?
Will this play audio from any component plugged in to your tv, via HDMI? For example, my Apple TV, bluray player and cable box are hooked up to the tv via hdmi. Will the audio from all of these play through these speakers?
Yes. You'll have to plug the Optical Audio Out from the TV to the Optical Audio In on the Bose and In the setting on your TV set it up to play audio on your external speakers which is the Bose System, Once you do that what ever you play thru HDMI should go to your external speakers
hi bose why no power
Already plug but no power
Louped, thanks for the video. I like my GS II a lot but am having a problem I can't figure out. When watching a DVD or B-Ray movie and the scene becomes extremely quiet; I hear a low base rumble build up, then the rumble goes away when the scene/audio goes back to loud or noisy, etc. It sounds a lot like to old fashioned "Automatic Gain Control" effect on older analog tape systems. I have a 7-year old Panasonic plasma HDTV 46PZ85U, and a 4-year old Panasonic BD85 Bluray player. Any idea what would cause this? Thanks.
That has never happened with my system. How high do you have the bass knob on the back of the Acoustimass Module?
the bass knob is set at dead center; so it is still a mystery. Just to add to the mystery, only about 90% of the time does the low frequency rumble come up during silent scenes; so about 10% of the time the silent scenes are actually silent (like they should be).
I with I could help you but I couldn't get an answer for you question. How is your setup plugged in?
Hey is this model is compatible with Wireless Audio System Adapter? For listening music
Yes it is. It can connect via Optical or Analog
hey, I haven't used my CineMate® GS Series II for a long time. Now trying to use it, but my module wouldn't turn on. Just wondering which button on the remote to turn it on? i have same remote as you. The remote is able to turn on my TV. The button for "TV Video" works to switch to difference source. I clicked the "WHITE" button on the top left which is "ON OFF", but the module would not light up green. So I can't turn on my Bose speaker to have sound. Thank you in advance for your respond
p.s all wires are properly connected, power cable and all the wires from module connected to the back of my bose speaker.
You have to push the top left white button on the remote. Make sure the plug you’re connecting it to has power. If the remote can turn on the tv then the remote is not the problem
@@LOUPED thank you for getting back to me. Yeah, the plug that the speaker connecting to has power cuz I also used it to connect to my TV. Still the module doesn't light up when I press the "white button" on the remote. Not sure what is going on. It used to work, just haven't turn it on for a long time and now trying to play sound directly from the Bose speaker instead of the TV and realized the speaker has no sounds
@@dreamworkisteamwork try plugging everything in and change the tv settings so the sound comes out from the speakers and play something just to make sure the light isn’t the problem
@@LOUPED the sound is on from the TV speakers only when I switch to eternal speakers, no sound comes from the Bose speakers at all...cuz the module light doesn't turn on. Does this Bose have a fuse we need to change if the fuse is broken?
@@dreamworkisteamwork No it doesn't have a fuse that I know of. It might be time for a new one!
My friend recently gave me this since he upgraded to a new surround system; my question is how do I connect this to my ps4 and cable tv box at the same time?
do I need to have a splitter for the optical cable to go from my tv and the ps4? Sorry for being a noob, never used a sound system before and when he gave me this to me it did not come with the manual...
paxtoy2 that’s ok. Connect the optical cable to the tv. In your tv settings go to sound and set the optical out as default. Whenever you turn on the ps4 or cable tv box the sound should come out of the sound system
@@LOUPED So basically, everytime i switch to the source in my tv - whether its hdmi-1 for cable tv, then hdmi-2 for ps4, it will use the bose as output? interesting. thanks for reply.
paxtoy2 yes that’s correct. You’re welcome! Enjoy!
How do turn on if you lost the remote?
Good question! I’ve never thought about that. You would have to buy a new remote and program it to work with the speakers
how's the surround sound imaging does true space have any significant efeect?
TrueSpace does make a difference and it sounds amazing but nothing compares to having an actual surround sounds system
LOUPED thanks just got'em today & they're pretty good...idk why audiophile/ critics hate on bose? lol 600 bucks well spent in my case!
It may not do dts bts a good system
I had it .. too much bass. keeping bass to minimum settings even then while watching the movie i have to crank the volume down and up based on bass loundness. Was not happy with it so got rid of it. I had a panasonic viera plasma 50 inches tv.
+Neeraj Sharma You are right. This Bose system turns the bass up and down but only whenever there is an action scene up or a quiet scene down, exactly how it happens at the movie theater
not really. its mostly this annoying loudness which gives headache .. i have to keep turning sound up and down based on the movie scenes. I keep remote in hand all the time while watching.
+Iván Meneses sounds like a loose wire connection or low quality hdmi or audio cables to me.
That loudness variance thing happens on a normal 5.1/7. 1 HT also its usually the content not always the Bose Cinemate .
OTOH 3 identical LRC loudspeakers in a proper HT configuration on 5.1/7.1 always helps with dialog but a lot of systems arent configured that way and the Bose Cine-mate being 2.1 and faux surround obviously has its limitations and the unique Bose sound with a hole in the impact midrange ,some like it some don' t and the dialog may not always be the best for a given film like any 5.1 system albiet I can imagine the Bose being mid bass heavy in some rooms ,it's not a true LFE sub wooffer and the LR speakers cant go over ~ 13.5Khz and dont have any mid bass .
I think most of the Bose HT systems are OK for TV and movies (within thier limitations ) as long as you don't expect high fidelity 5.1 or music or immersive 5.1 from the 2.1 systems .
I have a 2015 Sony XBR 4K HDR TV in here and a modest 5.1 and a much bigger dual 15" sub 5.1 on the Samsung 64f8500 plasma out front they both have that content dependent sound level variance .
FWIW significant sound level and same vs LFE level variance on any production is often the way they down mix the cinematic content for home surround formats including Dolby digital on movies that usually have 24 or more discrete channel sound tracks and you can have that on DD HD TV ,UHD content and IPTV as well as disk media .
Does this unit come with the optical cable?
Yes it does
i dont see light
Does speakers have optical drive in or out put?
It has an optical in only
Ok thanks
nice
do you still have it?
Yes I do
LOUPED you sell it?
You want to buy it?
LOUPED I am from mexico, i'm looking for one of those,
Do you have a sale price?
I’ve never thought about selling it. They don’t have any in Mexico?
I'm stuck on standby and I can't reset can you please help
What do you mean by standby? Is the green light blinking?
At first I couldn't turn it off with the remote out of random, it might have programmed itself because it got stuck in between my couch. I disconnected it from to wall to turn it off that night. The next morning I went to use the remote to turn it on and the interface didn't have the green light on.
I've never had that problem. Make sure everything is plugged in correctly and the remote batteries are good
Mine remote control doesn’t have the Knob on the back to adjust my Subwoofer 😢
And you have the CineMate GS Series II?
@@LOUPED yes my subwoofer 🔊 doesn’t have the knob to adjust the volume 😞 I bought it used 4 years ago! it sound good but I want a little bit more BASS but I can’t 😢
@@diecaverna interesting 🤔 I had no idea systems without a knob were released. Are you in the US?
easy to connect to xbox one?
Yes very easy!
+Iván Meneses companion is a two speaker setup vs a system with four or more speakers surrounding you
Unlucky to anyone who has these as they don't decode DTS
+Acks2000 Not true...
I think the bose cinemate 15 is better
Why do you think that?
Is it Bluetooth?
It’s not unfortunately but you can always connect a Bluetooth adapter
Texted the speaker
I inherited one of these. Fortunately it was free because I'm not impressed. The sound basically sucks. Dull in the treble, hooty and colored in the mids and bass has no sense of pitch... just a one note boom box.
To add further insult the thing is devoid of any controls. Basically one analog or one digital in and no EQ or tone controls. None, no bass no treble no nothing except volume and subwoofer level controls. That's a lot of money for something you can't adjust the sound. Bottom line... sounds blah, no controls... it stinks.
i dont like this series with no receiver .
Mine won't turn green .... help!
Yul Olaivar so it won’t turn on?
@@LOUPEDThanks for replying....It's a simple connection it was working then i changed Internet Provider now it won't turn green.
Yul Olaivar how does it stop working when you change internet provider? It shouldn’t affect it at all
@@LOUPED yes i know it shouldn't. I turn the TV on with the remote that came with it then I turn the bose power on and the console turns green that's it. Now it won't. No sound from my bose speakers checked everything can't remember how many times and it just won't turn green. Put new batteries still nothing.
Yul Olaivar how is the system connected to your tv
He sounds like papigfunk
lol what shit
Horrible review
I inherited one of these. Sorry, not impressed. Sound isn't so great, and the woofer is boomy and hollow sounding. One note bass. Gemstones are blatty in the mids, rolled off in the treble and integrate poorly with the subwoofer. Worst of all there is no equalizer or any audio adjustments, not even a bass/treble and only one input.
What do you expect? That model is really old. They made new improved ones bro lol
my system wont turn on lik it stays on red light and it wont turn grerm
That has never happened to me. Make sure it's plugged in right
2016 Fail Fantasy it is probably a defective remote sensor unit. i had that happen to me and contacted bose and they sent a new one.
